This shop is located in Kyodo, a fiercely competitive area for ethnic cuisine, and offers halal-certified Islamic bento boxes. The staff seem to handle things with a lot of hassle, which adds to the experience. I bought a lunch set called B Box for takeout. It included biryani, curry, paratha, and vegetable side dishes for 900 yen. The chicken curry had a very mild flavor for ethnic cuisine, and it paired perfectly with the biryani and paratha. The paratha had a chewy texture when cooked, which I personally enjoyed.

In a corner of a shop that sells authentic spices and ingredients from India, there is a small 4-seat counter for eating in. The seating is right next to shelves lined with products, making it a bit cramped when people walk by. The atmosphere is more geared towards takeout and product sales rather than leisurely dining. The staff are all foreigners and don't seem to be very proficient in Japanese.
I ordered the Bismillah rice set. The curry is a dry type, and you can choose between mutton or chicken. The mutton meatballs were dry and the papadum lacked texture. The curry was too spicy for me to finish. It's definitely authentic with a lot of spices. The most disappointing part was the rice (pilaf), as the menu describes it as "fried rice with vegetables and nuts," but there were no nuts at all, making it look like a completely different dish. I prefer the fluffy texture of basmati rice, so I wish they would improve the ingredients. The set comes with chai tea after the meal.

【Restaurant Name】Spice Wala Kyodo Branch【Price】500 yen【Visit Time】Visited around 8:00 PM on a weekday【Wait Time】Visited without waiting, but it is recommended to save this review for reference before going to the store【Menu Received】Kebab Sandwich 500 yenImpression:Located in Kyodo, this place offers delicious and generously portioned kebabs. I had been passing by the store for some reason, and they often post about their affordable kebabs on their stories. Finally, I was able to visit! The fact that the kebabs are only 500 yen is truly delightful. The interior of the store is filled with various condiments from the local (which local?!) cuisine, which really gets you excited! I can see myself becoming a regular here!

On the way back from Hatsumode, I felt a bit hungry so I decided to stroll through the Nodai-dori shopping street in Kyodo. Most of the food and beverage shops were still closed, but I found a food store run by Indian people located at the corner along the street. I bought a chicken cutlet for takeout. It was just right for eating on the go, and the spices were delicious! It was a bit disappointing that it wasn't warm. We really liked it, so we went back later and this time we ordered a kebab box and curry set at the eat-in corner, along with another chicken cutlet. We waited for our order at the counter, where only about four people could sit, observing the staff speaking in foreign languages. Setting aside the packaging, we tried the food and it was absolutely delicious. The kebab was sweet and tasty, especially when combined with cabbage. The dry curry in the set was satisfying, and the reheated chicken cutlet was hearty. We couldn't finish all the chicken cutlet we ordered, but they kindly packed it for us. The staff was very friendly. It was a great meal to start the new year.

Southeast Asian cuisine and condiments shop that also offers bento boxes, kebabs, and light side dishes.
Chicken Tikka (tax included 250 yen) - Skewered chicken tikka. It's quite substantial and heavy. Moderately spicy. Good amount of flavor and satisfying to eat, but it would have been even better if the grilled flavor was more pronounced. The meat was tender.

Kyodo-Agri Street in Kyodo. I noticed this store while taking a walk on a holiday. I didn't know that you could eat in the store, my main purpose was to search for spices. They seem to have all the standard items. They even have Basmati rice properly displayed, so you don't have to go all the way to Ueno for it. I bought chili powder and garlic powder, both for 200 yen each. I also got Palak Paneer. It's a retort pouch so I'm not expecting much.

Located in Kyodo, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. This is a restaurant that offers dine-in and take-out options for biryani, kebabs, and dry curry, as well as halal food for sale. It opened in November 2021. The nearest station is Kyodo Station on the Odakyu Line, located in the Minami Exit, Nodai-dori Shotengai. It's great that you can enjoy authentic biryani quickly here. I had been keeping an eye on this place since it opened. Kyodo Shotengai, one of the best along the Odakyu Line, has many interesting dining options, so I finally visited after over half a year since its opening. Around 11 am on a weekday, there were no customers dining in before or after me. There was one customer purchasing ingredients and one for take-out. The two local Indian staff members were not very friendly. It's safe to say they are Indian, as Nepalese Indian restaurants are usually more hospitable. Don't expect much in terms of customer service. The dine-in area has about 5 seats. It's more of a place to quickly enjoy your meal rather than a place to relax and eat slowly. After placing my order verbally, I paid. Today's order: Chicken Biryani Set for 1,100 yen. For the drink, I asked for cold Masala Chai. The rugged-looking Indian staff served it in a cute Sanrio cup, which was delightfully mismatched. The biryani had large chunks of chicken, topped with spiced scrambled eggs, and something like prunes. There was also plain yogurt with carrots and cucumbers, as well as spiced green beans and carrots. The dessert of the day was a sweet and spiced vermicelli-like dish, a common Middle Eastern or Indian treat. The biryani had a good amount of spices, and I enjoyed it with the yogurt. It was not mind-blowing, but it was decent. Since Kyodo has several authentic Indian restaurants, this place is a good option for a quick dine-in or take-out meal. As I had expected, the friendly staff who used to be welcoming have disappeared, and the customer service has turned into a cold and indifferent style similar to India. It's a shame. While it may be acceptable in the Islamic district of Shin-Okubo, it's not suitable for here in Setagaya. I believe they should consider improving their customer service.

I visited for the first time at lunch. It's a halal food ingredient store with mainly takeout, so the dining space inside is small with just a small counter. There were only two of us eating inside, but takeout customers were coming in one after another. It's a busy street-front store, so there must be a lot of customers. On this day, I ordered the Biryani rice set. I could choose a drink, so I chose mango shake. I chose the chicken for the Biryani, but when I started eating, I thought that the Biryani was somewhat dry, and the rice was quite firm, and the Mutton Tikka (mutton mince, beans, and vegetables) was also dry, making the whole plate a bit dry and a bit hard to eat. The flavors weren't bad, but the combination felt off. I was considering getting Paratha, but I think it would have been even tougher, so I'm glad I went with rice. Also, I realized after finishing my meal that there was no papadum included. Additionally, the dessert seemed like a store-bought one, kind of thin. I had high expectations, so I was a bit disappointed with the outcome. I also purchased some ingredients, but surprisingly, they only accepted cash for payment... It's a bit tough when a food store accepts only cash...

I went there for the biryani. It's a rare authentic Indian cuisine in this area. However, the taste is just okay. I've had a lot of biryani in the Islamic district of Shin-Okubo and also tried it in its home country during my overseas trips, so maybe my taste buds have become more discerning. It's a good place for beginners as the atmosphere is not intimidating. The staff provides good service, catering to Setagaya's standards. However, Indian restaurants tend to show their true colors with their customer service, so it's hard to tell.

I used to go to Islam Yokocho in Shin-Okubo for spice shopping, but ever since the station opened in Shimokitazawa, it has been quite satisfying. The new place in Kyodo has a wide variety of spices, as well as retort pouches and frozen meat. The options have increased. They don't have the spices that are individually packaged on the spot like in Shin-Okubo, and it seems like you won't find fresh curry leaves either, but just looking around gives a sense of fulfillment (lol). Today, I had the biryani set for 1,100 yen in the eat-in space inside the store. It tasted like a local eatery. The chai was a bit weak, but the sweetness was just right and quite good (forgot to take a picture). There were three staff members who seemed to be Indian, one of them was wearing a chin mask...very relaxed. It might be a good place for people who want to enjoy the atmosphere rather than the taste. Thank you for the meal!

A spice and food ingredient store has opened in Kyodo. They offer a variety of spices, including Basmati rice, and even frozen meats like lamb and duck that are not typically found in supermarkets. You can also enjoy meals like curry, kebabs, and biryani in the store, and they offer takeout as well. Today, I decided to have lunch here and ordered the Mutton Biryani set for 1,100 yen, which came with side dishes, raita, dessert, and a drink. The Basmati rice was fragrant and the chunks of mutton were delicious. The portion size was decent, and I mixed it with the raita as I ate it all up. I also enjoyed an iced chai to finish off the meal. It was satisfying to have authentic biryani after a long time. I look forward to visiting again to try the dry curry with chapati or paratha. I also plan to purchase some spices for home use. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Opened on November 5th, this new store offers a variety of spices and halal ingredients for retail, as well as takeout bento boxes. There are also counter seats available for dining in. The store is filled with the aroma of imported spices, offering a wide range of products not typically found in regular grocery stores, such as Indian rice and frozen samosas. The area of Kyodo is known for its many famous curry restaurants, and this new store seems to be run by Indians, as they speak fluent Japanese. The prices are reasonable, and I was pleased with my lunch of paratha, kebab, and coconut curry. The paratha, similar to a crepe, had a unique flavor that paired well with the curry and kebab. The dishes were not overly spicy, making them easy to enjoy. Whether buying spices to make your own curry or picking up a ready-made biryani for lunch, this reliable store is a great addition to the neighborhood.

I love this restaurant. The biryani and curry are both full of spices and amazing. You can also buy just the kebab meat to take out and have it as one of your side dishes. I recommend getting the special box where you can enjoy biryani, kebab, and curry. Eating everything in the box will make you full and might be too spicy, so I usually save the curry for later. Just a heads up, everything is pretty spicy, so be cautious if you don't like spicy food.

Our family's current favorite at home is the kebab sandwich from a Indian restaurant in Kyodo. When we first got takeout, we didn't plan on taking photos or writing reviews, but it was just so delicious. It's hearty, with a good amount of meat, refreshing cabbage, perfectly paired with chili tomato sauce, and the texture of the pita bread is just right. And all this for only 500 yen. On the first day, our family of three got two mild flavor sandwiches. The second time, we got one mild and one medium. Even the medium had a kick that made our mouths tingle a bit. It's just the right amount of spiciness that makes you want more. Our family all agrees that we'd rather have a kebab sandwich than a hamburger.

As I was walking through the agricultural university shopping street, I noticed a long line. It turns out it was "Kebab Day" on May 25th. I'm not sure why that's the case, but if I can get a good deal, I'll wait in line too. They were offering Kebab sandwiches for 300 yen (usually 500 yen) and Beef Keema Samosas for 300 yen. The bag they handed me was heavy, feeling like 1.5 times the usual amount of Kebab. I tried them for a late-night snack and even though I was a bit tipsy, they were filled to the brim with roast chicken and spicy flavors, tasting amazing. I planned to save half for tomorrow, but ended up eating it all in one go. The Samosas were also packed with Keema curry and potatoes, leaving me feeling very full. I will definitely be back for more next year on May 25th!

Visited in February 2023. It is now 3.24 points. There are 17 reviews. I took a stroll in Kyodo after a long time. As I walked towards Nodai, I came across an ethnic grocery store. I thought it was Indian-Islamic, but inside they had a variety of items, including Chinese ingredients. It's quite cheap for this type of store. They also sell biryani, but I bought chicken curry and samosas that were being sold outside. Both have a very homely taste. They are definitely very authentic. It feels like something you would find in a local market.

A unique foreign shop appeared in the Kyodo shopping street. It is a food store with a variety of spices lined up. You can also dine inside the store. I ordered a special box for takeout for 1080 yen. I didn't have to wait long and quickly returned home, but I was happy that the food was still warm. The rice is delicious on its own with the spices, but it tastes even better when paired with the curry. The curry is quite spicy with a deep flavor. It will be irresistible for those who love spicy food. The chicken is also spicy, but with a hint of sweetness that adds an accent. Enjoy them separately at first, then mix them together later. This changing taste is truly satisfying. It was a very fulfilling lunch.
