Recently, I have been using the Nanbu Line frequently. I feel disappointed when the train bound for Inagi-Naganuma arrives. I decided to buy a cake and not take the Keio Line, so I got off at Bunamata Station, bought various things, and walked home in the light rain. I had an apple cake and a Mont Blanc. I used to like the green apple one, but this shiny cake from here has become my favorite.

Second visit... Last time, I was hesitant to try the shiny cake, but I decided to give it a second chance (; ・`д・´) When I got home and took a bite, the spoon sank into the cake and a refreshing green apple scent filled the air (*´▽`*) The texture inside was quite soft, making it easy to eat. The gentle green apple flavor spread smoothly. I no longer have a resistance to shiny cakes, so I will definitely try them again! (ノ゚ω゚)ノ

One Sunday in June... I was taken by my husband to the Fuchu Kyodo no Mori Park. We saw lots of beautiful hydrangeas and even though I fell asleep during more than half of the planetarium show, it was a nice experience. We couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for, so we ended up wandering around the station area. By chance, we stumbled upon "Cattle Call" where we decided to try their cream puffs. The macaron cream puff was delicious, with a chunky texture and a creamy custard filling that my husband enjoyed. It brought back memories of when I took an entrance exam at a nearby university over 30 years ago, and the name of the station, Funabashi-gawa-hara, stuck in my mind. It was a nostalgic moment for me. The cream puffs were a treat, thank you for the meal.

Today, I experienced takeout from "Quatre-Quarts Futabakawa Store" located about a 1-minute walk from Futabakawa Station. The sweets at Quatre-Quarts are all made daily in the atelier based on the concept of bringing out the original flavor of the ingredients to the fullest and expressing a deep flavor. I'm excited to see what kind of sweets they offer. Since it was Halloween day, the store was decorated in Halloween colors. A Halloween limited edition "Halloween Roll" was introduced on the signboard. It's made of pumpkin-flavored cream wrapped in cocoa sponge and topped with cream made from "Chura Koi Beni" from Miyako Island. Looks delicious. Besides the recommended "Halloween Roll" (excluding tax 1,600 yen), there are many colorful cakes displayed in the showcase. On the left side of the showcase, there are 6 types of whole cakes ranging from 2,000 yen to 3,200 yen excluding tax. Personally, I'm interested in the "Tarte aux Fraises" (excluding tax 2,300 yen). It's a tart with fresh strawberries and almond cream baked inside, topped with custard cream and whipped cream. On the left side of the showcase, there are sliced cakes displayed. On the right side of the showcase, there are "Pudding" and souffle-type "Half-Baked Cheese & Chocolate" cakes, among others. The shelf by the window is filled with Halloween sweets. The first cake is "Forenoa" (excluding tax 420 yen). It consists of pistachio-flavored cream and mousse, chocolate mousse with Griotte (sour cherries cooked in liquor), and cocoa dough with a thin layer of raspberry. The balance of pistachio's nutty flavor and Griotte's acidity complements the chocolate mousse well. The second cake is "Peach Tart" (excluding tax 380 yen). It features rich-tasting French red peaches, also known as "vineyard peaches," baked with almond cream in tart dough. The balance between the tart red peach's acidity and the not-too-sweet almond cream's nutty flavor is exquisite and delicious. The third cake is "Poire" (excluding tax 550 yen). It's a cute pear-shaped cake with pear and white chocolate mousse, caramelized pear compote, and a buttery thick sable cookie base. The sweet and flavorful pear mousse pairs well with the buttery sable, and the crispy texture of the sable adds to the experience. The fourth cake is "Shine Muscat Tart" (excluding tax 520 yen). It features skin-on grapes "Shine Muscat" and whipped cream on a tart with almond cream. The juicy Shine Muscat grapes are delicious on their own and even better with the custard cream on the tart. Thank you for the meal.

JR and Keio Line meet at Funabashigawa Station. This is a Western confectionery shop located right to the south of the station. There is a statue of the hero of the Battle of Funabashigawa, Lord Nitta Yoshisada, at the rotary nearby. It's really close to the station. Actually, a long time ago, there was a cake shop at this location with a name like "Carrot," and one of the middle-aged women in our house once came all the way here to buy a cake. Now it's called "Cattle Call," and I thought maybe the Carrot shop was gone, but the cookie I bought had "Carrot House" written on the manufacturer's label, so it seems to be the same shop. It's a very small shop that only offers takeout. The fresh cakes all had elaborate designs that would make children happy. So cute! This time, they had various series that would get you excited for Halloween. This time, I stopped by while touring the ancient tombs (there are many tombs in this area!). I gave up on the fresh cakes and bought baked sweets instead. Eating Western confectionery while gazing at the ancient tombs is the best. Feel the ancient times with your eyes, feel the Reiwa era with your tongue. Feel the vast flow of time passing through your heart. Munch, munch... The sweets I bought this time were:
- Matcha and Kinako Sablé (excluding tax: 115 yen)
- Galette Bretonne (excluding tax: 200 yen)
- Amaretti (excluding tax: 150 yen)
* We love almond flour!
All of them were lightly sweet and had a pleasant mouthfeel. I must try the fresh cakes someday! Now they also have stores at Ecute next to Tachikawa Station South Exit and near Keio Fuchu Station. I should try buying fresh cakes in Tachikawa next time. Thank you for the meal.

Our shop seems to have quite a wide presence in the western or northern Tama area of Tokyo. I noticed a store at Fuchu Station and did a little research, finding out that there are actually 4 stores. Among them, Koda is the main store, but according to a review by a My Reviewer, it seems that our shop is the founding location. So, I took a little detour during work to visit. As soon as you cross the pedestrian bridge at the station, you can see a patisserie in a standalone house. Napoleon Pie: essentially a mille-feuille. The top strawberry is made to resemble the emperor's hat... I understand that, but it feels like there's a certain group that calls it that. Strawberry, custard cream, and crispy pie. A simple classic, but you can really appreciate the person who first thought of this. Tropical: a vibrant mousse cake. From the appearance and the name, you can imagine it's mostly mango flavored, but there seems to be something different inside the mousse. True to its name, it's tropical! Griotte: How do they even make this? A sculpture that makes you wonder. The surface is a mirror glaze, and the inside is mousse. The top branches are just inserted. There's no handle to grab onto! Looking back, there was something even more complicated at Lurasion @ Ashikaga Park, in the shape of an apple with a thin white chocolate surface and cream inside. Is this a variation of Fore Noir? The base has a chocolate x Griotte mousse and glaze. Fore Noir: I bought something similar, but is the green color a hint of pistachio? This one emphasizes the contrast even more. As long as they sell Griotte, adding color with alcohol might be a good idea. With such colorful and distinctive items, it's no wonder they stand out. After settling the bill, a creatively made roll cake catches my eye! I'll definitely come back to this store and the other branches.

This is a cake shop located just a short walk from the Futamata-Kawasaki Station on the Keio Line and JR Nambu Line. I decided to stop by on my way back from visiting the Suntory beer factory, as I had seen it from the platform of the JR Nambu Line. The receipt said it was a limited company called Ninjin House. I had planned to buy the strawberry roll cake I saw on my way there, but it was sold out by the time I got there, so I ended up buying four other cakes instead. When I got home and opened the box, I was surprised to find that the cakes were all toppled over each other. It seems the box was too big. - Sakura Mont Blanc (480 yen + tax): The color was impressive, but there was too much meringue inside, giving it a crunchy texture that I didn't enjoy. - Forenoir (420 yen + tax): A chocolate-based bottom with a pistachio-based top. Despite the collision with the Sakura Mont Blanc, this cake didn't get too messed up. - Petit Lapin (400 yen + tax): A rabbit-shaped cake. - Pomme (520 yen + tax): I was drawn to the apple shape, but the gooey texture and scent didn't suit me, and the chocolate tart base felt too big and didn't taste good to me.

Take a right after exiting from either Keio Line Bunbukuawara Station or JR Bunbukuawara Station, and walk straight towards the arcade. At the end, you will find an elevator. Take it down and you will see the shop right in front of you. I tried the seasonal new product called Ponmu as a takeout. It is an apple and white chocolate tart filled with apple compote and caramel cream - a delightful treat for chocolate lovers. The Yuzu is another seasonal new product I tried. It is a yuzu mousse with milk chocolate cream brulee infused with Earl Grey, on top of a cocoa tart - a must-try for chocolate enthusiasts. I also got the Sakura Mont Blanc as a takeout. It is a sakura-flavored Mont Blanc cream with pistachio cream, syrup-soaked griotte, and crispy meringue - a heavenly treat for Mont Blanc lovers. Apart from Ponmu, Yuzu, and Sakura Mont Blanc, they also offer other desserts like Strawberry Shortcake, Chantilly Chocolat, Ripe Banana Tart, Rare Cheesecake, and Custard Pudding. They also sell cookies inside the shop. It's a place where you can enjoy a variety of desserts from cakes to cookies.

Around 3pm on a weekday in October 2018, I had a macaron shoe for 200 yen (excluding tax), a Mont Blanc with Japanese chestnut for 510 yen, and a Forenoa for 420 yen.

It feels like I'm back to my elementary school days with this cute cake. The staff at the shop are very friendly, just like you would expect at a sweet shop. The cake is fluffy and delicious. I'm happy to see that there is a shop at Kokubunji Marui as well.

On June 18, 2017, Father's Day, my wife and elementary school daughter bought this cake for me. I received a seasonal limited edition beer jelly for Father's Day. The message "Thank you always, Dad" made me happy. The small pretzel on top is a nice touch. I, a humble person, tried beer jelly for the first time, and the jelly part had a strong beer flavor (of course!), making it quite an adult-like taste.

[February 2016 Revisit] I purchased the half-baked cheese and half-baked chocolate cakes. It was a cold day, but when asked about my takeout time, they provided a small box with ice packs. The cakes had a moist texture and melted in your mouth. Although they were small, the soufflé-like half-baked cakes were satisfying on their own. Thank you for the delicious treats. [February 2011 First visit... Cute but sweet.] I occasionally ride the Nanbu Line and have a friend nearby, so I was curious about this place. I had been on a cake ban for a while, but the cakes here were too cute to resist... When I opened the box at home, I noticed the cakes were securely taped to the bottom of the plastic case and had dividers to prevent them from moving. It was done efficiently and thoughtfully. I forgot the official names, but I bought the white and black rabbit cakes (399 yen) and the half-baked cheese and half-baked chocolate cakes (157 yen). The rabbit ears were made of chocolate. The white one had powdered sugar, while the black one had cocoa powder, making them look stylish. Inside, there were three layers of creamy goodness. Hmm... they were cute, but overall, they were too sweet. It would have been more enjoyable if the sweetness was toned down a bit so that the different creams could be appreciated more. I had previously tried the chestnut Mont Blanc, which was exclusive to the Funabashi store. Unlike the regular Mont Blanc, this one had a refined appearance with a Japanese touch. However, it was still quite sweet. It would be better if they could bring out the natural sweetness of the chestnut more. The cakes in fun shapes that children would enjoy are fun, but the half-baked cheese and half-baked chocolate cakes, like fluffy soufflés, were satisfying on their own. There are also stores in Musashikoganei and Tachikawa, but the taste may vary depending on preference. Perhaps the cakes tasted sweeter because it had been a while since I had them. I apologize if my feedback may not align with your preferences, to those who are fans.

This is a gift. It is a souffle-style cake called Half-baked Cheese and Half-baked Chocolate. When checked on the website, it was stated that they come in a pack of 5 for 750 yen + tax. (The website did not mention a pack of 5 of Half-baked Cheese and Half-baked Chocolate, but it is probably the same price.) Both Half-baked Cheese and Half-baked Chocolate taste like typical cheesecake and chocolate cake, but the texture is light and easy to eat due to being souffle-style. Although each cake is a reasonable size, there is quite a satisfying feeling after finishing eating.

Fucho Goto no Mori Museum of Local History and Folklore, I got off at Bunbai Kawahara for the first time to admire the plum blossoms. It was cold, and I had some time before the next bus, so I decided to take a stroll around the area. There was a cute bakery right near the station, so I peeked inside. It turned out to be a pastry shop with a variety of baked goods on display. They had a wide range of gift items with different combinations, prices, and appearances, perfect for the White Day season. The cookies and financiers were also available for individual purchase, catering to our needs. On this day, I was looking for some snacks to have in the park, and I found the Orange Peel (called "Orangette") there. It came in a small, stylish box, perfect for carrying in a small bag, snacking on the go, or giving as a quick gift. The Orangette had a perfect balance, with the bitter chocolate taking the lead and the orange providing a subtle texture and fragrance. It was just what I was looking for, and my friend and I ended up finishing the whole box in no time. The flavor and sweetness remained pleasant even towards the end, making it a well-balanced and delicious treat. As a side note, the shop was called "Cattleya" in Katakana, which turned out to be "Quatre Quarts" in French, referring to a traditional and simple pastry made with equal parts of four ingredients. It made me think of the simple sponge cake with jam filling that I had heard of before. Overall, I highly recommend the Orangette from Cattleya, and I would definitely repurchase it.

This shop is a Western confectionery shop located just a short walk from Futamata-Kawasaki Station on the Keio Line and JR Nambu Line. As a somewhat unsophisticated man, I struggle to find the right words, but the cakes and baked goods here are all cute and lovely. We often visit for family events like birthdays and Hinamatsuri, as well as to pick up small gifts for my daughter on my way home from work. I often see other dads or husbands like me buying cakes here on their way home as well. On White Day in 2012, I bought a shortcake from this shop. Most of their shortcakes do not contain alcohol, so it's safe for my 5-year-old daughter. (Although, she ended up enjoying the one with alcohol in it!) The shop's website mentions their focus on creating "cute and modern" designs for their sweets, which I can definitely see. When it comes to buying a special cake for our family, we always choose this shop or Mon Amour Kiyokaze-do. The gesture of the staff coming to hand over the items after payment is always appreciated. By the way, the name "Quatre-Quarts" is pronounced as "Katru-Karu" in French, meaning "four quarters," referring to a French cake made by combining four ingredients - eggs, flour, sugar, and butter - in equal amounts. On a weekday evening in May 2012, I bought a cute "bear cheesecake" and "strawberry cake" for my daughter to celebrate her first loose tooth. In July 2013, I bought a "Gâteau Fauve" and "Bavarois" as a cake for our anniversary. I have no expertise in sweets, so I choose based on the cute appearance that will make my wife and daughter happy, and this shop always meets that need. In March 2014, I stopped by and bought a "soft-boiled pudding" for my wife and 7-year-old daughter. It had a soft and fluffy texture, with a subtly sweet and adult taste, and a rich vanilla bean flavor. In July 2014, I bought the "soft-boiled pudding" again, this time as a reward for my daughter's good first-term report card. The bitter taste of the caramel sauce was also impressive.
