Oden - Ore no Dashi @ Ginza
I had always wanted to try Ore no Dashi Oden, and finally, I was able to visit without a reservation on a Saturday around 6:30 pm! Surprisingly, I could enter without a reservation. Perhaps it was due to the impact of the coronavirus. There were only about 2-3 groups of customers inside, so it was not crowded. I could choose between sitting at the counter or a table, and I must say, sitting at the counter in such places is the best! It truly lives up to the "Ore no" series of restaurants. The hospitality was perfect! The staff explained everything in detail, and then it was time to order.
First, I ordered a drink - Ore no Ale, an original craft beer they had. They also had rare Japanese sake available. I plan to order some later (laughs). Now, onto the main dish - Oden! Of course, I started with the classic daikon radish. I also ordered kumafu, egg, and tsukune. The daikon radish came with grated yam konbu. The daikon radish, soaked in the broth, was incredibly delicious! The broth was gentle, and the grated yam konbu did a great job. The other ingredients were equally tasty, and I was quite satisfied with just the oden alone (laughs).
I also ordered some izakaya-style dishes - beef tendon stew, dashimaki tamago, and Rikyu Hasshin! A perfect combination (laughs). The dashimaki tamago, in particular, had a fluffy texture with the flavor of the oden broth. It was incredibly delicious! They mentioned a seasonal dish - "Oden with matsutake mushrooms and conger eel," so I ordered that too! What a luxurious dish! I haven't had matsutake mushrooms for years... (laughs). Paired with high-quality conger eel in the oden... it's mouth-watering (laughs).
While waiting, I added Hamaguri clam to the oden. The broth, filled with both oden and clam flavors, was delicious! The large Hamaguri clam had a firm texture and great flavor. The broth was amazing!
Finally, the pot arrived! The aroma was irresistible! Perhaps due to a bit of soy sauce, the fragrance was even more prominent! Let's dig in! It was incredibly delicious... The oden broth, the flavor and aroma of the conger eel and matsutake mushrooms... it was perfect. The soft texture of the conger eel and the matsutake mushrooms... the seasoning was perfect. If this were turned into porridge... I ordered porridge as a finish. With an egg added and black seven spice... it's complete! It looks so delicious! And it tastes delicious! The broth is amazing... and the touch of black seven spice is exquisite! It's the best. I want to become a regular customer (laughs). I definitely want to come back for more. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!
