Crab and salmon roe bowl (2,500 yen) Upon entering the restaurant, secure a seat first. After checking the menu, proceed to order and pay at the counter. Shortly after, the crab and salmon roe bowl arrives. Apart from a small amount of green onions and shiso leaves, the ingredients consist only of crab and salmon roe as the name suggests. The bowl is generously sized, with the rice completely hidden from view - a presentation that earns points for presentation! The crab meat is delicious, with a perfect texture that is not tough or watery, allowing you to enjoy the unique texture of crab meat. The seasoning is slightly mild, and the staff recommended eating it with wasabi soy sauce, which may explain the intended flavor profile. Towards the end, I added plenty of wasabi soy sauce as suggested. One distinctive feature was a faint scent of sesame oil coming from the crab. It wasn't a direct taste but more of a subtle hint, possibly added to the boiling water when cooking the crab to eliminate any fishy smell. The aroma of sesame oil paired well with the crab meat, creating an interesting flavor profile. The crab legs were sliced in half, with two pieces, and were packed with flavorful meat. The crab claws, each with two pieces, were a highlight, as they were easy to crack open and contained sweet, high-quality meat. The salmon roe was also delicious and generously portioned. The rice at the bottom was plain white rice, not vinegared rice, and the overall seasoning was slightly mild. The saltiness was just right, making it easy to enjoy the meal. The miso soup, although without any additional ingredients, had a rich crab broth flavor. The empty crab legs served as a testament to the skill of the crab specialty restaurant. Despite catering to tourists, the quality of the food clearly stands above typical tourist fare. Thank you for the meal.
