The owner is a fan of the famous Otsuka restaurant, Bongo. It is located near my company and I often use it. There are many types of onigiri, but personally, I like the salmon and ikura the best. In these times, I understand that it can't be helped, but if the prices were a little cheaper, I would give it a higher rating...

It is located about a 10-minute walk along Dogenzaka from Shibuya Station! I visited alone, but since the interior of the restaurant has only a counter, there were many solo customers and it was easy to enter! I ordered a set of two small rice balls! It came with two small rice balls of my choice, miso soup, fried chicken, rolled omelette, and kinpira burdock! The comforting taste made me feel warm inside! The miso soup also comes with a nice service of free refills! Thank you for the meal!

I don't have any special days off like Obon or holidays, so I'm working as usual. I keep going to Tokoshiya restaurant and taking similar photos, as always. This time, a colleague wanted to eat Japanese food before going home, so we went together. My colleague was happy to find beer available, but I prefer not to drink alcohol here. I ordered my usual: onigiri set with an extra onigiri and changed the miso soup to nameko soup. My colleague ordered an onigiri set and a draft beer. The onigiri was so delicious, along with the karaage, dashimaki tamago, and kinpira. The hot nameko soup was very comforting. The rice was perfectly balanced this time, not too loose. My colleague, who had been to Bongo before, also enjoyed Tokoshiya. I am grateful to my colleague for sharing this experience. I will definitely continue to visit Tokoshiya in the future! Thank you for the meal.

Onigiri is delicious! Karaage is also delicious! It may seem expensive to pay 1300 yen for a simple onigiri set, but the taste made me feel satisfied and happy leaving the restaurant. I may not visit this place often for everyday meals, but compared to the disappointment of mediocre pasta places or bistros, I feel more reassured here. Perhaps it's because I'm Japanese and I just really love rice. The tamagoyaki, kinpira, and miso soup are all delicious as well.

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. I was able to enter smoothly without waiting in line! There were a variety of onigiri options, and it was fun just looking at them. The onigiri was quite large, so it was a good decision to just get one! I also thought it would be nice to try getting a smaller size and more varieties next time! The taste of the fried chicken was not great, so next time I go, I plan to order just the onigiri without the set.

I have never had such a delicious onigiri before. It was the perfect firmness and a good size. I definitely want to go back. It was very crowded. "Spicy Tuna Mayo" was too spicy for me, but the tuna flavor was strong and tasty. "Egg Yolk Soy Sauce" had a rich egg yolk flavor that was delicious. It was easy to taste the quality of the white rice as well.

After walking up Dogenzaka for a while, there was no wait as I went in the evening. This time, I ordered spicy cod roe mayo with egg yolk soy sauce marinated in fish roe, which I realized was a mismatch with the egg afterwards. I ordered the spicy cod roe mayo as a small rice ball and the egg yolk soy sauce marinated in fish roe in the regular size. The spicy cod roe mayo had a mild spiciness and a gentle flavor, while the egg yolk soy sauce marinated in fish roe tasted a bit lonely when ordered alone, so it seemed like it would go well with the addition of chicken soboro.

The onigiri starts at 300 yen each. I ordered the mentaiko mayo for 300 yen and the ao-togarashi miso flavor. The restaurant has a clean and stylish atmosphere, similar to a sushi counter. Orders are placed using a tablet in the drawer at the seating area. This onigiri shop is popular in Gotanda. I also added a chicken karaage for 160 yen. The total came to 760 yen, and I had a very satisfying lunch. They also offer set meals and alcoholic beverages.

I went on a pilgrimage to Shibuya for the Bongo series. It was delicious, but it didn't leave a strong impression. I've been exploring onigiri shops recently, so maybe my standards have been raised. The fried chicken was delicious, so if I'm in the area again, I'd like to have a beer and fried chicken set.

I have been hooked on rice balls since visiting that rice ball shop. I wanted to try this place for a while now. However, unlike that shop, there is no line at all here. The way they make the rice balls looks similar to that shop, but maybe the rice is different. It doesn't have that fluffy feeling when you eat it. The tuna I ordered didn't seem to go well with it. The miso soup is too salty, and the fried chicken is also too salty. Hmm... I think I'll go back to that shop to confirm the taste. Thank you for the meal.

A rice ball shop on Dogenzaka. I visited for breakfast. There is seating at the counter and also takeaway. Under the counter, there is a drawer with a touch panel and a wet towel inside, so you use the touch panel to place your order. The rice ball set costs 990 yen, and I chose the rice ball with pickled mustard leaf, wasabi, and kelp (+30 yen). You can have unlimited miso soup, and side dishes include sauteed burdock root, rolled omelette, and fried chicken. The taste is good and the portion is sufficient. The miso soup is full of ingredients, and the fried chicken is freshly fried in front of you. The rice ball looks like it's about the size of two convenience store rice balls and is quite large, but it's not tightly packed so it's fluffy. It's so fluffy that it's quite difficult to eat by hand without it falling apart. Also, since they provide fried chicken and sauteed burdock root, I wish they would have toothpicks available at each table.

The set of three rice balls is about the size of a convenience store rice ball with just the right amount of saltiness. It includes flavorful salmon, delicious seedless plum, freshly fried chicken, fluffy omelette, kinpira burdock, and piping hot miso soup! There are many varieties of rice balls to choose from.

It's been a while since I posted about Tokoshiya. As always, it's a soothing place and I find myself visiting frequently. Onigiri, miso soup, and fried chicken. I'm grateful to be Japanese...! It's a comforting time after work. However, it seems that prices have gone up...! Just as a reminder. When I revisited shortly after they opened, I noticed a slight increase in prices, but this time I was quite surprised. Perhaps they raised prices starting this month. - Onigiri set for two Previously 1150 yen → Now 1250 yen * Additional charge of 30 yen to 350 yen depending on the type of onigiri * I went back to check my initial review, and this set was 1000 yen back then. Set menus have all gone up by 100 yen, and additional charges have been added for various toppings, onigiri options, and side dishes. What used to be included in the set menu without additional charge now incurs extra fees for certain toppings. It's a tough time for everyone, but it's a bit disheartening and sad to see the prices go up. It was part of the charm that the prices were quite reasonable here. The food is still delicious, of course, but... Well, everywhere seems to be struggling. It's a blessing to be able to enjoy delicious food, and when you find a place that offers good value for your money, it's truly a result of the efforts of the restaurant. I still want to continue going there, but it really makes you think about things. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant shortly after it opened last time and had to wait a bit due to some operational issues. However, this time, despite being full, I was served within 10 minutes. I chose the mentaiko and okaka set, which was the same as before - a large onigiri with cut chicken karaage, making it easy to eat. The karaage is double-fried before being served, so it's hot and easier to eat than before. The mentaiko today was extremely generous, almost too much, but perfect for mentaiko lovers. The service was quicker, and the onigiri was still packed with ingredients. This onigiri specialty store is becoming a place I want to visit regularly, although there are still some areas for improvement in terms of operations, like forgetting to serve tea or miso soup. Thank you for the meal.

You get a set of two onigiri (rice balls) with miso soup as a side, along with dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette), kinpira gobou (burdock root), and karaage (fried chicken). Also included are egg yolk soboro and tuna mayo with salted seaweed. All of this for just under 1,300 yen. It's a filling meal that is served quickly at the counter, making it very convenient!

It's Tuesday night. I'm on Dougenzaka. A raccoon, who decided to grill ribs by himself, is heading towards Shibuya Station. Hmm, but something feels missing. Maybe the mini cold noodles as a finisher weren't enough after all. It's carbs, isn't it! Not putting the grilled meat on rice was a mistake. What should I do? My cute stomach is starting to ache. And then, I suddenly stop and spot a neat rice ball shop along Dougenzaka. Decision made. I'll have a solo second round with rice! I sit at the counter and order using the pad provided. Since it's the second round, I choose a modest mini rice ball. The fillings are salmon, kelp, sea chicken mayo kelp, and miso soup. Inside the counter, three young women are working. An older man, who seems to be the manager, scoops rice into molds. Huh, wait, what, that's the mini size? Looks like it could be double the size of a convenience store rice ball. Will I be able to eat three of them...? I start with the salmon. Oh, it's softly packed, so it's full of air. Not tightly packed, so I could easily handle three. The rice is delicious too. Eating freshly made rice balls like this makes it hard to go back to the chemical-soaked ones from convenience stores. And that's a wrap. Bon appétit!

"Freshly made delicious onigiri without waiting in line ❤️ Enjoy the taste of a super popular shop on Dogenzaka ☺️ Recently, I've been seeing a lot of onigiri specialty shops on Instagram, and I decided to try one on Dogenzaka called Togoshiya @onigiri_togoshiya. You can take out or eat in at the long counter like a sushi restaurant. This time, I ordered the classic set. I thought about getting the small size set, but the ingredients I wanted were only available in the regular size, so I went for the regular size. I chose the salted salmon, pork kimchi, and egg yolk fillings. I also upgraded to nameko mushroom soup instead of miso soup ❤️ They also had pork miso soup available. The side dishes were surprisingly good, with crispy fried chicken and elegantly seasoned rolled omelette. The onigiri is made right in front of you at the counter after you order. When it arrived, it was so airy that it could easily fall apart if you bite it the wrong way. The salted salmon onigiri was delicate and easy to eat with chopsticks. I used to eat onigiri frequently, but now I want to enjoy it more at restaurants like this one! The variety of fillings is endless, so I'll never get tired of it. I want to explore other famous onigiri shops now ☺️ #Foodie #Foodstagram #FoodieGirls #FoodLover #FoodieLife #TokyoFood #TokyoFoodMap"

I found a rice ball specialty store on Instagram by chance. It's located in Shibuya Dogenzaka and Ginza, and because it's not well known yet, you can get in right away. I was interested in Bongos, but Otsuka is too far and I don't want to wait for hours there, so I decided to try a similar shop nearby. They offer eat-in, take-out, and delivery options. The menu is similar to Bongos, with around 40 types of rice balls to choose from. The "2 Rice Balls Set" is priced at ¥1,150, including your choice of rice balls, a large piece of fried chicken, rolled omelette, kinpira, and miso soup. I chose the popular options of salmon roe + salmon (+¥350) and egg yolk + minced meat (+¥100). The rice balls are huge, bigger than a fist, and very fluffy when held they crumble easily. The fillings are not only on top but also generously packed inside. You pay at the self-service register. I would like to try the authentic Bongos at the newly opened Shinjuku store soon!

There is an onigiri shop on Dogenzaka in Shibuya, near the beloved Dogenzaka Mammoth. You can eat in or take out! Delivery is also very popular. You order on a tablet at the counter seats. It's so hard to choose from the onigiri lined up in the showcase! The ikura and salmon are the most expensive, but definitely delicious. Just thinking about the tamago and soboro makes my mouth water. So, I ordered those two, miso soup, and a dashimaki. The most expensive onigiri cost around 1500 yen, which is quite pricey, but it was seriously delicious. It was bigger than I expected! And the appearance is great too. When you take a big bite, it's pure bliss. The softness as it crumbles in your mouth, and it's packed with ingredients inside! The ikura, salmon, tamago, and soboro were all hits. Despite its size, it's so light and easy to eat, a divine quality. The dashimaki was fluffy and I finished it in an instant. The miso soup had a strong bonito flavor and was also delicious. You can even get a refill! Overall, I was extremely satisfied. Even just getting three small onigiri would be great. Definitely a repeat visit place! Thank you for the meal!

A set of two onigiri located in Shibuya 109, straight ahead on the left road. You can enjoy delicious onigiri here with classic fillings like salmon and mentaiko. The kimpira, tamagoyaki, and karaage were also tasty. However, the onigiri was larger than expected and filled me up quickly. It might be better to increase the variety by getting a set of three onigiri.
