I always wanted to try oyakodon at Tsukiji. I parked my car at a nearby parking lot during work. It was around 11:30 am on a weekday. The place was already full, but I was able to sit down in about 5 minutes. There were regular oyakodon and special oyakodon options, and without asking what the difference was, I decided to go with the special one with chicken liver. As soon as I took a bite, I let out a sigh. It was delicious! I always thought that oyakodon was about tasting the sauce first, but the flavor of the chicken slowly spread in my mouth, followed by the sauce seeping out from the edges. It truly is a chicken rice bowl. The half-cooked egg was perfect. The liver was soaked in flavor, providing a chewy texture along with the soy-based sauce. It contrasted nicely with the juicy chicken meat. I tried to savor the flavors slowly, but I couldn't help but devour it. That's how delicious it was.

I visited the restaurant around 7:35 am on a weekday. There were 3 customers ahead of me and 2 customers behind me. There were about 5 seats at the counter and 2 tables. You can see into the kitchen from the first 2 counter seats, but unfortunately, I couldn't see it from my seat. I ordered the Oyakodon (regular size for 1100 yen). It was served in just over 5 minutes because there were other orders as well. It looked beautiful! First, I tried a mouthful of the chicken broth. It was delicious and flavorful. I also enjoyed the Oyakodon as it was. The fluffy and tender egg was perfect! I also tried changing the flavor with the yuzu peel and shichimi on the table. It was a hearty meal from the morning, but with the side dishes, I didn't get tired of it until the end! Thank you for the meal.

A chicken dish restaurant located in Tsukiji Market that specializes in chicken meat. They have both counter and table seating. Their menu consists of chicken dishes such as oyakodon and tori-don. In the summer, the recommended dish is the Oyakodon Shio (regular 1,100 yen) which has a tender egg with a hint of yuzu flavor. While they also offer the higher grades for 1,300 yen and 1,500 yen, the regular one might be sufficient. It comes with a rich chicken soup with green onions, which is delicious. The price used to be 900 yen, but it seems they have raised it by 200 yen, probably due to the addition of small appetizers like pickled vegetables and minced chicken. In the winter, they offer a chicken soup-based dish called Mizutaki, which is also recommended.

I was recommended by a contact at a business partner and had lunch there. I tried the parent and child rice bowl, which was delicious with juicy chicken, rich egg, and rice soaked in egg. The accompanying soup was chicken broth, rich yet refreshing, and also delicious. I was very satisfied with the lunch!

Visited Torito located right at the entrance of Tsukiji Outer Market. Ordered the Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) for 1100 yen (as of September 23). This shop specializes in wholesaling chicken meat, and their Oyakodon is quite popular. This was my second visit, and I arrived around 11:40 am expecting a line, but luckily there were only about 5 groups of overseas customers waiting. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was seated at the counter. The restaurant has 2 table seats and around 4 counter seats. I ordered their famous soy sauce flavored Oyakodon. The price had increased by about 150 yen since my last visit, probably due to the high cost of eggs. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, and the appearance of the runny egg yolk was very appetizing. The egg yolk was mixed slightly, and the color was vibrant. First, I tried the soup which had a delicious chicken broth flavor. Then I moved on to the Oyakodon. It was delicious. The sweet and rich sauce was made from a chicken white soup base simmered for a day according to their website. The sauce had soaked into the fresh and tender chicken meat, bringing out the flavor of the chicken beautifully. I couldn't help but devour the dish. This experience made me realize how flavorful Oyakodon can be when made with quality ingredients and skilled techniques. I will definitely visit again.

Tokyo Tsukiji Outer Market Torimeshi Toritoh branch I wanted to have lunch at Tsukiji Outer Market, so I arrived here from Kobe early in the morning. The chicken was incredibly juicy, and the egg was perfectly soft and delicious! I would love to visit again if I have the chance. 😊 #TsukijiOuterMarket #ToritohBranch

Morning ⭐️ Foodlog 3.57 ⭐️ Oyakodon (regular size) ¥1,100. The highest temperature is expected to be 36°C in August 2023. I visited around 9 am on a weekday. Originally, I planned to go to "Kitsuneya," but it was too hot for outdoor dining, so I changed to this place where I could cool off. The restaurant was almost full, and there were many foreign tourists enjoying their sightseeing. It's a great economic effect. Torifuji is located in the Tsukiji Outer Market and was established in 1907. Being a long-standing chicken wholesaler, their chicken dishes are undoubtedly delicious. The Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) was served promptly after about 10 minutes of ordering. At first glance, the portion seemed small. The Oyakodon, made from whole chickens delivered from various regions, is tender and juicy. The half-cooked eggs from Oku-Kuji are fluffy and delicious with a slightly sweet broth. The Mitsuba (trefoil) is a nice accent, and the chicken soup, although light in flavor, is piping hot. They provide original Yuzu-flavored shichimi (seven spice blend) and ichimi (chili pepper) on the table, perfect for adding extra flavor. The Oyakodon was satisfying even at ¥1,100, although it used to be priced below ¥1,000. I'm curious about the classic "shoyu-dare" and the unique "shio" variations for my next visit.

From morning, I went to Chiritori-don shop. I thought Tsukiji Outer Market might be quiet, but no, it was quite lively with locals and tourists alike! I went to Toritou branch near the Tsukiji intersection. They offer different levels of Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) - regular, deluxe, and premium. I chose the premium one. The rice portion was just right and had a rich color. The flavor was on the stronger side. The chicken was tender and there was a decent amount of it, but it didn't feel particularly premium. It's a bit pricey crossing the 2000 yen mark, but I enjoyed it with some chicken soup.

On Saturday, I visited "Tsukiji Jougai" which I had completely avoided for a while. The market has long moved to Toyosu, so this chaotic area is now the essence of Tsukiji itself. Even though it was only 9 am, it was so crowded with inbound tourists that it was impossible to walk. It feels like we are back to pre-COVID times. These tourists are lining up in long queues at "Tsukiji-like" shops for seafood bowls, sushi, grilled fish, and more. However, we decided to visit a nostalgic shop here. "Torimeshi Toritou branch" specializes in chicken dishes, run by a chicken meat wholesaler with over 100 years of history. The main store used to be in Tsukiji, but it has moved to Toyosu. We were able to enter without much wait as a couple. Our orders were already decided. I ordered the "Jou Shio Oyakodon" for 1500 yen, and my wife ordered the "Jou Oyakodon" for 1500 yen. The prices have increased by about 30% recently, probably due to the high cost of eggs. Now, the unique salt version of Oyakodon. Instead of the usual soy sauce, they use chicken broth with sliced local chicken, heat it, season it with salt and yuzu pepper, and then add the egg. It looks very light, but when you taste it, you can feel the rich umami flavor from the broth, making it delicious. Furthermore, the chicken white soup is still rich, which goes well with the salt Oyakodon, and the chicken skin on the side is a nice touch. However, both in terms of quantity and quality, I did not feel the same satisfaction or value as before. Perhaps due to the benefits of the weak yen, many people were ordering the 2100 yen special Oyakodon, while the regular one costs 1100 yen. It seems that the restaurant has become more geared towards tourists, which is quite disappointing.

If you visit around 1 pm on Friday, you may have to wait for a table for a few minutes. The restaurant was already sold out of the chicken and rice bowl, so I ordered the Parent and Child Bowl with salt for 1,100 yen. While waiting in line, they take your order so you can sit down and the food arrives quickly. First, I had the chicken soup. It was gentle and soothing. Next was the Parent and Child Bowl with salt. Even though it's salted, the flavor is rich and you can really taste the chicken and egg. I think next time I'll go for the chicken and rice bowl. Thank you for the meal!

I felt like having chicken soup after a long time, so I went to "Toritou" restaurant. The seafood and street food options are always crowded with customers from overseas. Thankfully, there was only one person waiting at Toritou, so I decided to wait. I was quickly seated at the counter and ordered the chicken soup set with raw egg on the side. The kitchen was bustling with activity, constantly preparing dishes like oyakodon and soup. Thanks to that, the food was served relatively quickly. Finally, my chicken soup set arrived! It came with ponzu sauce and soy sauce on the side. The cabbage was surprisingly large! I took a sip of the soup - delicious! The chicken was tender and flavorful, cooked with bones for an extra depth of taste. Despite the bones being a bit of a hassle, the meat was incredibly tasty. The cabbage was sweet and enjoyable. The ponzu sauce made the chicken even more delicious. The egg on top of rice was large and firm. Mixing it with soy sauce, I had a mouthful - absolutely delicious. I finished the meal with a satisfying bowl of soup and a full stomach. Maybe I'll try the oyakodon next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Tsukiji is crowded with foreign tourists. It was empty because it was a weekday morning. I had torisuki and karaage. The chicken in torisuki was firm with a strong bite. I was expecting softer meat, so it was slightly disappointing. ¥700 seems cheap, but it's worth the price. Next, I will try the oyakodon.

A chicken dish specialty restaurant outside Tsukiji Market. It's always crowded as more people are returning to Tsukiji Market. I sat at the counter and ordered the Oyako Curry (chicken and egg over rice with curry) for 1250 yen. It's a luxurious menu where they use chicken broth to cook both the Oyako Don and curry. Surprisingly, it took over 10 minutes for the food to be served. It was served in a set meal style. The Oyako Don was very soft and the egg was almost not fully cooked. The raw-looking white meat was a bit concerning. The chicken was really delicious, firm yet tender. The slightly sweet seasoning wasn't to my liking, but I think it's a tasty Oyako Don. The curry was mild and sweet, not spicy at all. It seemed like they didn't want it to clash with the Oyako Don. They provided Yuzu Shichimi and Shichimi spices for adjusting the flavor. The compatibility with the Oyako Don wasn't that great. It came with a chicken broth soup, full of chicken flavor and rich taste. The side dish was simmered nanohana and chicken skin. Overall, I felt like it's a menu that's hard to judge its true value with just one try.

From kids to adults, everyone loves Oyakodon. The best place I've tried so far is Toritoh. I visited around noon on a weekday. There were 2 groups waiting in front of me, so I waited for about 15 minutes before entering. I ordered the Salt Oyakodon in a large size at the counter. The regular, medium, and special sizes differ in the type of chicken used. The regular size is a bit small, so the large size was just right. The Salt Oyakodon has a refreshing taste. I want to recommend it to everyone, but I also want to keep this place from getting too crowded. Another delicious meal at Toritoh today.

I visited around 1:20 PM on Monday. There were three of us and we had to wait for about 5 minutes before being seated. We ordered the special chicken and egg rice bowl. The eggs were creamy and the chicken was tender, with a fairly strong seasoning. As someone who enjoys bold flavors, I found it to be an excellent dish. We devoured it quickly and it was gone in an instant! It seems they also have a higher-grade version of the chicken and egg rice bowl, so I want to go back next time to see what the difference is!

This is my first visit. The oyakodon! The special and extreme egg oyakodon were already sold out, so only the regular oyakodon was available. I wanted to try the special or extreme egg oyakodon, but ended up having the regular one. It was delicious, especially the seasoning in the broth. Considering the taste, I think it's excellent value for 950 yen. I would like to revisit to try the special or extreme egg oyakodon. Thank you for the meal.

First visit. A small shop in the alleys of Tsukiji. The parent and child bowl is delicious and fluffy. It's a non-smoking store with no designated smoking area, no alcohol, and no drink menu. The interior is small with 4 counter seats and 2 table seats. The service speed is average. Will definitely visit again.

Today's lunch was with I-kun after a long time. I was planning to eat yakitori donburi at Totoya in Tsukiji, but when I mentioned it, he also wanted to go to Tsukiji. We walked along the Loop Line 2 towards Tsukiji. The inner market has disappeared without a trace, but the redevelopment plan remains up in the air. On the other hand, the outer market is bustling with foreign tourists returning. It's strange to have an outer market without an inner market. At I-kun's request, we changed our destination to Toritou branch. It's a chicken wholesaler's shop that also serves oyakodon. It's been a while for me too, so I was indecisive about what to eat. After a 5-minute wait, we were seated. In the end, I ordered the basic oyakodon with a raw egg topping. I briefly thought, "There are empty seats because it's past 12:30, which is late for lunch," but then I dismissed that idea. This is no longer the outer market. There is no longer a fish market time. Soon, the oyakodon arrived. The egg was perfectly half-cooked, with the white and yolk separated, which I like. The raw egg was a beautiful yellow. Served with chicken broth. It's a proper job that only a chicken shop can do. I made a hollow in the middle of the oyakodon and dropped in the raw egg. It's a silly trick I've learned over the years, but it looks good when the egg yolk is centered. Food and photos are important for appearance. A ladle is also provided for easy eating. I cracked the raw egg with the ladle and mixed it. It was a blissful moment for someone who loves eggs. There were large pieces of chicken throughout. The varying textures from different parts of the chicken were enjoyable. Above all, the chicken and broth were delicious. The rich chicken broth has a strong umami flavor. The chicken broth, rather than the usual clear soup, made me feel like I was finishing a meal at a yakitori restaurant, elevating my mood. I added Toritou's yuzu shichimi and yuzu-infused nanami on the table for a flavor change. The refreshing scent of yuzu and the subtle spiciness added a nice touch to the flavor. Oyakodon with a generous amount of sauce by default. I happily finished it all. When we left the restaurant, Tsukiji was so crowded with foreign tourists that it was difficult to walk. I realized that this was no longer the outer market or the inner market, but TSUKIJI.

Tsukiji Torimeshi Torito Bunten "Special Tamago Oyakodon ~Shamo Oyakodon Curry~" This restaurant is a branch of Torito, a chicken meat wholesaler established in 1907 at the Tsukiji Outer Market. Their specialty is the half-cooked, tender Oyakodon made with carefully selected and expertly prepared chicken. One of their most popular dishes is the special menu item "Oyakodon Curry" made with Nasu Goyou eggs. The juicy chicken and fluffy egg Oyakodon, combined with a curry made with a mix of various spices, create a perfect harmony of flavors. The ultimate chicken white broth soup, prepared by simmering selected chicken parts for 8 hours, adds depth to the dishes. The concentrated flavor of the soup enhances the Oyakodon and curry, creating a truly delicious experience. Incredibly tasty, highly recommended!

Located at the entrance of the Tsukiji Outer Market, "Torimeshi Toritofu Buntensho" is a restaurant directly operated by Toritofu, which has been in business since the Meiji era, specializing in wholesale of chicken and duck meat. They offer chicken dishes using their proud chicken meat. Their specialty is the chicken and egg rice bowl, made with a chicken white broth soup base that is simmered for a day and topped with a semi-cooked egg. The location is just a few seconds' walk from the intersection of Tsukiji 4-chome, near the main branch of Sushizanmai, with a black storefront that stands out. The Tsukiji area has recently seen an increase in inbound demand, leading to crowded streets. I was able to be seated at the counter without waiting around 10 a.m. on a weekday. The interior is compact, with 4 counter seats and 2 tables, but the number of people seeking its taste exceeds the capacity, often forming a line. The menu offers various chicken dishes, with the chicken and egg rice bowl available in three options: "Extreme Egg Chicken Bowl (Shamo Oyakodon 1600 yen)", "Ultimate Chicken Bowl (Premium Oyakodon 1250 yen)", and "Proud Chicken Bowl (950 yen)". They also offer curry, fried chicken, and a chicken rice bowl, catering to different preferences. When asked for a recommendation, they suggested the normal chicken and egg rice bowl made with young chicken, available with soy sauce, salt, or yuzu salt. What I ordered was as follows: - Oyakodon (Salt) 950 yen It was served in about 8 minutes. Unlike the typical orange-colored chicken and egg rice bowl, this one had a thin and semi-cooked appearance with a salt flavor. The tender and juicy chicken meat conveyed a hint of sweetness, while the umami of the broth was gently brought out with each bite. The rice, mixed with the sauce and the sweetness of the egg, smoothly welcomed the flavors, with the taste of the chicken blending in harmoniously. Towards the end, adding yuzu shichimi chili pepper from the table enhanced the already delicious flavors. The soup, despite being light, had a deep umami that connected to the aftertaste excellently. The chicken and egg were perfectly balanced by the rice, creating a textbook example of a delicious chicken and egg rice bowl. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste of the chicken and egg with the salt seasoning until the last bite. While the restaurant is usually crowded during lunchtime, visiting early in the day is recommended. Despite being a place known for seafood, this restaurant is a must-visit for its overflowing deliciousness. Be sure to try the proud chicken and egg rice bowl offered by this chicken specialist. - Torimeshi Toritofu Buntensho Address: 4-8-6 Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo Phone: 03-3543-6525 Business hours: 7:30-14:00, 18:00-21:00 (nighttime by reservation only) Closed: Sundays, holidays, market holidays Duration of stay: 20 minutes Bill: 950 yen tax included Time of entry: Around 10 a.m. on weekdays, no waiting * Photography inside the kitchen is prohibited
