Today, I had a date in Shinjuku♡ I went for drinks with someone I hadn't seen in a while. We chose Toriichizu for our meeting. I made a reservation just in case, and it was a smart move. It seems this place is quite popular, as it was fully booked. I arrived a bit early and checked out the menu. I was intrigued by the large jugs of drinks. Since the yakitori here is said to be delicious, I was having a hard time deciding what to eat. I love yakitori (^-^) My companion arrived on time, and we toasted to our reunion. For food, we ordered tsukune (meatballs) 3 types for 849 yen, sasami (chicken tenderloin) 3 types for 849 yen, kashiwa (chicken thigh) for 299 yen, liver for 299 yen, vegetables like shishito pepper for 149 yen, tomato for 149 yen, and Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) for 1480 yen. We also ordered the Itto Salad for 499 yen, excluding tax. Mizutaki can be ordered per person, so we just ordered one serving. The pot arrived promptly. The collagen-rich broth looked so smooth. The Itto Salad was an interesting mix of tofu, nagaimo (yam), and chicken. It was quite generous, enough for 3 to 4 people. The skewers were all large! We shared them, so we took them off the skewers, but they were all delicious! The sasami was juicy. We ordered a huge jug of additional drinks. Wow, it's heavy! It felt like it could cause tendonitis. It didn't seem to decrease no matter how much we drank... but it did go down eventually. We also ordered more sake. We had a brief discussion about sake. My companion seemed to have a particular brand they didn't like and were practicing drinking it. When we compared, it did have a different taste from the one they had been drinking. Hmm, sake is deep. The good thing about drinking with a small group is that you can have deep conversations, right? We chatted about various things, and before we knew it, 2 hours had passed. The seating here is limited to 2 hours. After that, my companion took me to an interesting place. I can't review the place, but it was a lot of fun. Shinjuku is really enjoyable! If you like Showa-era songs, you might have been there before, I think. I had a great time this day. I got quite drunk, and the way back home was a bit dicey. Luckily, I made it home safely. Be careful not to drink too much.
