ウオッチメン
This place at the east exit of Ikebukuro. I used to come here often late at night, but it's been a while since I visited alone. There were no flags or posters promoting the chilled Chinese noodles outside the store. When I entered the store and asked the staff, they said they were serving it with a smile. I was seated on the second floor, and even though it was empty, as a solo diner, I was seated at a table for two. The solo female diners around me were all seated at tables for four. I'm too shy to ask to move. The voice of the drunk young man next to me was loud, but I couldn't bring myself to ask to move. The first dish I ordered was the perfect size gyoza (3 pieces), but the extra garlic I wanted was missing. The draft beer (Super Dry) had a bit of foam, which was disappointing. The second beer was fine. The chilled Chinese noodles I was looking forward to had an issue with the noodles. It took a while for them to arrive. The toppings included chashu, imitation crab, egg, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and seaweed, but there was no sesame. The noodles were underneath the toppings. That's where the first issue arose. Wait, why are the noodles white? They usually have a yellowish color. When I took a bite, I realized they tasted strange. They were powdery and had a weird texture. I tried a few more bites, but it was not good. I couldn't finish it. I hate leaving food, but I decided to leave this one and go home. As the waitress passed by, she asked if I wanted more sauce. I declined and explained that the noodles were powdery and I couldn't eat them. She then mentioned that the noodles needed to be remade. I agreed, and she took the plate away. I ordered another drink to pass the time. When the chilled Chinese noodles arrived for the second time, I immediately noticed that the noodles were different. They were the usual color. I mentioned this to the waitress, and after tasting it, I confirmed that it was delicious. The waitress later explained that they had mistakenly cooked the noodles for the chilled Chinese noodles for the same amount of time as regular ramen noodles. If it weren't for her noticing, I would have never ordered chilled Chinese noodles from this place again. I wish they had a button for customers to press if something seems wrong. Despite the mishap, the waitress was attentive and fixed the issue. The prices for sour drinks were 30 yen cheaper than the franchise store near Otsuka Station, which was surprising. I will visit again.
