Near Nariokami Tenjin in Nishi-Shinjuku, there used to be a standing bar that offered a variety of snacks from all over the country. The standing bar quickly closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the shutters remained down for over a year. However, this year, construction started and the place reopened. On the opening day, there didn't seem to be any special sale, but the place was packed, surprising many. Within a week, it became a popular spot with long lines forming. I decided to visit to see if the hype was worth it. I thought maybe it would calm down eventually, but the popularity only increased. I visited close to closing time, around 8:30 PM, and had to wait for 30 minutes before getting in. I later found out from the staff that it's easier to get in around 3-6 PM. So be prepared to wait if you go at other times. You won't be asked for your order while waiting. The menu is simple: steak or curry, just like the name of the place suggests. I ordered the steak with extra meat and simmered curry, as well as the beef steak rice, both in medium size. Since alcohol is cheap, we also got beer and highballs. We shared the meal between two people. The food was served in about 10 minutes. The meat on the curry and the meat on the steak rice seemed to be the same. It was similar to roast beef and very tender with a lot of flavor. Definitely worth the price. The curry had a good amount of simmered meat in it. The taste was as expected and the price was reasonable. The alcohol was also very cheap at 150 yen per drink. The staff even checked in on us during our meal, asking how the food was. This time I visited with a different person, and surprisingly it was two weeks in a row. It was a little busy with about 6 people waiting, but we were seated in less than 20 minutes. It's totally fine, but I thought it was a bit much! If you're looking for a quick lunch that you can finish in 20-30 minutes, this place is convenient! The M size cost around 1300 yen. I thought it was a reasonable price. For men with a big appetite, the M size might be a bit small. If I'm going to pay 1300 yen, personally, I would prefer a set meal where I can take my time to eat. So, if you're looking to enjoy a leisurely lunch, this place might not be suitable, but it was just right for me this time as I wanted a quick meal!

It had a moderate thickness and a good mouthfeel, similar to a cross between roast beef and steak. It was elegant yet had a decent portion size. I opted for a moderate amount of the sweet center sauce. I also added a little radish sauce towards the end. I chose the garlic butter rice (free of charge), which was a good choice!
