It was incredibly delicious. You can tell they pay attention to the quality of the ingredients. The simple dishes really showcase the flavors. The hot pot, egg bowl, and I forgot to take a picture but the fried chicken were all very satisfying. I definitely want to go back to this restaurant.

You can enjoy a leisurely sukiyaki in a spacious tatami room in Shinjuku! I brought my baby with me, and there is a baby cot in the restaurant! The tatami room is spacious so even a baby who can roll over can safely lie down. The meat is delicious, and the porridge is amazing! The soup is rich and you can drink as much as you want!

I often go to eat at this restaurant during the 11 am opening dash. The set of oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) and small sukiyaki costs around 2400 yen. It's a bit pricey for dinner, but for lunch, it's a reasonable amount to treat yourself. With a reservation, it's also great for business meetings. I personally prefer lighter flavors, but the sukiyaki here has a nice balance of richness and gentle taste. The oyakodon varies slightly in flavor depending on the day, but the charcoal-grilled chicken with sesame oil and the beautifully colored egg are very appetizing. They seem to have reduced the number of seats and adjusted accordingly, as the service is always excellent, with a high-quality impression, based on the evening price point. *It seems the name is "Genkai Shokudo" for lunch.

The chicken used in the dishes is "Date Chicken" directly delivered from the Date region in Fukushima Prefecture, known for its firm texture without excess fat or strong taste. The menu includes chicken senbei, simmered zucchini and bonjiri, traditional chicken pine wind, young sweetfish nanbanzuke, seasonal sashimi, special ponzu vinegar, steamed garlic, versatile green onion, simmered loofah with summer fragrance, red core daikon, grilled Date chicken meatballs, snap peas, cherry tomatoes, vanilla ice cream, and four types of bite-sized baked sweets. Drinks include highball, summer fragrance sour, and sake.

Before leaving Japan, I had to have some Mizutaki (chicken hot pot)! I really love the Mizutaki here! I even got a refill of the soup and added some zosui (rice porridge), but I still could drink more soup... (´∀`) The attentive service and nice interior really suit my taste. This is definitely one of the restaurants I must visit again when I return to Japan.

It had been a long time since I last had Mizutaki at Genkai. I had made a reservation for 19:00, but couldn't get a private room reservation. Luckily, there was a cancellation, and I was seated in the private room "Sakura". I ordered the recommended course "Genkai" for 15,000 yen, which included appetizers, chicken sashimi, Mizutaki hot pot, palate cleanser, grilled dish, and dessert. Everything was delicious! The soup at the beginning of the Mizutaki was especially amazing. Oh, the dessert was matcha ice cream, but I asked for it to be changed to Showa-style pudding. I also ordered extra zosui. The interior of the restaurant was luxurious and had a fantastic blend of traditional and modern Japanese styles.

Celebrating the 96-year history, we had a private party at the prestigious Hakata sukiyaki restaurant, Genkai, located in Shinjuku Gyoen. With 91 guests in attendance, I covered the bill, which came out to less than 20,000 yen per person. The view from inside was stunning, reminiscent of being at the foot of Tokyo Tower or at a tofu shop in Uka. Originally from Kumamoto, I feel like I grew up in Hakata with the Kyushu Shinkansen only 37 minutes away. Thanks to collagen, my skin is smooth and radiant. The food was just as outstanding as in Hakata, if not better, and I would love to visit this restaurant again. The hospitality was superb, as we were welcomed in casually dressed and even got to meet the top chef. To find this amazing restaurant, simply walk straight from Isetan along Yasukuni Street until you reach Shinjuku Gyoen. You'll see the restaurant towering on your left. As a Kyushu man, I can be quite picky about motsunabe and sukiyaki, but the private room chicken dishes were exceptional. As a side note, the dessert is homemade. The vanilla ice cream after the sukiyaki and ochazuke was delightful. The staff even saw us off, making this experience comparable to a 40,000 yen course in Ginza. I highly recommend visiting Genkai when you are in Shinjuku. It was truly outstanding. Thank you very much.

I've been there so many times (laughs) It's really delicious! It's sad that the Shinjuku Takashimaya store is gone and there are no more convenient locations to visit, but sometimes I just crave the soup from Genkai. The unforgettable taste. I love the atmosphere of the main store. It's a great place to entertain guests! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Located just a few minutes' walk from Shinjuku Sanchome and Shinjuku Gyoen, this establishment, which has been in business for nearly 100 years, exudes a sense of history from the building itself. The well-maintained atmosphere of the shop is lovely. The entire interior feels like private rooms, where you take off your shoes at the entrance and head up to the second floor. Today, we opted for the course menu. After a few dishes, we enjoyed the Mizutaki hot pot. We started by savoring the chicken soup, which was thick and creamy. Adding condiments made it even more delicious. The chicken meat was flavorful and tender. We also had a rice porridge and finished off with dessert. It was a truly satisfying meal. The shop closes at 9 pm. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Genkai is a renowned restaurant that has been in business for 90 years, specializing in sukiyaki. Originally established in Shinagawa, it was relocated to Shinjuku after the war. Despite the change in location, the restaurant has maintained the same delicious flavors from when it first opened. The restaurant is perfect for entertaining guests, with a luxurious entrance leading to private dining rooms. The sukiyaki is prepared by the staff, with a rich milky broth that is incredibly tasty and can be enjoyed on its own. They use high-quality Date chicken, which is lean and well-balanced in flavor. To finish off the meal, they serve a delicious rice porridge with plenty of green onions.

When it comes to kaiseki cuisine, the conversation becomes stiff and the number of dishes can be tiring. Amidst such consecutive entertaining occasions, when you want to have a slightly elegant and relaxed atmosphere closer to Kabukicho, this is the perfect place! The hot and fluffy tsukune mixed with the sweetness of ponzu sauce is incredibly delicious!! I've never looked forward to the zosui (rice porridge) for the end of the meal this much before!

I visited during lunchtime. I arrived around 12:30 on Friday and was able to get in without a reservation. However, there were only a few seats available. I ordered the hot pot set. The soup was delicious above all else. They also brought me porridge at the end, which was a nice touch. Personally, I wish they offered a choice of noodles to finish off the hot pot soup. I was very satisfied!

I was recommended this restaurant by a teacher I am grateful for. I had oyakodon for lunch. It had grilled chicken pieces similar to yakitori. It was very delicious and I would like to go back again. The sukiyaki hot pot also looked delicious.

I had a celebration for my 60th birthday and retirement at a large restaurant in Shinjuku that stood out. Established in 1928, the place had a classy atmosphere with well-crafted carpets lining the hallways and stairs. The white chicken broth with ponzu sauce was delicious, and the bone-in chicken had great meat. Various dishes kept coming, and although I was busy chatting, everything was very tasty. The specially imported sea bream was incredibly large and had a firm texture, both visually and in taste. Lastly, the birthday cake with just the right amount of cream and large strawberries was also very delicious. I hope to celebrate again in 20 years!

The restaurant was very elegant and had a luxurious atmosphere. I visited with my foreign friends and they were very impressed by the Japanese atmosphere and hospitality. The noodles for the finishing touch are made in the kitchen and brought to the room, but they were a bit lukewarm (apparently to prevent the noodles from getting soggy), so we ended up leaving them. However, the collagen-rich soup was delicious. This is a recommended restaurant for entertaining clients or special occasions.

Genhaimi's Ultimate Oyakodon Lunch near Shinjuku Gyoen, about a 5-minute walk away. Known for their sukiyaki dishes, Genhaimi has a luxurious feel to it, from the entrance to the interior. Today, I chose the ultimate oyakodon and sukiyaki set for lunch. The chicken in the sukiyaki was deliciously tender and paired perfectly with the egg. The modesty of the sukiyaki experience made for a wonderful lunch. Grateful for the lovely meal, I have decided to visit again soon! ✨

The boiled chicken dish is truly delicious. The thick, cloudy soup has a rich flavor with a strong taste of chicken broth. The chicken meat is tender and melts in your mouth. The charming atmosphere of the traditional building is also a highlight. It is recommended for those who want to enjoy a private meal in a relaxing private room.

Even though it's called "mizutaki," the unique pot that can only be found in Genkai is amazing. Since no vegetables are added to the pot, the soup doesn't become diluted, allowing you to enjoy the chicken and soup until the end. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calming, making you feel like you're not even in Shinjuku. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited the restaurant after 12:00 and had the hot pot set meal. It was a bit pricey for lunch, so there were only about 3 groups of customers including us. When the food was served, I first tried the chicken in the hot pot. I'm not a big fan of boiled chicken, but this one had no unpleasant smell and was quite tasty. The soup was flavorful and paired well with the chicken. However, what left a strong impression on me was the oyakodon (chicken and egg bowl). The egg was creamy, and when I took a bite, the smoky flavor of the grilled chicken spread in my mouth, complemented by the rich broth. It was really delicious! Although it's a bit expensive, enjoying a luxurious lunch in a calm atmosphere was a nice experience. Thank you for the meal!

Genkai is a long-established sukiyaki restaurant located on Yasukuni Street in Shinjuku. The atmosphere is that of a high-class ryotei, and the staff are very polite in guiding you to your private tatami room. It seems that only course meals are available for order. Before the sukiyaki, various chicken dishes are served, and then it's finally time for the sukiyaki. The soup served at the beginning is truly delicious! I think it's the number one sukiyaki in Tokyo. We also enjoyed the chicken meat. The only ingredients used are chicken. There are no other ingredients. The sukiyaki is delicious! It's a taste that really sinks into your body. The soup was so delicious that I had to ask for seconds. The final zosui (rice soup) was also delicious. You should definitely go there.
