Kanda Higuma Kitchen @ Former Chinese Hikari Location (Kanda Tsukasamachi 2-chome) The name of the restaurant is not based on the owner's body shape (opened on 11/8) In mid-November, Kanda Higuma Kitchen opened in the space formerly occupied by the beloved half-century-old Chinese Hikari, which closed in June. The interior of the restaurant remains the same, with the distinctive counter with an "R" still intact. At the opening, they offered only three types of spaghetti, showing their simplicity. I ordered the extra-large serving of Bulgogi pasta (300g), with the special large serving being 360g. The robust owner energetically stirred the pot, creating a lively sound throughout the restaurant. Finally, the dish was served - featuring a boiled egg, sautéed onions, peppers, paprika, beef, and a sweet Bulgogi sauce. It was a bit on the sweet side, but the owner kindly offered his personal crushed red pepper to adjust the spiciness. I suggested having either doubanjiang or gochujang on the table, and we had a brief chat. The name of the restaurant is not based on the owner's body shape, but rather inspired by the Ebisu yakiniku restaurant "Higuma." The meal was delicious! They plan to expand their menu in the future, so it will be exciting to see how the restaurant evolves!

This place serves traditional Neapolitan pizza with a huge portion size. The cost performance around here has always been the best in my opinion. You can get a satisfying meal at this price, which makes both your wallet and stomach happy. During weekday lunch hours, there are many young businessmen lining up, so it's better to go early.

The shop has a cute name and sign, but it has a casual vibe with mostly male customers. It was my first time there and the Napoli-style pasta was prominently featured on the menu. Customers could also add options like fried eggs or sausages as toppings. Many men ordered the dish with extra servings and toppings. The omurice seemed to be popular as well, with several customers ordering it. The Napoli-style pasta was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the service was quick.

I had lunch at an izakaya that took over the space of the old Chinese restaurant Hikari in Kanda Tsukijimachi. I tried their Napoli-style spaghetti (large serving 300g for 700 yen, free size upgrade up to 400g). It was a simple and delicious ketchup-based Napoli-style spaghetti with bacon and onions. It would have been perfect if it had green peppers in it. Next time, I'll add a fried egg for an extra 100 yen.

I visited before lunchtime on a regular day. I was curious about the "We have started serving omurice" sign, but I stuck to my plan and ordered the Napoli-style spaghetti for 700 yen with a free extra-large portion. This was my first time trying it, so I didn't add any toppings. It was served in about 4 minutes. The noodles were thin spaghetti, and the portion was smaller than I expected. I started by sprinkling cheese on top. The ketchup was mild and had a nice flavor. I usually prefer thicker noodles, but even with these thin noodles, it was delicious. Adding cheese made it even tastier. The main ingredients were bacon and onions, but the amount was not much. Even with the extra-large portion, it was light and I finished it easily. It felt a bit lacking as a standalone dish. It would have been nice if they offered lunch sets with soup or salad, depending on the price. I'll try the omurice next time.

Today's lunch was in Kanda♪ I walked towards the station wondering where to eat. I passed by Tempura restaurant Hachiteya and Hamburger restaurant Daichi, but then I saw a sign for Napolitan and stopped. Napolitan for 700 yen! Free upsizing! Alright, I'll go here today! It's my first time at Higuma Kitchen. I ordered Napolitan with extra noodles, topped with sausage and fried egg! It cost 950 yen in total. It didn't take long for the food to come out. The pasta seemed to be pre-boiled. The Napolitan had a lot of ketchup. I wish they had cooked it a bit longer to get rid of the excess moisture from the ketchup. The sausage topping was herb sausage with 3 pieces, and the fried egg was cooked to a semi-soft texture. The extra noodles weighed 300g. Overall, it was a decent Napolitan for the price.

Along the Ichihachi-dori street, a long-established local Chinese restaurant called "Hikari" closed down, and in its place, in November 2021, "Kanda Higuma Kitchen" opened. The green and orange awning remains the same as before, with red lanterns hanging down. The interior is mostly unchanged as well. There is a round counter at the back with four round chairs, two four-person tables, and two one-person tables. I stopped by casually alone around 8 p.m. on a weekday. The bald-headed master and a mini-skirted girl were running the place. There was also a lively girl among the customers. Maybe a friend of the female staff? I started with a draft beer (350 yen), served in a Sapporo Black Label medium-sized glass. The appetizer was a spicy cucumber and menma salad. I had chicken skin (100 yen), chicken heart (100 yen), and chicken liver (150 yen) skewers. The skewers coated in sauce were enjoyed with shichimi pepper and mustard. I switched to a highball (300 yen) for my next drink! Both the drinks and skewers were very reasonably priced. I discovered a menu board with nearly 20 types of sake! I ordered AKABU Junmai (600 yen), served in a wine glass. I enjoyed it with deep-fried tofu (300 yen). Overhearing the conversation of the lively girl next to me, "Is Tooyama no Kin-san the person on the right side of Mito Komon?" ... ( ̄m ̄〃)hehe! Cute... The unnecessary foot tapping of the female staff while waiting, made me go (,,• •,,)kya♡ You see, from an old man's perspective, seeing a girl as 100% cute is the same feeling as seeing a baby as 100% cute. (* ˘꒳˘)⁾⁾Hmm hmm The background music included songs by Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi, Masatoshi Nakamura, and Rats & Star... Listening to nostalgic songs playing along with the lively girl's conversation, I felt like I could stay here forever without getting tired. Isn't that right, old man?

I read an article in the morning paper about a recipe for Napolitan pasta and felt like having some. I was torn between going to a restaurant in Higuma or one in Izumi, but decided to try this one since it was my first visit. Despite the name "Higuma," they served pasta. The restaurant had a small counter and a few tables, with the master in the kitchen and a young woman managing the front of the house. The service was good. For lunch, they only offered three types of pasta. I ordered the Napolitan pasta for 700 yen. I was worried about the portion size for the free upsizing option, but if the jumbo portion of pancho was manageable, I should be fine! I went for the upsizing challenge. They sautéed each ingredient separately, so I had to wait a bit. Here it is! The upsized portion - will it be too much?! The thickness of the noodles was normal, and I could easily finish the generous portion. I worried for nothing. The dish had the classic ingredients of onions, green peppers, and a little bacon. The taste was quite ordinary. Eating with disposable chopsticks made my hands tired towards the end. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on the first day of the reopening of the large portion of Napolitan for 700 yen. Was able to sit down easily, but was told that only the Napolitan I least wanted to eat on the menu could be made. I don't dislike ketchup, but I'm not good with the lingering sweet taste. It's fine in moderation, but I've always avoided dishes like Napolitan. Since I didn't feel like looking for a different restaurant, I reluctantly ordered the large portion. It was served in about 10 minutes. I already regretted it just by looking at it, it seemed quite sweet. I tried a little bit and it was indeed sweet. I adjusted the taste by adding a lot of Tabasco and powdered cheese, and managed to finish it somehow. It would have been better if there were more direct spicy options like Marie Sharp's or Ichimi instead of Tabasco. I appreciate the service of adjusting to a large or special portion for free, so I will try again with a different menu.

Exploring Tokyo's gourmet scene! Chiyoda-ku, Kanda Tsukasamachi Edition. Speciality, Higuma's Napolitan! First visit to the popular new restaurant "Kanda Higuma Shokudo"! On a pleasant autumn day, feeling good, it's a perfect day to stroll around and have a change of pace, stretching your legs a bit for a lunch in Ogawamachi! I felt like trying some rare and strong-tasting B-class gourmet dish, so after some contemplation, I headed to the restaurant I had been checking out. Taking a side street from Ogawamachi station towards Kanda station, on the ground floor of a building with a brick-colored wall and a flashy tent in brick and green, a sign indicates the opening on November 8th! Still serving only three types of pasta, a Western-style restaurant like Higuma, with a friendly and well-built owner managing, the name is not based on the appearance of the owner, but it is related to the popular Ebisu Genghis Khan Yakiniku restaurant "Yakiniku Higuma". I was curious about the Pulgogi spaghetti I had been wanting to try, the speciality, Higuma's Napolitan! First visit to the popular new restaurant "Kanda Higuma Shokudo"! The menu offers only three choices: Higuma's Napolitan for ¥700, Nameko grated pasta, Pulgogi pasta for ¥800! Large serving @300g, special serving @400g, during lunch time, free! I hesitated, but ordered the Pulgogi pasta for ¥800, regular size! To accompany the beer, octopus sausage, and potato salad! Feeling thirsty, I quenched my thirst with a bottled beer, and waited for a while! The octopus sausage with mayonnaise and chili was nostalgically delicious! The potato salad with small chunks of potatoes was exceptionally tasty! After waiting for about 10 minutes, the pasta with a boiled egg on top appeared! With Pulgogi, beef, bell peppers, onions, and carrots inside! When I tasted it, the Pulgogi-like flavor was good, with a mild and gentle taste! I had imagined a rich and punchy taste, but it turned out to be subtly elegant and slightly bland, yet delicious! More gentle in flavor than the sweet and savory taste of Pulgogi! I was looking for a strong-tasting B-class gourmet dish, but got a gentle-tasting dish instead! Had a pleasant chat with the friendly owner! Received a complimentary chicken yakibuta! Next time, I want to try the Napolitan! Will definitely visit again! Delightful dish!

Hikari, a Chinese restaurant that had been in business for 50 years in Kanda after relocating from Nakameguro, closed down in June due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the aging of the owner. It's sad to see a restaurant that had made history in Kanda disappear. However, a new restaurant called Higuma Kitchen has opened in the same location. They offer three pasta dishes on their menu: Napolitan for 700 yen, Nameko Oroshi Pasta for 700 yen, and Bulgogi Pasta for 800 yen. I ordered the Napolitan in a special size, which turned out to be a cute portion of about 400g. The flavor was just right, not too strong or too weak, and it had a nostalgic taste. The dish was filled with bacon, onions, and green peppers. The owner kindly offered to pack the leftovers for me, thinking I might not be able to finish it all. When I mentioned that I could eat it all, they were surprised. They even said that next time, I could order a special size with an additional 100g for the same price. I enjoyed the meal and look forward to trying other dishes on their menu in the future. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience at Higuma Kitchen in Kanda.

Anyway, the Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) for 500 yen had a good amount of meat and vegetables, making it a good deal. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) took quite a long time to be served and unfortunately were not piping hot. Well, it's not a specialty restaurant so it's understandable.

The female staff who served us was friendly and nice. The restaurant is cozy and not too noisy, which is good. The food is generally delicious. It would be better if the all-you-can-drink time was a bit longer.
