The oldest kebab shop still existing at the west exit of Ikebukuro. Kebabs were quite popular in Roppongi from an early stage. Along Gaien Higashidori, kebab shops popped up one after another and became known by nicknames like "red kebab" and "blue kebab" among drinkers. In Ikebukuro west exit, there were Turkish restaurants offering kebabs, but the stand-alone takeout doner kebab shops seemed to arrive much later. Nowadays, in Yomemachi Street (Azalea Street, Ranpo Street), the bakery Omer-san has turned into a Turkish restaurant and started offering kebabs at the storefront, and there is another shop across the street. Thinking about it, this shop has been around for a long time and it feels like the name changed at some point. Lately, I've been using kebab shops in various towns quite frequently. I've started to realize that it's cost-effective and enjoyable. You get the feeling of eating meat, it's healthy, and there's the excitement of a different culture. "Kebab sandwich" (500 yen) - a sandwich with shaved doner kebab meat and fresh vegetables stuffed in pita bread. I don't eat this kind of food frequently, so it's hard to compare, but the meat was closer to the center, so there was less smoky flavor, and it felt meaty. Also, there were three customers before me, so I imagine the meat didn't spend much time exposed to the air. I chose the spicy chili sauce, and as someone who doesn't like very spicy food, it felt quite spicy. "Kebab rice" (650 yen) - meat and fresh vegetables on rice. I chose garlic sauce. It was hearty. It's like a meat and vegetable rice bowl, but surprisingly, there was a lot of meat, and I felt it was on par with Yoshinoya's beef bowl special size at the same price. Both dishes gave a light and healthy impression. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I think there are foods that taste good because you eat them occasionally. There was a time when "umeshiso" became popular, and when I said it was delicious, I received a bag full of commercial-grade umeshiso from an acquaintance and ate it, but unfortunately, I got tired of it quickly. Umeshiso is a food that you think is delicious because you eat it occasionally, with its plum flavor and cartilage texture, and I realized that the real deliciousness is only in the plum flavor. I thought that foreign foods like kebabs might be the same, but surprisingly, I don't get tired of eating them day after day, or eating a lot at once. Kebabs are no longer a foreign food for me.
