After purchasing a evening set with a brush of soy sauce, seaweed bento, and mountain climbing, let's take a look at the neighboring Ogino-ya. When you see the Kama rice at the pass, you can't help but want to buy it. Since I share the evening set with my wife, I can eat at least one! Just as I was about to get the "Kama rice at the pass," what caught my eye was the "Gyudon at the pass." I haven't tried this before. Alright, decision made - Gyudon at the pass for 1500 yen (tax included). I'll have this as the finale for my evening drink when I get home. The Gyudon at the pass is a special beef bowl made with luxurious Joshu beef, with the sweetness of high-quality beef fat and Ogino-ya's original sauce, creating an exquisite deliciousness. What's great is that it also comes with pickles in a separate container, just like the Kama rice at the pass. The pickles include "pickled plum, mountain burdock, small eggplant, cucumber, and wasabi pickles," a total of five varieties, which is enough to make fans want to buy them on their own. It's no wonder that a product that has been loved for a long time without change is truly delicious. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The kettle rice at the mountain pass brings back memories of my childhood. Back when there was no Hokuriku Shinkansen, I used to look forward to buying a kettle rice bento at Yokokawa Station on the Shinetsu Main Line. Passing by the shop in front of GINZA SIX, I saw they had "Kakimeshi from the mountain pass" for sale. And it was the last day! I had to buy it. The ingredients include mixed rice (rice (domestic), oysters, soy sauce, others), simmered oysters, fried burdock, simmered shiitake mushrooms, simmered apricot, simmered chestnut, boiled quail eggs, pickled ginger, wood buds, side dish (pickles) / seasoning (amino acids, etc.), acidulant, coloring (caramel, gardenia, anthocyanin, yellow 4), thickener (xanthan gum), alcohol, sweeteners (stevia, licorice), flavorings, bleach (sulfite), preservatives (sorbic acid potassium), antioxidants (V.C), spice extracts, (contains eggs, wheat, soybeans in some parts). The toppings include oysters, fried burdock (julienne), shiitake mushrooms, apricots, chestnuts, quail eggs, pickled ginger, wood buds. The rice is oyster rice! Pickles are in a separate container. The fried burdock julienne is different from the simmered burdock in kettle rice. The container for Kakimeshi from the mountain pass was black, not brown. Let's reuse the container for cooking one serving of mixed rice. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Oginoya, a restaurant specializing in kama-meshi located on the B2 floor of Ginza Six, is known for their famous Toge no Kamameshi. I tried it without knowing its reputation and found it to be very delicious! The kama container is famous, but it seems they have switched to a paper pack for energy efficiency. The portion of rice was quite generous and satisfying. It's not easy to find bento-style kama-meshi, so it was great to be able to get a good takeout option!

The other day, after drinking at the oldest beer hall in Japan's Ginza, I went to G SIX nearby to find something to eat to finish off the night. After exploring the food floor, I ended up at this store. It is a permanent store of a famous station bento shop in Yokogawa, known for its Togei Kamameshi. I had known about this place for a while, but this was my first time using it. It was past 8 pm when I visited, and besides the Togei Kamameshi, they also had sukiyaki bento, wappa-meshi, and several other bentos on display. At first, I thought about buying the Kamameshi in the traditional Mashiko ware container, but it only had an hour left until the expiration date. So, I ended up buying the one in the paper container with a few hours left. I usually buy the one in the ceramic container which has a nice traditional feel, so this was my first time buying the paper container one. When I got home and removed the paper cover, I was relieved to see the plastic container of pickles inside. My routine is to drink with the pickles, then with the Kamameshi ingredients, and finally eat the remaining rice and pickles. The Kamameshi in the paper container tasted just as delicious as the one in the Mashiko ware, if not better. The Mashiko ware container is just used to pack the cooked rice, so I have never encountered burnt rice with Togei Kamameshi before, but this time I found a burnt piece. Also, it felt like it was freshly made. Considering that this bento is only available at G SIX, it made me wonder if this Kamameshi is actually made in Tokyo. I usually keep things that I think I might use in the future, but end up not using them, and the prime example of this is the Mashiko ware container from Togei Kamameshi. From now on, I want to actively use the paper container ones.

So, for this Shinkansen trip, I decided to get a bento from "Oginoya" at GINZA SIX on the B2F floor. While "Oginoya" is known for their famous "Togei no Kamameshi," they actually offer a variety of other bento options as well. One that caught my eye this time was the "Ginza no Wappa Meshi," which comes in three different types of "wappa" containers. Among them, I chose the "Joushuu beef shigureni and Nozawana sae" (¥864), which looked particularly delicious. Unlike the Kamameshi, which can be a bit heavy and bulky, this type of bento seemed more suitable for enjoying on the Shinkansen. And indeed, when I tried it on the train, the Joushuu beef had a great flavor and the Nozawana had a unique taste and texture that was really delicious. Overall, this wappa meshi bento was not only tasty and easy to eat, but also quite affordable. It was definitely the right choice for this trip. I might just get another bento from here next time! ^^

Business hours: 10:30-20:30 Closed on: No regular holidays (following GINZA SIX schedule) [Menu] Pass Kettle Rice 1080 yen The store is located on the B2F of GINZA SIX, and the price was just 1000 yen (tax included) for a while, but starting from December 1st, 2018, it has been increased to 1080 yen (tax included). The kettle rice weighs about 1kg each, and there are also lighter paper containers available at the store. The Pass Kettle Rice is available at the store from 10:30 am, and around 2:30 pm, it is transported to the store. It will also be available at the Keio Ekiben Festival starting from today, the 9th (Wednesday), but considering the weight of the container, it might be tough to buy it there, so it's better to purchase it here.

I'm out and about in Ginza. As I mentioned in other reviews, there are a lot of foreigners in the Ginza area, and GinzaSix seems to cater to inbound customers with its entrance that feels like you're in a foreign country. I came here to buy a bento box in the basement, and I found myself stopping in front of a certain store. Ogino-ya 03-6263-9939 Tokyo, Chuo-ku, Ginza 6-10-1 GINZASIX B2F. Oh, it's Ogino-ya. This long-established store was founded in 1885, and they have been selling their famous Kamameshi for 60 years. I've bought it many times in these Mashiko-yaki pottery bowls. What? A seasonal limited edition Matsutake mushroom Kamameshi for 6,666 yen? That's way too expensive! I'm interested, but that's just not possible. So, I bought the 1,000 yen regular Kamameshi and headed home. It's always full of ingredients like chestnuts, quail eggs, shiitake mushrooms, burdock, green peas, apricot, chicken, and you can't even see the rice because it's so full. And the rice is cooked with Rishiri kelp and their original sauce, giving it a special flavor. It's always delicious no matter when you eat it. ...What should I use the bowl for?

It is a well-known restaurant that serves kama-meshi bento. There used to be a seller on the platform who sold to train passengers. I once saw kama-meshi bento being sold on a shinkansen or something. They also sell them at Ginza Six. One of the popular items at home is the sukiyaki bento made with Joshu beef, but they don't always have it in stock. So, I ended up getting the kama-meshi bento, but the taste was too strong for me, especially the mackerel.

I never expected there to be a shop at "GINZA SIX". In addition to kamameshi, there are various types of bento boxes available, and there is even an option to just get the rice from the kamameshi (500 yen). There are two types of kamameshi pots available: the traditional brown pot and the eco-friendly paper pot. I chose the lighter option as I had to carry it around for over an hour. It felt like a different experience, but when I opened it, the contents were exactly the same in both pots (in terms of taste and quantity). The chicken was actually more tender than usual. Both options cost 1000 yen. The paper pot comes with pickles inside.

Ogino-ya, famous for its kama-meshi (kettle rice), has opened a store in GINZA SIX, so I decided to stop by for a visit. Ogino-ya is a long-established restaurant with over 130 years of history. Their signature dish, the "kama-meshi of the pass," is celebrating its 60th anniversary. I purchased the "kama-meshi of the pass" for 926 yen. I chose the disposable pack instead of the ceramic pot because it's lighter and I wouldn't have to worry about what to do with it afterwards. The ingredients included bamboo shoots, chicken, burdock root, shiitake mushrooms, candied chestnuts, apricots, quail eggs, and green peas. It was quite filling, and I enjoyed every bite. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I ate pork tantan noodles and because of the capsaicin effect, I was sweating a lot. Sweat was dripping, oh middle-aged man in his fifties~ Wiping off the sweat, even taking off the aloha shirt. Is this Ginza? Actually, is this the jungle? Not caring about people's stares, let's move on to the next shop, oh middle-aged man in his fifties~♪ This time in Ginza, it's a "bar hopping" gourmet adventure. The main goal is here at "Oginoya's Pass Kamameshi"! Written in kanji as "Oginoya", this place is famous for its pass kamameshi at the Shinonoi Line Yokogawa Station. It's the same Oginoya that is now located at GINZA SIX in the heart of Ginza~ Every year, at the Keio Department Store Shinjuku, the station bento fair sells the "Pass Kamameshi", but the line is always long, so I usually skip it. However! This year was different! This year, I had to buy the "Pass Kamameshi" at the station bento fair even if I had to wait in line! Oginoya started as a station bento shop at Yokogawa Station~ When you think of Nagano, you think of the famous Zenkoji Temple. During the Zenkoji Temple's "Gokaicho" held once every seven years, the kamameshi's wrapping paper also becomes a "Gokaicho" version! And so, this year is the year of the Gokaicho? Well, that was just a prelude~ In fact, Oginoya's Pass Kamameshi is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year! Therefore, the wrapping paper is a "60th anniversary commemorative" version. As a train enthusiast and a bento enthusiast, I embarrassingly didn't notice this and skipped it. By the time I realized, the station bento fair was already over~ The bento sold at Shinjuku Station's bento shop is in a "plastic container"... To go out during Golden Week just for the wrapping paper would make the bento expensive... While contemplating, I suddenly remembered that I had checked "I want to go" to this place. If I inquire at the store, "reservation possible"♪ This way, I can achieve my goal without going to the actual place~ @Pass Kamameshi (60th Anniversary Commemorative Version wrapping paper) The taste doesn't change just because the wrapping paper is different. Even so, the stable and outstanding taste has been loved for 60 years. Bamboo shoots, burdock root, shiitake mushrooms, chicken, precious quail eggs, and candied chestnuts... all with a moderate seasoning that makes the rice in the pot delicious! And, which comes first, the shumai bento from Sakiyoken or the Pass Kamameshi? The dessert-like "apricot" that must absolutely be included in both bentos! The ceramic container from Mashiko-yaki, whether taken home to display or used as a small item container, of course, can also be used as a pot to cook rice! @Wappa Meshi in Ginza (Sauce Cutlet with Joshu Pork) Perhaps exclusive to Ginza's Oginoya? Given the location where bento boxes over 1000 yen are common, this reasonably priced bento is popular even among nearby office workers and OLs for their everyday lunch. - Sauce Cutlet with Joshu Pork - Joshu Beef with Beef Soboro - Three types of Chicken and Egg The lineup is well balanced with beef, pork, and chicken. The soft sauce-soaked Joshu pork cutlet~♪ With two pieces included, it's quite filling! This bento seems like it would become popular even if sold at a station!
