"Smilemen-tei Komatsuya Honten" is a ramen shop specializing in abura soba located along the Kanpachi-dori in Nishikomatsuya, Ota-ku, Tokyo. I tried the large serving of abura soba and the weekday lunchtime special half rice (790 yen). The abura soba comes with menma, chashu, wakame, and nori, with thick curly noodles. The shop is a ramen shop specializing in abura soba, with another branch in Magome, Ota-ku. There are also branches in Hyogo and Tottori prefectures. The interior has only counter seats and operates on a ticket system. There are signatures on the wall from the band Sekai no Owari, who are apparently regulars at this shop. There is also something called the Sekaowa Map, which lists the shops the members frequented before their debut. If interested, ask the staff for more information. The menu offers various sizes of abura soba noodles with different prices, as well as toppings. During the weekday lunchtime special, there are free toppings available, with 11 choices. I opted for half rice. I was not sure what Chitan Tan Tan was, but it seems to be a dish where hot soup or hot water is added to the bowl with the remaining sauce and egg. Next time, I might try it. After placing my order, I noticed instructions on how to eat abura soba written near the counter. The shop's style seems to be adding vinegar and chili oil without hesitation from the beginning. The bottles of vinegar and chili oil provided are quite large, so you can pour as much as you like. Additionally, there are extra sauce, grated garlic, shichimi pepper, and pepper on the table. The thick curly noodles of the abura soba were mixed well with the vinegar and chili oil as instructed. I forgot to take a picture after mixing, but the flavor was not too strong, likely due to the vinegar, making it refreshing. The chili oil added a slight spiciness, and eating it with rice was enjoyable. I would like to try the Chitan Tan Tan next time. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.
