On Tuesday, I had lunch at Hinoya Curry under the elevated tracks near Asakusabashi on the Sobu Line. I've been curious about their "Spicy Fried Pork Belly Curry" for a while, so I bought a meal ticket at the ticket machine outside, including an extra 50 yen for extra spiciness. It was around 11:30 am and there was only one other customer when I arrived, but the place quickly filled up. The location is great, the food is quick to eat, and it's quite popular. Here is the regular size of the Spicy Fried Pork Belly Curry. You can also get a free upgrade to a larger portion of rice. I ordered the extra spicy option, and I could see some kind of spicy seasoning mixed into the curry sauce. Unfortunately, the crispy pork belly was a bit soggy because the curry was poured over the top. I wish they would serve it like in the menu photo! The crispy fried pork belly has a hint of garlic and is spiced up with a spicy kick, reminiscent of Thai Moo Krob. The curry itself is thick with no solid pieces, so the pork belly topping is essential. The "extra spicy" meal ticket wasn't too hot, so I could have added a few more without a problem. Hinoya's curry has that classic Japanese curry taste that evokes nostalgia. I really like this kind of curry, it reminds me of the meals I had at old-fashioned diners. They even serve complimentary soup during lunchtime, so I left feeling completely satisfied.

I went to a curry restaurant near Asakusa Bridge called "Tsuno-ya" for the first time today, but I didn't realize it was a chain store. I bought a food ticket at the entrance ticket machine and handed it to the staff across the counter to place my order. Water and soup are self-service. The food was served quickly, which was convenient when I was short on time. The taste was... oh, it's sweet, but then the spicy flavor kicks in. It's like a Japanese old-style curry, and I quite liked it. They also sell retort curry.

Chain curry restaurant. Opted for the 7-minute portion to watch calories for dinner. Half portion seemed too little. Glad they offer a 7-minute option. Despite watching calories, went for cheese curry. Consistently delicious. A reliable curry chain alongside CoCo Ichibanya.

Asakusabashi seems like a festival. People of all ages in happi coats and traditional attire walk back and forth in groups or alone. Are they going to have a drinking party soon? Some people pass by carrying lots of beer. I felt a bit hungry and decided to enter here, the Asakusabashi branch of Hinoya. What caught my eye was the "7-minute serving" menu. All items on the menu can be ordered as a 7-minute serving for a discount of 100 yen. I ordered the croquette curry as a 7-minute serving. It was a sweet curry typical of diner-style curry. I think the idea of a 7-minute serving is clever. Unfortunately, I am not a woman, but this serving size was just right for me. As you can see in the photo, there is a self-service miso soup included, but it was too watery. It didn't taste like dashi or miso. I think they could do without it. The curry was delicious though. In terms of price, this curry is a winner! Even though it's in downtown Tokyo, it unfortunately doesn't quite compare to Osaka.

Next to Asakusabashi Station West Exit is Hinoya Curry. With only 15 minutes before catching my train, I decided to have curry here since it can be served quickly. I appreciate that you can freely add pickles and Fukujinzuke. I ordered the Fish Fry Curry in a 70% portion as the regular size is too much for me. I wanted to finish quickly, but the fry took a while to cook. Even so, I managed to eat it all and catch my train as planned.

The curry from Hinoya can be found in many places. Whenever I feel like eating curry, I always end up at Hinoya. I've been to various locations, but I feel like the one near Tokyo Station is tastier than Asakusabashi. The quality is consistent overall, but the taste may vary slightly depending on the store. Still, I really like the curry here.

I visited Noya in Asakusabashi for the first time and tried their limited-time Chicken Yamaarashi Age set with salad and soup. The beef consomme was delicious! As for the curry, it had been a long time since I last visited Noya, and the taste of the roux seemed different. Before, it used to have a sweet first bite followed by a spicy kick, like the Indian curry in Osaka, but this time it was consistent throughout without the fruity notes. However, overall it was well-balanced. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and very tasty!

I occasionally stop by Hinoya Curry when passing by nearby. I had the Cheese Chicken Curry. It was consistently good. The curry sauce has a strong flavor that makes it hard to distinguish from the Pork Cutlet Curry. If you get the large rice portion, it's a good value.

I feel like there have been a lot of new branches opening recently, but the prices seem a bit high. There is one near Kanda Station, but there are many other places nearby that serve curry, even if they are not specialty shops, and they are reasonably priced. There are also several curry restaurants in Asakusabashi, so they are often compared.

I went to the Asakusabashi branch of Hinoya Curry Guard, which is not often found in Chiba. I ordered the curry with lots of vegetables and added cheese topping, followed by the cheese-topped ramen. I opted for the medium portion. The fruity sweetness of the curry and the cheese in between the rice were a perfect combination, almost like a drink. I finished it all and next time, I would like to try adding extra curry sauce. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Near Asakusabashi Station. Visited for Saturday lunch. The interior of the restaurant is a bit small with a counter. After looking at the menu, I struggled between choosing the Katsu Curry or the Menchi Katsu, but ended up ordering the Menchi Katsu Curry. After a while, the curry arrived. First, the curry sauce. It was quite sweet. Personally, I found it too sweet, so I adjusted the flavor by adding some spices from the table. Next came the Menchi Katsu. It was tender, juicy, and delicious. Then the rice. It was a bit on the softer side, and as someone who prefers firmer rice, I wasn't a fan. Overall, it was tasty. The curry sauce portion was a bit small, so if you order extra rice, you might need more curry sauce. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

Asakusabashi Lunch Series No.39 Today I feel like having curry!!! I don't have much time, so I went to a place where I can quickly grab a bite. They offer takeout and have a lot of counter seats! What I had: Hinodeya Curry (with raw egg) @630 It was a sweet and spicy kind of curry? It was a bit sweet at first, but then the spices kicked in... Is it delicious? Well, it's just okay, I guess.

Kanda is a well-known area with many curry restaurants, and they even hold an event called the Kanda Curry Grand Prix. One of the curry shops that has been inducted into the hall of fame is Nino-ya. I found their retort curry at a nearby supermarket and decided to try their restaurant in Asakusabashi. They offer a variety of toppings like fried cutlets, shrimp fry, chicken cutlets, hamburgers, and more. I ordered the famous pork cutlet curry, which was sweet with a hint of spice. The cutlet was freshly fried and delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal for those who enjoy a hearty curry.

"Ninoya Curry," which has expanded to over 50 locations in central Tokyo since winning the Kanda Curry Grand Prix in 2013, caught my eye as I was walking around the city and decided to try it out. I ordered their famous "Katsu Curry" for ¥840, with the option of free extra rice. The curry initially has a nostalgic sweetness reminiscent of traditional Japanese curry, followed by a gradual spiciness. The katsu on top was also delicious, especially when soaked in the curry to soften it. Overall, the sweet and spicy flavor was surprisingly tasty. The taste is said to be inspired by the curry made by the owner's grandmother at a Showa-era Chinese restaurant, and the homemade feel of the dish makes me want to come back for more."

The chain restaurant Nino-ya has become a common sight in towns everywhere. Most of them are conveniently located near train stations, and the Asakusabashi branch is no exception, being situated under the train tracks. I tried their curry spaghetti, which is a nostalgic delight. Nino-ya's curry is a classic Osaka style, starting sweet and ending with a kick of spiciness. The Indian curry is a popular choice, and they even have curry spaghetti. The combination of spaghetti and curry is surprisingly delicious. In this dish, curry is poured over spaghetti and topped with red wieners, bell peppers, onions, egg yolk, and powdered cheese. The powdered cheese adds a nice touch. Although it would be even better with Tabasco, cayenne pepper can be used as an alternative for extra heat. Adjusting the spiciness with cayenne pepper adds to the charm of this dish. The restaurant's convenient location and all-day service make it worth a visit, and the variety in their menu keeps things interesting.

This time, the shop is here: Nohya Curry Asakusabashi Store. I ordered the huge cutlet curry. On the table, there are pickled radish and fukujinzuke. The menu looks like this. There is a ticket machine outside the shop, so you buy it before entering. The exterior of the shop looks like this.

I used to avoid this curry restaurant because I once received lukewarm curry with the wrong menu. However, when my friends suggested going to Asakusabashi for a meal, I decided to give it another try. The restaurant operates on a ticket system. I ordered a curry with the option to choose three toppings for 1080 yen. I added extra spiciness for 50 yen. The toppings I chose were shrimp fry, cheese cutlet, and spinach. It had been a while since I last visited, and I was surprised to see that the store had a modern feel to it. The curry was piping hot, and the toppings were generous in portion. It was a completely different experience from the Ryogoku branch. The curry had a hint of sweetness even after adding spiciness. Personally, I still prefer the simplicity of CoCo Ichibanya's curry. However, I must say that the value for money when it comes to toppings at this restaurant is excellent.

Lunch visit - Menchi Katsu Curry with plenty of vegetable toppings. The curry sauce sticks to the menchi katsu and in the end, there is not enough sauce left.
