Recently, Chofu has been making various efforts. They have issued a "Chofu Cycle Map" introducing places around Chofu Station that can be visited by bicycle. The first edition featured cafes, movies, and autumn scenery, while the second edition focuses on bread, ramen, and Christmas festivities. The map is distributed at Trier Chofu, and you can explore the area on foot while referring to it. First stop was "BOULANGERIE TerreViante" in Tobitakyu. This bakery, with its main branch in Fuchu, opened a shop in Tobitakyu in September this year. Not knowing about this new bakery due to changing my commuting route around May, I adjusted my work schedule to visit right when they opened at 11 am. To my surprise, more than half of the shelves were empty. Apparently, many of the breads are transported from the main branch, and they hadn't arrived yet that day. I bought four breads this time. The first one that caught my eye was the "Cameleon", a melon bread shaped like a turtle. It had a slightly firm base with a sweet, crispy melon bread topping. It was less sweet than regular melon bread and quite interesting. The "Meatball Bread" was shaped like a meatball and filled with meat bun filling. Unfortunately, the filling didn't reach the fingers part. It had a Chinese-style flavor, more like a spring roll than a meat bun. The "Bolognese (Eggplant)" was delicious when warmed in the oven, with the Danish pastry becoming crispy. I prefer texture over flavor, so I really enjoyed it. Lastly, the baked curry donut was labeled as "medium spicy" but was spicier than expected, with a strong spiciness. Since it was baked, it wasn't greasy, which was nice. An interesting touch was receiving two fresh eggs as a gift at the checkout. These local touches make the experience more enjoyable. (From "Bread Tour with the Cycle Map")
