I went to Chofu after a long time and stopped by Sarutahiko Coffee. It may be the first time since I started cafe hopping? It's a familiar shop that I used to pass by every day as it was on my way. I enjoyed its greatness once again. By the way, I have been to Sarutahiko Coffee before during a talk and live event three years ago. I am always grateful for their support. Also, I am always grateful to Sarutahiko Shrine, which is the origin of the shop's name. I think I first discovered Sarutahiko Coffee in Sengawa. I remember thinking it had a shrine-like name. The logo is octagonal, so I should have realized the connection earlier, but I only noticed it quite recently. Sarutahiko Shrine in Ise has an octagonal orientation stone for road opening, and the pillars of the torii gate are also octagonal. It seems that there is a deep connection to Chofu as a roasting facility has been established there, but it turns out that Ebisu was the first location. After a while, I went to Chofu and had to park my bike for a short time, so I parked behind Triet Bldg. and it became a usual route to pass by Sarutahiko Coffee. So I decided to have coffee there. Even though I have passed by more than a hundred times, I have only had their coffee once. This time, I had the Father's Day Blend, which is a blend of Kenya, Colombia, and Nicaragua with anaerobic fermentation. The tasting notes included DARK CHERRY, CHOCOLATE, VANILLA. I can't really tell the difference, but it seems that anaerobic fermentation is one of the fermentation processes where the beans are soaked in mucilage after processing. It is combined with the refining method to create "Anaerobic Natural," "Anaerobic Washed," "Anaerobic Honey," but it's quite complicated. Anyway, I'll just understand it in my head as the flavors differ. The taste was a calming one, different from the current citrus-flavored coffee, more like a traditional coffee taste. I felt like they carefully dripped it. Looking around the shop again, it's a wonderful place that feels like a hotel lounge. Just before leaving, a sofa seat became available, so I sat down for a little while. It's a nice spot, but you might get stuck once you settle in! They have also opened a shop in Mie, so I would like to visit it next time I go on a pilgrimage to Ise.
