During the Gion Festival, every store is packed with people. The buses can't even move on Shijo Street. I got off at Shijo-Karasuma and had to pass through three hoko-cho to get home, where I unexpectedly ran into my wife and then my eldest daughter. What a coincidence! My eldest son was working part-time... Feeling sorry for him, the three of us went to a restaurant we had wanted to visit for a while. After a long introduction, we entered "Common Dining" on Matsubara Street, just off the main road. We ordered draft beer, Common Salad, succulent shrimp and squid XO stir-fry, Jamon Serrano and soft-boiled egg Bismarck, homemade pork belly chashu, young chicken and broccoli ajillo, and yuzu pepper and white miso carbonara (special Chinese noodles). The Italian and Chinese dishes were perfectly matched and delicious. The timing of serving the dishes was excellent, with attentive service and dishes that exceeded their price. I even had a refill of beer and spent less than 2000 yen per person. Thank you for the meal.

Daily lunch special for 1000 yen: Grilled young chicken and mushrooms with green onions. During a weekday lunchtime, I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to try their daily special. The place had a clean and calming atmosphere. I didn't have high expectations since it had a cafe-like vibe, but I was pleasantly surprised. The meal came with two small side dishes and a delicious miso soup, making me very satisfied. The only downside was that I didn't realize they offered free refills for rice and that there were condiments like eggs for egg rice near the cash register. It would have been even better if the price was a bit lower.

Four colleagues from work visited this restaurant for the first time. The interior was very clean and neat, with friendly staff. The entrance had a concrete wall like a dentist's office, but inside, there were wooden tables arranged in a spacious setting suitable for both lunch and dinner. On that day, they had a daily lunch special featuring original curry rice and A5 rank Omi beef steamed rice. I chose the limited edition Omi beef steamed rice as I was craving meat. It came with a salad and the sweetly seasoned meat on top of steamed rice with eggs was amazing. The side dish was a bit too strong in flavor for me, but it could have been due to my own condition at the time. They are closed on Sundays, but the prices remain the same on Saturdays and weekdays, offering a variety of exciting daily lunch specials. I was excited to try different options and found the prices to be very reasonable. I definitely want to come back again!

Visited "Common Dining" for lunch in January 2022 and decided to try their dinner menu this time. Currently, they are offering a special where the first glass of beer or highball is only 100 yen as part of their grand opening celebration, lasting until around the 20th of this month. They also have a variety of dishes that pair well with alcohol, such as salads, pizzas, and pastas in different sizes. I was intrigued by their various pasta dishes, including ones with Chinese noodles, so I decided to try that along with some garlic butter toast. The carbonara pasta with yuzu pepper and white miso was rich and flavorful, with the noodles being slightly chewy and satisfying. The garlic butter toast was crispy and generously topped with butter and garlic. The owner mentioned that they might start opening on Saturdays as well, so it's worth keeping an eye out for that. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

It's a restaurant where you can enjoy creative dishes incorporating Italian and Chinese influences. The 2nd floor serves as an office entrance, offering rental offices, virtual offices, and coworking spaces. The lunch menu includes four options, including the daily special, the Common Special Spicy Curry with Chicken Wings, Kyoto-style pork simmered in sweet sake, and limited to 10 servings of beef harami bowl. I ordered the curry, which was my choice from the start. Soon, a wooden tray arrived with curry, salad, and pickles. I finished the salad with sesame dressing first before moving on to the main dish. The chicken wings were so tender that they melted into the curry sauce. The European-style spiced curry was rich and flavorful, and both the rice and sauce had a good amount of volume. As I ate, the spiciness gradually built up, and before I knew it, I was sweating. During payment, they were running an opening campaign, and I tried the tablet raffle, winning a fourth prize. By the way, the proper name for the raffle machine is apparently the Arai-style rotating lottery machine. I'm curious about the other lunch menu options, so I'll definitely be back! During a business trip, I needed to attend an online meeting and found a place to work in Matsubara-Murocho. There was a restaurant on the first floor. I decided to have lunch there. There were several options for lunch, but I chose the daily special, which was pork sauté for 1000 yen. The presentation of the food looked amateurish, but it was delicious and came with plenty of vegetables. The soup was red miso. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was relaxed. I would like to use both the working space and the restaurant again in the future.
