Sukiya has started allowing customers to order using tablets at each table since I last visited. I was drawn in by the delicious-looking chicken in the commercial with Satomi Ishihara. The "Horo-Horo Chicken Curry" for ¥680 is advertised as having a "changed curry," and while the base remains the same, it has a spicier kick to it. The tender Horo-Horo Chicken is delicious as expected. The slightly messy presentation adds to its charm.

I used "Sukiya" for lunch yesterday. The location I visited was the Asakusabashi Ekimae store (photo 1). I arrived around 2 pm and the restaurant had about 20-30% of its seats occupied. I ordered the "Salt Koji Pork Soup with Beef Bowl (medium size)" for ¥690 using the touch panel. It arrived in less than 5 minutes (around 4 minutes) (photo 2). It was fast. It was my first time trying salt koji, so I just poured it over the beef. The taste was the usual reliable flavor of a chain restaurant, but the salt koji added a nice touch. Maybe it could go well in the pork soup too, but I think it's clearer when poured over the beef. I used a ¥100 coupon from a lucky bag I bought at the end of the year and a ¥200 electronic coupon from Merpay, so I got a discount of ¥300 in total. I enjoyed a great deal on the beef bowl set for ¥390. That's all.

I felt the spiciness more than I expected. It's still fast, delicious, and cheap, but the problem is that I always struggle to decide on a menu each time and it takes me a long time to make a decision! I end up wanting to try a little bit of everything, which becomes a habit! When new menus like this come out, I feel like trying them without hesitation.

On a certain Saturday night, I wandered around the Asakusabashi area. Feeling hungry, I looked for a restaurant but only found bars. I then noticed "Sukiya Asakusabashi Ekimae" and decided to go in. It was around 9:30 PM and there were two customers already inside. I sat at the counter and ordered my usual beef bowl (regular) with a 3-piece set (500 yen). The set included raw egg, miso soup, and pickles. The food arrived quickly. I started by making a hole in the rice, cracking the raw egg into it, mixing it with the rice, then covering it with the beef and toppings. I added some pickled ginger and shichimi pepper for extra flavor. It was delicious, especially when eating the rice and beef together. The flavors of the miso soup and pickles complemented the beef bowl perfectly. I finished it quickly and wondered when I would be able to eat it again. I hope to have this set again next time. I had lunch at a Sukiya near JR Asakusabashi Station East Exit (^^; It's been a while since I came to Tokyo. This time, I have very little free time because of training. I was planning to have Western food at Ooyoshi nearby for lunch, but I ran out of time and had to give up. In the end, I ended up here near the station. They offer a lunch menu with different toppings changing by the day of the week from 11:00 to 14:00, with miso soup included for 500 yen (tax included). I was hoping for the Kimchi Gyudon on Monday, but I decided against it due to the training (^^; So, I just went with the regular Gyudon for 350 yen. Surprisingly, there were more than 5 customers who had already ordered and were waiting for their food. I also had to wait for over 5 minutes... I was surprised because I had limited time. I guess it's unavoidable when there are a lot of customers and a wide variety of menu options. The Gyudon with beef and onions was delicious after a long time. It was just the right amount as I was in a hurry. They also sell bento boxes for takeout at the store. It seems like there are more customers here compared to Kansai. 2018.8.20
