JR Ayase Station West Exit, about a 2-minute walk away, is Matsunoya Ayase Store, a tonkatsu specialty restaurant. It is a tonkatsu business of Matsuya Foods, known for Matsuya. The exit of Ayase Station can be a bit confusing. The west exit is at the end in the direction of going up, and the east exit is at the end in the direction of going down. If you take the wrong exit, you will end up walking the distance of one train ride, so please be careful. If you want to have tonkatsu for lunch in Kitasenju, the individual store Moriki on the east side has not been open recently (I think...?). On the west side, Shimada is open with a line. If there is no line, tonkatsu is sold out. In that case, the restaurants in Kitasenju where you can have tonkatsu are Katsuya Kitasenju Nishiguchi Store, Marui, and the restaurant floor of Lumine (not highly recommended). Therefore, in my opinion, the number one tonkatsu in Kitasenju is Katsuya Kitasenju Nishiguchi Store. However, there is a doubt. I decided by process of elimination, but is it really okay to choose "Katsuya"? Such doubts come and go. So, let's go one station down on the Joban Line. This place near Ayase Station is basically similar to the atmosphere of "Katsuya". Without the sign, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference inside the store. However, they have a lethal weapon here, which is the thick-cut pork cutlet. *Thick-cut pork cutlet & oyster fry set meal 1,000 yen This time, I ordered takeout. Buying a meal ticket and waiting is similar to Matsuya. When you open the lid, you are greeted by a thick pork cutlet. This is something "Katsuya" cannot imitate. The thickness makes a big difference in the taste of the meat. I also think Matsuya's curry and gyudon are delicious, but the passion for tonkatsu is extraordinary. Of course, I don't expect a pink gradient on raw meat coated with breadcrumbs, but this thickness makes up for a lot of things. In fact, Ayase is also a tonkatsu barren land. I believe the superiority of this store is quite unshakable. Even though it is a chain store.
