This time, the restaurant I chose for lunch on this tour is "Aji Katsu Main Store". After reading reviews from everyone, it was one of the places I really wanted to visit. I learned about the restaurant from a local TV show featuring miraculous gourmet food and a certain comedian, so I knew I had to go as soon as possible. (The restaurant was featured on the former show quite a while ago, but I found out about it this year.) By the way, the name of the restaurant has "Main Store" in it, but as far as I could find, there doesn't seem to be any branch locations. I wonder if there used to be one in the past. Customers started coming in one after another from opening time! Some customers immediately ordered the "○○ set meal!" as soon as they entered the restaurant! They spoke in a familiar way, so they must be regulars. You can really feel how beloved this place is by the local community! The set meal I ordered was the "Menchi Katsu and Stamina Set Meal with Demi-Glace Sauce (¥950)". The rice portion was small! Menchi Katsu is a specialty of Aji Katsu, and I felt like I had to try it. But I also wanted to try other meat dishes, so I chose the Stamina (ginger pork) as mentioned earlier. Originally, I planned to have a combination of Menchi Katsu and Hire Katsu. However, I rarely eat pork ginger stir-fry when dining out, so I decided to try it this time! About 10 minutes later, the eagerly awaited set meal was served! The Menchi Katsu is huge! Unlike the large size, it consists of three thick slices of Menchi Katsu, each of which is quite heavy when picked up with chopsticks! This was a pleasant surprise, and I would love to try this thick Menchi Katsu in a Katsu-don style. In fact, at "Aji Katsu", they serve a Katsu-don called "Golden Bridge" using the same Katsu as this Menchi Katsu, right? Besides Menchi Katsu, they also serve tonkatsu, so I'm curious! Going off on a tangent, let's get back to the taste. Most of the Menchi Katsu is soaked in Demi-Glace sauce, giving it a moist texture throughout, not crispy, and highlighting the taste of the meat. The sauce does not interfere with the taste of the Menchi Katsu, and both flavors coexist nicely! You can enjoy the crispy texture in the parts where the sauce is not soaked, so no need to worry about it being soggy. The Stamina, on the other hand, is stir-fried in a sweet and savory sauce, with a rich flavor. Due to its thin slices, the taste of the sauce takes precedence, but it also goes well with rice! It has a comforting flavor that reminds you of home-cooked meals and I like it! When dining out for meat dishes, we often tend to focus on Katsu or Hamburg, but sometimes it's worth trying something different. Everything is just so delicious! It's also nice that they provide hojicha instead of water. The salad and miso soup are included in the set, and even at less than 1000 yen, it feels like a great deal. As expected from a long-established Western-style restaurant, you can enjoy elaborate dishes at a reasonable price, and I hope they continue to operate for a long time! I would like to try their pasta next time, but I also want to visit various other restaurants, so if there are any locals or regulars, please feel free to recommend other places! Thank you for the delicious meal.
