On Sunday, it was 32 degrees Celsius and cloudy. On my way to a friend's house, I stopped by a cake shop. I bought a pink marshmallow for ¥500 and an egg cake for ¥400. The marshmallow wasn't too sweet but had a fluffy texture. The egg cake received a good review for being delicious. The service was provided by a beautiful Spanish woman.

This is a French pastry shop located on Ginza Street in Higashi-Nakano. I visited this shop after having lunch at a nearby restaurant and seeing how delicious and affordable their pastries looked while waiting. I purchased the Eiffel Tower cream puff for 310 yen (tax included) and the strawberry cream puff for 360 yen (tax included). The cream inside was slightly firm and had a taste similar to buttercream.

A small and cozy pastry shop in Higashi-Nakano that evokes the charm of living in France (although I haven't been there much). They sell simple tarts without much decoration, rather than the typical fancy pastries like macarons or chocolate cakes. Personally, this genre doesn't interest me much, but the shop itself is quite interesting. I'll come back to study it more.

After eating to my heart's content at Tenichi in Nakano, I took a leisurely stroll to Higashi-Nakano Station. I rarely come this far, so I decided to search for some delicious sweets. As I was scrolling through various photos of different shops, I came across a picture that I couldn't resist as a cream puff lover! So, I headed to this shop. Just as the photos showed, the cream puffs were filled generously with cream. They had three varieties of cream puffs: Eiffel, strawberry, and coffee. I bought the Eiffel and strawberry ones, but later regretted not choosing the coffee flavor instead for the strawberry one because the strawberry was on top of the Eiffel puff. I also purchased a strawberry tart. They had quiches and other side dishes as well, but I thought they were a bit pricey, so I only bought sweets this time. When I opened the box at home, the cream puffs were slightly tilted, just like some reviewers had mentioned, but the puff pastry perched on top was cute. The Eiffel cream puff (310 yen) had a slightly firm texture and was not overly sweet. The cream did crumble a bit, as some other reviewers had noted, but it was easy to eat without getting messy. The strawberry cream puff (360 yen) had a strawberry on top of the Eiffel puff. The strawberry tart (1/4 cut) (500 yen) was not something I usually buy, but since there were so many on display, I couldn't resist. It was also not too sweet, and the acidity of the strawberries was not overpowering, making it easy to enjoy the crispy crust.

Night after night, I take a stroll to Higashi-Nakano for some shopping. After getting the necessary items at Summit Higashi-Nakano store, I make a detour to browse for some treats here. As usual, there are plenty of delicious tarts lined up. But, I quickly spot items with discount tags! It's like a gift from the heavens, with 50% off on selected items. And to top it off, the pudding is on sale for 2 for 400 yen! Even more value for money than half price, it almost feels like I'm taking advantage of the situation. The foreign staff member serving us smiles and greets us warmly, despite our penny-pinching ways. "Please come again," she says as we leave. Yes, we definitely will! Back at home, I enjoy some side dishes with my evening drink. The next day, I indulge in the pudding for a snack. - Prosciutto and Soft-Boiled Egg Jelly: A dish where a soft-boiled egg is wrapped in prosciutto, served with vegetables in a consommé jelly. The vegetables include finely diced carrots and spinach. Packed in a sealed plastic cup, this intricate side dish is surprisingly affordable. The gentle sweetness of the vegetables, the creamy texture of the soft-boiled egg, and the savory flavor of the prosciutto are perfectly balanced by the consommé jelly. A truly delicious dish that suits my taste perfectly! - Custard Pudding: With a caramel-like aroma and a subtle hint of acidity, the caramel topping is quite overpowering, almost masking the gentle flavor of the pudding underneath. - Honey Pudding: Without the characteristic bitterness of honey, this pudding pairs seamlessly with the custard. It's my first time trying a honey pudding, and it's surprisingly natural, combining the best of both worlds in a delicious way. The pudding itself is similar to the custard pudding, milky and soft, yet not lacking in texture or depth of flavor. The honey serves as a caramel substitute, and it works wonderfully! I had planned on trying the coffee-flavored choux based on another reviewer's recommendation, but I couldn't resist the discounted items. It turned out to be a delicious choice, and I couldn't help but smile at my decision.

On this day in February 2021, I visited Higashi-Nakano. After having dinner at "Juban" restaurant, on my way back towards the station along "Higashi-Nakano Ginza Street," I came across an intriguing shop. It was a shop called "Le Jardin Gaulois" that sells French deli and sweets. The charming storefront and the items displayed in the showcase caught my attention, so I decided to stop by. On this day, I purchased: 1) Provence Quiche for 500 yen, which is a quiche with ham, tomato, and bell pepper that gives a taste of the sunny South of France. It was delicious and felt like a bite of Provence. 2) Carrot and Walnut Salad for 265 yen, which was crunchy carrots with walnuts, a perfect balance of saltiness and acidity. 3) Strawberry Cream Puff for 360 yen, a seasonal treat with fresh strawberries that was not too sweet and very enjoyable. 4) Strawberry Tart - 1/4 cut for 250 yen (50% off), a moist tart with plenty of strawberries that was delicious. If this shop was near my home or workplace, I would definitely visit it regularly.

This is Ginza Higashi-Nakano in Tokyo. This French pastry shop, owned by a patissier from Burgundy, seems to have a French deli vibe, with delicious French desserts as well. Today, I found the shortcake needed for a celebration. The strawberries on the cake are coated, with almond coating on the sides. The cream is creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. The sponge cake is slightly moist and seems to have something mixed in. In Paris, where soft sponge cakes are not common, finding a shortcake is said to involve asking a German restaurant or making it yourself. Perhaps by incorporating a French taste, the shortcake turned out like this. Are the strawberry stems for decoration?

I took it home and it was delicious♡ When I searched for a lunch spot in Higashi-Nakano, I came across this shop near the shopping street that specializes in terrines and quiches, which I love. I thought, I have to go there! So I visited on a whim. I asked if it was possible to pick up the items before a movie, and a red-haired French girl who was piping cream on cakes said, "Wait a moment." I waited a few minutes, but I liked that feeling. If it were a chain store, I might think, don't make customers wait, but they put effort into making delicious food and sweets, and the wait was not bad at all. This time, I purchased a variety of quiches, a variety of terrines, and the recommended strawberry pie for about 2500 yen in total (very reasonable!). The quiches had great colors, sizes, and aromas, but the pastry was a bit flat because it wasn't warmed up properly, which was a bit disappointing. The terrines were not very creamy, but had a simple and flavorful taste that showcased the ingredients beautifully. I usually don't buy sweet things, but I enjoyed the pie with a latte, sharing it with my family and topping it with ice cream. My daughter even asked, "When are we going again?" Higashi-Nakano used to be just a station with a few handsome guys from Meidai Nakano in my high school days, so I didn't get off there often. However, today the shopping street had many attractive shops. The area seems to be getting more fashionable with couples taking the Oedo Line. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful and heartwarming experience.

I came to Higashi-Nakano Station so I decided to stop by. When I searched, the opening hours were until 11 pm! And they were still open. For some reason, I encountered this place twice at events, and this is my third visit to the actual store. I wanted to try a tart that I had never bought before, but since I was here, I decided to go for something different from what they sell at events! The Eiffel cream puff and strawberry shortcake look good! The cream puff comes in three flavors: vanilla, raspberry, and coffee. I couldn't decide which one to get... I love berries, so I chose raspberry. Just like its name suggests, the Eiffel cream puff has a flat choux pastry base with a generous mound of cream on top. The other item is a shortcake, and you have to be careful when carrying it! If you hold the handle of the bag normally, by the time you get home, both items will probably be all smashed... So, I held the part of the bag below the handle and tried not to shake the box too much while walking. Thanks to that, both the Eiffel and the shortcake arrived home safely! (^_^) I wonder if they purposely pipe the cream on the Eiffel puff at an angle? Or do they not mind if it's at an angle or straight? But since it's a takeout-only shop, I wish they would pipe it straight up, considering the carrying aspect (^_^) If it's piped at an angle, there's a high chance of it collapsing before reaching home. The shortcake is decorated with almond slices on the sides, with a sponge cake soaked in syrup, sandwiched with strawberry sauce and cream. Both were delicious. Thank you for the meal!

First stop in Higashi-Nakano: Moze Second stop: Here I visited here for dessert after enjoying a delicious pasta. <Order> Eiffel Tower Cream Puff - 310 yen Raspberry Cream Puff - 340 yen The cream puffs were a bit dry, not smooth and moist as expected. I adjusted my expectations based on the appearance. However, the service was polite, and I hope they continue to do their best. Thank you for the meal.

East Nakano, there used to be a main store in Ogikubo, but it closed in 2016. At one point, they also had branches in Shin Marunouchi Building and Ginza Plantan. However, now only the East Nakano store remains. It started as a takeout store for a French restaurant called Blanc de Muguet. It is a French deli located in the East Nakano Ginza shopping street. The owner is a French chef named Richard. The prices are reasonable, and you can purchase authentic-looking dishes. The store is strictly for takeout. Many similar stores tend to be overly expensive, but this one is the opposite. The quiches, pates, aspics, and more are displayed in the showcase. From wine pairings to Eiffel Tower cream and tarts, even sweets are available. The sweets may feel a bit rough in terms of authenticity, but the deli items make you appreciate having this store nearby. I like that they are not Japanized, and I often visit to buy wine accompaniments. While writing this, I realized I tend to buy sweets like Eiffel Tower cream more than the deli items, as seen in past photos (laughs). This cherry pie is definitely not the taste of a Japanese chef but something American lovers would enjoy as well. I appreciate that the prices drop noticeably as the expiration date approaches, making it a reliable choice. I remember seeing a French customer buying escargot and having a quiet conversation in French with the staff. It's nice to see that kind of interaction; it's a lovely store.

During this time of staying at home due to the coronavirus, my husband and I decided to take a healthy walk together. We chose to walk through less crowded back alleys and planned to treat ourselves with something nice in Higashi-Nakano at the end of our walk. We had originally intended to buy a visually impressive cream puff that had caught our eye, but then I remembered that we had indulged in Ganache cream puffs just a week ago, so we quickly changed our plans. Instead, we stopped by this place that had been on my mind for a while and purchased a half of a Strawberry Tart - Tarte aux Fraises for 850 yen including tax. The price was clearly displayed, which made me feel comfortable making the purchase. The shop's cutting method was to cut this in half for two people to share, but since our daughter, a new employee working hard from home, was also at home, they kindly cut it into three pieces for us. The tart was generously topped with strawberries, giving it a rich feeling. The tart base was slightly thick and had a crispy texture that I personally enjoyed. It was quite delicious! The custard cream, strawberries, and strawberry jam on top were well balanced, creating a harmonious blend when eaten. The tart base had a good amount of butter in it, which added to the satisfaction level. Even just one-third of the tart felt like the perfect size to accompany a cup of tea. Maybe it's because of my age, but when I was younger, I used to love large cakes from certain cake shops, but now I realize that there are more important things than size. It took me almost half a century to come to this realization... The shop is always manned by a French gentleman, and I wonder if he prepares the menu and price cards himself. On this day, he was there as usual. I couldn't help but smile at the playful price card for the assortment set that was placed next to the item I picked up (refer to the photo). These little details are what make individual shops so charming. It's a shop with a lovable and unique character.

The owner and all the staff at this shop are French. It's a takeout-only French deli that suits the Prince d'Arles area. I overheard some French people chatting about how the world has changed due to the coronavirus, so I couldn't help but join in and ask if their families back home were okay. It seems like everyone is going through a tough time. I ended up accidentally flipping over the two cream puffs my wife wanted while carrying them home, so I can only share this messy photo, I'm really sorry about that. The cakes had an old-fashioned taste and were delicious.

On my way back walking from Nakano, I remembered seeing this shop introduced on TV before and decided to stop by. It looked a bit like a peek inside, but there were some items at the counter that were 50% off, so I decided to try the Ratatouille and Quiche. [Ratatouille] It had a strong sour taste, hmm, is this how it is in the original? I love eating it at the restaurant or making it myself, but if this is the original, it's not that great. (laughs) [Quiche] It had a quite refreshing flavor. Moist and soft, feels good for the body. A bit firm with lots of filling, like a Western-style chawanmushi on pie crust. Hmm, it's hard to describe it well since I haven't eaten it much before. There were many different things, so I might take a closer look next time. Thank you for the meal.

As I was walking through the shopping street in Higashi-Nakano, my legs stopped in front of this shop without me realizing it. They mainly offer French sweets, but they also have takeout dishes available, which could be quite useful for home parties. I think the taste is decent.

In the "Ginza-dori Shotengai" at Higashi-Nakano Station, there is a unique shop called "LE JARDIN GAULOIS". This shop exudes a slightly different atmosphere compared to other shops in Higashi-Nakano. The showcase displays various delicious cakes and side dishes. I have never tried quiche before, but I imagine it must be delicious. This time, I tried the "Chouquette Rusk", a traditional French baked confectionery that has been made crispy so that it can be enjoyed with a "crunch" even in Japan's humidity. It costs 400 yen (tax included). The crispy texture exceeded my imagination. There are also many half-price items lined up, making it easy to try a variety of things.

This shop near the entrance of the shopping street sells cakes and French cuisine for takeout. The staff are all French and speak (probably) good Japanese. In the evening, they have discounted items on display, so I couldn't help but buy some. On this day, I purchased quiche and strawberry tart, both at half price, which made me very happy. The quiche had a wonderful aroma when reheated the next morning, and it tasted really good. It was more authentic than I expected, with plenty of herbs, but my child didn't like it. However, they loved the strawberry tart. Although I didn't buy it this time, their chouquettes are also delicious. I will definitely stop by again when I pass by. Thank you for the meal.

French deli owned and run by Richard Rodot, originally from Burgundy, France, specializing in takeout. There used to be a shop in Marunouchi Building as well. Located just a short walk from Higashi-Nakano Station, across from Atre Vie, on a shopping street called Higashi-Nakano Ginza. They offer a variety of French sweets such as tarts, strawberry guimauve (French marshmallow), cakes, puddings, as well as terrines, salads, quiches, venison stew in red wine, and other French delicacies in small portions. The atmosphere is not flashy but resembles a small local deli in France, offering home-style dishes. Perfect for a lunchtime picnic in the park with wine. Their popular item is the "Eiffel Cream Puff," with a crispy choux pastry piled high with cream like the Eiffel Tower. The cream has a light European dessert taste. The cinnamon apple cheesecake is mildly sweet, and the cheesecake itself has a subtle egg aroma. The strawberry tart leans towards the sweeter side. The staff, often fluent in Japanese, are friendly and helpful. They sometimes offer discounts on select items in the evening.

At the World Food Market event on its final day, everything was half price. I bought a quiche set for 750 yen, originally priced at 1500 yen. The eggs were fluffy and the base was crispy, everything was delicious. Since this event is held every year, I plan to come again next year.
