It might be the number one taste that you suddenly want to eat (laughs). One of the good things about Mizucho is that the line moves quickly, so you can eat relatively quickly. Isn't it faster than a ramen shop? As always, double egg! Oh, it's delicious whenever you eat it. Thank you for the happiness. The rice is also well coated with sauce, and the sweet and salty rice is the best. I will go again!

I saw this place somewhere and was curious, so I decided to go. Just like the reviews said, more than half of the customers are foreigners, especially Asians. But the turnover is fast. It's faster than popular ramen shops. The small counter is nice. I like this kind of drinking spot, with oden and hot sake. The pork cutlet bowl is crispy and the sweet and savory sauce is rich, making the rice go down easily. There are no table condiments or pickles, it's simple. Thank you for the meal!

Taste: Excellent
The crispy texture of the cutlet is small but has a strong flavor that goes well with rice. It's consistently good and the value has improved since it used to be 1000 yen. I had tonkatsu yesterday, and even though the color is the same, it's so different...

I finally got to visit Tazui-cho, where I had been wanting to go for takeout during the pandemic. It's been really popular with foreigners lately, with lines forming even before opening time, but when I went around 5 pm, I was able to get in without waiting. The dish was crispy and delicious with a sweet and savory sauce. I wish they could implement a system to avoid lines.

Around 2pm. There were so many foreign people lining up that I almost thought I was somewhere else. When it was my turn, the staff came to take my order with an English menu in hand. "What size would you like?," they asked in Japanese, showing they pay attention to their customers. The turnover was quick, and in about 10 minutes, I entered the efficient restaurant. The dish was a bowl of open katsudon. The contrast between the beautiful tonkatsu and the egg was divine. The tonkatsu was crispy and delicious, and the sweet sauce paired well with the rice. It was a tasty meal, but the constant flow of foreign tourists made the atmosphere a bit hectic. Thank you for the meal.

I've been wanting to visit Mizuto-san for a while now. It's a hidden gem in the depths of Shibuya, so far into the backstreets that it hardly feels like Shibuya anymore. It's tucked away in a small building, and it's known for its delicious katsudon. I usually only come here once a year for my annual health check-up, but I happened to be nearby during lunchtime so I decided to pay a visit. My first impression was that it's really small! The restaurant only has a counter with tightly packed chairs, making it difficult to find a seat. Luckily, the person sitting next to me was kind enough to make some space, so I managed to sit down. I ordered the regular katsudon with double eggs. Unlike other katsudon places, the katsudon here is not topped with a scrambled egg but with a fluffy egg on top of the cutlet. However, what really sets Mizuto's katsudon apart is the sweet sauce drizzled over the top. This rich and sweet sauce seeps into the cutlet, egg, and rice, creating an irresistible flavor. Now I have another tough choice to make between Mizuto's katsudon and the fried rice at Rokuraku Han.

I had been curious about this katsudon place for a while and finally went there after 1 pm. I was surprised to see quite a long line, but it only took 10 minutes to eat after waiting for 20 minutes. It felt like fast food. The meat was thin and easy to finish quickly. The sweet and savory sauce soaked into the meat and rice, making it delicious. It's not something I would wait in line for, but it's a taste I wanted to try at least once in my life. It's strange that there were many foreigners. I wonder if it's listed in travel guides. This is not your typical authentic katsudon, so I also recommend trying the tonkatsu at Wako. I just realized that there are also many foreigners at the Wako in Omotesando.

I wanted to try the fried pork cutlet bowl, so I went to Nihonbashi, but it was closed. I ended up going to my second choice here, which was quite far from Shibuya Station where I walked from. It was hot outside, but the iced tea I got was delicious. The pork cutlet bowl was originally supposed to be 1000 yen, but it had increased to 1500 yen, which was quite a jump. You could choose the size of the rice (large, medium, small) for the same price, but the small portion was really small. The rice was cooked perfectly in an old-fashioned gas pot. The miso soup had somen noodles floating in it. Everything was piping hot, which was great. The pork cutlet was thin and there wasn't much of it. The combination of rice, beaten egg, and sweet and savory sauce soaked pork cutlet was really delicious. I should have gone for the medium portion of rice. The flavors were strong, so it would have been enough. There was a sticker on the counter seat saying "silent eating," but the staff weren't wearing masks and were chatting about their evening plans. In the past, this wouldn't have bothered me, but things have changed a bit due to COVID. I think if you're going to talk, it's better to wear a mask. Interestingly, there were more foreign customers on this day.

I found myself wanting to visit this shop again after having to commute to Shibuya for work for a while. I noticed that there was always a line whenever I passed by. Today, I finally decided to come. It was a little past 1 pm and there wasn't a line, so I thought maybe it's not that busy. It turns out people were actually making reservations for specific times. I was asked if waiting for about 40 minutes was okay, and I gladly agreed. I wandered around the area to pass the time and when I returned to the shop, I was seated right away. I ordered the regular size rice with double eggs. Soon enough, the miso soup was served, which was different from the typical tonkatsu shop's red miso soup. Then, the tonkatsu arrived in all its golden, crispy glory when the lid was lifted from the bowl. This crispy tonkatsu is really something. Thank you for the meal.

There were two people waiting in line around 2 pm, as there were many overseas customers. The restaurant is very small as mentioned in advance, so it is not recommended for those who want to eat slowly. If you have a strong craving for katsudon and want something with a bold and clear flavor, you will be very satisfied. In terms of cost performance, considering the recent price increase, it is somewhat satisfying but not overwhelmingly so. The taste is rich, with a distinct separation between the sauce and egg flavors, which I personally enjoyed. However, when comparing it to the katsudon at chain restaurants that cost around 800 yen, it may not be a place you want to visit frequently. It's worth a visit for those who have heard about it and want to try it, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. Also, it's quite far from Shibuya Station, so it can be tough to get there in the hot weather right now! 😄

I arrived at the restaurant and made a reservation. I arrived around 4:30 and waited for about 30 minutes. I sat at the counter and was asked if I wanted a large, medium, or small portion of rice with my katsudon. I ordered a medium portion. They fry the katsu after taking the order. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to come out. It was my first time trying katsudon where the katsu was placed on top of beaten egg with the sauce. The katsu was crispy, and the taste of the sauce and the texture of the rice were just to my liking. It was very delicious. It seems like each set from sitting down to finishing the meal takes about 20 minutes.

Zuikou in Shibuya is always crowded and difficult to get into, but I managed to enter today by arriving before opening at 11:45. Their katsudon is unique, not a typical egg and sauce dish. The sauce is sweet and savory, and the egg is not scrambled but more like the egg on teppanyaki. It's a bit disappointing that there are no onions, but overall, the katsudon here is delicious.

There is always a long line from the morning. Today, when I went around 2 pm, there were only 5 people in line - a group of 4 foreigners and 1 man, so I decided to wait. They take your order while you're in line, so the turnover is very fast. I waited for 10 minutes, and once I got seated, the katsudon arrived in just 5 minutes! The katsudon was priced at 1500 yen, and with double eggs it was an additional 100 yen, making it a total of 1600 yen. The katsudon arrived in a bowl with an overflowing look, making a strong impression. The taste is straightforward, with a mix of yakitori sauce and egg katsu. It was crispy and delicious. Personally, if it was 1000 yen, I would consider coming back, but at 1600 yen, I think a regular katsudon at a chain restaurant like Katsuya would suffice. It's worth lining up for once as a conversation starter, and it's tasty too. However, the balance between taste and price is a bit delicate.

Specializing in katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl), this restaurant serves a katsudon with sweet sauce on top of the egg. Although the prices have increased slightly, the dish is still worth it considering how affordable it was originally. Recently, there seems to be a lot of foreign tourists dining here due to the increase in inbound travelers. Reservations are accepted, but if you prefer to avoid long lines, it may be a good idea to visit during off-peak hours.

Around 1 o'clock, there was a foreign family in front of us, but we were able to enter without much of a wait. The majority of the customers seemed to be foreigners. The thin pork cutlet with egg and sweet sauce was delicious, but I think around 1000 yen would be a fair price. I don't plan on visiting again.

I run ramen shops, fried chicken shops, bakeries, dessert shops, etc., so I eat out whenever I have free time to study every day. The balance of tonkatsu and sauce was very good and I enjoyed it until the end. We shared three types of meat with friends and tried them all, but the most expensive one was the most delicious! However, even the cheapest one is definitely worth trying.

The real grilled pork cutlet bowl with tonkatsu on top of the egg is delicious, with the perfect harmony of meat thickness and sauce flavor. I love gourmet activities, especially dishes like katsudon, niboshi ramen, aged sushi, 100% buckwheat risotto, pasta, and raw meat dishes. This is a diary of my daily life and hobby postings. I would be happy if you could follow me casually ⭐️

Opened in 2013 in a back alley near the heart of Shibuya, "Katsudon-ya Zuicho" quickly gained popularity with word-of-mouth and became a must-visit spot with long queues. Their menu offers only one option: katsudon! You can choose from "small, regular, or large" rice portions. The simplicity of the dish is what makes it so good. While the usual katsudon is topped with a scrambled egg, at this restaurant, the katsu is placed on top of a thin omelet, allowing you to enjoy the crispy texture of the breading. Seating at the counter is recommended for a smooth dining experience, especially for solo diners. Highly recommended!

I arrived at around 2 pm on a regular day and found many foreign customers waiting in line, but I didn't have to wait long to be seated. The turnover is fast, even though the seating is limited. The service is quick, and you finish eating fast too, so I think the turnover rate is good. The flavor is on the sweeter side with a sweet sauce, not really a dashi flavor. You can also add toppings like double egg. I ordered a double with miso soup and tea for 1500 yen. It was delicious, but nothing extraordinary. I think it's worth trying once.

Before I knew it, it had been 7 years since my last visit! The prices had increased from 1000 yen to 15000 yen, but the deliciousness of the "katsudon" remains the same. I added a +100 yen "tamago double" which was a fried pork cutlet dipped in slightly sweet sauce on top of an egg. The crispy texture of the freshly fried cutlet was still there. The elegant taste of the miso soup that didn't quite match with the "katsudon" was also enjoyable. I had a delicious meal.

I had been wanting to eat there for a while but couldn't make it for some reason. Finally, I was able to go. When I went on a weekday before noon, there were about 5 or 6 groups waiting in line. I ordered the katsudon with extra rice and the double egg. The double egg is a style where you put it in a box when you enter the restaurant. The katsudon didn't have a crispy texture but the sauce had soaked in well, making it easy to eat in one go.
