I went to Ueno! Ueno Park and Shinobazu Pond are starting to show their autumn colors. After enjoying a walk, I was hungry and decided to eat at a Go To Eat registered restaurant called "Sadojima Cross to Ueno." Located in the middle of Ueno and Okachimachi, it offers a great view of Shinobazu Pond and the sunset from the elevator hall. I started with a glass of white wine and ordered the recommended oysters, which were delicious with a unique flavor from the Sea of Japan. I also had oyster fry with tartar sauce and Asahi Super Dry beer. The cheese platter from Sado Island was also fantastic, served with Sado Island salt. I tried the rainbow trout from the river, which had a gentle white meat flavor. As it was getting colder, I ordered the Koshu chicken salt koji hot pot with mushrooms and autumn vegetables. For dessert, I had sake lees soy milk pudding and roasted green tea ice cream. The atmosphere was adult-friendly, with the sound of meetings in the background. Overall, it was a great dining experience at Sadojima Cross to Ueno.

On this day, I had a meal in Ueno. I wanted to taste seafood this time, so I chose this restaurant that seems to focus on Sado Island cuisine. Whenever I hear about Sado Island, I remember the three times I participated in a triathlon there, and I enjoyed a lot of seafood from Sado Island at that time. Just hearing about Sado Island makes me think of enjoying the seafood luxuriously at a good cost performance. Also, the Sado persimmons were so delicious, and personally, I have come to believe that Sado Island is a treasure trove of food. The interior of the restaurant has a traditional Japanese design, and the background music of the shamisen creates a nice atmosphere. Actually, this restaurant uses ingredients from Sado Island, and you can also enjoy Sado Island's famous sake here. It is a restaurant that won the Sado Meshi Award in 2015, so it is like a certified Sado Island restaurant! There are not many restaurants that focus so much on Sado Island like this, so as someone who loves seafood and Sado Island, this restaurant caught my interest. The menu I tried this time included the following dishes! Dried firefly squid for 750 yen. It's fragrant! It is really fragrant. When I think of firefly squid, I always have it as sashimi, but it is also delicious when dried like this. The umami is concentrated, and the balance with the sauce is exquisite. Oil-pickled oysters for 880 yen. I definitely wanted to eat oysters. There were five types on the menu, and I was torn between the oysters in the shell and the oil-pickled oysters, but this time I chose the oil-pickled oysters! You can clearly feel the umami and aroma of the oysters, and the taste is well-seasoned, so it goes well with sake. Assorted three rare delicacies for 890 yen. It is a combination of firefly squid marinated in oil, dried sardines, and vinegar seaweed. You can strongly feel the scent of the sea. The menu is delicious, and the presentation in the dishes is beautiful as well. Grilled mountain trout with Sado salt for 890 yen. Next is the grilled trout. It came bigger than I expected! I will enjoy it heartily, but the saltiness is strong and delicious!! The flesh is firm, and this is what Sado mountain trout tastes like!! Sado meal rice for 820 yen. One of the recommended items was this meal rice. It is topped with eggs along with seafood, and the taste is good, but the size is just right! It is a superb menu that is perfect for finishing a meal. Sado miso smashed cucumber for 530 yen. Next is the Sado miso smashed cucumber. The miso was applied firmly, so I thought it would be salty, but the balance of umami and saltiness is exquisite and it's just delicious! A4 grade! Seared Niigata Wagyu beef for 1280 yen. The meat is lightly seared, and along with the umami of the meat, there is also a fragrant aroma. At first, I ate just the meat, then I tried it with wasabi soy sauce, and it's an indescribable deliciousness! Oh, was seared meat this delicious? I felt that the cooking methods that bring out the umami of the ingredients are of very high quality. Each dish is wonderful, but I also feel the attention to detail in the presentation and the tableware. These little touches enhance the deliciousness of the dishes. The overall menu creation is wonderful!

I ordered the course meal, but I didn't feel the essence of "Sado" or "Niigata" in the dishes. Also, the attitude of the part-time staff was arrogant, lacking the hospitality and welcoming attitude towards customers. It was disappointing.

I used this restaurant for a drinking party after work. It is located just a short walk from Ueno Station and Ueno Okachimachi Station. The restaurant has many private rooms, and this time we were guided to a private room with a sunken kotatsu table and a door. The room was completely separated from the surroundings, so we didn't have to worry about the other customers. First, cheers with a draft beer! The beer mug was well chilled, and the foam was fine and delicious! What made us happy was the quick service. The sashimi assortment was served in a boat shape, which made a strong impression. We enjoyed various sashimi such as red meat, salmon, scallops, and yellowtail. The sashimi was thick and had a good texture, and the mouthfeel was good. We also tried the grilled salted ayu fish on skewers, which was perfectly salted with crispy skin. It had a fragrant aroma and was a wild dish that you can really dig into. There were also pork skewers, which had sweet fat and just the right amount of salt. Each skewer was quite large, so one skewer might be quite heavy for one person... The vegetables, fried potatoes, and other dishes were also delicious and reasonably priced, so I think the cost performance is good. Personally, the seasoning of the grilled chicken piece was great, with crispy skin and juicy, elastic meat, making it the MVP. The atmosphere was comfortable and easy to use. Thank you for the meal.

I came to Ueno for shopping with my friends and we made a reservation at this restaurant for the night! It's a private room izakaya with spacious seating, so we were able to enjoy our meal leisurely. It seems like a versatile place for dates or company drinking parties. The menu mainly consists of seafood and fish dishes. There are plenty of oyster dishes, so it's a must-visit for oyster lovers! This time, we ordered a sashimi platter, grilled ayu fish with salt, grilled mochi pork with salt koji, the classic fried potatoes, a colorful vegetable platter, and edamame as a snack. The salmon sashimi was cut quite thick and was incredibly delicious. It looked very elegant as well. It was my first time trying grilled ayu fish with salt, and it was delicious. The flesh was firm and seemed to go well with sake! The grilled mochi pork with salt koji was quite large, so sharing one between two people might be just right. The pork had a sweet fat and a fragrant sear. The fried potatoes were a thick-skinned type with a fluffy texture! They used salt from Sado Island, and I could feel their dedication. The drink menu was also quite extensive, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very cozy. It makes me want to visit Sado Island!

Today, I lightly participated in a festival at Ueno Park with my friends, and then we came to this restaurant to have some drinks! I haven't been to Sado, but it's in Niigata, right? That means they must have Japanese sake~ So, we toasted with Kitayuki NOBU for ¥1166. The items we ordered were: - Sado miso-tataki cucumber for ¥530. I ordered this without thinking, but the miso has a gentle flavor and is delicious! I ended up eating a lot of it by myself, haha. - Firefly squid dried overnight for ¥750. I thought it was rare to have dried firefly squid, so I ordered it. This was also a great choice! A flavor bomb that goes well with sake~! - Sado fish collar grilled for ¥950. I love fish collar, so I always order it when it's available, haha. I wonder if it comes across in the photos~ This also had a generous portion and was excellent. - Sado fish head simmered for ¥950. Since I enjoyed the collar so much and felt like I could eat more, I also ordered the fish head. Oh man, this was delicious too! The soy sauce, sake, and mirin broth was amazing... I mindlessly picked the bones and scales while savoring it, haha. - At this point, I couldn't resist trying the rice shochu Torikai on the rocks for ¥638. I've been into shochu lately, so I tried rice shochu this time. It was my first time trying rice shochu, and it was easy to drink with a different taste from sake. It paired well with the sweet and salty taste of the fish head simmered in soy sauce and mirin. - Yam potato grilled for ¥530. I could probably make this myself, but I decided to order it, and it was delicious. I might try making it at home next time. But waiting for it to cook until it gets crispy is a bit of a hassle, haha. - Finally, we had dessert as well. Sake lees soy milk pudding for ¥649. Is this homemade? It's not, right? The good aroma of sake lees is addictive~! It's rich with plenty of black honey, and it has a satisfying texture! This is not just some random dessert at a casual izakaya! It's really good! - Hojicha ice cream for ¥528. The strong aroma of hojicha is delicious, and it's really good. Well, it was more delicious than I expected, and I'm very satisfied! The grilled fish collar and simmered fish were the best... The restaurant has completely private rooms, so you can relax. Highly recommended. Thank you for the meal~

Near Ueno and Shinobazu Pond, there is a restaurant building that you will notice as soon as you arrive in the area. A local izakaya specializing in seafood on the 7th floor called "Cross to Sado Island". Not only seafood, but Niigata is also known for its delicious rice! After visiting the art museum, I used this place for a meal with friends. When you take the elevator to the 7th floor, you are greeted by the restaurant. You take off your shoes before entering. There are shoe boxes that can accommodate tall shoes, which is important. The recommended sake is the junmai daiginjo "NOBU THE SAKE", a fruity and easy-to-drink sake. The label also has explanations in English, so it seems to have a worldwide presence. You can choose to drink by the glass (1,080 yen) or 300ml (2,160 yen). It's quite a high-end sake, so take your time. Recommended dishes from Sado Island! Separate from the menu are "Eggplant with Sado Miso (750 yen)", "Yam Tempura (640 yen)", and "Sashimi Trio Sake Platter (980 yen)" with tuna, trout roe, yellowtail, and a daily bonus of salmon roe and squid! Essentially a five-piece platter! This is a delightful service. Eating shiso leaf and salmon roe together creates the ultimate sake snack. "Mochi Pork Shio Koji Skewers (680 yen)" is essentially a "negima", but the chewiness of the mochi pork is outstanding. It has a different impact than yakitori. "Iwashi Heshiko Tea-Infused Rice (690 yen)" I'm trying heshiko (fermented and salted fish) for the first time. It has a strong salty taste, but it makes a delicious ochazuke. I thought I couldn't eat anymore, but I couldn't stop! There are other snacks with just "Iwashi Heshiko", but this saltiness goes perfectly with sake. Although I didn't order it this time, the 2,500 yen all-you-can-drink menu is amazing! I wonder how many types of drinks are included? This is recommended for those who want to drink a lot. All prices are excluding tax. When it comes to Niigata, you think of rice, but there are various delicious foods as well. Thanks to the local izakaya, I was able to discover new foods that I hadn't tried before. I will try eating "Iwashi Heshiko" as is next time. Thank you for the meal.

The overall taste was good. The private room was a nice feature as it allowed us to enjoy our meal without worrying about the surroundings. If I had to nitpick, I would say that the prices for the fish and hot pot dishes were a bit high. I understand that they use high-quality ingredients, but it would be nice if they could lower the prices even just a little bit.

The staff are foreigners who cannot read the menu for Sado cuisine. In fact, most of the dishes do not use ingredients from Sado. The sashimi is all frozen, and even the salmon roe claimed to be natural was clearly artificial and very hard. This is the kind of izakaya in Ueno that survives on one-time customers. I don't think there are many repeat customers who want to eat delicious food here.

It is a remote island in Niigata Prefecture on the Japan Sea side, known for its delicious seafood. The menu offers a variety of dishes such as oysters and grilled fish. Here is what we ordered: - Mountain yam tempura for 640 yen - Sadojima oysters (raw) for 450 yen each - Assorted colorful vegetables with Sado miso for 760 yen - Grilled Sado salted ayu fish for 890 yen each - Dried firefly squid for 750 yen - Sado butter-grilled scallops (set of 2) for 950 yen - Sado fish collar simmered in soy sauce for 950 yen - Deep snow mochi pork salt-grilled for 680 yen each - Sado salt-grilled mountain hagfish for 890 yen each - Sake lees soy milk pudding for 590 yen The restaurant has a calm Japanese-style interior, with private rooms available for small groups, perfect for girls' night out, dates, or entertaining guests. We made a reservation on a Sunday night and visited for the first time with two people. It is conveniently located near Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station. The restaurant is on the 7th floor of a building. The clean and stylish private rooms are a nice feature. The name of the restaurant, "Sadojima," comes from an island in the Sea of Japan off the west coast of Niigata Prefecture, designated as a World Agricultural Heritage site. Sado Island is also famous worldwide as a sake-producing region with seven breweries. The menu has many items labeled as coming from Sado Island, which raised our expectations. On this day, we ordered a la carte. "Sadojima shell-on oysters (raw)" served with Sado ponzu. They were not large, but the fresh umami flavor was creamy and delicious. It's too good to be able to eat such delicious oysters at an izakaya. "Assorted colorful vegetables with Sado miso" A lot of stick vegetables! The combination with Sado miso was perfect. Ordering just one was enough to enjoy it as a palate cleanser until the end, so it was a delightful dish! "Grilled Sado salted ayu" "Grilled Sado salted yamame" Ayu grilled on skewers was incredibly delicious! We also thoroughly enjoyed the liver. It was such a supreme dish. Since the ayu was delicious, we added an order of yamame from Niigata Prefecture. This was also delicious and satisfying. Both were very tasty, but those who like the bitterness of the internal organs may prefer the ayu! "Sado fish collar (simmered)" This was also quite delicious! A large collar with plenty of white, tender meat, it was excellent. "Grilled salted koji pork from Miyuki Mochi (one piece)" A giant leek and Miyuki pork on one skewer! It was large enough to share between two people! The meat was very juicy. The cozy and beautiful private room, as well as the delicious food, make it suitable for light entertainment or a date. There also seems to be a course with all-you-can-drink for groups, which seems to offer good value for enjoying dinner. There were many other appealing items on the menu that we would like to try, so we definitely want to visit again. ▼Order----------- - - food- - - - (excluding tax)▷Mountain yam tempura 640 yen▷Sadojima shell-on oysters (raw) 450 yen * 2▷Assorted colorful vegetables with Sado miso 760 yen▷Grilled Sado salted ayu (one piece) 890 yen▷Dried firefly squid 750 yen▷Grilled Sado butter scallops (2 pieces) 950 yen▷Sado fish collar (simmered) 950 yen▷Grilled salted koji pork from Miyuki Mochi (one piece) 680 yen▷Grilled Sado salted yamame 890 yen * 2▷Sake lees soy milk pudding 590 yen- -drink- - - - - (excluding tax)▷Cola 380 yen▷Hot Oolong tea 380 yen▼Date of visit------February 2023 (Sunday) 7:30 PM▼Reservation/Waiting time—yes/no▼Location----------JR Ueno Station 3 minutes on footJR Okachimachi Station 5 minutes on foot▼Number of people----------2 people▼Budget----------Dinner 5000 yen / person

Hello! I'm a table tennis girl! ^_^ I came to an izakaya in Sado Island and I feel like I'm still in Sado Island! This izakaya is quite unique in this town, with private rooms and a great view! The menu features the blessings of Sado Island, like minced sardine and flavorful chikuwa. The taste is rich and delicious, perfect with a cold beer! The sashimi platter with five types of fish was actually seven pieces, so luxurious! The fish has a nice fat content and is very fresh. The dried overnight marinated sandfish is so fresh and delicious, with a good balance of saltiness. The sandfish tempura is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, packed with fish flavor. The three kinds of rare delicacies platter, especially the marinated sardine, is amazing with sake! The firefly squid is of high quality and pairs well with sake. The grilled ayu fish is so fresh and a real treat to eat! And finally, the fresh oysters with ponzu sauce are so creamy and delicious, just like eating them in Sado Island! This place is really great, giving you the feeling of drinking in Sado Island and making you laugh with joy!

I heard that there is a Sado Island izakaya in Ueno, so I decided to try it out with a friend who loves unusual things. Here's what we ate: Sado Island oysters - raw, grilled, steamed: The oysters were fantastic, with a great texture, the aroma of the sea in the grilled ones, and sweetness in the steamed ones. They paired perfectly with Sado ponzu sauce. Oyster fry: The large oysters in the bucket came out hot and crispy, and they tasted great with tartar sauce. Colorful vegetable assortment with Sado miso: The vibrant vegetables were enjoyable, especially when paired with Sado miso. Sashimi platter - a variety of fish: The sashimi was fresh and delicious, showcasing the flavors of Sado's sea. Karaage (fried chicken): The hot and crispy chicken was full of flavor, especially when dipped in seaweed salt. Sado mozuku seaweed vinegar: This dish was not just a palate cleanser, it was delicious enough to be a main dish, with the yuzu adding a nice touch. Grilled fugu (blowfish) with roe: This rare delicacy was a treat, with the golden roe shining and offering a sophisticated taste. Grilled whole prawn with Sado salt: The prawn was meaty and flavorful, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Grilled pork skewers marinated in salt koji: The pork skewers were juicy and flavorful, with a nice char from the grill. Squid ink takikomi rice: This dish took 45 minutes to prepare, but the pure flavor of squid and ink was worth the wait. It was like a Japanese-style risotto. Overall, the restaurant was conveniently located near Ueno and Okachimachi stations, with a great view from a high-rise building. The private rooms were a nice touch, and the place was bustling with couples and office workers. The food was delicious, and the post-dinner fruit sorbet was a perfect ending to the meal.

The staff is kind and responsive, and the food comes out quickly. The private room on the 7th floor offers a nice view of the city. The atmosphere and comfort level are good. Although it's a private room, you can still hear the loud conversations from neighboring tables, so it feels more like an izakaya than a high-end restaurant. We tried raw oysters, fried oysters, and oyster gratin. They have a wide variety of drinks including sours, sake, shochu, whiskey, and wine. The soba shochu was smooth and delicious. Other dishes like scallops, mehikari fish, and deep-fried sandfish were all tasty. A highlight was the grilled yamame fish, which is not commonly found.

At the year-end drinking party, we went to an izakaya between Ueno and Okachimachi. We were seated in a private room in a traditional Japanese-style interior. We ordered draft beer and some sake snacks, including three types of salted fish roe and oil-marinated oysters. The salted fish roe came in three varieties: regular, squid ink, and spicy cod roe. The unique flavors and texture of the squid were amazing. We couldn't stop drinking. To our surprise, they also had oysters! The oil-marinated oysters were creamy and smooth, and we couldn't get enough. We managed to resist ordering more than three this time... The menu was full of refreshing dishes, so we ordered the Sado yellowtail cutlet for something fried. It was coated in sesame seeds and fried to perfection, with a crispy texture and a burst of yellowtail flavor in every bite. The menu had a wide variety of options, and overall, everything was delicious. We would love to visit again when we are in the area.

I went to this restaurant with a friend where we enjoyed Niigata Sado cuisine. We started with a beer toast! My friend loves sake, so he got drunk on sake from the second cup onwards haha. They had a wide variety of Sado sake, in addition to the delicious dishes. We tried salt-boiled edamame, fresh sashimi salad with locally sourced fish, Niigata Wagyu beef tataki, oyster tempura, dried squid, tempura, and Sado fish collar. You can feel the dedication to using Sado ingredients in all the dishes. The most delicious ones were the Niigata Wagyu beef tataki and Echigo's tempura. The tataki had a mellow flavor and was refreshing to eat. The tempura was incredibly delicious with its juicy sweetness bursting in your mouth!

After work, I wanted to have some alcohol and found a restaurant near Shinobazu Pond. I started with beer, pickles, and grilled stingray fin. The classic appetizers really got the party going! This restaurant is known for its Sado Island cuisine, so I tried the grilled mountain fish with Sado salt and the scallops with Sado butter. The mountain fish was served on a skewer and tasted fresh, giving off a traditional Japanese inn vibe. The freshness was evident and it was delicious. For dessert, I had sea bream rice porridge. It was a comforting dish with a fragrant broth that warmed me up on a cold day. The atmosphere was great, and having a private room made it a quiet and enjoyable experience. The seafood dishes were particularly impressive, so I'll definitely come back again sometime.

I wanted to eat Niigata's local cuisine in Ueno, so I met up with a friend and ended up at the restaurant "Sado Island Ferry." When we entered the restaurant, we were led to a private room, which was perfect for a meal with friends! The friendly staff recommended some dishes, and we ordered the following items: - Sado Island Fresh Oysters in Shell: The oysters were fresh and delicious with a nice texture. - Rainbow Trout Grilled with Sado Island Salt: The fish was tender and the salt seasoning was perfect. - Cream Cheese Marinated in Sake Lees: A great dish to pair with sake. - Sado Island Yellowtail Sashimi: The yellowtail was fatty and flavorful, perfect for this season. - Sado Island Butter-Wrapped Grilled Yellowtail: The combination of butter and yellowtail was surprisingly good. - Deep Snow Pork Skewers Marinated in Salt Koji: The meat was tender and flavorful, and we couldn't get enough of it. - Salt Koji Egg Rice Bowl: The restaurant uses salt koji in many dishes, and it adds a nice touch. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly! The restaurant also had private rooms for large groups, making it suitable for various occasions like parties, banquets, business dinners, and girls' night out. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Hey, I'm Ito! I met up with an old friend in Ueno today. We were looking for a private room restaurant and found this place! We ordered the signature dish, oysters, and they were delicious with little smell and firm texture. The assorted delicacies were all new to me but tasted great, especially the big prawns with a fragrant aroma and firm texture. The sashimi was fresh and thick, very tasty! The Niigata brand Koshino chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I tried Koshihikari rice noodles for the first time and loved the amazing texture! The private room was quiet and the atmosphere and staff were nice. Thanks for the great meal!

It had been a while since I met up with my female friend, so we decided to go to a private room where we could have a private conversation. I had been to Sado Island before, so I was really looking forward to the food. My friend was running late, so I started off with a beer by myself (laughs). It had been a long time since I had used a completely private room at a restaurant, but it was nice because I didn't have to worry about other people around me. The menu had a lot of options, so I had a hard time deciding what to order. I couldn't resist ordering sashimi and specialty items that go well with sake. I thought about trying the oysters, but both my friend and I have allergies, so we had to pass on them. Here are some of the memorable dishes we tried: - Assorted colorful vegetables with miso dip: There was a lot of vegetables, so it's recommended for 3-4 people. The miso was rich, but there was enough to go around. - Assorted three specialty items: The flavors went well with sake or shochu. I was surprised to see mozuku included as a specialty item. - Dried sandfish: My friend loves sandfish, so we ordered this dish. It was light and went well with white wine. The portion size was just right for one person. - Niigata Wagyu beef tataki: We also ordered some meat to go with red wine. The meat was dipped in a refreshing sauce, allowing us to savor the flavor of the meat. The wine went down smoothly! This dish is also good for sharing among 3-4 people. Overall, the service was really fast from ordering to the dishes arriving at our table. My friend has a big appetite, so we ordered a lot of dishes, and our table quickly filled up (laughs). The server probably didn't expect two girls to order so much food. My friend practically ate the rice and yam by herself. I was already pretty full by then. The location is convenient, close to Ueno Station, and easy to find, so I would recommend it to those who don't come to Ueno often or travelers. There were still more dishes on the menu that caught my eye, so I would like to visit again!
