Since moving to Tsukiji, I have visited various sushi restaurants, but Tsukiji Sushisei stood out. Despite being the oldest and most prestigious establishment in the Tsukiji Outer Market, it took me a while to finally visit. Upon entering the main store, I found it packed, so I was directed to the second floor where another Tsukiji Sushisei is located. I sat at the counter seat on the right end and decided to leave the selection of sashimi to the chef. I was served a delicious assortment of sumiika, ark shell, sardine, tuna, and flounder. I was intrigued by the recommended shirako, and to my surprise, they brought it out for me. Since it was a cold day, I requested a shochu with umeshu and hot water. After enjoying the sashimi, I asked for a nigiri set of about 5 pieces as I had plans to visit another restaurant later. The chutoro was impeccable, and the kinmedai was lightly seared with salt, bursting with flavor. The akami had a fantastic texture, while the beautifully arranged mackerel melted in my mouth. The horse mackerel sushi was outstanding, and the anago was served with both salt and sauce for a perfect finish. Tsukiji sushi restaurants are generally of high quality, but Tsukiji Sushisei truly stood out with their skilled chefs and delightful conversation. I will definitely be back!

In September, when the COVID-19 situation had calmed down a bit and foreign visitors were still restricted from entering the country, I visited Tsukiji. The inner market area was still being demolished and many shops had closed down in the outer market, which left me feeling a bit melancholic. However, the place was still bustling with people in the morning. I purchased some seafood I was looking for and had lunch at Sushisei. I had reserved a table on the second floor, but it seemed like the second floor was treated as a separate restaurant, with a sushi counter as well. I ordered the omakase lunch sushi for 3800 yen. The appetizer was Wakasagi escabeche, and the sushi included white fish like kamasu, tako, akami and chutoro, hoya, shiba ebi, and anago, all of which were delicious. The special items were simmered abalone and sashimi king crab. It was surprising that there was no uni or ikura. Overall, the lunch was worth the price. A complimentary bowl of soup was also served.

I went to a sushi restaurant called Takumi in Tsukiji and paid 2,571 yen. I had a draft beer and cold sake along with various sushi dishes like medium fatty tuna, horse mackerel, sweet shrimp, shrimp with roe, egg, salmon roe, sea bream, sea urchin, and conger eel. They also served complimentary miso soup. The first floor is for sushi only, while the second floor offers both sushi and rice bowls. The main branch of the restaurant is located on the same street, and there was a nice line of people waiting. It was a fun experience.

I visited Tsukiji Outer Market in the morning. I wanted to eat sushi, so I leisurely looked around until I found a shop with a line forming outside. I decided to target this shop. It was listed as two separate shops on Tabelog, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. I was guided to the second floor, where the menu seemed to be slightly different, with some items exclusive to the second floor. Since I came with the purpose of eating breakfast, I ordered the "Wa" set (I think it was 1500 yen). The good quality ingredients had no fishy smell and the fat was just right without being too heavy. Each piece of sushi tasted fresh and had a clear flavor. Even the rolled omelette tasted different from the usual ones. The miso soup with shrimp broth was also delicious. Additionally, the bonito I ordered as a seasonal item was extremely tasty!

It's been quite a while since I visited, back in July last year. This might be the oldest review in my current stock. I visited this place as a finishing touch after enjoying sushi and shopping at Tsukiji. Originally, I was waiting in line for the opening of Tsukiji Sushikiyoshi Tsukiji Honten, but was guided to the second floor by the staff and ended up here. It's located almost across from Matsutake, which I reviewed before. The interior of the restaurant is bright and clean, giving off a nice atmosphere. I was seated at the counter and ordered the "Omakase 3500 yen". Each seat has a menu listing the price of each piece, so you can enjoy your meal while checking the prices if you're concerned about them. They serve each piece individually. The quality of the ingredients was good, especially the horse mackerel was delicious. However, both my friend and I noticed that the rice was a bit too firm, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the experience felt a bit rushed. Maybe it was just that day? Unlike Sushidai or Yamazushi where you have to line up for 2-3 hours in the early morning, there was no need for that here. The chefs and staff were friendly, so depending on the circumstances, I might consider visiting again. 😉

This restaurant has a history dating back to the Meiji era and is located outside the Tsukiji market. It has around 20 branches nationwide. The restaurant is divided into two floors, with the entrance to the second floor accessed by an external staircase next to the entrance. According to two acquaintances working in Tsukiji, the second floor is said to have better-tasting food. If the first floor is full during the day, customers are directed to the second floor. The restaurant sources its ingredients from Tsukiji market every morning. I ordered the Daimyo Chirashi for 1500 yen on the second floor, which was limited to that floor. The staff offered to store my perishable items in the refrigerator during my meal, which I found to be a rare and convenient service. The quality of the ingredients in the Chirashi was good, with standout items being the Kanpachi, Tai, and Anago. Overall, I found the meal to be worth the price, especially considering the quality of the seafood. If you are a tourist looking for a seafood bowl outside the market, this restaurant offers a better taste and service. I look forward to trying their sushi next time.

I went to the second floor of Sushi Kiyoshi located outside the market. It was relatively quiet as it was just before noon, and the second floor provided a nice escape from the bustling market atmosphere. I ordered the chef's choice which consisted of 13 pieces of sushi. The rice was the best I have had in Tsukiji so far, with a great texture and flavor. The vinegar was a bit light for my taste, but the size of the rice was just right for me. The chef's technique in shaping the sushi was impressive, ensuring that the air inside the rice was evenly distributed. This place mainly serves sushi that is meant to be enjoyed with soy sauce, which might explain the lighter vinegar flavor. It could be a good option for those who are tired from shopping outside the market. There are also table seats available, allowing for a relaxed dining experience.

I visited this place for the first time in about 10 years. I asked if they could make a fresh, hot thick omelette even though it wasn't on the menu, and they responded, "It's cheaper to buy it in town. We don't have it here. It would be very expensive if we made it here." I was taken aback by the response. I tried a few different sushi items, but unfortunately, the way the vinegar was added was not consistent, so it didn't taste very good. It's a shame that there are no skilled sushi chefs who can make sushi with a crisp touch like before. I used to come to Sushisei often 12-13 years ago, and it was very delicious. There is no trace of that quality anymore, which is disappointing.

I didn't research which restaurant to go to, so I just walked in. I wanted to go to a long-established restaurant, but I didn't know where it was. It seems to be a 3-story building, but I was seated at the counter on the 2nd floor. Most people ordered the lunch limited edition bowl for 1,575 yen, which caught my eye, but since I came all the way to the real Tsukiji, I ordered the omakase nigiri for 3,500 yen. It included flounder, tuna, red snapper, medium fatty tuna, botan shrimp, horse mackerel, sea urchin, salmon roe, kelp with fish eggs, crab, salted conger eel, and simmered conger eel. Everything was delicious. Especially the flounder, sea urchin, and salted conger eel were outstanding. The flounder was very chewy. The sea urchin was simply sweet!!! It seems to be from Shiretoko. The salted conger eel melted in my mouth. The rice wasn't too sweet, it had a salty taste. In Fukuoka, I often find sushi rice to be on the sweeter side, so I enjoyed the refreshing taste. The nori in the battleship rolls was also delicious. If the tea was a bit tastier, it would have been perfect. I chatted with the sushi chef the whole time. He was very friendly and it was a lot of fun.

Late March 2010, noon. First time at this restaurant today. I was originally planning on going for Italian food this morning, but couldn't make up my mind. Eventually, I decided to go to Tsukiji for a change and took the train there. I arrived around 12:30, and it was raining, but there were still quite a few tourists around. Since I didn't have a specific place in mind, I decided to visit a familiar place where I knew the chef. I ordered fresh scallops, bonito, scallop grilled with seaweed, and tuna steak for appetizers. For sushi, I had anglerfish, flounder, small skin fish, squid, and a couple more. I also had a Kirin beer and some high-quality sake. I enjoyed the scallops, and since it's close to Tsukiji, the ingredients were fresh. The total cost was around 6400 yen, which was reasonable. It's a well-established restaurant in Tsukiji, and I think it's a good place for a casual sushi meal.

I had always wanted to visit Tsukiji Market and eat sushi, but I never got around to it until now. I woke up early for a business trip and took a taxi from Shinjuku, which only took about 30 minutes. It was surprisingly close. I arrived around 9 am and first walked around the market, which was bustling and fun to explore. I highly recommend it to everyone. Then I headed to the sushi restaurant inside the market that I had been aiming for, but some of them had long lines. I wasn't sure if I wanted to wait, so I asked a staff member at a nearby tamagoyaki shop. They told me that the restaurants with long lines inside the market are all featured in tourist magazines and advertisements, so they mainly cater to tourists. When I asked if there were any good restaurants nearby, they recommended a longstanding place just outside the market. I walked a few minutes and found the restaurant they mentioned. I waited for about 10 minutes inside, but didn't have to wait in line to eat. They had set menus and a la carte options with clear prices displayed. The sushi chef was friendly and we had a good time chatting. They also had some rare and interesting items not listed on the menu, which we tried while chatting. There were also some unique items. There were many local regulars, and when I asked for the same thing they were ordering, it was delicious. The tourist-targeted restaurants had high prices and long waits, so be careful not to be misled.

Located in a corner of the outer market of Tsukiji, this two-story restaurant has separate entrances for each floor. The interior is quite clean and gives a different impression from the other shops in the market. I ordered a set priced at 1980 yen, which seemed to be some kind of commemorative special. The chefs behind the counter were quietly preparing the sushi. Despite visiting Tsukiji for the third time, I noticed that there were many foreign visitors. I enjoyed a beer with my companion, wondering why this place has become so popular. The daytime beer was surprisingly delicious. Overall, the sushi had good quality and freshness, although the texture was a bit firm for my taste. However, considering the price, the taste and portion size were reasonable. While I may not go out of my way to revisit, I think it's worth considering as an option if you're in the area.

If you want to eat delicious sushi outside of Tsukiji Market, this is the place to go. While it's nice to try the chef's choice set, it's worth it to choose your own sushi here. Nearby Ginza may cost you a few bills, but here you can eat to your heart's content at a reasonable price. The seasonal fish selection is excellent, with delicious sardines, horse mackerel, halibut, summer shinko, cured mackerel, saury, and herring available at their best. Tuna varies depending on the day, but for the price, you can enjoy good quality. Depending on the season, you can also find fresh clams, firefly squid, seaweed rolls, sea bream, and golden eye snapper. My personal favorite way to end the meal is with eel and pickled plum rolls.

I had only been to the first floor before, but I heard that the second floor was also good, so I took my friend who lives overseas there. It's similar to the first floor, but I like the rice texture and size. I've been to various sushi restaurants in Tsukiji, but so far, I think this one is the best in this price range.

The atmosphere here is lively and bustling in a good way, unlike the main Tsukiji market shops. Perhaps because it's on the second floor, it's relatively spacious. The cost performance is excellent, both here and at the main store. You can enjoy a lunch omakase for just over 3,000 yen. Tuna, tamago, aoyagi... you can savor plenty of high-quality ingredients.

I'm not sure if it's because of its location in Tsukiji, but this restaurant seems to have its own "commitment". However, personally, I feel that the sushi rice lacks impact. It's too light for my taste, and I don't feel satisfied after eating it. I thought that places like Yoshino Sushi in Nihonbashi, which also serve light sushi, don't have this issue. Considering the quality of the fish, I would give it 3 stars, but people always expect to eat delicious sushi in Tsukiji. In that sense, I would rate it 2 stars.

But in reality, I am a complete beginner who has never really been to a sushi restaurant before. Well, I did go to a Hinazushi (all-you-can-eat) place a long time ago... That's why I asked the chef for recommendations for everything. Since I was sitting at the counter, might as well. Thanks to that, I was able to try things like shako and kohada, which I had never eaten before, and I was satisfied. I also love shiny things, so I ordered some sashimi with that. Uni and anago, as well as some familiar items. The thick tamago was delicious too. I feel kind of silly. The atmosphere was pleasantly chaotic and I felt relaxed. It's probably obvious, but it's a non-smoking restaurant, so you have to go outside to smoke. Maybe it's a good thing that I smoked less? I'm not sure about the price since I was treated.

I went on Saturday night. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and relaxing. My sister and I each had one piece of squid, tuna, scallop, eel, horse mackerel, cured mackerel, flounder, salmon roe, medium fatty tuna, and miso soup, all for 3000 yen per person. The price is similar to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but the quality is great. The rice was a bit bland, but the fish was delicious.

The restaurant is always crowded during peak hours. The main store has a long line extending from the front of the shop to behind the counter, which can be quite overwhelming. However, it's a matter of first come, first served. The chefs behind the counter work quickly to prepare the sushi, but sometimes there may be a delay in serving. Since the second floor store opened, it has been easier to get a seat. The sushi rice is generous and the fish is fresh. The taste is reliable and the prices are reasonable. Truly a taste of Tsukiji.
