Recently, my favorite izakaya in the local area of Fuchu. The small interior is very clean and has a calming atmosphere. It is run by two women who provide excellent service and are very kind. Cheers with a tomato shochu highball-like drink. Oden is served as a complimentary appetizer. The oden has a great broth and is delicious. The menu is filled with charming dishes that have a home-cooked feel with an extra touch. On this day, I ordered stir-fried live kurage with pork and egg, and special motsu stew. The stir-fried live kurage with pork and egg was visually appealing with plenty of pork, fluffy egg, crunchy live kurage, and fresh green peppers. The sesame oil aroma is exquisite. The special motsu stew is miso-based with tender motsu and plenty of simmered vegetables. The umami flavor is rich. They also have a great selection of sake! I didn't have much this day as it was our second stop, but on a visit a few days later, we enjoyed kakiage, tonkatsu, and chicken karaage, all of which were delicious. They also serve sashimi beautifully arranged for the number of people in the group. The crepe for dessert is visually appealing and delicious. I regret not going earlier.

A cozy izakaya hidden quietly on the north side of Banba Kita Ura-dori. It's the second building on the right from the lights of the two buildings. Inside, there is a small izakaya with a counter in the front and tables in the back. I started with a draft lemon sour and umeshu. The appetizer and umeshu were tastier than I had imagined. For the main dish, I had homemade pizza. Since it was too big for one person, they offered a smaller size. The sake menu was also good. Today, I tried Aragoshi Konwa from Akita and Rakuichi Masamune from Yamagata. The original pizza was delicious with plenty of toppings. It's a nice place that I would like to visit regularly.

I had imagined a Japanese izakaya from the name of the restaurant. They offer a variety of dishes, but more on the Western side rather than traditional Japanese. Everything I tried was delicious, although the prices were a bit high, it was worth it! They had a great selection of sake, but I had to resist because I had to get up early the next day. Even though it's an izakaya, they serve authentic crepes for dessert! I can't believe I found another great restaurant.

Near the intersection of the old Koshu Kaido and Fuchu Kaido. About halfway between JR Fuchu-Honmachi Station and Keio Line Fuchu Station. The narrow interior of the shop has 6 counter seats in the front. In the back, there are two 4-person tables and one 2-person table. There is a small kitchen behind the counter, operated by two women. Wi-Fi is available. The menu mainly consists of about 30 handwritten daily specials, with a focus on seafood and vegetables, ranging from 500 yen to 1,000 yen per dish. When you order, they prepare and serve the dishes quickly. Despite the small kitchen, they offer various cooking methods such as frying, sashimi, tempura, simmered dishes, and stir-fries. Although the refrigerator is small, they have a variety of ingredients prepared. There is a blackboard outside with several recommended dishes listed. It's easy to consult and enjoyable to talk with the staff before ordering in the bright atmosphere. They have about 20 types of sake, priced around 1,000 yen per serving. They serve it in a small tokkuri and ochoko set, showing you the label as they pour. For the finale, they grill rice balls and make ochazuke. The rice balls are displayed on a large plate on the counter, sometimes including inari-zushi. A casual and pleasant small izakaya. Closed on Sundays, but during the horse racing season, they are closed on Tuesdays. It's a bit disappointing that smoking is allowed inside, but from April 2020, it has become completely non-smoking. Smoking is allowed outside. Due to the small capacity, it's recommended to call ahead for reservations.

Just west of the Konami Sports on Koshu Kaido Street, next to Aoshima Fresh Fish Store and alongside Komazushi, you'll find Kuromame. I actually thought it was the entrance to Komazushi for a long time... The interior of the restaurant is cozy with a counter seating for 6 and tables for 2, 2, and 4. I had the weekday lunch there. The daily lunch menu is displayed on a blackboard outside. On this day, the options were "Grilled saury" and "Udon noodles with eggplant and mushrooms in dipping sauce." The grilled saury cost 800 yen. When you sit at the counter, you are served with a wet towel. A small dish and salad were served. The small dish had a round piece of konjac, slightly spicy and flavorful. The grilled saury was shiny with plenty of sauce, topped with a mountain of grated radish. The sauce was well-cooked and not overpowering, perfect with the deliciously cooked rice. The hearty miso soup was also delicious. It was a meticulously prepared meal that felt like home-cooking. This place seems great for dinner too. In my personal opinion, among the creative izakayas in the area, Kuromame is up there with Tokuto Seki just across the Fuchu Kaido Street.

I was invited by an old drinking buddy to visit this place, which used to be the legendary "Kuwahara". They serve premium malt beer and the appetizer includes black beans, which are delicious. I had the Mebachi maguro red meat and scallops with kelp, paired with sake from Kaiun and Seikyo breweries. The drinkware is beautiful, and I enjoyed choosing my favorite glass for drinking. I also ordered potato salad and foie gras wrapped in chestnut and ham, which left me satisfied. Despite someone smoking nearby, the ventilation was good enough that it didn't bother me. The potato salad and the original menu item "foie gras wrapped in chestnut and ham" were more delicious than the sashimi. Especially the "foie gras wrapped in chestnut and ham" was a fantastic collaboration of anglerfish liver, chestnut sweetness, and ham saltiness. I highly recommend this place. My only suggestion would be to improve the sourcing of the sashimi.

On July 6, 2011, at 11:30 AM, I visited a restaurant in Fuchu for lunch. I had decided to revisit this restaurant, which I had previously visited on September 9, 2009. The restaurant had recently relocated, and I was eager to try their new location. The lunch options included Kinmedai chirashi with side dishes, salad, and clear soup, as well as soupless tantanmen with side dishes, salad, and soup, both priced at 800 yen. I opted for the Kinmedai chirashi, which was delicious and refreshing. The side dish of simmered potatoes, salad, and egg soup were all well-prepared and tasty. The overall meal was healthy and well-balanced, a nice change from the usual oily and salty dishes I often eat. The coffee served in a stylish Japanese tea cup and the homemade "Korokoro cookies" were a delightful way to end the meal. I enjoyed a relaxing and delicious lunch experience at this restaurant and look forward to returning in the future.

The rainy season ended earlier than usual, and now it's getting hot! And you know what's great in this weather? Beer! And when it comes to beer, you gotta have some edamame. Every year around this time, I go to the direct sales market at the local agricultural cooperative in Fuchu to buy some edamame. They're a bit pricey, but they are plump and flavorful. Of course, boiling them with salt is delicious, but soaking them in cooled boiled water for a day and night, like a light pickle, is also tasty. And making them into tempura is just amazing. So, aiming for that delicious edamame, I went to Fuchu today and decided to review the lunch I had there. The place is called Kuromame, run by a woman who loves eating and cooking so much that she quit her job to start this restaurant. It's located at the corner where the international street extending from Fuchu Station meets Fuchu Road. The lunch options are either "A" or "B," and they change daily. A Lunch - Braised Pork Bowl / 800 yen: Rice topped with plenty of chopped seaweed, watercress, braised pork, braised egg, and grated yam. The side dish includes simmered vegetables like bamboo shoots, carrots, and fish cakes. The salad consists of boiled eggs, cucumbers, onions, and potato salad. It's simple but delicious, with a homey taste. B Lunch - Slimy Somen Noodles / 800 yen: Mainly natto and okra, with somen noodles, fried mochi, onsen tamago, tempura flakes, grated daikon, ginger, and seaweed sprinkles. Mix it all up and slurp it down for a satisfying meal. You can also add coffee and dessert for an extra 100 yen with your lunch. The restaurant has a small space with 6-7 counter seats and a few small tables. It's a cozy atmosphere, and I'd like to visit for dinner sometime since it's an izakaya.

This is my first visit after the relocation. The restaurant used to be located on the outskirts of Kokusai Street, a lively area, but it seems to have moved to its current address at some point. I wonder what was here before... I think there used to be a sushi restaurant. Next door, there is a restaurant called Ikunos, which seems to be the only one in Fuchu that offers Mediterranean cuisine. I randomly walked in on this day, and when I expressed my interest, they prepared a table in the back for me. It's a small izakaya, more like a small Japanese-style pub, with a few counter seats and only two tables in the back. The atmosphere seems unchanged from before, with large plate dishes displayed on the counter. I ordered various dishes, such as tempura with sakura shrimp, clams steamed in sake, daikon and scallop salad, simmered cod roe, sashimi (horse mackerel, squid, scallop), fried chicken, rolled omelette, and more. The quality of the dishes was simple yet satisfying, especially the sashimi was surprisingly good. The sake selection was impressive, with about 15-16 different brands available. I ended up trying a few different types, and the owner even let me choose a different sake cup with each change. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, making it a valuable choice for a relaxing drink with up to four people.

This is a store I visit about once a week. I started coming here earlier this year, and the counter is just so calming. The menu changes a little bit every day, so each visit is like a fun surprise as I wonder what they have today. The dishes that I especially enjoy at this store are the vegetable dishes. The other day, I had "Red Taro Stew," and I could really taste the flavor of the taro. They only have about 20 types of sake, but there are many that I don't know, so I enjoy learning a little bit each time.

A cozy family-run restaurant on the outskirts of Fuchu! The small shop is run by a mom and a female part-time worker, with a counter and three table seats. The homemade dishes by the mom are delicious, especially the chicken wings! The menu changes daily, which is nice. The prices are very reasonable and you can enjoy a drink in a calm atmosphere. The shop may be a bit hard to find as it's in an alley, but I definitely want to visit again.

As a female owner, the restaurant was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. Both the lunch and dinner were delicious. The lunch menu changes daily and there are only two options, priced around 800 yen (I had the minced chicken hamburger bowl). The menu seemed a bit limited, especially in terms of drinks. There were not many options for alcohol, especially for women (I could only find cassis and yogurt liqueur cocktails). Unfortunately, I stopped going after receiving undercooked fried chicken once. It's a shame because I didn't dislike the place.

I visit this restaurant once a week, both during the day and at night. The owner, a woman who turned her love for cooking into a business, always greets me with a smile. The interior is clean and has a feminine touch. You can enjoy comforting home-cooked dishes like grilled fish, simmered vegetables, and tempura. The portions are quite generous, so it's a good idea to confirm the amount when ordering. It's a small restaurant, perfect for a relaxed drink with a small group. The drink menu mainly consists of beer (Premium Malt) and sweet potato shochu. If you're looking for a wide variety of drinks, this may not be the place for you. At lunchtime, you can choose from two daily specials with a couple of side dishes, offering a well-balanced meal. I find myself coming back here often.

April 22nd (Tuesday) revisited. I went again today. My evaluation remains the same. Today, I ordered the A lunch, which was simmered mackerel (800 yen) with coffee & dessert (+100 yen). The B lunch was natto udon, but since I don't like natto, I had to give up on that. One of the cakes for dessert was sold out, so I had black bean ice cream instead. The A lunch included two small side dishes, sesame-flavored vegetable simmer, broccoli and egg salad, main dish (simmered mackerel), rice, miso soup, and pickles. The taste was still elegant home-cooked style and delicious. The menu is creative and makes me want to visit regularly. However, the biggest charm of this restaurant is the hospitality. The staff is very friendly, and it truly is a great place. There are many places with good service, but few truly make you feel welcomed. This restaurant is one of those few. And that hospitality is reflected in their food as well. In that sense, this is a place I would want to visit again. Honestly, I give 4 stars just for the friendly greeting. My rating of service (hospitality) at 4 stars compared to 4.5 stars is quite different. April 15th (Tuesday) visit. Finally, I was able to enter the restaurant after wanting to for a long time. I couldn't get in last time because the lunch was sold out. I decided to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews from everyone, and it was worth it. As everyone mentioned, there are two lunch options (both 800 yen). The A lunch was sold out (it was tsukemen), so I automatically got the B lunch. Today's B lunch was Italian somen. It came with two small side dishes and rice. I also ordered coffee & dessert (+100 yen). One of the desserts, the pudding, was sold out, so I had ice cream instead. I was a bit curious about the pudding (I wonder if it was delicious). But the fact that you get coffee & dessert for +100 yen is a great deal. There were two women running the place. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, and I think they have a good sense of style. They even had knee blankets under the counter, showing a thoughtful touch. The staff's service was friendly and very likable. First, water came out with a hand towel. The lemon water was refreshing. Then, two small side dishes were served. One was a salad, and the other was a simmered dish. The salad was like a macaroni salad with somen. It matched well with the main dish and was delicious. The simmered dish had a comforting taste, like home-cooked food. The main dish, Italian somen, was like cold pasta but with somen noodles in tomato sauce with a half-cooked egg and kaiware. It was delicious, and I was impressed by this unique way of eating somen. The rice with shiso furikake was tasty. The ice cream dessert had black beans, as mentioned in the reviews, and had a Japanese flavor that was delicious. The coffee was also good. However, the ice cream (vanilla) and coffee were ordinary ingredients. Still, for 900 yen, I was satisfied. The taste was delicious, but it felt more like home-cooked food than professional cuisine. I hesitated between giving it a 3.5 or 4 for taste, but I went with a strict 3.5. However, I will definitely revisit, and after a few visits, there is a high possibility that I will raise my taste rating. It's not a restaurant to travel far for, but it's highly recommended for those working or living nearby. The dishes seem to vary daily, making it worth visiting regularly. Especially recommended for those craving home-cooked flavors! Lastly, to Debu Iwa-san, your reviews are ===========

I have been to this restaurant about 10 times. The other day, I was the only customer and I asked the owner (a woman) if she had any training in cooking. She replied, "I used to work as an office lady until a year ago. I liked cooking and used to work part-time at a restaurant 1-2 days a week. I wanted to try running my own restaurant, so I took the plunge a year ago." The simple and homely dishes have elements of Italian-style somen and show creativity and good taste. I think the foundation lies in the owner's love for cooking and her desire to have everyone try her food. I really like it. I went for lunch in March 2008 and the food was so delicious that I have been back about 5 times. If I have time, I would like to try dinner as well. The lunch menu usually consists of 2 options: Japanese and noodles. <Lunch Japanese menu example> - Side dish: Dried radish and carrot with mayonnaise sauce - Side dish: Burdock, konjac, and dried shiitake simmered - Pork miso soup (with plenty of ingredients) - Nori roll and inari sushi All this for 800 yen. For an additional 100 yen, you can also get coffee and dessert, such as ice cream with sweet black beans or mini cupcakes. It's satisfying for 900 yen. - They put in extra effort. - Everything is perfectly seasoned with good taste. - I saw the dinner menu, it's affordable. - Watching the owner, you can tell she loves eating and cooking. She cooks with joy. I really like it.

I only go for lunch on weekdays, but sometimes I go there. The contents of A lunch and B lunch are written on the blackboard in front of the store. I might like Western-style dishes quite a bit. They have "Cream Soup Pasta" and "Shrimp Cream Sandwich," among others. There are various options depending on the day. The appetizer served in a small dish is quite elaborate and good. The coffee is also delicious.
