Located about 3 minutes from Higashi-Ginza Station, near Kabuki-za, is "Ishidaya" run by a couple in traditional Japanese attire. Recently featured on the TV show "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai" as a popular lunch spot for delicious boiled fish in Ginza (open only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays), the restaurant has become even more popular. The couple, who enjoy visiting kilns, have recently acquired Mino ware dishes from their trip to Gifu. This adds to the charm of the restaurant, as diners can also enjoy the tableware. Today, I visited with the intention of trying the boiled fish. I opted to change the grilled fish in the "Basic Course" (¥9,500 including tax) to boiled fish for an additional ¥2,500. There is also a "Boiled Whole Fish Course" (¥11,000 including tax) available. The "Basic Course" consisted of a starter, a platter including bamboo shoots and wood buds, sushi rolls, simmered shrimp, rolled omelette, tofu with green peas, and other dishes. The soup had a unique aroma with a slice of yam on top. The sashimi platter included red snapper, blackthroat seaperch, and sea bream, each with a distinct flavor and texture. The main dish was the boiled fish, which I changed to kasago fish. The kasago had a delicate and elegant taste, with a rich broth. The side dish of simmered taro had a gentle flavor, and the mugwort gluten had a strong presence. The meal was accompanied by lotus root and shiso leaf rice, a new addition with a delightful aroma of shiso. For dessert, I opted for the "Hoshiei Liver" as a strong dish, which was like butter and highly recommended. Other options included homemade salted fish roe, pickled fish, and duck simmered in vinegar. The dessert choices included various traditional Japanese sweets and a choice of matcha. I had a delightful time listening to stories about meeting Matsuko in the studio. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Ishidaya is a place that I can only visit on my days off. I once came after 1 pm and they were already sold out and closed, which left me in tears. This time, I arrived around 11:45 am. The price of the set meal varies depending on the fish you choose. On this day, they had 4 types of simmered fish and a sashimi set meal (¥1,800) on the menu: - Silver cod ¥1,300 - Red sea bream ¥1,400 - Mackerel simmered in miso ¥1,500 - Sandfish ¥1,600 I chose the red sea bream simmered set meal (¥1,400). The size of the red sea bream was surprisingly large! The flesh was tender and juicy, and the simmered broth was light and elegant in flavor. The side dish of boiled potatoes was a nice palate cleanser with its fluffy texture. After finishing the rice, you get a complimentary dessert. On this day, it was agar jelly with black syrup and roasted soybean flour. If you have a small appetite, I recommend ordering less rice in advance. I also ordered less rice and it was just right for me.

On a regular day around 1 o'clock, I went alone. I sat at the end of the counter. I took off my shoes and put them in the shoe box myself. The cheerful and friendly female owner. The silver cod set meal was very delicious. You can have unlimited rice refills. It was freshly cooked in a clay pot. Be careful not to leave any rice, or you won't get dessert. The dessert was also very tasty.

The rice cooked in the kettle was very delicious! I often dine around Ginza, but I rarely come across rice of this quality. The photo shows a small portion that was served first, but we later had freshly cooked rice. You can have as much rice as you want. The mackerel miso stew set meal was 1,500 yen. The sashimi set meal for 1,800 yen also looked delicious. The mackerel was cut into small pieces, making it easy to eat. There was a man and a woman dining together, and the woman was friendly and initiated conversation. The restaurant has around 10 seats and is not very spacious, so it can get full quickly. It seemed like there were many regular customers.

<7.24-8.5 Small Solo Exhibition at Tappo-san> On 7.14, it was my first time visiting Ishidaya-san since they implemented the ticket system. The popular shop has been a bit harder to get into since they moved, but how is it recently? I snuck in around 12:30 after the first turnover was done. The place was full, but they quickly gave me a ticket and I only had to wait about 10 minutes at the front to get in, yay! I was seated at an open counter seat. The menu was a bit limited for the second round, but I was okay with it. The reliable Gindara was still there for my friend who always wants to try it. The menu had a "fatty" option, which got me excited. The couple's efficient operation had my meal in front of me in just 5 minutes. Perhaps they've gotten even faster due to their recent popularity. The Gindara, carefully simmered, was tender and flavorful, as always. The harmony with the broth was excellent. Delicious. The richness of the fish's fat was abundant. The side dishes were all good too. Having a proper lunch sets you up for a productive afternoon. Thank you as always for the dessert. The person next to me was impressed by the flounder (probably). The shop, which energetically supports the lunch crowd in East Ginza, gave me energy. I quickly gave up my seat to those waiting for the second round that had formed while I was eating... Focusing on the greens rather than the fish gives it a live feeling, so thank you for the feast. On Friday night, I overheard an intense conversation from a person who had transitioned from consulting to a business company. Next week, they're off to Thailand for an M&A inspection, so they're flying out from Haneda tomorrow... They were enjoying the thrill of having a business that they couldn't fully immerse themselves in during their consulting days, saying it's the best and that they work hard from 9:00 to 21:00, even on weekends... Leaving aside whether outsiders would call this "black" work, the sparkle in their eyes as they spoke said it all. After 23:00, the conversation continued with others on how to overcome the chasm. Is the only way through multiple store expansions? But isn't it best to do well with just one store? Oh, by the way, I actually bought a space (vacant store)... The endless discussion about work. It was a fun night where the line between work and personal time was blurred. I'll do my best too. Where should I go tomorrow?

Since the airing of "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai," the lunch restaurant Ishida-ya has been thriving with full seats and distribution of numbered tickets every day. I visited for the first time around 11:20 and had to wait in line. The restaurant was already full, so I was given number 5 and had to wait for 60 minutes before being seated. The operation was run by the female owner, the owner, and 3 staff in the back kitchen. On that day, the rockfish was sold out, so I ordered the mixed fish rice bowl with additional sashimi for an extra 1,300 yen plus 500 yen. The sashimi included grilled horse mackerel and rockfish, while the mixed fish rice bowl had red snapper and alfonsino. Everything was delicious, and even though there was some sauce left, I couldn't bring myself to drink it. However, the female owner surprised me by giving me a spoon, allowing me to drink it. Thank you very much. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

■Shop Information When it comes to famous simmered dishes in Ginza, 【Ishidaya】 is the place to go. Lunch is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. They distribute numbered tickets starting from 11:30 am, so it's recommended to arrive early. The later you arrive, the fewer fish options you will have to choose from. Recently, it seems to have gained popularity after being featured on a TV show called "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai" and was quite crowded. ■What I Ate ▶︎Mebaru (Rockfish) - ¥1800 ▶︎Sashimi Platter (two kinds) - ¥500 ▶︎Fluffy Tamago Kake Gohan (Egg over rice) - ¥100 The food arrived in about 15 minutes. A whole fish simmered in soy sauce. It had quite a few bones, making it a bit challenging to eat, and I personally prefer it if the flavor had penetrated more. On the other hand, I found the sashimi to be of high quality. The rice and miso soup were delicious, as expected from a traditional Japanese restaurant in Ginza. The overall rating of the restaurant may vary depending on the fish you choose. If you are a fan of simmered fish, I recommend giving it a try. On the Instagram account of "Nonaru Danshi no Tokyo Lunch Meshi" with 70,000 followers, delicious food from Tokyo and various regions across Japan is being introduced! I visited "Ishidaya" on the 21st after it was featured on a TV show, but they were unexpectedly closed due to a family emergency. I came back on the 26th and managed to get a good spot as the second person in line with a ticket. Initially seated at the counter, a friendly couple I met in line invited me to join them at a table. I ordered the Silver Cod Stew Set for 1300 yen, and was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary sashimi platter. The stew was so delicious that I asked for a spoon to savor every last drop. I poured the stew over the rice and it was amazing. I asked for a second helping of rice, and enjoyed some miso soup, pickles, and a delicious matcha pudding for dessert with hot tea. I will be moving on to my next meal now.

A little while ago, a restaurant in Ginza was featured on a TV show called "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai" for its lunch. I went there last week on a weekday morning, but there was a long line, so I had to give up. Normally, they are closed on Sundays, but I saw on SNS that they were open on Sundays and Mondays. Today, I arrived around 11:10 am before the opening time, and I was the 25th in line. The wife distributed numbered tickets, and I estimated that I would have to wait for about an hour, so I left my seat and returned around 12:30 pm. I was called in about 15 minutes later. Inside the restaurant, there were 6 counter seats and table seats at the back. The counter seats were sunken kotatsu style. The menu had sashimi set and simmered fish set. There were several types of fish for the simmered set, about 3 to 5 kinds. That day, they had miso-simmered mackerel, gindara, and another fish that I can't remember. You could also add two kinds of sashimi for an additional fee of 500 yen. The mackerel and another fish were sold out, so I ordered gindara simmered and two kinds of sashimi. Most customers ordered the additional sashimi. The dishes were all made at once and served within 10 minutes of ordering. I realized after drinking the miso soup that the simmered fish was not mackerel but gindara. It seemed busy, and the group of five who were served before me didn't say anything, so I left it as it was. The gindara was well seasoned, with just the right amount of sauce and few bones. The sashimi was two types of white fish, and the small side dishes and miso soup were delicious. It seems like a husband and wife run the restaurant together, and their friendly atmosphere was heartwarming. Thank you for the meal.

I tried to go last time, but there were over 20 people in line because it was the day after the broadcast of "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai," so I gave up. This time, I was lucky to get in on the second try. The oni kasago and mebaru were already sold out, so I had the simmered red sea bream instead. It had an exquisite flavor that made me sigh with delight from the first bite. The mizuna and burdock cooked together were also delicious, and I enjoyed it until the end without getting tired of it. I would like to come back to try a different type of simmered dish. Thank you for the meal.

After being introduced on TV, they were distributing numbered tickets. I really wanted to eat fish, so I decided to go here. I arrived around 12:40 and got a numbered ticket. The temperature that day was 22 degrees, quite hot. I wanted to wait in the shade outside rather than on the underground stairs, but I was surprised to see people lining up even with numbered tickets. However, the turnover seemed faster than expected, and by 1 pm, I was seated. The restaurant was not very spacious, with a counter and one table in the back. It was a calm atmosphere even for solo diners. Since the fish stew I wanted was sold out, I chose the miso-marinated mackerel. The set meal arrived promptly after being seated. The aroma made me excited, and when I saw the rice, it was shiny and each grain stood out - the most delicious-looking rice I've seen at a restaurant. The rice had a nice aroma and was cooked slightly firm to complement the stew and miso-marinated dish. I usually only eat about one bowl of rice, but this time I devoured two bowls as if the rice was the main dish. Not only the miso-marinated dish, but the side dishes were also delicious, with a gentle flavor that stood out, especially the simmered tofu and burdock. It was a satisfying day to encounter unforgettable flavors. I would like to visit again.

This is a Japanese restaurant in Higashi Ginza. Located underground, the lunch menu offers a choice between simmered fish or sashimi set meals. The price of the simmered fish varies depending on the type of fish, ranging from 1300 to 1800 yen. The restaurant has a counter and one tatami seating area. The underground location may have weak signal reception, but they offer WIFI. I ordered the Gindara (Alaskan cod) lunch set for 1300 yen and a sashimi plate for 500 yen. The Gindara was cooked to perfection with a rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture. It had a slightly sweet and elegant flavor. It was served with watercress, burdock root, and tofu, which complemented the fish broth well. The pickled Chinese cabbage and other side dishes were also exceptional. The sashimi plate, featuring sea bream and amberjack, was a great choice. The wasabi was delicious as well. The rice, cooked in a feather pot, was exceptionally tasty. The fact that you could get a rice refill was a nice touch. Good rice is essential for Japanese cuisine. For dessert, I had a cheesecake that was not too sweet and had a pleasant flavor. This restaurant offers high-quality Japanese lunch dishes.

Next to the Eel restaurant Torimatsu, there is a small entrance that can be easily overlooked. Visited around 12:10 with a wait of 4 people outside. Waited for 15 minutes to be seated. Ordered the simmered silver cod. I love silver cod simmered dishes and have tried many, but this one had a surprisingly light color yet a strong flavor. Had to get a second serving of rice (free). The flesh was so tender and delicious that I wanted a spoon to savor every bite. Wanted to pour the leftover broth over the rice, but couldn't due to the atmosphere. It was a quiet and cozy little restaurant, making for a peaceful lunch. The price of 1,300 yen is cheap. They may not open for lunch depending on the availability of fish, so be prepared to try another place if they're closed when you visit.

I went to a traditional Japanese restaurant that I have been a fan of since before the pandemic. They offer a lunch set with a variety of simmered fish dishes, including four different types of simmered dishes. Today, I chose the "silver cod" and it was delicious with a refined broth. The counter seating on tatami mats where you take off your shoes adds a calm and elegant atmosphere. Please note that the lunch is only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Taste and atmosphere both meet expectations. You can find a high-quality fish lunch in Ginza, just a short walk from Higashi Ginza. About a 5-minute walk from Higashi Ginza, towards the Muromachi area, there is a cozy Japanese restaurant with a serene atmosphere called "Ishidaya". Inside the restaurant, you take off your shoes and sit on chairs placed on tatami mats. You can relax and enjoy your lunch. The menu includes various simmered fish dishes and sashimi set meals. When I visited around 1 o'clock today, many of the simmered dishes were already sold out. I had the "Sashimi Assortment (1700 yen)" which included: "Sagoshi (young tilefish)" - thick slices of sashimi with a concentrated, slightly aged flavor unique to tilefish. "Buri (yellowtail)" - thick slices of sashimi with a moderate amount of fat and elegant umami. "Hirame (flounder)" - firm white flesh with a firm yet tender texture and elegant umami. "Ika (squid)" - a chewy texture typical of bigfin reef squid. It also had an elegant umami flavor. The pickles were salted cabbage with shiso and sesame. The side dish and miso soup were also delicious. The dessert, mitarashi tofu, with sweet red bean paste, was excellent. I would love to try the simmered dishes next time. It was delicious!!! Thank you for the meal!!!

The restaurant is located near Toei Higashi-Ginza Station. Turn left after Kabuki-za, pass the American sandwich shop, and it's in the basement of the eel restaurant building. The smell of eel sauce can guide you to the restaurant. The shop is a bit hidden from the sidewalk with no sign, so visibility is not the best. It opens at 11:30, and the owner comes with a lantern with the restaurant's name on it. The restaurant feels like it's on the 2nd basement floor even though it's technically on the 1st. There are counter seats and table seats in the back, and the shop is quite small. You take off your shoes and put them in the shoebox. The table seats are sunken kotatsu style, which is nice. The boiled fish here is said to be delicious. On the day I visited, they had soy, small sea bream, mackerel miso stew, and silver cod. I decided to order the soy. Soy is not very familiar to people in Kanto, but it's popular in Hokkaido where it is often caught. Soy is in season in winter, and unlike rockfish or greenling, it's not very fatty. The soy served was slightly small. It came with rice, miso soup, and pickles. By the way, you can get a refill of rice, but if you leave rice, you won't get dessert. The soy meat is firm, and the slightly sweet sauce is well-balanced. It comes with komatsuna and tofu on the side. The rice is shiny with a crispy texture, probably cooked in a pot. The portion of rice may seem small to men. The dessert was like a panna cotta made of tofu. It has a smooth texture and is refreshing. It might be good for those who like boiled fish. They also offer a sashimi assortment for lunch.

I arrived after 12 o'clock and had to wait a bit because the restaurant was full. Luckily, all four types of boiled fish were still available. Today, I decided to try the "Kodai" (1400 yen). When the whole fish was brought to my table, I felt really excited. As soon as I took a bite, the fish was incredibly soft and delicious with a refined flavor. When I was a child, I didn't really appreciate the taste of fish, but as I've gotten older, I've come to love its delicate flavor. I savored every bite and enjoyed the daikon, mizuna, and tofu that accompanied the fish. The pickles and simmered small fish on the side dish were also delicious. Even though it seemed like a small portion, it was enough to have another bowl of rice. Looking at other customers, even slender women were getting a rice refill, which made sense to me. I finished my meal feeling truly happy. For dessert, I had mitarashi tofu. It had a chewy texture and was delicious, but I wonder if it's really made from tofu... a bit of a mystery.

Visited on a Sunday around 11:30 am and there were two people ahead of me in line. I thought I would have to wait about 30 minutes until the first round of customers left, but unexpectedly ended up waiting for 50 minutes (with no one leaving during that time). I guess the group customers were having a lively conversation. The second round of customers left in 10 minutes, so it doesn't seem like the turnover is slow. It's all about timing. It seems like it's better to either line up before the opening or after 12:30 pm to avoid waiting. The waiting area is dimly lit, so bringing a book for entertainment might be challenging. Ordered the "Gindara" for 1300 yen. The Akou was sold out after the first round, so I couldn't have a whole fish, which was disappointing. It only took 5 minutes from ordering to serving. The Gindara was moist and tender with a nice amount of fat. The slightly sweet rice paired well with it. The glossy rice is refillable. The side dishes, miso soup, and dessert (mizu kanjyan) were all delicious. If you leave rice uneaten, you won't get dessert. The counter has 6 seats, with dividers between them for privacy. You can see the cooking process, so it's not boring. You need to take off your shoes at the entrance. The atmosphere is quiet but relaxed, with many regular customers. The food was delicious, but waiting for almost an hour was tiring, so I'll deduct points for that.

This is my first visit to a restaurant rumored to have delicious fish. I was a bit nervous because lunch is limited to certain days and there can be long lines, but luckily I was able to get in easily. You have to take off your shoes at the entrance and sit on small chairs at the counter. The clean interior is cozy and spacious. I arrived around 12:15 and two out of the four daily simmered fish options were already sold out. I chose the popular "silver cod" (1200 yen). First, I tried the miso soup which had a simple yet delicious taste, with chewy wakame seaweed. The main dish, the tender silver cod, had a fatty white flesh and a sweet and gentle flavor - it was so delicious! The accompanying potatoes had a nice texture, and the crispy watercress added a good balance. I really love tofu soaked in the broth, so I mixed it with the rice. If there was a set meal like this every day, I would want to eat it all the time. The side dishes and pickles were not flashy but you could feel the care put into them. The dessert was a refreshing plum jelly. Personally, I tend to lose my appetite in the summer and avoid rice, but today I was able to enjoy this set meal so much that it made me feel relieved that my summer fatigue was over. It was a lunch that put me in a good mood.

I used to visit this restaurant for lunch and dinner gatherings, but this time was a long-awaited visit. The dishes are generally delicious with a gentle dashi base, and the grilled, simmered, and steamed fish and vegetables are presented beautifully. The sashimi is always top-notch! The light kombu appetizer goes well with sake. The rice dish at the end is always good. This time it was ginger rice, and my companion kept saying "So delicious!" as they piled on seconds. They even packed up the leftover rice as a souvenir. It would be even better if there were more variety in the types of sake available. With meticulous work, friendly service, and reasonable prices for a Ginza address, this is a great restaurant that you can't go wrong with. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Ishiday@Ginza 3-chome is a favorite Japanese restaurant that offers a limited lunch menu on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (closed on 6/24). If you're lucky, you might get to try their boiled fish dish, which is highly sought after. The restaurant opens before lunchtime, and customers line up early for a chance to enjoy the boiled fish, which is served on a first-come, first-served basis. Surprisingly, there was no line around 12:40, and they still had boiled fish available. The restaurant has a cozy counter seating setup, where customers can enjoy their meal comfortably. I highly recommend their boiled fish dish, which comes with a whole fish in a slightly sweet broth. The restaurant is one of my top three favorite places for Japanese cuisine in Ginza. Please note that the fish selection may vary depending on the day's catch. The lunch menu is only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and they close once they run out of food. Cash only, no reservations accepted. Closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Saturday evenings are open for dinner only. Operating hours are 11:30 am to.
