Today I had the Echizen Oroshi Soba (200g) at Boryo-rou again (1500 yen). As always, the Echizen Oroshi Soba at Boryo-rou has a strong buckwheat flavor and is delicious.

I personally loved the perfect texture of the soba noodles, with a firm bite and a hint of flour. The amount of bonito flakes and green onions was just right, perfect for summer! The small shrimp rice bowl was also delicious, but towards the end it became a bit heavy, so it would be nice to have some garnishes or something like ochazuke.

Next to the antenna space in Fukui, this quiet shop stands quietly. Passing by, it looks like the Moyo Tower in Fukui. I had been wanting to visit this place, so I decided to have lunch there. I entered right after the opening at 11:00 on Sunday. I was able to sit without a reservation. My companion and I ordered the Fukui seasonal sashimi set. Today's sashimi included sazae, sea urchin, tuna toro, and three other types, all fresh and delicious. It was a luxurious sashimi from the Sea of Japan. The simmered squid and tofu, as well as the seaweed miso soup, had a gentle and delicious taste. I would like to come back again when I want to have delicious sashimi.

I visited around the opening time on a regular day and was able to get in smoothly. It was a bit crowded, but the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. I tried the sweet shrimp bowl for the first time. The shrimp was plump and full of flavor. The meat rice bowl was also delicious, with the meat's flavor and fat balance just right, making the rice go down easily. The soba noodles were refreshing with grated radish and good dashi broth, and the soba itself was tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I went on Saturday afternoon. There were many customers, but I was able to enter without waiting. I enjoyed watching the skilled movements of the chefs at the counter. The sweet shrimp bowl had plenty of shrimp on top, very satisfying. It also came with soba, which was nice. The sauce cutlet bowl also had a taste of Fukui, very delicious. It's a great place to enjoy a leisurely lunch in Aoyama!

I ordered a set of sweet shrimp tempura rice bowl and 100g of Echizen Oroshi soba. In the summer, nothing beats the refreshing Echizen Oroshi soba. This was my 10th visit and the taste was consistently delicious as always. The garden is beautiful and very soothing. This place is quite popular, so lunch reservations are necessary about 3 weeks in advance. There are 6 counter seats available for walk-ins, but they fill up quickly as soon as they open at 11AM.

* Sankuni Minato Ami Ebi Tenkomori Don and Echizen Oroshi Soba: 2,400 yen A restaurant in Fukui's long-established ryokan that utilizes local ingredients from Hokuriku! While the full course meal featuring Tag-Fukui crab is popular at night, for lunch you can enjoy dishes using Ami Ebi from Sankuni Minato and Wakasa beef! This time, we tried the visually impressive Ami Ebi Tenkomori Don and Echizen Oroshi Soba set! The Ami Ebi Don was truly overflowing with large, probably around 15, prawns! The rice had a nice vinegar flavor and the prawns were plump and delicious with just the right amount of stickiness. The sansho leaves added a nice accent! The portion of rice was quite generous and filling! The soba was Echizen soba with thick, colored noodles! The soba flavor spread nicely in the mouth! The noodles were firm with a good texture, and the generous amount of grated daikon, green onions, and bonito flakes were a nice touch! There are also other menu items such as sashimi set meals and grilled shabu-don, so the menu is varied! They also have a selection of a la carte dishes, making it a great place for a casual lunch or drinks! With private rooms, counter seating, and table seating available, this restaurant can accommodate various occasions!

I went to this restaurant located in the antenna shop of Fukui 291, as all the nearby cafes had long queues. I was seated in a private room even though I was dining alone. Today, they were out of soba noodles, so I had limited choices. I ordered the Fukui seasonal sashimi set for 3800 yen, which included flounder, horse mackerel, sea bream, golden eye snapper, lean tuna, medium fatty tuna, white squid, and sea urchin. The sashimi was beautifully arranged and all the fish were fresh and delicious. I ended up getting a second serving of rice because it was so good. The side dish of young shoots had a nice kick of sansho pepper, and the seaweed soup was elegantly flavored. Although the lunch was a bit pricey, the quality and quantity of the food made it worth it.

Fukui's inn, Aoyama's Moyo-ro. Everything you eat is delicious, with careful attention to detail even in the final dessert. On this day, we enjoyed the Fukumatsuri Box (tax included 5800 yen excluding drinks) in a private room. I have visited here several times, but I have only been for lunch so I am not qualified to talk about everything, but I was first captivated by the homemade plum wine. A rich plum wine that I had never tasted before comes out just a little. As I sipped on it, the Fukumatsuri Box was brought out, with small and beautiful food packed tightly in an octagonal box. Everything on every plate is delicious. In particular, I can't forget the firmness of the sweet shrimp. And on the menu, there is just one word, "sweetness," but when it came out, it was a splendid parfait with Mizuyokan. The service is also polite, and I think anyone can feel at ease dining here. If I had to say something, it would be that the restroom is the type that you enter directly from the hallway into the private room, so there is no space for women to touch up their makeup, etc. (There is a mirror space inside the private room) Also, there used to be a Fukui antenna shop next to the same building where we used to buy Fukui's local products to take home, but it seemed to have moved, which was a bit disappointing.

I visited in search of a tagged crab that I had been longing for. It's not the best season, so the price has gone down a bit. I ordered a whole crab for 70,000 yen. I was given the option to choose how to cook it: boiled, grilled, or sashimi. I chose boiled without hesitation. The boiling time was said to be 1 hour, but in reality, it was around 40-50 minutes. The shop cut off the legs to make it easier to eat. The size was not as big as I expected (around 700g), but the meat was packed and very satisfying. The taste was simply elegant!! Unlike any crab I've had before, it wasn't overly salty. It had a nice sweetness and strong umami flavor. Delicate taste. The crab miso was rich but not overwhelming. Crab sake made with this was amazing!! I also tried some other dishes, but they were just okay. The mackerel sushi was delicious. The price, casual atmosphere, and somewhat lacking service (I ordered a bottle of wine, but the glass was left empty for a while before being refilled) made the overall experience a bit underwhelming. But if you want to try a tagged crab, definitely give it a go!!

I have visited the famous inn in Fukui, Moyo-ro, a few times for their reasonably priced lunch. I appreciate being able to try a variety of dishes in small portions. A friend who stayed at Moyo-ro recommended it with confidence, so I definitely want to visit the original Fukui prefecture as well. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Echizen crab (the name varies depending on the port where it is landed) is known for its incredible brand power. Each crab is tagged with a different colored plastic tag depending on the port where it was landed, distinguishing it from other types of crabs. I had the opportunity to try it for the first time when I turned 65, with two male and two female crabs (Seiko crab). Since then, I had been contemplating whether to eat it properly once, without any guilt, either in Tokyo or in my hometown. Eventually, I decided to go to Tokyo and chose this restaurant. I made a reservation for the "Echizen Crab Full Course 70,000 yen" (which was quite difficult to secure) and visited on a weekday afternoon. The restaurant was located in a stylish commercial facility in Aoyama. The interior was simple, with an open kitchen, dining area, and private rooms in the back. We were seated in a private room. The course menu included dishes like crab miso with plum sake, fried crab, crab sashimi, grilled crab, hot boiled crab, spicy daikon radish, crab soba, crab tempura, seasonal fruit, and crab sweet. I was looking forward to trying the different cooking methods for Echizen crab. The course started with plum sake. Since I don't drink alcohol, they provided a non-alcoholic option for me. A beautifully presented Echizen crab was brought to our table, with the brand's distinctive yellow tag attached to its left claw. The meal continued with crab miso with plum sake, fried crab with caviar, crab sashimi with Echizen crab yolk soy sauce, and grilled crab with hot sake. Each dish showcased the delicate and refined taste of Echizen crab. The highlight was the crab sashimi with Echizen crab yolk soy sauce, which added a unique and subtle flavor to the crab. The crab was served on ice with grated ginger, enhancing the overall experience. The grilled crab, served with crab miso in the shell, was easy to eat and had a rich, flavorful taste. The meal ended with the main attraction - a whole crab, freshly boiled and expertly prepared in front of us. The staff dismantled the crab for us, making it easier to enjoy. The experience was truly exceptional, showcasing the exquisite taste and quality of Echizen crab.

At Omotesando, I found a restaurant where you can enjoy Fukui's specialty dishes. The interior is stylish with a Japanese touch, creating an elegant atmosphere. Since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. I like sitting at the counter because I can see the dishes being prepared right in front of me. When it comes to Fukui, crab is a must-try, but I ordered the Sweet Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl and 100g of Echizen Oroshi Soba (¥2400). The sweet shrimp was so plump and delicious! It was my first time eating so much sweet shrimp, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The soba was served cold with a firm texture and topped with grated daikon radish. It was as good as soba from a dedicated soba restaurant. It turned out to be a bit of a luxurious lunch, but I have no regrets as I was completely satisfied! ( ^ω^ )

Crab season eagerly awaited~(*‘∀‘)♪ In recent years, due to the pandemic, I have only been ordering crabs for consumption, but this winter I absolutely wanted to go out and eat them. I considered going to Kanazawa, Kyoto, or even all the way to Shimane, but ultimately decided to stay close and visit the restaurant "Fukui, Bouyouro Aoyama" run by the famous traditional inn "Bouyouro" in Mikuni Onsen. I made a reservation for the "Echizen Crab Boiled Crab Course (currently 50,000 yen including tax)" where each person can have a boiled crab. Thanks to the early reservation, I was able to enjoy it in a private room. The boiled crab I was looking forward to was beyond delicious! It was freshly boiled, soft, and sweet, truly exquisite. Although it may pale in comparison, the melt-in-your-mouth tuna sashimi, rich and creamy gratin, and the daikon radish soba that even people from Shinshu would be impressed by, all the dishes were of high quality and I was impressed from start to finish. I didn't take any photos, but I also enjoyed Taittinger champagne, as well as junmai and ginjo sake from Jozan Sake Brewery in Fukui. The selection of champagne and wine may be limited, but I believe they have a wonderful variety of sake. It was truly delicious! I would love to visit again towards the end of the crab season.

This is a branch restaurant of a long-established ryokan in Fukui. I love crab, so I come here in winter to enjoy it. I also come here occasionally for lunch as it is affordable. Today, I had lunch with my second son. I added the Seiko crab gratin to our order. We had sashimi set and Kannazuki set with cold sake. The dessert of warabimochi zenzai was also delicious. The taste is consistently good. Thank you for the feast.

I have repeated this many times. For lunch, I always go for soba and katsu-don. Sometimes I try different dishes, but I always come back to this because I love it so much. The salad is delicious, the soba is tasty, and the thin katsu-don is exquisite. For dessert, I enjoy warabi mochi, sweet red bean soup, and shiratama, among others, depending on the season. Everything is truly delicious.
