I ordered a Lambic beer (1,500 yen), which is a Belgian beer with a strong sour taste due to natural fermentation. It tasted like a different drink altogether, which was refreshing. I also had the Carbonnade Flamande (1,900 yen), which is a beef stew cooked in beer. The owner mentioned that sugar is not typically used in European cuisine, but it is an exception in this dish. The sauce was thick and gel-like, not liquid. The beef was tender and delicious.

I couldn't forget the sour beer called "Lambic" that a friend gave me, so I decided to look it up and found out that I could find it at a Belgian beer specialty shop. I searched for a place in Akasaka that seemed convenient to stop by after work, and among the big chain stores, I found this small shop that seemed to have a personal touch. When I went downstairs to enter the shop, an elderly gentleman who seemed to be the owner guided me to a seat. He told me that he used to be a pianist and fell in love with beer during his time in Belgium, eventually leading him to open this shop. It was my first visit to a Belgian beer specialty shop, so I was quite nervous, but since it was still early and there were no other customers, the owner kindly helped me, a complete beginner, choose a beer. They were all deliciously sour and heavenly! I enjoyed them with some fries. The dipping sauce changes daily, and the homemade mayo was amazing. I also ordered a Belgian dish called "Boulettes" for something a bit meatier. They were large meatballs mixed with a different type of Lambic in both the meat and tomato sauce. It was a perfect match with the beer. I definitely want to come back!■ Cantillon Creek (on tap)■ Cantillon Gueuze (bottle)■ Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait (bottle)

I visited the restaurant a little after 12 o'clock for lunch. I sat in the back room where there were empty seats. Today, I ordered the "Beef Tendon Stew (980 yen)". My colleague ordered the "Mixed Set Meal", and they also said that the meat was delicious. The hot pot of beef tendons was well stewed and tender, with a lightly salted and refreshing soup. In addition to beef tendons, it contained bean sprouts, tofu, and glass noodles. The side tail soup had a stronger flavor. As an accompaniment to rice, I think the set meals with hamburger, beef tongue, or harami would be more popular, but it's good to try a "different taste" occasionally. The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and relaxing.

I came for lunch after hearing that I could enjoy Belgian beer and beef tongue dishes at night. The restaurant, around 1 PM, was a bit calmer with about three groups of customers. The lone staff seemed busy handling orders and serving. I ordered the "Beef Tongue Hamburger" today. It came as a set with rice, salad, oxtail soup, and the main dish. The hamburger was delicious. The set was priced at 900 yen, which felt like a good deal. The hamburger had a slightly tangy demi-glace sauce with cheese on top. I was expecting a firmer hamburger due to the beef tongue, but it was a bit tender. It had a good meaty flavor, and I enjoyed it with the rice. The rice was barley rice. I would like to try the beef tongue set meal or the beef tendon set meal next time.

We used this place for the second round of our drinking party. There were no other customers in the restaurant, so it felt like a private party just for us. We enjoyed walnuts, bone-in sausages, and cheese as snacks, along with Belgian beer. The beer had a stronger sweetness and aroma compared to Japanese beer, which some people might find unusual, but we really enjoyed it. There are so many different types of beer to choose from, so when you're not sure what to order, the owner can recommend something based on your preferences. The bone-in sausages were juicy and packed with meaty flavor, they were simply delicious. We also liked the calm atmosphere of the restaurant, so we're thinking of trying their course menu for our next gathering.

Today's lunch decision was made to try out this restaurant that I've been curious about for a while. The sound of "beef tongue" intrigued me. I sat at a table in the left corner of the restaurant for lunch, while the right corner with a stylish counter seems more suitable for enjoying Belgian beer at night. I ordered the beef tongue lunch set that I came for. The beef tongue that arrived was thick and had a decent amount of volume (priced in the 1200 yen range, so it felt affordable). When I bit into it, it was tender but with a firm texture. The flavor was strong and went well with the rice. It seemed to be marinated in a special salt sauce, giving it a hint of ham-like taste. (Some people might prefer just grilling thick-cut beef tongue with salt). It would be nice to try pairing it with Belgian beer at night. Thank you for the meal~

A review of a lunch at a restaurant in Akasaka. The place is located in a small alley between Misuji Street and Esuraranard Street, known for serving Belgian beer and Sendai beef tongue. I passed by during lunchtime and saw the outdoor menu board. The lunch menu includes: Thick-cut beef tongue set meal for 1,280 yen (tax included), Beef tongue hamburger set meal for 850 yen, Harami set meal for 950 yen, Beef tongue stew for 950 yen, and Japanese beef misuji steak set meal for 1,300 yen. I visited the restaurant in November. I went downstairs where there were 2 other customers. The place didn't really give off a Belgian beer or cuisine vibe. I asked the female staff for recommendations and decided to try the Harami set meal for 950 yen. The other customers also ordered the same. After 5 minutes, a salad was served, followed by the main dish 2 minutes later. The Harami was cut into 10 pieces with sides of tomato, komatsuna, and shimeji mushrooms stir-fry. There was also spiced salt for the Harami. The meal also included barley rice and oxtail soup. The Harami had a decent texture and flavor, but it was not very satisfying in terms of portion and quality. Overall, I didn't find a compelling reason to eat here again. It might be better to try other places. It was disappointing that neither my heart nor my stomach felt satisfied. It seems like the restaurant's highlight is the 400 types of Belgian beer available at night, so that might be a better option.

As a fan of Belgian beer, especially white beer, I was curious about Boa Celeste. I visited a little late in the day. Cheers at Hugarten with a beer in hand! From the menu, I had to try the Belgian classic, frites. I also enjoyed the pickles, walnuts, and pistachios. I had another round of beer while enjoying the atmosphere. The owner majored in jazz and casually played the piano (electric piano?). The restaurant has been open for over 10 years and has a rich history. To finish off, I tried the local ramen from the owner's hometown. It was a soy sauce-based broth with pork bone and bonito flavors, not too heavy. It's a menu item available after 10 pm, but you might be able to request it earlier too. I had a great time enjoying beer in a relaxed atmosphere.

On the second day of Akasaka Tabenoma, I went alone. For the second stop, I went to this Belgian beer bar that I couldn't get into the other day, as it opened at 6 o'clock. There are at least three Belgian beer bars in Akasaka that I know of. This inconspicuous underground bar seemed to be run by a couple, and even though I went at 6 o'clock, they weren't ready yet and were slow to serve. I ordered a set of Hoegaarden and potato fries. The fries were freshly fried and deliciously sweet, but the portion was small. The beer was also on the smaller side, so it was a bit underwhelming.

On 11th January 2011, after relaxing at a traditional coffee shop with cake and coffee, we went for a leisurely stroll and ended up at "Boa Célesté". Located about a 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station, this restaurant is tucked away in a basement off Akasaka Street. It was established in 1988 as a Belgian beer and cuisine establishment by the owner, who used to live in Belgium as a jazz pianist and fell in love with Belgian beer. Over the past 20 years, they have been promoting Belgian beer and cuisine in Japan. The interior is charming with a rustic Belgian countryside feel, with various bottles of beer and Belgian trinkets on display. The beer menu boasts around 400 varieties, including special beers sourced through importers to satisfy the owner's desire for unique Belgian beers. The owner visits Belgium annually to stay updated on the latest beer trends and maintain relationships with brewers. The menu showcases a selection of Belgian beers, and the knowledgeable master can recommend the best beer for you. The hot beer we ordered, Glüh Kriek, was sweet but not overly so, with a berry flavor that was delightful. The high alcohol content Bush (Scaldis) beer was a strong and rich choice, perfect for those looking for a bold flavor. The food menu is on the pricier side, with dishes like the delicious Mussels in White Wine being a standout. Overall, Boa Célesté is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts looking to explore the world of Belgian beer.

After finishing work, I had a meal with a junior colleague and then decided to go to another bar because it was the day before a holiday and my colleague seemed like they hadn't had enough to drink. I got quite drunk at the second bar so I don't remember the exact amount, but the beers I had were as follows:
- Grisette Blanche
- Floreffe
- Bush
Grisette Blanche is a refreshing white beer with a hint of herbs. Floreffe has a beautiful bright amber color. By the time I had Bush, I was already quite drunk... Since we had already eaten, we only had beer this time, but I would like to try the food as well next time.

Last night, I went to "Bois Celeste" in Akasaka with the president of Afferis, who I connected with through a blog, and my friend K. It had been about 6-7 years since my last visit, but the owner, Yamada-san, still remembered me and greeted me warmly. The specialty of the restaurant is the beef stewed in beer, but unfortunately, it wasn't available yesterday. We ended up having dishes like mussel and endive gratin, fried hash potato, and sausage. While the food was tasty, it lacked a bit in terms of portion size for us guys. Nonetheless, the cozy atmosphere and delicious Belgian cuisine made me want to come back to this place again.

I visited this restaurant because I heard they serve Hoegaarden beer (and delicious food). It was a bit hard to find, but the owner, who was elegant and kind, welcomed me. I tried other beers besides Hoegaarden, but the carefully poured Hoegaarden with a nice foamy head was exceptional. The dishes were also meticulously prepared. The escargot and hard cheese were impressive! The hard cheese had a good amount and was very satisfying. I forgot the name of the cheese, sorry. But the beautiful orange-colored cheese was incredibly delicious. (They provided a knife so you could cut it into your preferred size.) The owner was knowledgeable about beer and entertained customers with engaging conversation. I definitely want to go back for drinks again!

This is my father's friend's shop, and I have been coming here quite often for a long time. The owner is very knowledgeable about Belgium and seems to frequently visit Belgium for study sessions. He is a very friendly and easy-to-talk-to person who sometimes plays the piano. I personally love Belgian beer, so I always look forward to visiting this place, but the prices here are really high! I mean, too high!! I sometimes buy Belgian beer at the supermarket, so I have a rough idea of the cost, which makes me think it's expensive every time. But enjoying beer, chocolate, and cheese while listening to stories about Belgium is something unique to this place. Maybe it's because it's in Akasaka, so it's understandable. The interior has a very European-style bar and restaurant atmosphere. It's a bit difficult to find as it's not facing a main street, but if you walk down towards Hie Shrine from Akasaka Station, turn right, and then enter the alley on the left, you'll find it underground. It's a hidden gem for those who know about it, a place for Belgian beer.

The store is roughly divided into two sections. To the left of the entrance, there is a restaurant with table seating, while to the right is a bar with a counter where the master is located. The area of both sides is almost the same. The right side is where the uniqueness of this store is evident. As many have mentioned, the master is a jazz pianist. He occasionally plays at the piano next to the counter. The motivation for opening this store was when the master, in his younger days, became hooked on Belgian beer during his music training in Europe. As a specialty store, they have a variety of original glasses for each beer brand, making it fun just to look at them. It would be enjoyable to order a beer that catches your eye and try it out. However, unlike German beer, Belgian beer has a wide variety of styles, so it's best to ask the master about the type before ordering. He will surely explain it carefully, so if it's not to your liking, you can always change your order. The dishes are like typical bar snacks, but there are sometimes recommended items not on the menu, so give them a try if suggested. I have tried dishes such as Tanba wild boar, air-freighted white asparagus, and Shanghai crab, all of which were delicious. Simple potato dishes, mussels, and beef stew with beer are also good choices. The master reportedly goes on an annual expedition to visit breweries in Belgium with regular customers. It's a friendly and welcoming place.

It's a small underground shop, but they have an amazing variety of Belgian beers. The menu is impressive. They serve the beer in the appropriate glass, which is great. The owner is a jazz pianist who has lived in Belgium, and sometimes he plays the piano spontaneously. Some of the Belgian beers have a high alcohol content, like 14%, so you need to be careful as they are easy to drink. I once got really drunk at Gilgamesh and Delirium Tremens, so this time I had a fruity beer from the Hoegaarden series, but I forgot the name... It had a hard-to-remember name (excuses). I should start secretly making a list of the beers I drink in the future, if the atmosphere allows. I want to make a list like a sommelier club. I didn't eat much, just some snacks, but the prices are a bit high. But then again, Belgian beers are expensive in general, so I recommend grabbing a bite somewhere before coming here.

I used it for lunch. When looking at the sign outside the store, I couldn't help but have high expectations. However, when I went down and entered the store, there were only two other customers during the lunch rush hour. Also, for some reason, they were decorating the interior of the store for the evening. Why at this time... At this point, I was prepared for a failed choice of restaurant. I ordered a 1000 yen lunch set. It included pita bread, salad, fish dish (or meat dish), coffee, and dessert. The pita bread was homemade and freshly made, nice and warm. This was delicious. The salad, however, had vegetables that were not in good condition at all. What's up with that... The fish dish was a grilled sea bream with porcini cream sauce and a side of boiled beans, very generous in portion. And the sea bream fillet was quite large. I was surprised to find a bay leaf still in the porcini cream sauce. The dessert, a chocolate cake, was so-so. Hmm, it was filling but didn't give me any sense of satisfaction. I think once going to this restaurant for lunch is enough. Previous reviewers are honest.

This is a specialty store for Belgian beer. They have a surprising variety of beers, but the owner is very kind and will explain anything you ask about. It's truly a store for "Belgian beer geeks". However, Belgian beer is very rich and usually not something you can drink a lot of. If you want to try many different kinds, it's recommended to go with a group of people. The fries are amazing! The mussels are also served in generous portions. Nevertheless, the main attraction is the beer. The owner may suddenly start playing the piano, which is quite charming. If you visit a few times, you too can become a Belgian beer expert!
