In the past, they used to operate at night as well, but currently they are only open for lunch on weekdays. They were selected as one of the top 100 set meal restaurants in 2021. Visiting this place can be difficult personally. I arrived around 1 pm on a Wednesday, just in time before they close at 1:30 pm or when they run out of food. There were two people waiting outside the restaurant. Most of the customers were office workers. While waiting in line, a staff member asked me how many fried oysters I wanted and how much rice I wanted. Luckily, they still had some left. I ordered 3 fried oysters and a regular amount of rice. A few more groups of customers arrived later, but everyone seemed to be able to eat. The smell of oysters from inside the restaurant was irresistible. It took about 10 minutes to enter the restaurant. Once inside, I was directed to a counter seat where tea was already prepared. I enjoyed listening to the sound of oysters being fried while waiting. It was a nice experience. The meal arrived in about 5 minutes. The Fried Oyster Set (3 pieces) cost 1,580 yen. The fried oysters were large, and the rice portion was also generous. The batter was crispy, and the oysters were full of flavor. The fried oysters were made from multiple oysters combined into one piece. Personally, it was the biggest fried oyster I've had since "Oda Ho" in Tsukiji. It was so delicious that I felt like I could eat two more pieces. And all of this for 1,580 yen was a great deal. I thought it was a shame that they only operate during weekday lunches. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

Around 11:50, I arrived at the restaurant with 4 colleagues, and I was worried about getting a table, but we didn't have to wait and there were exactly 4 seats available at the counter, so we were able to enter immediately. By the way, the restaurant next door, Nakayama, had a long line. I originally wanted to try the famous oyster fry, but it's not the season for it, so they weren't serving it. According to online information, the oyster fry season is from October to April, and during this time, they only offer oyster fry set meals, limited to 50 servings per day. I ended up ordering the pork cutlet set meal for 1320 yen, with a large serving for an additional 150 yen, totaling 1470 yen. Payment by QR code is accepted. I was told that the thick-cut pork cutlet would take 40 minutes, so I gave up on that option. The breading was crispy and the meat was juicy, it was undeniably delicious. The minced cutlet that my colleague was eating also looked delicious. I would like to revisit during the oyster season starting next month.

I had plans to visit Ningyocho and decided to finally visit San'yuu, a tempura restaurant I had been curious about. I ordered the Mixed Tempura Set B, which seemed to have the smallest portion since I've been eating too much lately. After a 10-minute wait, the dish was served. It was huge... The fried horse mackerel was huge... It was difficult to dip in the sauce dish due to its size, but it was delicious. I was surprised after taking a bite. The minced cutlet was also of incredibly high quality... I finished my meal while saying "yum yum". It had been a while since I had encountered such a delicious lunch, and it made me feel very happy.

We made it just in time! They closed the shop early because they ran out of rice before our turn. I splurged on the "Thick-cut Pork Cutlet Set Meal" and my companion had the "Mixed Fry A Set Meal" - both were excellent. Be careful, though, as extra rice costs 150 yen and seconds cost 300 yen. If you have the chance, definitely try it out. I'm looking forward to trying the "Pork Cutlet Bowl Set Meal" next time.

A famous restaurant in Ningyocho known for its pork cutlet. Their fried oysters are popular, but they're not available in the summer. The restaurant has a traditional atmosphere typical of Ningyocho, and it's a bit intimidating from the outside as you can't see inside, but once you step in, the staff is surprisingly friendly. The interior is small. I ordered the Mixed Fry Set A. The fried items were substantial and delicious. The rice tasted similar to homemade rice. Next time, I want to try the pork cutlet.

I went to a popular restaurant in Azabu-juban called Ningyocho and was lucky to get in without waiting. I ordered the fried horse mackerel set meal for ¥1,200. Although the oyster fry and tonkatsu are famous, the fried horse mackerel was also delicious and tender. The batter was crispy. Next time, I want to try the oyster fry.

Finally got my hands on some dorayaki at Kiyotokuken! Then headed over to Sanyu for lunch. I had the mixed fry with horse mackerel and minced meat. The minced meat cutlet was unique in shape and had a delicious, meaty flavor. The horse mackerel was fried to perfection, light and fluffy. The portion size was just right. They mentioned that oysters will be available from October, which seems to be a specialty here. I'll have to come back and try that next time. Mixed fry B set meal for 1,150 yen.

I ordered the Pork Cutlet Set Meal (1320 yen) because the Fried Oysters were not in season. The pork cutlet had a decent amount of fat, but it wasn't too heavy. The portion size was satisfying. The meat is sourced directly by the chef. The chef is quite talkative, and everyone at the table had at least one conversation with him. If you don't initiate a conversation, he will leave you be.

I visited this popular restaurant known for its long lines for their fried oysters, but this time I decided to try their fried horse mackerel based on a rumor I heard in town. Despite it being off-season, I only had to wait for about 10 minutes to get a seat. I ordered the horse mackerel set meal for 1200 yen, and when it arrived, it looked perfect. The outside was crispy while the inside was juicy and tender, and it tasted great with the sauce and mustard. I wish the fish was a bit thicker and the value for money could have been better. Next time, I want to try their pork cutlet. Overall, it was a good experience!

It was past 12 o'clock on a regular day. I wanted to come before 12 o'clock but couldn't make it on time. Since it's a popular restaurant, I was prepared for a long line. It's my day off so I'm willing to wait for an hour. I got off at Nihonbashi Station and on my way here, I saw some restaurants with people waiting outside. When I arrived here, there was no line outside. I cautiously peeked inside and saw that the counter seats near the entrance were available. Lucky me. I was seated there. I had heard that the fried oysters were delicious, but they weren't on the menu. The staff seemed busy so I didn't ask. I decided to try something else. I ordered the Mixed Fry B Set Meal for ¥1150, which included horse mackerel fry and minced cutlet. I had eaten a set meal at another restaurant about an hour ago, so I asked for less rice. The set meal arrived shortly on a tray. There was less rice but plenty of side dishes. I took a bite of the horse mackerel fry. It was delicious, maybe the best I've ever had. The minced cutlet was also very meaty. I was unsure if I could finish it, but it wasn't too greasy or heavy. I managed to finish it all. I must say it was delicious. After finishing my meal, I asked about the fried oysters. They are only available from October to the end of April, so they weren't serving them now. Apparently, the oysters available now are frozen, except for the rock oysters. I'll come back another time to try the fried oysters. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for the first time in 4 and a half years around 11:30 am on a weekday. There were a few customers already seated at the counter. I wanted to try the menu that is available when it's not oyster season. I ordered the cheapest option, the Mixed Fry B set meal for 1150 yen. The Aji (horse mackerel) and Menchi (minced meat cutlet) were fried on the spot and I waited for about 13 minutes. The portions of the fried food, cabbage, and rice were on the smaller side. The Aji was fluffy and delicious, although not very thick. The Menchi was slightly lacking in juiciness. The rice, miso soup, and cabbage were of standard taste. They don't offer a large portion of rice, but you can get a large portion for an additional 150 yen, or a refill for 300 yen. I was warned, but the sauce container was very difficult to use. When you push it, the sauce suddenly squirts out. Other customers were spilling it, so it seems like it would be better to replace it. The Thick-cut Pork Cutlet set meal for 2000 yen takes about 20 minutes to fry, and I would like to try it next time.

Around 11:30, I was looking for a place to eat near Ningyocho Station before work, and I noticed a line forming at a tempura restaurant. Next to it was "Sanyu" with an appealing menu for fried horse mackerel, so I decided to try it out. I sat at the counter and ordered the B set meal, which came with fried horse mackerel and minced meat cutlet. When I arrived, the place was empty, but soon a few other customers came in for lunch. The taste was simple but delicious, with a nice combination of fried dishes. Thank you for the meal.

I finally had the chance to visit the restaurant on a weekday afternoon since it's closed on weekends. It's located near Tenpura Nakayama, which is also selected as one of the top 100 restaurants. I arrived before 12 pm and didn't have to wait in line. Inside the restaurant, there was a friendly chef and a waitress. I was seated at the counter. The seasonal dish I wanted, the oyster fry set, wasn't available, so I ordered the mixed fry set (horse mackerel, minced meat). After a 10-minute wait, the freshly fried set meal was served. I was surprised by its size. The horse mackerel fry was extra large, and there were two pieces of minced meat. The rice portion was generous as well. It was very filling! No wonder there were many male customers. The horse mackerel fry was thick and juicy. The minced meat was a bit different from what I had imagined, more like fried meatloaf. The freshly fried crispy texture was very delicious. They accept various credit cards and electronic money for payment. It was a slightly unexpected point considering the atmosphere of the restaurant. They closed before 1 pm, so it's better to go a bit early for lunch.

At lunchtime in Ningyocho, there are popular shops with cheap and delicious food, as well as fast-paced standing soba restaurants where you might have to wait in line. It's a fiercely competitive area for lunch. Today, I decided to go to San'yuu for a fried set meal since the tempura place next door had a long line, even with foreign tourists waiting. I ordered the mixed set meal with fried horse mackerel and minced cutlet. I wanted to try the famous oyster fry, but it was out of season. The minced cutlet was a bit unique for my taste, but the horse mackerel fry was crispy on the outside and tender inside, very delicious. Thank you for the meal. I'll come back to try the oyster fry next time!

Six years have passed since the last time I visited this place, time flies! My friend and I went on a weekday at 11:20 and we were about the 6th group in line, but we were able to get a table after one round. We immediately ordered 3 pieces of fried oysters. It was lucky timing because the next day was the end of oyster season, so we were able to enjoy them before they went off the menu. The fried oysters were crispy on the outside, creamy and flavorful on the inside with about 4 oysters in each piece. They were delicious with the sauce. The kitchen and the waitstaff had beautiful and friendly sisters working there, which made the atmosphere very pleasant. After finishing the oysters, we noticed that it was a regular tonkatsu restaurant, which we had never tried before. It was a bit rude of us, but we overheard someone saying that the fried horse mackerel was delicious, so we decided to come back next time to try it! Can't wait!

A restaurant located in Ningyocho where you can enjoy a giant oyster fry the size of a fist. Established in 1970. From October to the end of April, they only offer oyster fry set meals, and from May onwards, you can savor bonito from the first catch to the returning bonito, depending on the season. This restaurant operates only for 2.5 hours on weekdays, serving a limited 50 servings of oyster fry set meals made with oysters from Hiroshima. Location: 2 minutes walk from Ningyocho Station Business hours: 11:00 - 13:30 (Last order 13:15) Closed: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays Crowdedness: I visited on a weekday afternoon and waited in line for about 30 minutes. Today, I ordered the "Sanyu Oyster Fry 3-piece Set Meal" (¥1580). From October to April, it seems that they only offer oyster fry set meals, as I was asked by the staff while waiting in line, "Would you like 2 or 3 pieces?" Extra rice is available for an additional ¥150, and payment is required in advance. After a short wait at my table, the Sanyu Oyster Fry arrived. It was about the size of a fist, and I couldn't even finish a quarter of it in one bite. There are various ways to enjoy it, with salt, sashimi soy sauce, shichimi chili pepper, sauce, and lemon provided. The oyster fry has more oysters than batter, and it's so large because they stack multiple oysters to make one fry. Depending on the season, they stack 4-15 oysters per fry, using smaller oysters in October when they start selling, and larger, plumper oysters in January-February. The batter remains crispy, with a creamy oyster inside. The rice is pleasantly chewy. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try oyster fry.

Around 1 pm on a regular day, I arrived at the restaurant and found no line, making me think they might not be open. However, they were open. I entered without waiting and chose two oysters before being seated in the back tatami area. It seemed like they were only serving one customer at a time, whether at the counter or in the tatami area. I received my order in about 10 minutes. I was served two large oyster fry dishes. The rice portion was regular size, and the miso soup was filled with plenty of ingredients. The oyster fry was piping hot, making it a bit challenging to bite into directly. I used chopsticks to break it apart and took a bite. The oysters were fresh, but perhaps because the season was ending, the taste was just okay. The juiciness was also lacking. However, each piece contained plenty of oysters, giving it a satisfying texture. If it were a bit more fluffy, it would have been better, but I suppose it's inevitable when frying them all together. At 1280 yen, considering the amount of oysters included, it's a good deal. The rice was very soft. My expectations were high, so it didn't quite meet them. Still, I was satisfied to eat without waiting in line. Thank you for the meal.

The jumbo oyster fry with small oysters is very satisfying. The crispy coating and hot oysters are not extremely juicy, but the large quantity makes up for it. It's a good choice for those craving oysters.

★Why not visit the long-established coffee shop in the same Ningyocho area? For more details, please see the following blog article: https://katsuq.com/blog-entry-617.html The shop has a very small interior with a sign outside saying "Counter 5 seats, Tatami room 6 seats." Due to its small size, there is always a long line forming even before opening. The shop is extremely popular, so we also lined up to wait. From October to April, for seven months, they only serve oyster fry set meals. While waiting outside, the staff will take your order. We ordered two oyster fry set meals. First, we paid at the entrance. The interior is so small that they rotate customers in units. This is the view of the kitchen from the counter. You receive the set meal from the counter. It's the oyster fry set meal, which comes with rice, miso soup, and pickles. A generous portion of oysters in the ball. The batter is crispy. According to the staff, "Oyster fry is only available from October to April for seven months. Outside of that period, they serve other fried items like horse mackerel fry. In October, you get smaller oysters, about 7-8 pieces, but in the current season (April), you get 3-4 oysters. The taste varies depending on the season." ★This review is based on the blog article mentioned at the beginning. For more details, please refer to the blog article.

I underestimated it. Since the season is ending, I'll eat a lot of oysters. Even though they were described as big, I didn't expect them to be this huge. Each oyster probably contains about 4.5 oysters. Maybe. The size of a fist varies from person to person, so it's better to say it's the size of a tennis ball. Anyway, they are huge! But the batter is crispy, and the oysters are fluffy and delicious, so I can easily eat them. Thinking about balance, I wish there was more cabbage. The rice is quite soft. Maybe they cooked it in a rice cooker? I think it would be better if it was a bit firmer for the oyster fry. The miso soup has large pieces of burdock, daikon, and carrots. The miso flavor is mild. They were already sold out of oyster fry after 1:00 PM. I'm glad I made it in time. It looks like the oyster fry is available until April 28th.

This is a must-visit restaurant once a year, but this season it became so popular that I always ended up leaving when I saw the long line. However, today, to my surprise, there was no waiting time at all. I thought they might be closed temporarily, but they were open as usual, and I was super lucky. I ordered 3 pieces and waited for about 10 minutes, and as always, the delicious fried oysters were right in front of me. I enjoyed it just like always. Looking forward to visiting again next season.
