I heard that there is a restaurant in Asagaya where you can make a Dal Bhat if you make a reservation in advance, so I made a reservation the day before and went there today. The name of the restaurant is "Kamarochikin," a Nepalese chicken dish specialty shop run by Nepalese people. It used to be a Nepalese restaurant called "Darusharu." It's about a 3-minute walk from Asagaya Station South Exit, located on a street lined with restaurants. According to the staff, the restaurant is inspired by Korean cuisine. When I made the reservation over the phone, I was asked whether I preferred chicken or mutton for the curry. Without much thought, I instinctively requested mutton. I regretted not choosing chicken, as the restaurant specializes in chicken dishes. When I mentioned that I called yesterday, the food came out without much of a wait. It appeared on a beautiful brass plate, which really elevated the experience. My Dal Bhat included dal (bean soup), curry (mutton), sag (spinach stir-fry), mixed achar (Nepalese-style pickles), tarkari (potato side dish), bhat (rice), and as a service, Golbera ko achar (tomato achar) and ghee (Nepalese butter) on a separate plate. Interestingly, before visiting here, I went to the dentist and had half of my mouth numb from anesthesia. I couldn't feel any heat or pain. I debated whether to reschedule my visit, but I decided to go because they probably had already prepared the food. The timing couldn't have been worse. Regarding the Dal Bhat, today I tried using ghee on the rice and dal, which I normally don't do. Although ghee is used in the dishes by default, I don't usually add extra. At Nangro Gal in Shin-Okubo, ghee is included in the Dal Bhat, but I didn't enjoy the oily taste that lingered on my tongue, so I stopped using it. The staff mentioned, "People who like it, drink it up," which surprised me. Really? Is that so? Because I didn't have a good experience at Nangro Gal, I had become averse to ghee. Trying ghee again after a long time, it wasn't oily, but rather mild, adding a rich flavor. This is good! The Dal Bhat costs 1200 yen. The staff member was talkative and kept chatting with me throughout. Despite not feeling well after the dentist visit, I mostly listened, but his enthusiasm was clearly conveyed. He has a strong desire to provide delicious Nepalese and chicken dishes. I will definitely come back next time to try the chicken curry Dal Bhat! Thank you for the meal.
