On the way back from Akabane, I came across a stylish coffee shop with a coffee flag that caught my attention. It is located near the Tokyo North Medical Center, between Kita-Akabane Station and Akabane Station on the Saikyo Line. The road from Akabane-dai Tunnel to Kita-Akabane is busy with cars and not many people are walking. The area around this shop has a park in front, so there are many taxi drivers taking restroom breaks. The wall of the shop is painted with various pictures, giving it a trendy atmosphere more like a hidden restaurant than a coffee shop. When I ordered an iced coffee, they also served me a delicious "black sugar chocolate" that paired well with the coffee. It's a taste that black sugar lovers will adore. Since it was hot, the staff kindly brought us cute fans for each person, showing great consideration. Seeing the customer at the next table enjoying the chiffon cake, I couldn't resist and ordered the orange chiffon cake, which was delicious. The sponge cake was fluffy, with just the right amount of sweetness and a fantastic orange aroma. It was a cozy hidden coffee shop that made me feel like I could easily fall asleep. I tried umeboshi chiffon cake for the first time at a cafe. It was light and fluffy like chiffon cake usually is, but with a surprising sourness from the plums. It was delicious, a new and interesting experience.

Last time, I was interested in the chiffon cake set, and although I was a little disappointed that it changed from lemon chiffon cake in August to carrot chiffon cake in September, the carrot cake was unexpectedly delicious and surprising. I don't usually eat chiffon cake, but I didn't expect it to be so soft and fluffy. If this chiffon cake changes flavors every month, it would be something to look forward to. If I lived nearby, I would definitely visit this shop. 😊

Meeting at Tokyo Kita Medical Center, there are not many dining options on the way from Kita-Akabane to Ukima Bridge. I thought about heading straight to the hospital, but unexpectedly found a lovely cafe near the hospital. With a lush green exterior, the cafe offers Mexican cuisine as its specialty. Inside, there is a relaxed atmosphere typical of a cafe. I ordered the famous taco set with tea. Although I prefer hard tacos, the soft chicken tacos were delicious but a bit lacking in portion. I was tempted to add a chiffon cake to my order, but decided to resist as there were other events happening that day. It was a heartwarming neighborhood cafe with charming exterior and great service.

The cafe is located on a long dog walking course. During cherry blossom season, the cherry blossom trees in front of the store are truly beautiful. You can enjoy a few hundred meters of cherry blossom arches. This year, I didn't have time to stop by the store when the cherry blossoms were blooming, but when I took a detour in the morning to enjoy the cherry blossoms before going to work, it was a stunning light pink haze. I'm not sure if you can see the cherry blossoms from the window of the store, as I have never been there during that time. The cafe is located on the first floor of an apartment building, with a quiet appearance that might make you wonder, "Is this a cafe?" When you enter, the smell of coffee tickles your nose. I have only visited the cafe for lunch with my husband, and my favorite is the pasta set, which I have never ordered anything else. There are two types of pasta, tomato and salt. The tomato pasta is a simple pomodoro, and the salt pasta is a Japanese-style with clams, mushrooms, and bacon. The noodles are fresh pasta, chewy and delicious. They can give you a large portion if you request it. I'm not sure if there is an additional charge for a large portion, as my husband always pays while I leave the table (laughs). After the meal, you get dessert and coffee. (Correction: It seems that there is an additional charge for the coffee, maybe 400 yen?) I have had the dessert several times, and it is always a simple jelly that is delicious. It seems like you could eat as much as you want, but the small portion that comes with it is cute and nice. I'm not very knowledgeable about coffee, but I usually can't drink black coffee, yet I find the coffee here fragrant and delicious, so I enjoy it black. You can also sit on the terrace. I would like to spend time with my dog there, but the temperature is never quite right (laughs). It seems to be run by a family, and it's a cozy cafe where you can spend a relaxing time.
