I've been skipping reviews for a while, but this time I visited a restaurant operated by Mikasa Kaikan at Tamagawa Takashimaya for tea time. I used a great deal with a reservation through the GoTo system. Here is the content:
Payment is cash only.
◆【THE GALLEY's TEATIME】(14:00-17:00 only)
Waffles, fruits, tea sweets, and a drink bar for 1,320 yen (tax included)
■Food
- Freshly baked waffles (2 types)
- Assorted fruits (4 types)
- Soft serve ice cream
- Tea sweets
■Drinks
- Coffee, tea, and over 10 soft drinks at the drink bar
The spacious interior of the restaurant is divided between tea time buffet users and other customers. Next to me were solo diners, with partitions for safety measures. The male staff members, all from Mikasa Kaikan, provided polite and pleasant service. They explained the tablet ordering system first. You can order additional waffles as much as you like. They bring a plate of 4 types of fruits to your table. Other items like glass desserts, soft serve ice cream, and drinks are self-service. The waffles come in 2 varieties with maple syrup and chocolate sauce. The glass desserts include 4 types, and the muscat and almond tofu that came later was the most delicious. There is also cranberry sherbet and soft serve ice cream, which you can serve yourself. I managed to swirl the soft serve ice cream on my own quite well, which was fun, and I did it twice. I want to do it again! I recommend putting the soft serve on top of the waffle or mixing it with the coffee jelly. The chocolate and soft serve in the photo did not go well together at all. The fresh herb tea, which had a note of +300 yen, was provided in a pot for free. You can blend your favorite herbs like lemongrass, lemon balm, mint, edible flowers, and bay leaf. I chose to have only the herb tea. The other drinks were similar to what you find at family restaurants, so I didn't feel the need to have them here. Honestly, the taste and quality were not that great overall, with a mix of good and bad points. The frozen lychee was watery and mushy, making me wonder how it was thawed. It seems that improving the quality of each item rather than having a wide selection would leave a better impression, especially since the clientele in this area are discerning. For example, reducing the number of fruits and drinks to improve their quality. Skip the toppings for the ice cream. Make the waffles fluffier. However, the service was good, and it's a plus that you can make a reservation for one person in a restaurant where most places require a reservation for two or more. I earned points with the GoTo system, so overall, I am satisfied.
