I met with the company representative for lunch after a long time. We both wanted the same thing to eat, so we looked it up on Tabelog and visited a place that served two types of double mackerel dishes. We ordered the salt-grilled and mirin-flavored varieties. Normally, you get half of each, but with the double order, you get a regular size of both types. It was quite a generous portion. The mackerel was cooked well, allowing you to eat even the bones, and it had a good mackerel flavor. Personally, I preferred the mirin flavor. Oh boy, I ate too much. If you order the double, I recommend getting extra rice. I'd like to come back here at night next time. Thank you for the meal!

The staff at this restaurant, recommended by another store employee, were really nice. The main branch is in Ningyocho and there are several branches. The recommended dish is the grilled fish skewers. The five skewers set is a great deal and delicious! When I asked for a recommendation for sake to go with it, they served me something really tasty! The seasonal appetizer was also good. The grilled squid had a generous portion. The staff were very friendly and made the experience enjoyable. However, I ended up drinking too much (lol).

I visited during a regular lunch time. It was just past 12 o'clock, but I had to wait for about 15 minutes, perhaps because there were more people in the city recently. I ordered the classic salmon bowl after a long time. It was rich in fat and the skin was also delicious. There was plenty of grated daikon radish, so I could eat it while refreshing my mouth.

I visited during lunchtime. Around 12 o'clock, I was able to sit at the counter. I ordered the seasonal limited menu, which was grilled swordfish with salt. The meat was thinner than I expected. I'm not sure if that's why, but there were a lot of bones, making it difficult to eat. The fat content was also not as high as I thought, so maybe it wasn't the right season for it.

I felt like eating fish again, so I visited the restaurant during lunchtime. It was just past 12 o'clock, but I was able to get in without waiting. Once again, I ordered the mackerel. That's three times in a row. It's light but has a good amount of fat, so it goes well with charcoal grilling. The rice goes down easily with wasabi and soy sauce.

The most popular item is the Salmon Harasu dried fish set for 880 yen, along with the extremely delicious fresh kimchi for 100 yen. The Salmon Harasu has just the right amount of fat and saltiness, paired with grated daikon for a light and refreshing taste that complements the rice well. It easily flakes apart with chopsticks, and I even enjoyed the skin. The kimchi adds a fantastic accent! It was described as spicy, but it had just the right level of spiciness and had a Japanese-style flavor. It's a great addition to the Salmon Harasu, providing a nice change of taste. Highly recommended.

I was wandering around Ueno looking for lunch options, and I felt like having fish. I decided to visit this restaurant. It was around 12:30 pm and there were a few empty seats. I was unsure of what to order, but I decided to go with the recommended mackerel. The fish was thick and fatty, and very delicious. The flavor was a bit mild, so it paired well with wasabi. I highly recommend trying it if it's on the menu.

I had a grilled fish set meal at a restaurant near Akihabara in Okachimachi along Showa Street. Looking back at the photos, I think it was yellowtail, although it wasn't on the regular menu, so maybe it was a recommended special. The combination of delicious white rice and grilled fish made me remember something important that I had forgotten. I really like the brown part of the yellowtail. Yellowtail can be quite expensive at the supermarket, and grilling (and cleaning up) is a hassle. It's a luxury to be able to eat grilled fish. If I had to say, it would be even better with grated daikon and ponzu sauce.

I went for lunch on a regular day. I arrived at 12 o'clock, and since it was not crowded, there were more than half of the seats available. Today's menu was grilled salmon belly. It arrived in about 10 minutes. It's delicious with a good amount of fat, and it has a satisfying volume.

I used to frequent a beloved charcoal grill restaurant, but lately I haven't been able to visit due to concerns about infection prevention measures. When I read a review from a reviewer I always follow, I found out about this place. It's almost identical to the restaurant I used to go to, from ordering outside to receiving a number ticket and being seated. The staff mentioned that while the original owners are different, it's like a sister store. The menu is slightly different, but everything else is the same. As for the taste, the aged salmon I tried had a unique texture and the charcoal flavor was lacking. The tea served was lukewarm. The seating was spaced out, which made me feel somewhat at ease. I'd like to try other dishes here in the future, and if I crave charcoal-grilled food, I'll come here.

A charcoal-grilled dried fish specialty restaurant near Naka-Okachimachi Station. They also serve lunch. I visited for a girls' night out event in the Ueno-Okachimachi area, which has become a monthly tradition. The interior has counter seats and table seats. We were seated at a spacious table in the back. We started with Kirin Lager (bottle/550 yen) and ordered various dishes, including walnut appetizers, kimchi, tsubugai with wasabi, potato salad with taro, grilled whole onions, seared beltfish sashimi, assorted grilled fish skewers, marinated red fish with sake lees, grilled chicken thigh with Kaga miso (double portion), and grilled salted pork belly (double portion). The grilled fish skewers and marinated red fish were particularly delicious. The restaurant also offers meat dishes, and I enjoyed a white Hoppy set (500 yen) while my friends switched to sake. The restroom is located on the second floor, accessed through the back door. We may have over-ordered, but the surprise birthday cake brought out by the handsome owner was a delightful touch. The cake was a chocolate cake from TOPS with a "25" candle, which was a lovely surprise as my birthday was four days prior. The staff were friendly and even gave me a gift. It was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to visiting again. The title is from the song "Dry Flower," which I've been enjoying lately.

On a regular day at 6:30 PM, we made a reservation and arrived at a restaurant located very close to Naka-Okachimachi Station, along Showa Street. It is just a 5-minute walk from JR Okachimachi Station. The entrance is a bit hidden despite being along the main street, but you can spot it by the straw curtain and the Cocoichi next to it. I visited alone last time and really liked it, so this time we went as a group of three. The restaurant has a long and narrow interior with no TV. There is a counter on the left side and table seating at the back. We ordered the following items:
- Kirin Lager (medium bottle) 550 yen
- Lemon Sour 380 yen
- Hoppy Set 500 yen x2, medium 250 yen
- Shochu Highball 350 yen
- Bakuren, Yuki-nakaume (pickled plums) each 900 yen
- Ichiro's Malt Highball 650 yen
- Rich Kimchi 350 yen
- Tsubugai with Wasabi 350 yen
- Potato Salad with New Onion 350 yen
- Grilled New Onion 450 yen
- Assorted Grilled Fish Skewers (5 pieces) 780 yen
- Red Fish Kasuzuke 650 yen
- Seared Swordfish Sashimi 550 yen
- Grilled Chicken Thigh with Kaga Miso (double portion) 800 yen
- Grilled Sasanishiki Pork with Salt (double portion) 800 yen
This restaurant mainly focuses on charcoal-grilled dishes and offers set meals until night, but they also have a great selection of drinks. From the national brands of whiskey for the highball to unique shochu labels, and even a variety of interesting sake options, the drink menu is impressive. The manager's eyes light up when talking about their recommended sake, showing how much they love alcohol. The appetizer this time was walnut small girls. Last time it was green onion and tuna skewers. Both appetizers cost 250 yen each and are quite satisfying. The fresh kimchi has a chewy texture and is delicious. The potato salad with taro has a rich texture and a gentle flavor, which I really like. And the grilled miso chicken and salt-grilled pork can be ordered with a choice of portion sizes. The highlight of the restaurant is the charcoal-grilled dishes. The dried fish, grilled to a crispy texture, is delicious. The skewers are priced around 200 yen each, making them easy to order. They even offer a great deal on a set of 5 assorted skewers. Today's recommendations were the seared swordfish and red fish kasuzuke. Both were thick and flavorful, and we enjoyed them. It's hard to enjoy a variety of grilled fish dishes alone, so it was great to be able to share them with friends this time. Of course, we couldn't resist trying some sake with the delicious fish. We tried two recommended sakes from the manager and even got a taste of an aged sake. We spent a delightful evening enjoying good food and drinks, even bringing in a birthday cake to celebrate. The staff were attentive and made sure we had a great time. This place is not super cheap, but it's also not too expensive. They have a clear intention when selecting drinks, and the dishes are perfect for those who enjoy drinking. In the lively area of Okachimachi, it's rare to find a place like this. Thank you for another enjoyable girls' night out. Happy 25th birthday again this year. And to the manager and staff, thank you very much for the wonderful meal.

Yesterday's lunch was at "Aburi-dokoro Hinazen" (Okachimachi branch) (photo 1). I had previously been to the Asakusabashi Ekimae branch, so this was my second time trying a new branch. Photo 2 shows the menu that was displayed in front of the restaurant. I entered the restaurant a little after 11:30. The staff asked me to order and pay first, so I did so at the register near the entrance. Then, I was guided to a counter seat. The restaurant was about 40% full, and the tables at the back were empty. However, by the time I finished eating, there was a line forming outside the restaurant. I ordered the "Salmon Harasu dried fish set meal (¥850)". It was served to me in 4-5 minutes (photo 3). The freshly grilled, hot, oily fish was a delight for fish lovers! I finished it in no time!! I really enjoyed my meal at "Aburi-dokoro Hinazen" and will definitely visit again in the future.

I was introduced to this restaurant by an acquaintance. They said the fish is delicious here. The staff is very friendly and provides great customer service. They recommended some sake for me, even though I don't know much about it, it seems very delicious! The food pairs well with the sake and there are plenty of delicious appetizers. I was told that each branch of the restaurant is different and interesting. I'm curious about the Asakusa branch as well. ❤️

I was taken to a lunch spot by my senior for the first time. The system was to order and pay at the entrance before taking a seat. The menu board outside had a variety of delicious looking items, and I was intrigued by the anglerfish and sea bream dried fish set meal, but the recommended lunch was inside the restaurant. I decided to order the silver salmon set meal for 880 yen without hesitation, and the order number I received was a Japanese playing card called "hanafuda." I had heard of hanafuda before, but it was my first time seeing one in person. The cards had beautiful illustrations. I was guided to a counter seat. Even though the restaurant played Western music, I didn't feel out of place because the sound of wind chimes accompanied the music. There was an iron wind chime near the entrance, and its design was different from a regular wind chime, so I enjoyed observing it while waiting for my food. Eventually, my food arrived. The rice was served in a traditional wooden box style, and you could choose the amount of rice you wanted. The regular size can be determined from the photo. As for the taste...

Since returning from the UK, I had been craving mackerel but when I arrived at the restaurant in Wheeling at 12 o'clock, they were sold out of mackerel salt. I ended up getting the "Bansuke Saba" dried mackerel instead, which is a high-quality dried fish from Fukushima. It tasted normal, nothing special. I wish they had mackerel miso on the menu too.

Today's lunch was a casual Japanese meal at what could be categorized as an izakaya lunch spot. I visited around 11:30, and from the outside, it was clear that it was an izakaya. You order and pay at the entrance before entering, so it's best to decide on your order from the menu outside. I chose the oyster fry set meal (980 yen) without hesitation. The receipt I received can be used for a special service during nighttime visits. The meal arrived in about 5 minutes - oyster fry, rice, miso soup, and pickles. You can get free refills of rice, and there's nori-tama on the table to add variety. The taste was solid, typical of an izakaya lunch. It seemed like many others were enjoying grilled fish dishes. I finished my meal satisfied and left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Last time, I went to my usual soba restaurant "Yudetaro" and saw a sign outside the shop advertising a "Mackerel Salt Set Meal @690 yen." I went last week and there was a line outside, so I gave up. Today, I went with my colleague S and this time we were able to get in without waiting. We paid 690 yen upfront and got a ticket before being seated. The Mackerel Salt Set Meal included grilled mackerel, pickles, a small bowl of rice, and miso soup. The grilled mackerel was a whole fish, quite large, with grated daikon radish. It was slightly dry but had a crispy skin. Overall, the taste was ordinary but decent, and considering the price, it was a good deal. I would definitely consider going back again.

Salmon belly dried fish set meal for 820 yen. I have known about this restaurant for many years, passing by it several times, but I never knew the name of the place. A colleague invited me to go, so this was my first visit. I entered at 11:35 am, and since you have to pay in advance, I had to decide on my order before entering the restaurant. There were so many menu options besides lunch, so I was really indecisive about what to order. Since it's a seafood restaurant, ordering a fish dish is a must, and I was immediately drawn to the salmon belly. I ordered it and it was served in about 10 minutes, with a very generous portion of belly. I took a bite and the fat content was really high, the seasoning was quite mild, and I started to crave a bit more salt. There was furikake available but it wasn't my favorite kind so I didn't use it. The belly was delicious at first with the fat, but it became a bit too rich towards the end. Unfortunately, the skin was burnt and had a bitter taste, which was a bit disappointing. I wasn't sure when to eat the grated daikon that came with it. I also didn't know when to squeeze the lemon, so I just did it after finishing the meal. Since it was quite fatty, the lemon helped to refresh my mouth. Overall, it was a tasty meal today. Used for lunch on November 6, 2019.
