If you want to enjoy a high-quality Japanese lunch with both delicious food and a great atmosphere near Ginza Taimyo Elementary School, this is the place to go! I had always been curious about this traditional Japanese restaurant that I passed by frequently. Although I thought it might be too upscale for me, I finally decided to visit today. The restaurant, "Mutou," has no background music, and you can see the kitchen from the counter, giving a live cooking experience with the sounds of preparation. I ordered the "Sea Bream Set Meal (1700 yen)" which included: - Miso Soup: A flavorful miso soup made with red miso, seaweed, and wheat gluten. - White Rice: The rice was exceptionally delicious, with a distinct shape and a great texture. You can also ask for a refill. - Side Dishes: Cold konjac and chilled egg tofu were served as side dishes. Both had a gentle flavor and were very elegant. - Sea Bream: The set included six thick slices of sea bream, three served as sashimi and three for ochazuke (rice with tea poured over). The sashimi was thick and tender, while the ochazuke had a light sear, both enjoyable with the soy sauce dip. - Mizuyokan (Water Yokan): A delightful water yokan with a soft and smooth texture, topped with a refined sweet red bean paste and a hint of yuzu flavor, giving a refreshing touch. I was highly satisfied with the meal and plan to try the sashimi set with additional tempura and black soybean natto for the side dishes next time. It was delicious!! Thank you for the meal!!

Lunch is great in terms of sashimi and other dishes quality, the attitude of the restaurant, and the cost performance. It gets really crowded right after opening, but I definitely want to go again. The spacious and luxurious second-floor seating area with tables and chairs is wonderful. Visited with a friend on a Saturday afternoon during a long weekend. We arrived at 11:08 because we heard it gets busy, but there were already about 6 people in line. By 11:30, there were over 30 people waiting in line. They seat you at a 4-person table without sharing, so it's best to arrive a bit early to get in for the first round or maybe consider coming after 13:30. We ordered by showing us the menu upon entering (sashimi set, sea bream tea set, and daily special set, with options for sashimi platter, tempura, and natto as individual items. The drink menu was not brought unless requested). I was lucky that we were guided to the second-floor table just at the right time, and we were seated in a spacious room with two 4-person tables without sharing, which felt very luxurious. We had to take off our shoes to go upstairs. I had the sashimi set for 1700 yen, my friend had the sea bream tea set for 1700 yen, a small bottle of beer for 750 yen, and we also ordered the recommended black soybean natto (350 yen) to share. There was a notice that there was a reservation for 13:00, but since we arrived at around 11:30, it was not a problem. However, after we were seated, another staff member informed us that there was a reservation at 12:30, which was a bit amusing. The food arrived in about 20 minutes. There was no explanation of the sashimi dishes, but there was an explanation of how to eat the sea bream tea. They also mentioned that there was all-you-can-eat rice available. The sashimi included salmon, squid, sea bream, swordfish, bonito, and the side dishes were potato salad, sweet tofu, pickles, kinako pudding, and miso soup. Everything was delicious, and we didn't need to ask for more rice. Some people ordered tempura as well, so they might have asked for more rice. The staff checked on us regularly even on the second floor, so it was reassuring. The sea bream tea was served with delicious green tea instead of broth, and the sesame sauce was tasty. The natto came with soy sauce on the side, which was nice. It was a great experience, and I definitely want to go back. Thank you for the meal!

On a day off, after watching a movie at Ginza, I visited a renowned shop for "tai chazuke" that was featured in "Matsu Shira" before. In Ginza, where high-end restaurants may be out of reach for commoners at night, you can enjoy affordable lunches. The place is right in front of my favorite spot "Hashigo Honten." The tai chazuke was so delicious that I was left speechless. Even though I occasionally make tai chazuke or magu chazuke at home, it doesn't compare to the high-end kaiseki restaurants. My housemate was also very satisfied, and we are planning to visit another shop featured in "Matsu Shira" next time. Alright then, noted. Muto 03-3571-0723, Tokyo, Chuo-ku, Ginza 6-4-16.

How about trying the refreshing Tai Chazen on a hot day! Tai Chazen for 2000 yen and Kuro Chigoku Mame Natto for 400 yen. The Tai is plentiful and the sauce has a gentle flavor. While I also like the strong sesame sauce at "Asami," I also enjoy this soy sauce-based sauce. Even when pouring tea at the end, the Tai retains just enough heat to turn slightly white.

Let's have lunch in Ginza and try the trendy Tai Chazuke restaurant that has been getting good reviews recently. We chose this place and lined up a bit before opening, but we were seated after the first round. We ordered the Tai Chazuke set meal. Unlike the usual sesame sauce, this restaurant's version is soy sauce flavored. It has a slightly salty taste, but with plenty of sesame and seaweed, and the tai (sea bream) was delicious. It was a satisfying meal.

I visited the restaurant around 12:10 on a weekday and ordered the "Tai Chazen" set meal for 1700 yen. The restaurant had a counter with 6 seats on the first floor and two 4-person tables. There were 5 customers already seated on the first floor. The lunch menu offered three options: "Tai Chazen," sashimi set, and daily special set. I ordered the "Tai Chazen" set. It was served in about 10 minutes and included tai sashimi, rice, miso soup, egg tofu, simmered hijiki seaweed, water agar jelly, and pickles. The tai sashimi was marinated in sauce with plenty of sesame and seaweed on top. It was delicious, especially when eaten with rice and seaweed. The seasoning of the sauce was excellent and complemented the fresh and firm texture of the tai. It was also enjoyable to make ochazuke with the sashimi, as it slightly changed the flavor and texture. The rice was tasty, but I wished there was a bit more of it compared to the sashimi. The water agar jelly was smooth and mildly sweet, which I found delicious.

This is a small restaurant that serves carefully prepared Japanese dishes in a cozy setting at very reasonable prices. The rice is especially delicious, and the staff takes great care in handling all the ingredients. The fish and meat dishes are seasoned perfectly, and the daikon radish is cooked to the ideal firmness. The balance of flavors in the dishes is excellent, and the miso soup is so good you'll want multiple refills. Even the desserts are made with the same level of care, with a hint of yuzu in the red bean dessert. The lunch menu changes daily, making it a place you'll want to visit every day. Despite the increasing number of tourists in the area, this restaurant manages to maintain its peaceful and authentic atmosphere.

Recently, this popular Ginza restaurant, which is also featured in the VTR played on Tokyo Metro trains, was surprisingly not crowded today. I couldn't decide between tai chazuke and sashimi, but ended up ordering the sashimi set. The skilled chef and his female assistant beautifully arranged the dish. The staff in the back kitchen worked seamlessly with them, serving one dish after another. The sashimi included red shrimp, sand lance, bigfin reef squid, bonito tataki, and flathead fish. The presentation was well done, and the miso soup was delicious. Although I felt that 1700 yen was a bit expensive for the meal, I still ended up getting a second helping of rice. Thank you for the meal.

■Restaurant Information Today, I visited Ginza. As expected, Ginza is filled with delicious food. But sometimes it can be hard to find a good place to eat. For those who are looking for recommendations, I recommend "Nihon Ryori Mutou." This place offers delicious and reasonably priced dishes for lunch. While their popular dish is Tai Chazuke, I personally prefer the sesame sauce, so this time I ordered the Sashimi Zen set! ■Food Ordered - Sashimi Zen: ¥1700 - Tempura: ¥350 - Black Chishio Natto: ¥350 The food arrived in about 15 minutes. A splendid lunch indeed. The sashimi included bonito, sandfish, squid, sea bream, and shrimp. It was a bit disappointing that there was no tuna, but all the sashimi was fresh and well-prepared, making it easy to eat. The tempura was more moist than crispy, with seasonal vegetables included, making it a great deal for ¥350. Surprisingly, the natto was impressive. Each bean had a unique firmness and umami flavor. I highly recommend trying the natto here. The rice, miso soup, and side dishes were all delicious and satisfying. Overall, I highly recommend this Ginza lunch spot. I was invited to a business lunch meeting at Ginza's Japanese restaurant, Muto, for the first time. There were a few people waiting outside the restaurant, but we were smoothly guided in as the organizer had made a reservation. We took off our shoes before climbing the stairs to the second floor, where we were led to a private room for 10 people. The room was well-cleaned and had a calm atmosphere without feeling old. The lunch course seemed to be the "Keyaki" course. Since everyone was chatting, there was no explanation of the dishes as they were served, so I didn't know what I was eating, but each dish was very delicious. I heard that the "sea bream ochazuke" is famous, and it was served towards the end of the course. I tried it as it was first, and it had no fishy smell, so it was fine to eat it as it was, but I decided to add the tea and eat it as ochazuke. The location, atmosphere, and taste were all excellent, and I would recommend this restaurant to others, but since I didn't know what I was eating (my fault for not asking), I gave it four stars this time. If I have the chance, I would like to try the evening course as well.

I suddenly felt like eating sea bream tea pickles, so I went to the restaurant with a friend during lunchtime on a weekday. The staff adjusted the seating arrangement skillfully, and we were able to enter without much waiting. The broth was flavorful and had a lovely taste that warmed the body. They only accepted cash for lunch payments.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. I was seated on the second floor without having to wait in line. I ordered the sea bream set meal (1,700 yen) and added tempura (350 yen). The sesame flavor of the sea bream tea pickle was excellent and the broth was delicious. The tempura was crispy and definitely worth the price. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Sashimi set meal for 1700 yen, sea bream tea-pickled set meal for 1700 yen, and daily special (tempura) set meal for 1500 yen are the affordable options. Aside from those, there seems to be a lunch kaiseki meal starting from 3900 yen? I can't bring myself to eat a kaiseki meal alone. I'm not a fan of eating white rice with sashimi. Tempura... seems like it would make me gain weight. Given these options, I ended up choosing the sea bream tea-pickled set meal... but... I wish there were grilled or simmered dishes on the menu. Well, it's my fault for not checking properly before going. It was slightly past lunchtime, and while there wasn't a line, there was a steady stream of customers coming in and out. However, with only one woman serving on the first floor, I felt a bit like I was kept waiting. Maybe they are too busy, and I feel sorry for inconveniencing them. Having a bit more time might improve the hospitality, I think... Anyway, about 80-90% of the customers were women. For some reason, there is a higher ratio of women at slightly more expensive lunch places, but well, husbands are going to drinking parties in the evening, so it's okay to go to a slightly pricier place for lunch, right? The meal came out on a tray after about a 5-minute wait. A hot towel and hot tea were served before that, so they do provide good service. The sea bream tea-pickled set meal includes simmered hijiki seaweed, white rice, red miso soup, egg and tofu, pickles, and sweet potato yokan. The simmered hijiki seaweed, egg and tofu were as expected. But the main dish, the sea bream tea-pickled... The sea bream itself is not bad, I think. However, the sauce is quite salty, so I didn't know how much tea to add to balance it out. I want to avoid second helpings due to carb restrictions, but the dish is salty, so I need more rice. If I add too much tea, it might become diluted. I was in a dilemma while eating, so I couldn't quite figure it out. The red miso soup had a bonito flavor with a hint of sansho pepper, which was nice. The sweet potato yokan was also delicious. I ate while watching the chefs at work, and I could see that they were doing things properly, but in terms of menu composition, it wasn't quite to my liking. Maybe it would be better to go for a kaiseki meal in the evening or something like that... But for a kaiseki meal, it might be a bit rushed. There's also a second floor, so maybe it's a bit different up there.

On a Saturday afternoon, I walked down Sukiyabashi Street in Ginza. I had actually wanted to visit at the end of the year, but due to certain circumstances, I had to skip it. Finally, after over a month, I made my visit. I started lining up 10 minutes before the opening. When I hurriedly joined the line, a staff member came out and started taking orders one by one. Although the daily specials and sea bream rice bowl looked tempting, I decided to go for the "Sashimi Set" with an additional side of tempura. Orders were served in the order of entry, so I didn't have to wait long before my food arrived. The sashimi included tuna, octopus, red clam, beltfish, and striped jack, all incredibly delicious and paired perfectly with the rice. The tempura, dipped in the tentsuyu sauce, was a Tokyo-style delicacy. It was impressive how this restaurant in Ginza managed to survive with such high quality. Of course, the rice was free for seconds and even thirds (they even encouraged you to eat as much as you want). The bill came to 2,050 yen. Just like the nearby "Mikame" restaurant, this "Mutou" restaurant is a great place for a wholesome Japanese meal. It's hard to choose between the two, but I personally prefer Mikame a bit more. However, I definitely plan to continue visiting Mutou in the future. Next time, I'll try the sea bream rice bowl.

○ ================= Summary ================= - Japanese restaurant in Ginza 6-chome - Delicious sea bream tea pickled lunch - Wait time: 10 minutes (January/Tuesday 12:10) - ================= Menu ================= Sea bream tea set: 1,700 yen ☆☆ Black Senkoku beans natto: 350 yen ☆☆☆ Total: 2,050 yen Repeat note: ☆☆☆ Will order again, ☆ Satisfied this time - ================= Review ================= Hello and good evening! This is a review from Tabelog 3.51 (January 2023) about sea bream in Ginza. Initially, I went to Iwamotocho Takahashi for lunch, but they had switched to reservation-only, so I moved to Kumasawa in Ginza. Conveniently located near Tokyu Plaza, with a free 2-hour bike parking with surveillance cameras. I would like to make this place my regular spot in Ginza. - Arrived at the restaurant at 12:10, no waiting outside, two customers already seated. Clean and welcoming atmosphere, with 7 counter seats and 4 table seats. There is also a second floor. - Food was served at 12:20, ordered the sea bream tea set. Generous servings of sesame and seaweed, sea bream hidden under them. Side dishes included pickles, simmered dish, soup, tofu, and dessert. Rice portion was small, but you can get a refill. - Enjoyed the meal, the natto was unique with a soft flavor. Had a second serving of sea bream tea pickled, with plenty of seaweed and sesame. The aroma of the sauce was outstanding, and the sea bream was tender. The rice was cooked well, and the red miso soup was served with bean sprouts and shredded kelp. Dessert was milk agar. - Despite being a busy time, the restaurant was not crowded, and I had a satisfying meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

Located in Ginza, the long-established restaurant "Japanese Cuisine Muto" was founded in 1953. It is a traditional Japanese house that retains the nostalgic atmosphere of old Ginza. Originally established as "Kappo Muto" in 1953, it has continued to thrive alongside Japan's post-war recovery, witnessing the changing face of Ginza over the years. In 2010, the restaurant underwent renovations and reopened under the name "Japanese Cuisine Muto." The menu mainly consists of kaiseki cuisine, with options for à la carte and fugu courses (requires reservation). For lunch, they offer daily set meals, sashimi set meals, and tai tea set meals. Side dishes that can be ordered include assorted tempura, assorted sashimi, and black soybean natto. I ordered the "daily set meal." Today's dish was "Chicken with Salted Kombu." I later learned that the daily set meal changes according to the day of the week: Monday - simmered dishes, Tuesday - grilled fish, Wednesday - boiled fish, Thursday - fried dishes, Friday - chef's choice, Saturday - surprise. The meal included a vegetable milk jelly, kombu and cod roe simmered dish, chicken with salted kombu, mushroom and grated yam miso soup, pickles, and milk agar for dessert. The dishes were elegantly presented and delicious, allowing me to savor the seasonal flavors in a serene atmosphere filled with Japanese charm. It was a rejuvenating experience.

I visited around 11:30 on Saturday and had to wait for 45 minutes in a line of 5 groups. Even when I left at 13:00, the line was still the same, so it might be better to go before opening on holidays to avoid waiting. The inside of the restaurant is clean with spacious seating, and there are many solo female diners. I ordered the daily set meal with grilled sea bream and pork with salted kelp for 1,500 yen. The meal was served in about 10 minutes. It included two main dishes and a small side dish, which was nice. The sea bream was from the collar part, but there was a good amount of edible meat. It had a light and mild flavor. The other dish was braised pork, which was well-cooked and tender. I didn't know salted kelp could be prepared this way. The miso soup with grated yam was delicious, but a bit difficult to eat. The rice was soft and moist. You can have seconds. Overall, it was a relaxing experience with good service. However, I'm not sure if it's worth waiting in line for.

In the vicinity of Ginza Taimyo Elementary School, there are popular shops serving Inaniwa udon, curry, ramen, and more. Among them is "Mutou" located in a two-story house, offering authentic Japanese cuisine. The lunch menu is particularly popular, with options like the sashimi set, sea bream tea set, and the affordable "daily special set" priced at around 1500 yen. On Saturdays, they surprise customers with a special dish, adding to the excitement of visiting the restaurant. Arriving just before the 11:30 am opening, I found a line already forming outside. The efficient service quickly seated customers as soon as the doors opened. I ordered the daily special, which featured Negitoro and simmered oyster. The dish was beautifully presented with various accompaniments and a generous portion. The oyster was creamy and flavorful, while the Negitoro was rich and paired perfectly with the side dishes. The meal was completed with a delightful dessert. Each component was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the miso soup with bean sprouts and tororo kombu. The matcha pudding dessert was also a highlight. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience at Mutou.

Yesterday's lunch was at "Japanese Cuisine Muto" in Ginza with my father, to eat their famous sea bream tea-marinated set. We arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 am on a Saturday, and there was already a long line forming, along with the neighboring Inaniwa udon shop. Luckily, we managed to be part of the first group to enter, but if you miss the first wave, you may have to wait for over 30 minutes to get in. It's best to visit on weekdays after 1 pm. Once we were seated in a private room, we were served a delicious meal which included sea bream sashimi covered in sesame seeds, sea bream nanban-zuke, egg tofu, pickles, red miso soup, and matcha pudding as part of the sea bream tea-marinated set. We enjoyed placing the sea bream sashimi on top of rice with sesame seeds, adding nanban-zuke, pickles, nori, a bit of wasabi, and pouring hot tea over it before eating. It was incredibly delicious! I ended up having seconds of rice. Absolutely delicious!

I visited the restaurant a la carte instead of choosing a set course. Each dish was filled with traditional Japanese cooking techniques and was delicious. The deep-fried shrimp cake left a lasting impression. The set courses range from 8000 yen and up, making it a good value in Ginza. The restaurant focuses on their food, so it was a bit disappointing that there were few options for drinks. While they don't need to offer wine or whiskey, I would be happy if they could increase the variety of sake.

I went to the restaurant called Ontsuki no Soba. It's a detached house, so I thought it might be expensive, but when I looked at the lunch menu, the prices were actually quite reasonable! Sometimes even cheaper than a family restaurant. I decided to try the sea bream tea rice lunch. I was seated on the second floor, and since there were no other customers, I had the tatami room all to myself. The clean room was very cozy, and the dishes kept coming one after another in small bowls on the table. You can help yourself to rice from the rice pot. The side dishes like tempura were also very affordable, which was nice. The taste was average, but the atmosphere was relaxing and I could take my time. The sea bream tea rice with sesame and soy sauce was delicious, so I would definitely recommend trying it if you have the chance.
