The pork cutlet set meal costs 590 yen, but if you buy it with the official app coupon, it's 500 yen and comes with pork cutlet, cabbage, rice, and miso soup. The special sauce is delicious and makes the pork cutlet taste even better. The carrot dressing is also tasty and makes everything taste better. In terms of price and taste, I think it's the best in Aoyama. It would be impossible for a small restaurant to match this taste and price. I'm happy that it's located nearby.

The breakfast set meals with 100g, 200g, and 300g of rice are all priced the same. The cost per person is around 400 yen. I went for a morning activity called "morning cutlet" with friends after going to a bar. It was my first time at Matsunoya, and I was surprised by how cost-effective it was! You can enjoy a luxurious set meal for the price of ordering a lot of gyudon. ✨✨✨

I have recently been hooked on Matsunoya because it's cheap and you can get free refills of rice! However, it seems like this particular location doesn't offer free refills, which was disappointing. The food is delicious but just be aware that not all locations allow free rice refills. It's a mystery why it varies by store.

Title "Unbelievable Affordability! Is Matsunoya the Savior of Stagflation?!" Taking advantage of Citizen's Day, I decided to visit various facilities in Tokyo by train for the first time in about a month since my September 18 ticket trip. It has been even longer since I last took a train to a destination within Tokyo... maybe about six months. I got off at Ayase Station, which was also a rare occurrence. Just a short walk towards the Yokocho side, I found Matsunoya. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:32 AM on a Saturday morning, and there were already more than 10 customers inside. There was even a group of salarymen enjoying beer and chatting, which made me envious of their morning beer. I purchased a meal ticket at the ticket machine near the entrance. My order was the Morning Tamago Kake Gohan Set for 250 yen, with a free upgrade to a large portion of Croquette Rice. I sat down and a staff member promptly came to collect my ticket. The meal was served in just 4 minutes! I would rate it a perfect 10. Nori (seaweed): 5 points - It was a thin type of seasoned seaweed with 4 sheets included. Tamago (egg): 5 points - The size was a bit small. I had some rice first before moving on to the Tamago Kake Gohan. Miso soup: 4 points - The miso flavor was light, but it had a strong salty taste. I added condiments like Shichimi pepper for extra flavor. The Shichimi pepper was just a standard blend. Rice: 7 points - It was nice to have the option to choose from regular, medium, to large portions for free. A large portion was about the size of a regular Gyudon bowl at Matsuya. The quality and texture of the rice were decent. Croquette: 8 points - This was the most delicious dish of the meal. The outer crust was crispy, and the inside was sweet and fluffy, with a great potato flavor. The size was a bit small, similar to the size of a croquette from Yude Tarou. It was about 2 cm thick, 7 cm long, and 5 cm wide. Overall rating: 6 points - While the meal was reasonably tasty, the croquette stood out as particularly delicious. The affordability of 250 yen with a free upgrade made the cost performance incredibly high. Considering that, the rating could have been even higher, but the overall taste was just average, which held back the score. Nevertheless, the affordability was amazing! It felt like I had traveled back in time 10 years to a dimension of unbelievably low prices. I was so impressed that I plan to visit again later this month! (2022.10.1)

Located right near the west exit of Ayase Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, this restaurant offers tonkatsu operated by Matsuya Foods. The interior of the restaurant has a ticket vending machine at the entrance, counter seats on the right, and table seats on the left. They offer a limited morning menu from 5:00 to 11:00. One of the items on the morning menu is the Tamagodon (as of July 2, 2022), which is a set meal of Tamagodon and miso soup. The Tamagodon has partially runny eggs mixed with onions, green onions, and topping of mitsuba. It is seasoned with a not too sweet sauce, and the sauce seeps into the rice a little. The miso soup served as a side has wakame seaweed as an ingredient. It has the reliable taste that you would expect from Matsuya. All the morning menu items are priced at one coin, providing great value for money. Bon appétit.

Today I went to Matsunoya after a long time. It's conveniently located near the station, so it's great when I'm short on time. I decided to try the rich curry sauce with pork cutlet set meal, which I had never tried before. The meal arrived shortly, and the curry sauce was topped with plenty of dried garlic chips, so be careful of the strong smell. The curry sauce was not very spicy and easy to eat, but the garlic flavor was strong. The pork cutlet itself was tender and thick. There was plenty of cabbage, and the rice portion was satisfying. I enjoyed the meal and would like to come back again.

I visited the local Matsuya restaurant at Ayase Station West Exit, which used to be a 24-hour tonkatsu restaurant called Matsunoya. I arrived at 6:40 am on a Tuesday and ordered the Special Morning Loin Cutlet Set (with cold tofu) and rice (regular size). The food was served in 7 minutes. The tonkatsu was small but cooked in a half-circle shape, which was a nice touch. The cabbage, potato salad, and seaweed all had the Matsuya logo on them. The miso soup was seaweed miso soup. The cold tofu was surprisingly large and satisfying. You can choose from various side dishes for the cold tofu. The tonkatsu was crispy and hot, and when I took a bite, it tasted like chicken katsu for a moment. The pork was lean and light. The rice comes in small, regular, or large sizes, all for the same price. For less than a coin, you can enjoy such a fulfilling breakfast set, which is something you can expect from a major chain restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Both my husband and I were in the mood for a hearty meal, so we decided to visit Matsunoya once again. I ordered the Pork Cutlet & Authentic Fried Chicken Set for 810 yen, while my husband ordered the Pork Cutlet & Double Chicken Cutlet Set for 930 yen (with a small rice portion). The meals were quite filling, with over 1000 calories, and offered great value for less than 1000 yen. The free option for extra rice was appreciated. The food was delicious, with the pork cutlet being tender and full of flavor. The authentic fried chicken was smaller in size compared to other places, but tasted great when paired with the sudachi dressing provided. The double chicken cutlet came with tartar sauce. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Yes. A quick option for when you want to eat fast at a Matsuya affiliated store. Well, I always end up ordering the same menu though. I ordered the loin cutlet set meal with cold tofu and potato salad. All for 720 yen. Still cheap as always. A friend of salarymen. The special sauce has a hint of spice. Truly, Matsuya is like a curry shop. The miso soup is also full of ingredients. Yeah, I'll probably visit again. Thank you for the meal!

In front of Matsunoya's shop, there is a banner that says "Revival Crispy Fried Chicken". The sound of "crispy" is intriguing. After work today, I decided to try it. I purchased a ticket for "Crispy Fried Chicken" for 750 yen, which came with 6 pieces. I had never heard of this crispy fried chicken before, but I noticed it from the banner this time. The crispy coating with coarse ground black pepper is delicious. When you take a bite, the juicy chicken inside is also tasty. Just squeezing some lemon on it makes it even better. Actually, just enjoying it with lemon alone is the best, isn't it? Although Matsunoya is known for their tonkatsu, the businessman next to me was having tonkatsu while everyone else around me was enjoying the crispy fried chicken. It seems like everyone knows how delicious it is.

Today's lunch was at Matsunoya, and I was attracted by their limited-time offer called "Fukapeko Festa" until April 7th. It's only available during lunch hours from 11:00 to 14:00, where 10 items in the restaurant are 500 yen cheaper. I decided to try the Miso Tonkatsu set! Normally priced at 690 yen, the set includes Miso Tonkatsu, cabbage, miso soup, and rice, making it a great deal at this price! The delicious miso soup and tonkatsu set were a treat! Thank you for the meal!

Matsunoya, a tonkatsu specialty restaurant operated by Matsuya, offers freshly fried tonkatsu set for only ¥590, or ¥650 for a larger portion of rice. By using a free service ticket, you can enjoy some cabbage on the side. While the tonkatsu itself is average, the special sauce they offer is delicious. The cabbage goes well with both carrot dressing and sudachi dressing. The tonkatsu portion might feel a bit small with the larger rice option, but adding fried oysters will bring the total to ¥850. I enjoyed the tonkatsu by generously pouring the special sauce and adding mustard for extra flavor. The cabbage with both dressings provided a nice balance of acidity and sweetness. Overall, I think getting a freshly fried tonkatsu for ¥590 is a great deal. They also offer katsudon and katsu curry, so I might visit once a month. Just to clarify, the restaurant is called Matsunoya, not Matsunoya.

I suddenly felt like having katsudon and thought about going to a nearby soba restaurant, but they don't open until 12 o'clock. There's still some time to kill. Once the idea of katsudon popped into my head, my craving for it took over. The katsudon at the bento shop, supermarket, or convenience store just doesn't cut it. So I decided to try the katsudon at "Matsunoya" instead. Luckily, they were open. I ordered the "Rosu Katsudon for 550 yen." The egg was not perfectly runny, but the katsu was big and the portion was generous, making it a satisfying katsudon. And all for just 550 yen, what a bargain! The seasoning seemed to have a salty Edo-style taste. Personally, as someone from Kyushu, I prefer a bit less soy sauce and more sweetness. But the tonkatsu was delicious and tender. And the size was impressive. Overall, it was a very satisfying katsudon.

I visited Matsunoya Ayase branch. I ordered the pork cutlet bowl (550 yen). After a while, it was served. The cutlet was thin. The batter was flavorful but quite salty. I thought the seaweed on the cutlet was unnecessary. The egg was half-cooked, mixed well with the rice, and was delicious to eat. Thank you for the meal.

When I went for a regular check-up in Wakamatsu-Kawada and thought of having lunch, I found that almost all the restaurants in the doctor's town were closed. It's a pity for the healthcare workers who rely on takeout, but there's not much choice. Bringing a bento or going to a convenience store seems to be the only option. So, I ended up going to Matsunoya in Aoyama as usual for a late lunch. I had the pork cutlet set meal. I think I'll have to eat at chain restaurants for a while. But still, being able to eat is better than nothing. I appreciate it. It's cheap and comes in handy when eating out is necessary. Plus, I was running low on kitchen paper, so I couldn't fry anything at home and had to buy it outside, so that was helpful too. Sorry for the housewife's perspective. It was delicious, of course. Thank you for the meal.

This is a tonkatsu restaurant operated by the Matsuya Foods chain, which is known for its gyudon. It is open 24 hours a day. You purchase your meal ticket from a vending machine. The soup curry costs ¥500, the 3-piece fried chicken is ¥230, and the 5-piece oyster fry is ¥680. The soup curry is thin and not quite like Sapporo soup curry, with a mix of Indian and Western flavors. It has chopped green onions in it and is quite spicy. It's not bad, but the curry from Matsuya Foods seems to be of lower quality in terms of appearance and taste. The fried chicken and oyster fry are both delicious and reasonably priced.

I felt like eating tonkatsu, so I remembered that Matsunoya is located in Ayase and decided to stop by Ayase Station to visit. I tried tonkatsu, hirekatsu, and this time I had miso katsu. I purchased a meal ticket and waited at the counter for a few minutes. The freshly fried miso katsu arrived. I started with the shredded cabbage, drizzled with carrot dressing. I lifted a piece of the tonkatsu from the middle. Although it costs 650 yen, it was quite thick and large. I dipped it in the miso. The miso was slightly spicy. It's a taste that makes you want more rice. The meat was tender and delicious. I even had miso soup and left feeling full. Thank you for the meal.

JR Ayase Station West Exit, about a 2-minute walk away, is Matsunoya Ayase Store, a tonkatsu specialty restaurant. It is a tonkatsu business of Matsuya Foods, known for Matsuya. The exit of Ayase Station can be a bit confusing. The west exit is at the end in the direction of going up, and the east exit is at the end in the direction of going down. If you take the wrong exit, you will end up walking the distance of one train ride, so please be careful. If you want to have tonkatsu for lunch in Kitasenju, the individual store Moriki on the east side has not been open recently (I think...?). On the west side, Shimada is open with a line. If there is no line, tonkatsu is sold out. In that case, the restaurants in Kitasenju where you can have tonkatsu are Katsuya Kitasenju Nishiguchi Store, Marui, and the restaurant floor of Lumine (not highly recommended). Therefore, in my opinion, the number one tonkatsu in Kitasenju is Katsuya Kitasenju Nishiguchi Store. However, there is a doubt. I decided by process of elimination, but is it really okay to choose "Katsuya"? Such doubts come and go. So, let's go one station down on the Joban Line. This place near Ayase Station is basically similar to the atmosphere of "Katsuya". Without the sign, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference inside the store. However, they have a lethal weapon here, which is the thick-cut pork cutlet. *Thick-cut pork cutlet & oyster fry set meal 1,000 yen This time, I ordered takeout. Buying a meal ticket and waiting is similar to Matsuya. When you open the lid, you are greeted by a thick pork cutlet. This is something "Katsuya" cannot imitate. The thickness makes a big difference in the taste of the meat. I also think Matsuya's curry and gyudon are delicious, but the passion for tonkatsu is extraordinary. Of course, I don't expect a pink gradient on raw meat coated with breadcrumbs, but this thickness makes up for a lot of things. In fact, Ayase is also a tonkatsu barren land. I believe the superiority of this store is quite unshakable. Even though it is a chain store.

I bought food tickets for "Rosukatsu Soup Curry" and "Draft Beer". The draft beer was only 180 yen, so I thought it was a great deal, but then I realized I had accidentally pressed the "small" button for the beer (laughs). To make matters worse, I ended up getting a take-out ticket for the curry because I unknowingly pressed the same screen that the previous customer had touched. Thankfully, the staff kindly allowed me to dine in instead. When the curry arrived, it looked more like a regular curry in the photos, but it turned out to be a thin soup curry. Soup curry is like a drink, really. I had fun dipping the tonkatsu in the soup or pouring the medium-thick sauce over it, and even trying out their original sweet sauce. But why soup curry, I wonder? That's the only thing that's puzzling (laughs).

Due to the intense heat, I didn't feel like cooking at home so I went to Matsunoya for the first time in a while. I ordered the pork loin cutlet set meal. Eating outside really stimulates the appetite. I can't even eat in the morning. I filled up on stamina. It's reasonable and easy on the wallet, which is a relief. Even if it's a bit pricey, it's around 1,000 yen. I will definitely go back to eat there when I have no appetite.
