☆Visit after 3 and a half years of being smoke-free! I tried to go a few months ago, but it was crowded so I gave up. It's been difficult to go due to the situation with COVID. This day, Friday at 6 pm. I thought it might be impossible, but the counter for 2 people (or 3?) near the entrance was available, so we sat there. I was happy because I wanted to drink at this seat. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves for about an hour. The owner seemed energetic, which was nice to see. There was a foreign woman in the hall working briskly. And now that it's smoke-free, I can drink without worry! There were signs saying "No smartphone games" and "Toilet is on the station side, go out and take the right stairs to the 2nd floor." First, I took a photo of the menu written on a white board and ordered while looking at it slowly. I usually have a set dish that I always order. The drink menu is on the table. First, I ordered a highball for 440 yen and Hoppy white for 550 yen. *All prices include tax. The dishes we ordered were: - Pacific saury sashimi for 440 yen. It has been a while since I had delicious Pacific saury sashimi. It melts in your mouth. - Miso-marinated fish for 470 yen. It has a refreshing taste with plenty of condiments, which I prefer over the rich miso flavor. The crispy green onion is great. - Tofu with seaweed for 420 yen. My husband's favorite. The soft texture is nice. The seaweed soup is delicious, so it's good for finishing. - Meatball hot pot for 570 yen. This was for me. Soft meatballs, leeks, and tofu. The soup has a good flavor, warms the body, and makes you feel relieved. In the previous review, the Pacific saury sashimi and miso-marinated fish were 350 yen each. Even though they were under 500 yen, they felt like a good deal. Also, they introduced a "tomato sake," so I tried the tomato Hoppy for 550 yen. It's a little sweet with shochu, and you can choose black or white Hoppy to mix with. I chose white. I thought it would be bright red, but it's just slightly red. I feel like I might get drunk quickly if I drink sweet alcohol, in my case. It's nice that there are tables to place the finished plates and glasses. It was my first visit in a long time, but I still love this place! *Record of non-smoking or smoking. Taste is a personal impression..

On a regular day, I entered the restaurant at 7:30 PM. The standing bar had a maximum of about 12 people, but there were only 7 people inside. There is no parking lot in the middle of Tokyo. On the second day of my business trip, since I had beef tripe yesterday, I decided to go for fish today. Since Iwashi Ryori Omatsusan was full of salarymen, I didn't have time to wait and went to the standing bar Omatsusan instead. I ordered a sashimi platter with seared bonito, amberjack (probably), sardines, edamame, and recommended shiokonbu. I also had tekka maki, natto maki, striped horse mackerel, and a complimentary sardine. I enjoyed miso soup, beer, and two highballs, all for 4000 yen. The sashimi was delicious, especially the seasonal bonito. The greenery of early summer in Tokyo was perfect. The amberjack also had a nice fatty texture. The beer had a lot of foam, and the staff apologized for it. The rolls were all delicious, and the chef skillfully prepared them. The complimentary miso soup with a strong dashi flavor was the best part. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I will try the sardine dishes.

Visited around 1 pm. Only one group inside. Lunch time was about 20 minutes. Nigiri lunch set for 900 yen (tax included), comes with 9 pieces and miso soup. The location, just a 10-second walk from the station, is great, but for 900 yen, the standing sushi at Kanda lunch was a bit lacking. There are other sushi restaurants nearby like Edokko Sushi where you can sit and eat. However, the rice was slightly warm and the sushi was well-made! It might be nice to have a few pieces as a snack with some sardines before finishing off with the last few pieces of sushi.

I love sardines, so I knew about this restaurant for a while. It was my first visit and the sardine tartare was delicious! The sardine sashimi was also fresh and tasty. They prepared the sashimi and tartare right after we ordered, so you know it's fresh and delicious. It was a bit of a standing bar, but it felt luxurious to have a drink there. Definitely worth the price!

I have never seen a shop that specializes in sardines like this before. The sardines were completely fresh and had no fishy smell, they were amazing. The sashimi was very fatty and delicious. The fish ball soup was unexpectedly fluffy and also delicious. The sardine simmered dish had a sweet seasoning and was cooked thoroughly. I had never seen a menu item like the seaweed tofu before. It had a gentle flavor and you could taste the umami of the seaweed directly. It had a comforting taste. Ordered: Sardine sashimi 880 yen Fish ball soup with ponzu sauce 550 yen Simmered sardines 580 yen Seaweed tofu small 380 yen

【Solo Activity Day in Kanda 1/2】Today is a solo activity day. Since I don't have any friends or seniors with me, I decided to get off at the somewhat inconvenient station of Kanda. My destination is a place I admire called "Tachinomi Oomatsu," which was reviewed by my acquaintance senpai, "Hoppy Baseball." Upon arrival at the shop at 6:30 pm on the day before a holiday, I found a small shop with about 10 people sitting at the L-shaped counter and 2-3 people at the counter near the entrance. The shop was playing BGM of Showa era singers, which made me feel calm like an old man. Oh, "Momoiro Toiki" is playing. The customers ahead of me seemed to be regulars, enjoying their drinks side by side. I took a look at the menu on the opposite side of the L-shaped counter. [Menu for this visit] - Tomato Hoppy 550 yen - Hoppy (medium) 280 yen x 2 - Iwashi sashimi 440 yen - Grilled iwashi 470 yen - Tsumire with ponzu sauce 440 yen - Saketomoe (pickled squid) 470 yen After working overtime, I decided to go for a solo activity. Since tomorrow is a holiday and I saw the Tomato Hoppy for the first time, I decided to give it a try! According to the staff, it uses tomato liqueur instead of shochu, giving it a refreshing tomato aroma. I tried it with white Hoppy to not disturb the taste of the tomato. When I tried it, it was light and very delicious Hoppy! (laughs) From the second glass onwards, I switched back to my usual shochu and had white Hoppy. [Iwashi sashimi] The dish arrived! It looks so "beautiful!" I feel like shouting! (laughs) It has a good amount of fat and the small bones are not bothersome. And the ginger as a condiment for the sashimi is the best match! I love iwashi sashimi! [Grilled iwashi] Soft and fluffy! The sweet and savory sauce is very nice. Plus, you get an additional half iwashi with each piece. This extra amount is a delight! I want to make a grilled iwashi rice bowl with this deliciousness. [Tsumire with ponzu sauce] A delightful surprise! I imagined it to be a meaty iwashi dumpling, but it turned out to be a very fluffy and delicious tsumire. It has a soft texture, maybe with a lot of wheat? But this soft tsumire is great! Eating it with grated daikon, which is quite spicy! The spiciness of the grated daikon is so strong that it becomes a refuge. The taste of ponzu sauce is so spicy that it becomes a refuge. [Saketomoe (pickled squid)] Iwashi with the umami of shiokara! That's the feeling. I ended up ordering it towards the end, and the amount of this pickled squid makes you wonder if you need another drink! Do you have to order it? You get that feeling. A menu that you should have ordered from the beginning! It's incredibly delicious! (laughs) [Recommended this time] - Tsumire with ponzu sauce! I was pleasantly surprised by the soft and fluffy dumplings! As expected of "Iwashi," they make it after you order! Saketomoe is also hard to resist! (laughs) [Editor's Note] - Foodlog score at the time of visit: 3.57 - The young girl next to me ordered Japanese sake and hoya! A cool choice. - The regular customers seem to change frequently! The conversation of the shop owner is intriguing. - Even with many regulars, you don't have to be too concerned about the atmosphere. [Ratings for this visit] Overall: 3.8 Taste: 4.5 Service: 3.5 Atmosphere: 3.5 Cost performance: 4 Drink: 3 Thank you for the delicious iwashi. It was a feast. Next time, maybe I'll try a menu other than iwashi!? I'll be back.

For those of you who: ⚪︎ Love sardines! ⚪︎ Want to have a quick drink! ⚪︎ Are looking for an izakaya in Kanda! 【Menu we ordered】 ■ Sardine sashimi 440 yen ■ Namerou (minced sardine with miso) 470 yen ■ Tsumire (fish ball) with ponzu sauce 440 yen ■ Fugu skin with ponzu sauce 390 yen ■ Potato salad 330 yen ■ Hoppy beer 550 yen / 280 yen for a medium size ■ Tarusaku highball 440 yen This standing izakaya specializes in sardine dishes! The quiet and reserved master is actually very kind and loved by everyone, while the cheerful and friendly female owner manages the place. I love the atmosphere here! Without even entering the restaurant, you'll hear greetings like "Master, are you doing well today?" from both men and women at the entrance, showing how beloved they are! Regular customers all agree that "the dishes made by the master here are the best!" You must try the "sardine sashimi"! It's fresh, fatty, and melts in your mouth. The "namerou" was recommended by a regular customer, and it was indeed delicious! It has a refreshing taste with a nice kick from the condiments. They say if you don't try these two dishes, there's no point in coming here, so be sure to order them! Although the "tsumire with ponzu sauce" was also tasty, the regulars suggested trying the "tsumire hot pot" next time, so that's definitely on my list! Also, I heard that the "fresh seaweed tofu" at this place is a must-try, so give it a shot if you visit! With a limited number of seats, a great atmosphere, good value for money, delicious food, and drinks, I've decided to become a regular here! Who wants to join me? 【Shop's Specialties】 ⚪︎ A standing izakaya specializing in sardine dishes! ⚪︎ No smartphone games allowed! (This note is a nice touch) 【Atmosphere】 ⚪︎ Counter-style seating where the master cooks in front of you! ⚪︎ Many regular customers, but the atmosphere is welcoming! ⚪︎ Slightly old building, but it adds to the charm! ⚪︎ About 15 seats or so. 【Service】 ⚪︎ The female owner is friendly and easy to talk to! ⚪︎ She will also recommend the daily specials! ⚪︎ Depending on the dish, the service, including drinks, is fast! 【Customer Base】 ⚪︎ Many salarymen in suits! ⚪︎ Lots of regular customers! ⚪︎ It may be lively, but with limited seating, it's easy to strike up a conversation!

I have never had such delicious "iwashi" before! The horse mackerel sashimi and the sardine sashimi were amazing. I had about 3.4 cups of sake, 2.3 cups of shochu, and 1 beer. The food was so good that I lost track of my bill, but I was extremely satisfied and surprised by the high quality of the dishes, all priced at one coin or less. I want to come here every day.

I finally went to the "Tachinomi Oomatsu" that I missed the other day because it was too early to open. When I arrived around 5 o'clock, it was already mostly full. I squeezed in and managed to secure a spot. The atmosphere was great, with regular customers who seemed to be coming from work, both men and women, enjoying drinks and chatting happily. The older master behind the counter at the open kitchen responded with a smile when a regular customer greeted him, saying "I have changed a lot." His interactions with customers were cool and his standing posture while working at the cutting board was impressive. We started with some delicious sashimi of sardines, followed by some fugu skin as a tasty snack. We also ordered some fried sardines to balance out the protein intake. We enjoyed the atmosphere at Oomatsu while having some more drinks. It's a great place to have a good time.

Visited for a drink. A standing bar under the Kanda Station guard, specializing in seafood dishes. They serve sardines, raw saury, and other blue fish that are not typically served as sashimi with a soy sauce and vinegar dipping sauce. The freshness is crucial, and there is no unpleasant smell. Especially recommended is the live sea squirt, which has a slightly bitter yet smooth taste, and is affordable and casual.

After a long time, I visited Omatsuzushi in Kanda, a typical shop in the area. The highlight was the horse mackerel namero, which paired perfectly with sake. As an additional dish, we ordered boiled squid, which was incredibly tender. The star of the meal, the namero, lived up to our expectations. The chef was constantly tapping his knife each time an order came in. Watching this process added to the appreciation of the namero. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

During the visit in October 2022, we had 3.58 lemon sours for 390 yen each, black Hoppy for 550 yen, sashimi of sardines for 440 yen, minced raw fish for 470 yen, fried chicken for 470 yen, two glasses of 280 yen sake, a barrel-aged Kikumasamune Junmai sake for 530 yen, plum and shiso pounded dish for 470 yen, Sumiyoshi Junmai sake from Yamagata for 650 yen, spicy cod roe salad for 470 yen, and a lemon chu-hi for 390 yen. The total bill came to 5,780 yen. After drinking sake at Koushu, we went to this place. It had been about four years since our last visit. When we arrived, the place was packed. We tried to go to the main store where we could sit and drink, but it seemed fully booked. We decided to wait and eventually got a spot outside. The black Hoppy was a good start. We ordered the sashimi and minced raw fish right away, as they are must-try items here. The fresh sardines were delicious and satisfying. We also tried the fried chicken with mayonnaise, which paired well with the Hoppy. The plum and shiso pounded dish was a great match with the sardines. We ordered Kikumasamune sake and Sumiyoshi sake to go with our food. The spicy cod roe salad was a bit underwhelming compared to the other dishes. We finished with a lemon chu-hi for a refreshing end to the meal. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at this popular spot in Kanda, and we would recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Today I visited Kanda. I finally got to visit Tachinomi Oomatsu, a standing bar I've been wanting to go to. I arrived just in time before their last order at 9pm and stood at the counter. I started with a shochu highball. For food, I had the following: ● Raw sardines ● Vinegared sea pineapple ● Raw minced fish ● Blowfish skin with ponzu sauce ● Ginkgo nuts ● Tofu with seaweed The sashimi had no fishy smell and was very delicious. The raw minced fish was the best I've ever had. The alcohol went down smoothly. Next, I had sweet potato shochu on the rocks, which went perfectly with the food. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely visit again!

[First Visit on August 20, 2022] A restaurant located under the JR line guard opposite the "Kanda Station" intersection at the east exit (towards Chuo-dori) of JR Kanda Station. It was the 20th day of the 2022 Kanda Curry Grand Prix stamp rally. As it was a Saturday and the restaurants were closed, I headed to the stamp rally a bit later than planned. The challenge of this stamp rally was that it was only available during weekday lunch hours. As someone who does not work in the Kanda area, it was a high hurdle for me. However, due to capacity constraints, the restaurant announced a change in venue, making it possible to visit during lunchtime on a Saturday. When I arrived around 1:10 PM, there was only one other customer. I decided to order the "Sardine Curry" mentioned in the guidebook. The dish arrived in just 3 minutes. Priced at 600 yen, it looked impressive for the cost. The dish consisted of sardines on a bed of multi-grain rice seasoned with dashi, topped with a fried egg. Surrounding it were sardine pieces in curry sauce and cabbage pickles. Now, time to taste it! The flavor was surprising, with a strong saltiness dominating over spiciness or sweetness. Even as I continued eating with the multi-grain rice, the saltiness remained strong. Adding the "Spicy Nuts" provided on the table helped balance the flavors with the sweetness of bonito flakes and the nutty aroma. However, the overall saltiness was unyielding, which may have been intentional given the nature of the establishment as a standing bar. After finishing the meal, I wondered how it would have tasted without the saltiness. Nonetheless, the curry was undeniably rich in spices, with no overwhelming heat, making it a unique experience. If it wasn't limited to lunchtime, the experience might have been different. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the Kanda Curry GP because Oomatsu, a restaurant specializing in sardine dishes, was participating. However, I was directed to a nearby standing bar called Oomatsu where they were serving the Sardine Curry. I walked a short distance to the small standing bar with just a counter. The Kanda Curry GP website had announced that there would be a delay in serving, so they had changed the location of the offering. I hesitated a bit because the Sardine Curry was listed as 600 yen, when it was supposed to be over 1000 yen. I checked with the staff, but there didn't seem to be any issue. Inside the bar, there was a friendly guy behind the counter. Since it was a late visit, there were no other customers. They were open at night, but they decided to offer lunch curry during the daytime. The menu listed three types of curry ranging from 500 to 700 yen. I ordered the Sardine Curry for 600 yen. There was an option to add sardine fry for an additional 200 yen, making the total 800 yen. Oomatsu usually serves lunches around 500 yen, so I was hesitant to order the Sardine Curry which was originally over 1000 yen. However, with this price, I could order without hesitation. I paid in cash when I ordered. Now, based on my own criteria for the Kanda Curry GP, I will evaluate the following items on a scale of 5. - Taste of the curry: 3.5. You can taste the sardines in the curry. Occasionally, you come across something hard that seems like a bone, but if you think they are using sardines properly, it's acceptable. It's a collaborative work where Oomatsu uses their prepared sardines and MINGLE TANGLE finishes it with their original spices. - Amount of curry roux: 3.5. Just the right amount. - Amount and taste of rice: 3.5. The rice, cooked with dashi in multigrain rice, is delicious on its own. Extra serving is +100 yen. - Cost performance: 3.5. The Sardine Curry alone, without the option, is 600 yen! - Side dishes: 3.5. There is a fried egg on top of the rice which is pre-made. Homemade pickles are also served. The pickles are good, so I wanted more! For a change of taste, there are MINGLE TANGLE's homemade spicy nuts in a small dish placed on the table. However, even this is good on its own. - Other notes: 2.5. It's understandable since it's a standing bar, but the height of the chairs and counter doesn't match. I am tall, and even I found it hard to eat with my face so close to the table, so shorter people might struggle even more. It would have been better if there were no chairs and it was a standing-only setup. The topping of sardine fry was disappointing as it was pre-made and cold. It would have been better if it was freshly fried. Thank you for the meal.

After finishing a group drinking party after two years, I head towards Kanda Station. Feeling good with sirloin and red wine, I couldn't just go home. Before I knew it, I was in front of this restaurant. Usually, I would arrive right when it opens or wait in line, but it was past 8 pm, so I just walked in. - Ginban Daiginjo: I ordered a good sake even though I was already drunk, and Ginban was the choice. - Namero: I needed something refreshing, and Namero was the only option. I paired it with Ginban. Sipping and nibbling, I couldn't tell if it was the right choice since I was already tipsy, but it felt lighter than usual. Maybe my taste buds were numb from the rich food, but I felt like it needed a bit more miso flavor. - Tateyama: One drink wasn't enough. In Toyama, Tateyama is the go-to. As it was the second round, I settled the bill after just having Namero. I felt the need to reevaluate the impression I had of Namero.

A standing bar that specializes in sardine dishes, offering sardine sashimi, sardine namero (minced sardine with miso and other seasonings), sardine with umeboshi (pickled plum) and shiso leaf, and sardine kabayaki (grilled sardine with sweet soy sauce). The sardine sashimi is delicious with no fishy taste, just the sweet richness of the fat spreading in your mouth. The bones are minimal, making it easy to eat even for those who are not fond of fish bones. A must-try menu item. The namero is exceptional! The sound of the chef chopping the ingredients rhythmically with a knife is soothing, and the dish is flavorful enough to be enjoyed on its own. The addition of green onions, ginger, and shiso leaves provide a subtle but essential balance to the dish, enhancing the overall flavor. The texture of the crunchy green onions adds a delightful accent to the dish. The seasoning, possibly miso or sesame oil, adds a pleasant aroma. It goes well with drinks and could also be enjoyed as a rice bowl for lunch. The sardine with umeboshi and shiso leaf is larger in size compared to namero. It has a refreshing taste, but ordering it alongside namero may overshadow its presence, so caution is advised when ordering. It could be a good palate cleanser after the namero. The sardine kabayaki emits an enticing aroma even while being cooked. It is served flambéed with a soft texture rather than crispy. It is quite saucy, making it a perfect topping for rice. A great dish to finish off your meal. The chef handles the cooking alone, so waiting for dishes is inevitable but worth it. There are other tempting dishes on the menu besides sardine, but the variety of sardine dishes is so extensive that there is no room left to try anything else. A luxurious dilemma. Nevertheless, the namero is a must-try.

I often go to standing bars alone, and I have always been curious about this place. The entrance is narrow, so I tend to pass by without noticing it. Despite being a standing bar, they don't have fried food like typical izakaya menus. However, they offer a wide variety of other items, which I find very appealing. The prices are a bit high due to the location, and the selection of sake is limited and expensive. Nevertheless, the skills of the elderly chef are truly impressive. You can tell by watching how he prepares dishes like raw sea squirt and cod. The middle-aged man who manages the place also provides great customer service. The dynamic between these two is lovely and can be felt by customers in the small shop. This standing bar was a great discovery for me! I will definitely come back, even though it's hard to choose among so many places to visit!
