Hotel Continental Fuchu Restaurant Tohoku Bokujo @ Fuchu City, Tokyo @ The restaurant offers a delightful and delicious experience with free refills of blue egg over rice (TKG) and 7 side dishes. I visited for the first time in about 6 years since May 24, 2016. During this time, I have used takeout service a few times, but dining in was truly a long time coming. Located on the Koshu Kaido side of Hotel Continental, facing the bus turnaround of Keio Fuchu Station on the north side, the entire first floor has been renovated and reopened as Restaurant Tohoku Bokujo since May 1, 2016. The entire first floor space has been turned into a restaurant, with a vast space of 100 seats where you can see through to the main building on the back side. The last time I visited, it was labeled as a "natural restaurant," but now the restaurant name varies depending on the gourmet site, with Retty calling it "farm-direct restaurant," and Tabelog and Google Maps adding "buffet restaurant." The receipt simply states "Restaurant Tohoku Bokujo," so this is likely the official name, but the pamphlet has the title "Buffet Restaurant Tohoku Bokujo," which may cause confusion about the name. Perhaps this hotel and Tohoku Bokujo are affiliated companies. The north side has terrace seating, and the spacious interior has a buffet counter in the center, with tables lined up on both sides. As it is the main dining restaurant of the hotel, it changes its face to a breakfast buffet in the morning, a lunch set menu at noon, and a buffet and course restaurant in the evening. Weekend lunches are buffet style. The last time I visited, the lunch was 5 Japanese dishes, including sashimi, ginger pork, simmered fish, oyakodon, and fried chicken wings, but today I was impressed by the extensive lunch menu and had a hard time choosing. Drinks come with a drink bar. Rice and miso soup are free refills. The first tea served is cold mulberry leaf tea, with a beautiful and refreshing taste. Today's choices for 2 people were: ■ Simmered Fish Set Meal (Young Bamboo Shoots of Spanish Mackerel) 1,320 yen ■ Tohoku Bokujo's Egg Over Rice Set Meal 1,100 yen Soup, salad, and rice are all-you-can-eat with an order system. Drinks are also self-service at the drink bar. The salad is made with completely pesticide-free spinach, baby leaf, and radish mini salad, dressed with grated pickled radish, and the fresh vegetables from the in-house farm are delicious. The simmered fish is Spanish mackerel with young bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and shimeji mushrooms. The beautiful green broth is delightful. The egg over rice (TKG) is amazing! A very fulfilling meal that you wouldn't expect from the affordable price. The egg is a blue egg with a refreshing taste and free refills. The side dishes are fantastic, with 7 varieties such as kimchi natto, whitebait, fuki (butterbur), garlic, etc., packed on a round tray. It's like a Korean royal cuisine. Additionally, miso soup, chawanmushi, and 3 types of pickles are included. The rice comes with a rice box, so you can have plenty. It's also mentioned that if you can eat more, refills are free. The staff provides polite service befitting a hotel. I have a feeling that the frequency of my visits will increase. I considered taking out dinner as well, but most of the menu items are not suitable for keeping until the evening, so I gave up.
