It's been a while, maybe about a year. Usachan (390 yen) is a dessert with berry mousse filled with berry jam and vanilla mousse. The vanilla mousse is so cold it feels like ice cream. The outer mousse is fluffy. Cassis Orange (400 yen) has cassis mousse and orange cream with white chocolate mousse. The cassis mousse is intense, alternating between sweet and sour. This time, the usual cheerful lady wasn't there, which was disappointing.
If you come to Shinzaki, you can't resist visiting this shop. There are large chocolate sculptures displayed inside the shop. Kawauchi late mandarin jelly (350 yen) is a citrus jelly using juicy Kawauchi late mandarin with lemon jelly topping. Uji matcha (360 yen) is a matcha cake with layers of matcha mousse and white chocolate mousse. The matcha flavor is strong, giving it a Japanese taste. The red bean adds a nice texture. Seikei orange tart (240 yen) is a tart with refreshing orange flavor. The Seikei orange is a mix of mandarin and orange, with the peel included. The crispy tart was delicious.
It's been a while since I visited Shinzaki. The friendly staff welcomed me again. The bright atmosphere is partly due to the charm of this staff member. There were some cute cakes that children would love. One of them, Ladybug (380 yen), has a berry sauce coating with rare cheesecake and vanilla mousse inside. Despite looking very sweet, it was actually not too sweet due to the cheesecake, and the berry's sweet and sour taste made it surprisingly suitable for adults. Western pear shortcake (370 yen) has fresh Western pear slices on top. The shortcake cream has a strong milk flavor. The fluffy sponge, refreshing cream, and balanced taste made it a delightful cake. The shop is already in Christmas mode, with Christmas cakes and gifts adding to the festive atmosphere.
If you head north from Shinzaki Station, turn right onto Koshigatamichi Road and you'll find this cake shop about 200 meters away. The stylish exterior makes it look new, and it will celebrate its 2nd anniversary next month in August. Two years ago when the shop opened, there wasn't much around here, but recently the area has been developing into a more lively neighborhood. Across the road in front of the shop, there was a Mickey Mouse statue. They offer a variety of cakes, including roll cakes, decoration cakes, shortcakes, baked donuts, and macarons. The cream puff (168 yen) is filled with cream after ordering, keeping the pastry crispy. The cream is creamy and made with low-temperature sterilized milk. The popular Fruit Shortcake (370 yen) is topped with strawberries, mandarins, and melon. The cream sandwiched between the sponge also contains bananas and kiwis. The cream is surprisingly not too sweet, making it a perfect match with the fruits. Peach tart (380 yen) features a peach half on top of an almond-infused tart. The custard cream on the tart is covered by the peach. The peach season may not have a strong image, but it seems to be in full swing around this time. What is a Shinzaki Busse (130 yen)? I thought it was a large macaron, but when I asked, they said it's similar to a Navona. It's very soft and fluffy.
