I knew about this place but it was my first visit. I usually stop by Rapan before reaching here from Shinzaki station, but this time I decided to check out this place since Rapan had limited bread left. I was happy to see that they offer both bread and sweets here. I bought a curry bun and a tuna sandwich from Aoyagi Bakery, and a pound cake from Algerina's corner. The curry bun was filled with thick curry sauce and the bread was delicious. Toasting the tuna sandwich made it even better. The slightly spicy pound cake and the lemon pound cake were also delicious. The atmosphere of the shop was nice, and I will definitely visit again.

Aoiyagi Bakery & Angeline
1-4-20 Shinzaki-cho, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo
Opening hours: 9:00-19:00
Closed on Thursdays
After having a hamburger lunch in Shinzaki, I felt like having some sweets and searched around Shinzaki-cho. I came across the well-established bakery and confectionery shop "Aoiyagi Bakery & Angeline". Upon entering the store, I saw nostalgic Neapolitan bread and croissants. They have a wide variety of pastries. Since I was full from the bread, I decided to go for some Western sweets this time.
I bought the following items:
- Pound Marble Cake: ¥220
- Mohnkuchen: ¥260
- Custard Pudding (2 pieces): ¥210 each
The Pound Marble Cake was made using cocoa and almond powder. It brought back memories of my childhood, as the marble pattern used to captivate me. The combination of cocoa and almond powder in the plain cake, along with a hint of cinnamon, was delicious. I enjoyed it slowly with a cup of coffee.
I tried Mohnkuchen for the first time, which is a German pastry. It had a unique texture due to the poppy seeds and a mix of hazelnuts and macadamia nuts. The cinnamon added an Asian touch to it, and the nuts gave it a nice crunch. My friend and I shared it, savoring the flavors with coffee.
For dessert after dinner, we had the Custard Pudding. The surface was firm to the touch, but the inside was smooth with a mild sweetness. The caramel had a subtle bitterness to it, balancing out the flavors perfectly. It was a creamy and enjoyable Custard Pudding.
On the way back, I noticed a braided bread called Zopf at the bakery, which I had never seen before. It had a nice shine to it and the braided shape looked beautiful. I would like to try it next time.
In Shinzaki, if you're looking for bread, Japanese sweets, cakes, or pastries, "Aoiyagi Bakery & Angeline" is the place to go.

I purchased morning bread at "Aoyagi Bakery & Angeline" in Sasazaki. The bakery is located north of the Toei Subway station. I bought a Garlic Butter French bread for 190 yen and a Uguisu Anpan for 180 yen. I warmed up the Garlic Butter French bread in the microwave for 20 seconds, which made the dough soft. It had a mixture of garlic, basil, and butter spread on it, giving it an energizing flavor. The Uguisu Anpan had sweet bean paste filling. I liked the refreshing taste compared to red bean paste. The bread itself was dense and satisfying. Overall, both breads were delicious.

The combination of burdock and cream cheese seemed unusual but delicious, so I decided to try it. The burdock was cooked in a sweet and savory sauce. Inside the French bread dough, there was a generous amount of cream cheese and the sweet and savory flavor of burdock, which was very satisfying. Delicious. When I took a bite of the 1/4 size Pain au Vin Rouge, the aroma of white wine immediately stood out. Among the scents of grains, fruits, and cheese, I felt satisfied with just one piece as if I was eating more filling than bread. I have seen the freshly baked size before, and it was a powerful and delicate, artistic piece of bread. It seems like a bread that holds memories for the creator. It seems to contain rye, wheat, barley, whole wheat flour, white wine, fig, white sesame, raisin, walnut, sunflower seeds, blue cheese, green olive, and homemade sourdough starter. (Based on the photo) Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Since then, I have used it many times, and it is still delicious as always (^ ^) Especially the freshly baked "grape bread" is always sold out, or the last loaf is bought right in front of me (laughs). It was hard to get my hands on it, but after trying it, I was convinced!!! The freshly baked grape bread has a soft, moist, fluffy texture with plenty of raisins!! I can easily finish a loaf by myself in no time. It's so soft that I think it's better to ask the store to slice it for you (they will do it for you). Unfortunately, the next day it becomes just like any other grape bread, whether you eat it as is or toast it... But, could that mean there are no unnecessary additives in it?! I consider it a benefit. (Bread that stays fluffy for days without growing mold is scary.) By the way, I heard from a friend who lives nearby that it's often sold out if you go at 10:30, but when I visited around 10:30 on a Saturday, they had the most bread I've seen so far. Whether you can get it or not depends on the baking time of the day and the customers visiting, so personally, I feel like it's a matter of luck. Even if they don't have grape bread, their other bread is extremely delicious! So, I hope you won't be disappointed and buy other bread to take home. Today, I bought a loaf of grape bread, 3 different sandwiches, 5 assorted bread and pastry items, and even a bacon epi for a total of 2200 yen including tax. Each item is a sufficient size and delicious! I still think this bakery has the best cost performance.

I came to look for hot dog buns. Although they didn't have hot dog buns by themselves, they had plenty of hot dog buns used in sandwich buns. I bought a garlic bread and a French anpan. The French anpan is a crispy French bread filled with sweet red bean paste and plenty of white sesame seeds used in Japanese sweets. It has a satisfying texture and you can feel fulfilled with just one. When warmed up, you can enjoy a more fragrant taste. I made a hot dog with the garlic bread. The texture is soft and fluffy, but it wrapped around the large sausage and chili con carne firmly. Thank you for the meal.

When I entered the store, I saw kagami mochi and noshi mochi, making me feel like it was the end of the year. To my surprise, there were three types of stollen available. I bought stollen with sweet bean paste, chestnut, and sake flavor. The staff kindly informed me that you can sprinkle kinako on top, and the powdered sugar around the stollen can be used in milk or tea. We enjoyed it as a dessert for the new year. The powdered sugar tightly protected the stollen like a salted fish. It felt like a preserved food. The balance of Japanese and Western flavors spread nicely in the mouth, and you could feel the skills of the Japanese confectionery craftsman's sweet bean paste and the stollen created by his grandson. My family also said, "It's delicious," and we were satisfied. I really want to support craftsmen who think about food pairings when creating dishes. They have also started an online shop. Thank you for the meal.

This is a lovely bakery with a charming old-fashioned storefront and a wide variety of bread. While I was expecting traditional bread, I was pleasantly surprised to see new types of bread displayed alongside the classics. I purchased the Pain a la Biere Fruits Coco (half loaf) and the Croissant Tatin. The half loaf had a delightful aroma of alcohol even before eating, and the taste of grains and dried fruits was captivating. It was recommended to slice it to about 1cm thick before enjoying. It had a satisfying texture and would be perfect as a snack or paired with drinks. The Croissant Tatin featured tender apple compote that had been well-cooked, wrapped in a crispy croissant dough. The dough was fragrant and the pistachios added a crunchy texture. The apples were delicious as well. In addition to bread, the bakery also offers sandwiches, red rice, dango, and Western-style sweets. There were also many types of bread that caught my eye, making this bakery a must-visit spot. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I'm so addicted that this is my third visit in 10 days! There are so many different types of bread I want to try, and the prices are reasonable, making it easy to come back again and again. This time, I visited around 10:30 on a Sunday. The sandwiches were already selling out, but about half of the deli bread was on display. Since the hamburger bread I wanted wasn't available, I asked the owner, who was carrying a freshly baked white fish fry bread. He said he could make it right away, so I ordered it. As I was leaving, the owner kindly suggested that I ask if the product I wanted wasn't on display. The hamburger bread had soft buns filled with a soft hamburger patty, onions, lettuce, plenty of medium-thick sauce, and mayonnaise. The buns are really delicious! The hamburger patty was small and tender, maybe made with chicken? It was a homemade hamburger patty that you could still taste the meat in, and it was delicious.

There were so many options that I still wanted to try, so I visited again. I was surprised by how delicious the potato salad sandwich was! The bread was soft and the potato salad was incredibly tasty. The ham cutlet was also delicious, just like last time. The egg sandwich could have been a bit more moist for my taste. They even had pain au chocolat, which was good. The buttery aroma was missing, but the crispy outer layer and moist interior made up for it. The chocolate inside was rich and satisfying. The range of items at this shop is amazing! The staff were all cheerful and provided excellent customer service, which was a big plus!

I had been curious for a while and finally got to go (^^) The mother and daughter who welcomed me were very friendly. Although it's a small shop, they have a wide variety of sandwiches which made it fun!! There are so many different types of sandwiches, some even come in sets with different flavors. The egg sandwich and fruit sandwich combo is perfect for kids! I bought it for my 1-year-old son. The fruit sandwich had a thick and firm texture with plenty of sweet cream filling. The egg sandwich had a nice balance of mayonnaise and salt in the filling. The bread was fluffy. I think it was 220 yen for each? Cheaper than convenience stores, you can buy sandwich from a bakery which is great (^^) I also bought the nostalgic 3-meal bread. It's a fluffy sweet bread filled with custard cream, jam, and red bean paste. The custard was soft and rich, not too eggy which I liked. The red bean paste was smooth with just the right amount of moisture. The jam was like a firm jelly, bringing back old memories. And my favorite, the ham cutlet sandwich. The bread was fluffy with a thick cutlet! Unlike typical bakery cutlets, it wasn't greasy and was really delicious. I'm definitely going to buy this every time (^^) Surprisingly, they had 5-6 types of French bread which you don't often see in old-fashioned bakeries. I found a walnut and dried fruit bread for 220 yen! It was just the right size for one person, not too big. The chewy French bread was filled with just the right amount of orange dried fruits, raisins, and walnuts, which I loved and would buy again. They also had cookies, mitarashi dango, red bean rice, etc. Maybe because it was a weekday, there were no fancy cakes in the display, just pound cakes with chocolate coating. The variety reminded me of a small Shatoreze!! Good cost-performance, I would definitely love to visit this wonderful shop again and again.

I heard that this bakery was delicious. I also received some sweets as a gift, thank you very much. The Zanttorte was moist but not too heavy, and the Mohnkuchen had a great texture. The German pastries were carefully made and delicious!

Shinozaki is my first visit. I happened to discover this shop when I went to visit a colleague at work, and I bought a ham sandwich and a sparrow. It reminded me of the taste of the Showa era from long ago. In recent years, there are few shops that seriously provide deli sandwiches like this, so I was impressed! If the price was a little cheaper, I would give it 4 stars. There was nowhere to eat, so I ate standing outside the shop (laughs). It reminded me of my high school days~ Especially the sparrow (a sandwich with spaghetti Napolitan in it) is on par with top shops in the city! I wish I had bought more.

At first glance, it may appear old-fashioned, but the interior of the shop is extremely clean and has a nice aroma. There are various types of bread displayed, all of which have a delicious scent. The croissant was especially delicious.

A bakery loved by the local community, with a focus on savory bread rather than sweet pastries. It gets busy during lunchtime, so it's recommended to go a little early to buy lunch.

On a weekday afternoon in March, I decided to take the afternoon off for myself with my family's approval. I couldn't decide on which shop to visit, so I ended up taking the Toei Shinjuku Line to Shinozaki Station. There, I tried a tart at a shop known for having a famous pastry chef. Since I had come all the way to Shinozaki, I felt the desire to explore other shops as well. The next shop I visited was a patisserie that also served bakery items and Japanese sweets. It was a bit confusing as they had a variety of bread, cakes, and Japanese sweets. I noticed they had dorayaki, which is my research topic, as well as anpan, my secondary research topic. I usually only buy one item from a shop, so it was a first for me to be torn between two different types of products. In the end, I decided to purchase the dorayaki, which was priced at ¥120. It was a small dorayaki, weighing 70g, and seemed reasonably priced for its size. The dorayaki had a pancake-like outer layer with a slightly moist red bean paste filling. The red bean paste was on the drier side, giving it a traditional texture. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that this dorayaki lacked a distinctive or lively flavor. Perhaps I should have gone with the anpan instead?

This is a bakery and confectionery shop located in an old, quiet shopping street just a 10-minute walk from Shin-sakuragawa Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. They are currently making a large amount of mochi for the New Year. The shop has a window display on the right side where they sell cakes and traditional Japanese sweets, while the left side is dedicated to bread. The shop has a simple design and you can see inside the workshop. The bread was average - neither too soft nor too creamy. The apple pie, which was not wrapped, had crumbly crust. The cakes in the window display looked shiny. It seems like the shop focuses more on certain products depending on the day.

From the north exit of Toei Subway Shinzaki Station, head north on Ekimae Street, past the main street, to the Shinzaki Station Nicoco Shopping Street. This is a traditional bakery that has been operating in the area for some time. The sign reads "Aoyagi Angelina," which sounds like a half-talent name, but it combines the bread and Japanese sweets of "Aoyagi" with the cakes and Western sweets of "Angelina." The red awning is a landmark of this glass-fronted shop in a residential area. Inside, you can find a variety of bread, cakes, and Japanese sweets. They offer a wide range of bread in small quantities. They pride themselves on making their own fillings for sandwiches and sweet bread, such as the "Orange Egg" and "Potato Salad Napolitan" that I purchased. Both are double sandwiches with multiple fillings. The "Orange Egg" combines a tangerine and cream sandwich with an egg salad sandwich. It's a unique combination of main dish and dessert in one pack. The "Potato Salad Napolitan" coppe sandwich is interesting because the fillings change as you eat it. With a variety of Japanese and Western sweets, this shop offers creative bread ideas.

I visited the bakery around lunchtime on a national holiday. A skilled elderly baker came out from the back to handle the payment. I was looking for bread to eat for lunch with my 3-year-old child. They had a wide variety of bread, from sandwiches to filled buns, cream-filled croissants, traditional cornets, and authentic baguettes. Since it was the equinoctial week, they also had ohagi (sweet rice cakes) and cakes. The small shop was filled with so many options that it was hard to choose. My child loves anpan (red bean paste buns), so I got two for him. I chose a French cheese and bacon bread for myself, and also bought a slice of castella cake that was displayed next to the counter. We went to the riverside to have a picnic, and while my child was focused on the rice balls we brought, he didn't touch the anpan. However, he really enjoyed the fluffy castella cake, savoring every bite. The French cheese and bacon bread I chose had a chewy texture and was seasoned perfectly. It was delicious! I wonder who the skilled elderly baker is... If this bakery was closer, I would definitely become a regular customer. Next time, I want to try more of their baguette-style bread and their anpan donuts! *Note: My child couldn't resist tasting the anpan after dinner and ended up eating it all. I tried a little bit too, and the bread had a great flavor that paired well with the mildly sweet red bean paste.

There seems to be no parking lot. Around 11 am on a weekday. Once inside, it's mainly bread, but they also have cakes and red rice. They have a wide variety of bread, including sweet and savory options, as well as French bread. There are many triangular sandwiches and hot dogs. The prices are reasonable.
- Salt Bread: A roll bread with butter inside and rock salt on top. The appearance may not be impressive, but the bread itself is delicious.
- Potato Salad & Napolitan Half & Half Dog: I always feel like buying half and half dog series. When you hold it, it feels heavy. The filling is flavorful and the bread holds up well.
- Three-color Bread: A bread with red bean paste, jam, and cream. They are all rich in flavor. I prefer the red bean paste to be a bit more moist, but the simple custard cream and jam have nostalgic flavors. The bread itself has a good balance of moisture and texture, not overpowering the fillings. I especially recommend the hot dog series. They have a wide variety of options, and it's a place you would want near your workplace.
