グルマン大島
January 30, 2013, 3PM, Japanese Souzai in Tokyo
Hello everyone! My name is G Takao, and I enjoy taking walks in various shopping streets. I am not an old man, nor am I someone who comforts himself (laughs). I am a G grandfather, which is the alphabet G in Gourmet Oshima.
From Kitasenju towards Senju Shinbashi, cross the first intersection diagonally to the left. Just ahead, you will find the Yumerodo Chiyoda shopping street, which exudes a Showa-era atmosphere. If you walk about 100m down this Chiyoda shopping street, you will find a tamagoyaki specialty store on the left. The name of this store is Yamao Shoten, and it seems that they mainly wholesale to sushi restaurants. While wholesale is their main focus, they also sell retail items displayed in the showcase at the storefront. They offer three sizes of tamagoyaki: small for 315 yen, medium for 420 yen, and large for 630 yen. As a member of the Dekamori Detective Agency, I naturally purchased the largest tamagoyaki for 630 yen. I brought it home, thoroughly inspected it (measured and weighed), and then enjoyed it (laughs).
The large tamagoyaki measures 21cm in length, 13cm in width, 3cm in thickness, and weighs 600g (including the container). The tamagoyaki has a moderate browning, is not fluffy but rather moist, and has a subtle sweetness with a hint of bonito dashi flavor, similar to a rolled omelette. It has a light seasoning, making it suitable for eating as is. However, it may not be the best choice as a side dish with rice. If you intend to eat it as a side dish, I recommend adding wasabi soy sauce. Rating: ★★★
