Tabelog 3.58 * As of March 2022, this is a well-known traditional sukiyaki restaurant. Many people mistakenly think Asakusa Imahan is the original, but the original is actually Imahan in Ningyocho. Atmosphere: The restaurant is located inside a building, but when the elevator door opens, you'll be surprised by the spacious interior. The staff are mostly experienced older ladies, giving off a vibe of a long-established famous restaurant. Food: I opted for the indulgent course priced at 19,800 yen. - Appetizers: Sweet potato butterfly, warabi fern, firefly squid, kinomi miso, harumozuku with small salmon roe, simmered beef with cherry blossoms, broccoli and tomato with wasabi, lily bulb with corned beef - Clear soup: Green pea grated soup, even though I don't like green peas, I found it delicious. - Sashimi and roast beef sushi: Topped with a fan-shaped sudachi and enjoyed with salt. - A5 rank steak: Today's meat is from Tottori. I ordered it rare and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. - Tottori A5 rank wagyu sukiyaki: The meat was outstanding. Tottori beef is known for its rich oleic acid content and has even been ranked as the best Japanese beef. It was truly delicious! We tried dipping it in egg and also with sudachi for a refreshing taste. Just as we were full, the staff offered to add more meat. Each slice costs 7,000 yen, so basically 3,500 yen per bite. - Finale: Fluffy and creamy egg rice. It was delicious as expected, but we were already full. - Dessert: Seasonal honey anmitsu with cherry blossom honey. I'm not a big fan of anmitsu, but this one was light and tasty. Overall, the meal was extremely delicious. Perhaps the additional meat was unnecessary. Next time, I might opt for a slightly lower course. They also offer sukiyaki and shabu-shabu, but I think sukiyaki is the best choice.

During the Bon season, I slipped into the Matisse exhibition at Ueno and then entered the restaurant at 1 pm after making a reservation online. Since it was a special day, I indulged a bit with the Sukiyaki set meal (premium shoulder loin) priced at 6,820 yen each. After a refreshing appetizer, the splendid Sukiyaki meat appeared. I let out a wow as the impeccably dressed waitress timed it perfectly to cook the meat. First, I savored the meat with a rich sauce, followed by vegetables, and lastly, plain chrysanthemum greens, fu (wheat gluten), and tofu dipped in beaten egg. Savoring the tender and flavorful taste of each dish, it was a blissful moment. The Sukiyaki rice at the end and the almond jelly dessert were also delicious without any flaws. Thank you for the feast. I would love to experience it again.

I used this restaurant for a casual business entertainment. Surprisingly, there were beautiful dancers performing inside the restaurant! The foreign guests were delighted by the entertainment, but... the meat was delicious, the service was thorough, and it was convenient for entertaining guests. However, including additional meat, the payment was close to 20,000 yen per person, and I felt that the meal was a bit monotonous. Shabu-shabu is that kind of dish, I suppose... The marbled meat was very delicious, but it was the expected level of deliciousness. It seems that my preference for meat dishes is slightly different.

I had been curious about Imahan Doll Town for a long time, but since it was fully booked, I went to the Ueno Hirokoji store. I had the spring new bamboo shoot sukiyaki course, which included appetizers, seasonal sashimi, sukiyaki, rice, and dessert. The appetizers featured a variety of seasonal ingredients, which was delightful. The sukiyaki included both loin and fillet, and needless to say, it was incredibly delicious. I ended up having three bowls of rice. The service was polite and the staff were gentlemen filled with kindness, making it a very pleasant experience.

Visited at 5 pm! Sat at a table! The high-class and Japanese atmosphere that drifts from the entrance is great. Everything from the first tasting dish to the main course was delicious! If you don't like heavy dishes, it's better to go for the cheaper course with lean meat. Everything was delicious, and the hospitality of the staff was excellent. There's nothing to complain about! I will definitely go again!!

When it comes to sukiyaki in Tokyo, "Imahan" is the place to go. I visited with my partner and experienced a different sukiyaki culture compared to Kansai. It was truly a culinary experience. I made a reservation through the official website and visited the restaurant. I wanted to try matsutake mushrooms in the fall, so I opted for a seasonal course. I also requested a private room, but it was not available due to being almost fully booked. It would have been nice if they had informed me in advance. Anyway, upon entering the restaurant, I found it to be conveniently located near Hirokoji Station in a multi-tenant building. After taking the elevator to the floor, I was impressed by the ambiance. We waited at the entrance before being led to our semi-private room. If you don't reserve a private room, you will be seated at regular table seats, which are also nice but more exposed to other diners' gazes. The staff handled all the cooking, so you need to pick up the food with your chopsticks yourself. The cooking was done by professionals, and the marbling of the beef was amazing. The aroma and flavor of the matsutake mushrooms were superb. The sukiyaki itself was incredibly delicious. The chef's grilling skills were top-notch, and they were willing to answer any questions. It was a delightful dining experience that engaged all the senses. After chatting for about 120 minutes, we left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Imahan offers a truly delicious sukiyaki experience, and though it may be a bit pricey, the satisfaction it brings is worth it. I would definitely like to visit again, perhaps aiming for the Hitocho branch next time!

I visit this restaurant about once a year for the Sukiyaki course, which includes a selection of appetizers, sashimi, roast beef sushi, mini grilled steak, Sukiyaki meal, and dessert. Personally, I find this course to be quite heavy on the stomach, requiring antacid afterwards. As a newcomer to posting on Tabelog, I made an effort to take photos, although I often forget to do so. Overall, I enjoyed the meal.

I visited the restaurant on a weekday night. I didn't make a reservation, so I had to wait a bit before being seated, but the restaurant didn't feel too crowded. The meat was all tender and really delicious. However, all the ingredients are cooked by the staff right there, so I thought it might not be the best place for having in-depth conversations with friends. There were also group customers in the restaurant, but it wasn't noisy, and we were able to enjoy a quiet and delicious meal. The prices are a bit high, but the quality of service and taste made it worth it.

The location is Ueno Hirokoji. There are similar buildings lined up and I got lost before. I usually have sukiyaki, but this time I opted for the steak course. The sirloin steak course was around 13,000 yen. It started with a tender octopus appetizer, followed by sashimi and various dishes, all of which were very well made. The steak was very delicious. The quality of the meat was perfect. I had the cheapest wine, but it was mild and delicious. As for COVID-19 measures, they had acrylic panels to block the person in front of you while not interfering with the conversation. It was perfect.

Ueno Hirokoji. As it was lunchtime and all the surrounding restaurants were crowded, I decided to walk a bit and went to Imahan. I had been to the main Imahan branch in Ningyocho before, but it had been a while since I came here. I ordered the carefully selected Imahan set meal. The meat was as tender and delicious as ever. I was satisfied. However, spending 4,180 yen for lunch on a regular day made me feel like I splurged a bit.

I had a sukiyaki course. The Yamagata beef was incredibly delicious, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The other ingredients like sweet potatoes, white konjac, and hanpen were also very tasty. The egg over rice (similar to just the egg in oyakodon) that we cooked at the end was a wonderful way to finish the meal. Thank you for the feast!

I arrived at 11:00 am on a weekday and left around 11:30 am, but the restaurant was empty. The service was excellent, with attention to detail and quick refills of rice. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice, with spacious seating that allowed for privacy during conversations. I ordered the cheapest sukiyaki bento available on weekdays, priced at 1,650 yen, which I found a bit expensive. The meat was lean and the sauce was on the lighter side. The container was designed to retain heat but towards the end of the meal, the meat was a bit cold. Despite the option for free rice refills, I still felt a bit unsatisfied with the portion size. For those with a higher budget, I recommend upgrading to the 1.5 times portion for 2,200 yen. While the restaurant may not cater specifically to salarymen, it is more suitable for business meetings where higher-priced menu options can be chosen. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it for those looking for a cost-effective lunch option, but it's a good choice for business meetings where expenses can be covered.

I couldn't forget the deliciousness from my last visit, so I ended up visiting "Imahan Ningyocho Ueno Hirokoji Store" again. I intended to order the same menu as last time, but I accidentally ordered the "Sukiyaki Set Meal (Upper)" instead. I realized my mistake when the first side dish arrived, but it was too late to change it. I decided to just add some extra meat and enjoy it. The staff member who served us this time was not as attentive as the one from last time. There was no explanation about the meat, and they brought out the next meat dish regardless of when we were ready for it. It was a bit disappointing compared to the previous experience. However, the meat was still delicious! Thank you for the meal☆

Today was really hot, wasn't it? The sun was telling us to get some nutrients, so I obediently headed to the izakaya. Delicious! But something feels missing, right? Golden, white foam, smooth to drink - that's the best nutrition, I think. Just a little more patience!

I had some errands nearby, so I decided to treat myself to a nice lunch a little early. To reset from the daily stress and everything, I believe that enjoying delicious food is the best way. I like to relax in a calm restaurant, savoring each dish slowly. It's a very soothing time for me. On this day, I visited "Imahan" in Ueno Hirokoji. The restaurant had soothing koto music playing in the background, and the staff in kimono provided excellent service. I ordered the Sukiyaki course (premium). Here is a summary of what I had: - Appetizers: - Red Leaf Tofu: Tofu with flying fish roe inside, with a nice texture. The tofu was creamy and delicious, topped with corned beef. - Ayu Fish: Sweetly simmered ayu fish with eggplant and lemon simmered sweet potatoes. - Mizuna and Chrysanthemum Salad: A salad with dashi jelly dressing, crispy mizuna, and chrysanthemum. - Muscat White Tofu: A unique dish of muscat grape white tofu, which was surprisingly delicious. - Sashimi: Tuna and Bigfin Reef Squid. - Sukiyaki: Premium beef from Miyagi prefecture, including rib roast and shakushi. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the shakushi was a rare and delicious cut. - Rice, Miso Soup, Pickles, and Fluffy Egg Rice: A comforting dish of fluffy egg rice topped with mountain pepper. - Dessert: Almond Tofu with Blueberry Sauce, a creamy and sweet almond tofu dessert. I had made a normal reservation for a shabu-shabu lunch at a half-price, but they moved me to a private room where I expected there would be a charge. The private room was well-prepared for infection prevention, so I felt safe. The staff provided such warm hospitality that I ended up feeling a bit embarrassed by their kindness. Lately, I've been eating a lot of meat when dining out, so my stomach has been feeling a bit off. I really wanted to eat some fish.

Birthday eve lunch at eve.eve. Went for a walk and decided to have some meat. Steak is a challenge due to braces, so opted for sukiyaki instead. The atmosphere was calm and elegant as soon as we stepped off the elevator. Saw someone wearing a kimono, which added to the refined ambiance. Ordered the sukiyaki bento. It arrived on a wagon, with the pot neatly placed inside. They offered rice refills a couple of times. Ate quietly and thought about how sukiyaki sauce goes well with rice. My teeth hurt, so I ended up swallowing the rice whole. The shiny white rice tasted delicious after a long time. The meat was a bit tough, which was a letdown. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The tea and hot towel after the meal were much appreciated. On our way out, we were escorted to the elevator by four staff members. Surprised by the number of staff in the restaurant.

While declaring a state of emergency, I dined at a safe and secure restaurant in Ueno with my group, where we enjoyed sukiyaki. It was my first time at this restaurant, so I decided to order the middle-tier premium sukiyaki course for 11,000 yen. The presentation looked very appetizing, but the sashimi of sea bream and tuna seemed like supermarket sale items, which was disappointing for a course meal. The special grade beef for sukiyaki, which was supposed to be A4 rank from Ibaraki Prefecture, did not taste as delicious as expected. If I were to visit again, I would not opt for the highest grade course (15,000 yen) and would consider visiting for lunch instead of dinner. Personally, I believe that Kisaragi Ueno (which is about 20% cheaper) is a better choice.
