I received the monthly chef's special course for 12,100 yen. We started with a rice wine aperitif to toast! The meal included rice porridge, Japanese-style bagna cauda, sushi, and an assortment of small dishes served with rice champagne as appetizers. The presentation and taste were beautiful and seasonal. The highlight was the silver rice dish! We enjoyed a 2-person portion of rice in a clay pot, with different levels including plain rice, luxurious rice (this month's was pufferfish), and tea-soaked rice crust. The accompanying toro and luxurious rice with pufferfish were truly delicious and impressive. My partner, who loves rice, wanted seconds of the plain rice but was informed that additional rice starts at 2,000 yen for 2 servings and takes about 30 minutes. If you love rice and plan to eat a lot, it might be a good idea to request extra rice in advance. This course is a must-try for rice lovers and even those who may not be interested in rice. It will likely change your perception of rice. The food and service at this restaurant are excellent, but if I had to point out a downside, it would be the restroom. The shelves were filled with towels and toilet paper, leaving no space to place bags. Most women who visit such restaurants tend to freshen up their makeup after the meal. It would be appreciated if they could create enough space in a clean and safe area for clutch bags or pouches.

I had heard that the taste of a rice specialty restaurant in Kyoto could also be enjoyed in Ginza. I had a delicious meal in Kyoto, so I had been wanting to visit the Ginza branch for a while. The lunch reservations online were already fully booked for weekends far in advance, so I decided to try my luck with the same-day reservation slots. I arrived at 10:00 to sign up for a spot. There were already about 10 groups of names written in the reservation slots, with additional names being added below for same-day reservations. After signing up, I returned to the restaurant at 10:50 when they started calling out names. The seating capacity inside the restaurant is limited, so for groups of 4 people, they may have to wait for the second round of seating. Due to cancellations for reserved slots, we were able to get a spot for two people in the first round. The tables were divided by partitions for two people to sit side by side, which was a unique and efficient setup. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was welcoming with a Kyoto-like ambiance and gentle background music. For the meal, we ordered the Gionbei's Special Rice Bowl Set with Silver Vinegar Rice (limited to 20 servings, ¥2,590). The freshly cooked rice was fluffy and shiny, served hot. The tempura, soy sauce-marinated salmon roe, fresh wheat gluten, simmered fish, pickles, sashimi, hijiki seaweed, and shredded dried fish with Japanese pepper all paired well with the rice. The set also came with dashi for making ochazuke. We also ordered an egg, so we finished the meal with egg over rice, which was delicious with the savory soy sauce and mildness of the egg. Refills of rice were available, but one serving was satisfying enough. It was a delicious meal.

This was my first time visiting such an authentic restaurant, and I felt a sense of excitement. The porridge at the beginning was delicious, and I eagerly awaited the other menu items. I don't usually eat much fish, but I was able to enjoy a lot of fish at this restaurant. Fish is really delicious, isn't it? The rice, freshly cooked, was naturally tasty, and you can even eat the crispy bits at the bottom of the pot. Even the dessert was delicious, and I left the dinner feeling completely satisfied.

I went on Saturday afternoon. When I arrived right at opening time, there were a lot of people lined up. There was a paper with names and number of people to write on. I wrote my name and was told to come back around 12:10. I was happy to be able to make a reservation and not have to wait in front of the restaurant. At that time, I had to order what I wanted to eat. Once seated, the food I ordered came out quickly, which was nice. I had the limited 20-dish set meal for 2,590 yen. Miso soup → flavorful and delicious, with burdock inside. Rice → generous portion, a bit firm with a core in the middle. I prefer softer rice... but I enjoyed the crispy rice with sesame salt. Side dishes → tempura (shrimp, eggplant, okra, white fish, hot and tasty), ikura, sashimi (chewy and delicious), dried small fish, simmered hijiki (a bit of an acquired taste...), pickles, fresh wheat gluten, simmered saury. The simmered saury was the most rice-friendly flavor. They quickly refilled my tea and were attentive to my need for more rice, which I appreciated. However, it felt like they wanted us to leave quickly once we finished eating, pressuring us to pay and leave, which was unpleasant.

First, I sprinkled salt on the crispy rice to savor the flavor, then enjoyed half of the sea bream sashimi with special soy sauce on the rice. Finally, I mixed the remaining sea bream with raw egg on rice. The sea bream was delicious, and I was surprised by how tasty the rice was. I thought I might not be able to finish the three times the usual amount of rice I had, but it was so delicious that I ate it all. We entered the restaurant by lining up as we missed the reservation time, but the turnover was fast. Despite the scorching heat, they kindly provided cold tea while we waited, and I was completely satisfied with everything.

I waited in front of the restaurant by 10:50 on the reservation day, and the staff took my order. As soon as the restaurant opened, I was seated, and my meal was served within 5 minutes. The photos show three limited edition tea rice dishes and sukiyaki. The rice was sweet and chewy, very delicious. However, I prefer firmer and lighter rice, so I ended up getting a second helping. There were various side dishes that looked delicious, but they seemed a bit pricey. It's hard to get a reservation for the first round of opening, but I think it's not too difficult for walk-ins after that.

I visit this place a few times a year on weekdays to enjoy freshly cooked rice. The food was delicious as always. However, I've noticed that the customer service is getting a bit sloppy over the years. They say the seating time for lunch is 30 minutes, but they inform you when there's only about 10 minutes left. They also start clearing up without checking if you're done eating. Considering the somewhat high prices for lunch, I believe they should improve their customer service.

The shop in Kyoto always has a long line, while the one in Ginza has a unique reservation system, but still requires a one-hour wait. The shop can accommodate 16 people, with 2 people in 8 groups rotating at 50-minute intervals. The food is definitely enjoyable, especially the tea rice, but maybe not worth waiting in line for.

Yahachimongebei had always wanted to visit Kyoto, but finally made a stop in Tokyo. The experience at Yahachimongebei was unique and unlike anything else. While many restaurants provide explanations of their dishes, Yahachimongebei goes further by sharing cultural backgrounds and stories. It's a place where you can enjoy both rice and culture. The atmosphere is perfect for dates, outings with colleagues, or hanging out with friends. The rice is incredibly delicious, and despite thinking I wouldn't be able to eat much, I left feeling completely satisfied. I highly recommend trying it out!

I visited the restaurant at 11:30 on a holiday, wrote my name, and was instructed to come back at 13:00. I returned at 13:00, but was only able to enter the restaurant around 13:15. The sea bream tea rice bowl and beef sukiyaki rice bowl were delicious, but considering the wait time and the price, I thought it was a mystery why this place is so popular. Don't be fooled by the line.

Thanks to the Citizen's Day, I was able to go to the city on a weekday. I arrived within 30 minutes of opening, but the earliest I could enter was 12:15. I ordered the Seasonal Grilled Fish Set with Silver Sushi Rice, and passed the time nearby before entering. It was definitely worth the wait. The crispy burnt aroma, the fatty white fish collar, and the savory salmon all made for a delightful meal. The side dishes were all delicious, and I even wanted seconds. At first, I was surprised by the price exceeding 1,500 yen, but considering the quality, it's definitely a bargain!

Visited around 11 am on a regular day. First, we wrote our names in the register and were given a time to come back. We were told to return around 12:00, so we waited for about 10 minutes before entering the restaurant. We ordered the sea bream rice bowl and a limited set meal. The food arrived quickly since we had already placed our order. We also ordered a raw egg on the side. The restaurant was bustling but the staff efficiently handled the orders. We sat down, and within 3 minutes, our food arrived! The crispy texture was delicious. We poured dark soy sauce over the raw egg and had it with the sea bream rice bowl. We ended up eating 2.5 bowls of rice, even though we usually don't eat much. It's best to go early in the morning to avoid waiting. Ahh, we're so full! It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a few years since my second visit here. My friend ordered a platter, while I had three kinds of ochazuke. The platter looked beautiful with plenty of items served on freshly cooked rice. The ochazuke included sea bream sashimi, tempura, flaked salmon, roasted seaweed, pickles, salted kelp, ochazuke rice crackers, Mitsuba, and dried rose petals. Of course, it came with broth! The sea bream was dipped in a sesame sauce for sea bream tea, and enjoyed with fluffy rice. I couldn't resist adding some extra toppings like Kujou green onions and spicy cod roe, as I really wanted to enjoy the delicious rice with various toppings. I had two servings, but I think the first one had better texture and taste. Thank you for the meal!

The specialty of this Japanese restaurant in Ginza is their focus on rice. The restaurant is surprisingly small. I ordered the Gibe's Kago Mori Gin-Shari Gozen for 2590 yen, limited to 20 servings. The served Gozen looked beautiful. It was enjoyable to try various side dishes. The rice was indeed delicious, cooked perfectly. I thought the flavor of the rice was unique, and it turns out it's a blend of rice. The side dishes complemented the rice well. Sashimi, simmered fish, dried small fish, salmon roe, and more. The tempura was freshly fried. I finished the rice quickly and got a refill, ending with ochazuke. I still think the rice is delicious. Since the rice is served with every menu, I thought the lunch menu around 1000 yen might be a better option.

I saw this restaurant featured on TV a few times and decided to check it out. I arrived 20 minutes before the 11 o'clock opening, but the first seating was already full, so I had to wait for the next seating at around 12 o'clock. I ordered the sukiyaki set and waited for an hour. When it was time to enter, I found that the rumors were true - the rice was incredibly delicious. The sukiyaki was also very tasty, and I left feeling completely satisfied.

Eighth Generation Gihei, Ginza 2 minutes away. Soboro miso katsu Ginshari set meal for 1860 yen. Kyoto-style ankake oyakodon Ginshari set meal for 1520 yen. Ikura soy sauce marinated for 800 yen. A Japanese restaurant in Ginza 5-chome where you can enjoy freshly cooked rice within 10 minutes and the rice is truly delicious. I remember waiting for hours at the original store in Kyoto when I first visited. The Ginza store is also very popular, so be prepared to wait in line, but around 1:30 pm on weekdays is a good time to aim for. The rice served after 10 minutes of cooking is their commitment, and it's a wonderful place where you can have as many refills of delicious rice as you want. The main dishes also complement the deliciousness of the rice, so rice lovers should definitely check it out. *Please note that they are closed on Wednesdays. #EighthGenerationGihei #rice #GinzaRiceRestaurantEighthGenerationGihei #GinzaJapaneseFood #TokyoLunch #GinzaLunch #GinzaDinner #GinzaGourmet #HibiyaLunch #HibiyaDinner #YurakuchoLunch #YurakuchoDinner #TokyoGourmet #foodstagram #TokyoGourmetTour #TokyoGourmetClub #TokyoLunch #WantToConnectWithPeopleWhoLoveEating #WantToConnectWithGourmetLovers #NogumaLunch #NogumaDinner #NogumaGourmet #NogumaGourmetGinza #NogumaGourmetHibiya #NogumaGourmetYurakucho #ginzalunch #ginza #foodstagram

The tai-chazuke set costs 1860 yen. The Thai sashimi comes in about 6 pieces. The side dish is just a bite. The content is quite sparse. The rice is freshly cooked in a clay pot, with a glossy texture, great taste, and perfect rice condition, making it extremely delicious. You can have unlimited rice refills, so I kept the first bowl as it is. For the second bowl, I had it with tai-chazuke. I wish they would add more sesame dressing.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm, and the staff's approach was just right, making it very comfortable and the service was excellent. The meals featured seasonal vegetables and the deliciousness of rice, with a wonderful lineup that allowed us to enjoy each dish, whether hot or cold. The rice dishes were satisfying, and the selection of drinks was also very good, making the dining experience enjoyable. Considering the quality of service and food, the price felt quite reasonable, and I strongly felt like I would definitely visit again.

I always gave up at the popular store with long lines. I was lucky to be able to get in at the right time for weekend lunch, or so I thought. I ordered the basket-style silver rice set meal. The sashimi and tempura were average... the shredded mountain pepper seemed like something you could buy at a local supermarket. And the portion was really small... even though it was soy sauce marinated, the grains were small so it was probably trout roe? There was probably not even a teaspoon's worth. The simmered fish was tough with bones, and I couldn't taste any of the fish's flavor. The hijiki seemed like the cheap kind that comes with bento boxes. The same goes for the fresh wheat gluten and pickles. It felt like the only things the chef actually prepared on the spot were the sashimi (cut) and tempura (fried), everything else seemed like pre-made side dishes. The silver rice was freshly cooked and tasted decently good. (But honestly, it wasn't remarkably delicious.) I wrote a bit critically, but I was a bit surprised because the reviews were very good. I'm sorry. The service was fine.

Second visit. Since it was a weekday, I arrived around 10 o'clock and got seated on the first rotation. The food itself was very delicious just like last time, but the service was very disappointing. The restaurant is not particularly cheap, so as a customer, I was looking forward to the "atmosphere of the restaurant" as well. I was even more disappointed because the first visit left a very good impression.

First of all, the presentation was terrible. There were fake flowers on top of the dishes, and they looked dirty. There were clumps of dried rice stuck together... It felt like a fake Japanese restaurant run by foreigners haha The food didn't taste as good as the price suggested, and even the rice wasn't anything special. It doesn't compare to the recent visit I had at the Zojirushi restaurant. TV really showed its power...

A famous restaurant in Ginza, Kyoto, recently collaborated with Seven and became a hot topic. I visited for lunch on a holiday, but had to wait for about an hour due to the reservation system. The interior of the restaurant was much smaller than I had expected. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the sukiyaki set meal. The sukiyaki was quite ordinary and not worth the price of over 2000 yen. The rice was delicious, but it was served too hot to hold the bowl. It's better when it cools down a bit to bring out the sweetness, as even shown in Oishinbo. In comparison, the collaboration onigiri with Seven was tastier. The miso soup was delicious in a Kyoto-style. I had high expectations, so I was disappointed. The service was excellent, but the main point, the food, was lacking.
