Braised pork bowl. It seems to have been well received at the racecourse. The braised pork is huge and very satisfying to eat. It's just delicious. The location is next to Kasuya-san. I think it's nice to have braised pork bowl while eating Kasu Udon. I might get too full to focus on the horse racing.

I visited this place after losing badly in the Derby, around early evening. I ordered "pork harami skewers" and "pork curry" as a comfort food. The pork harami was tender with a nice chewiness and delicious meaty flavor. The curry had fried garlic as a good accent, and it was tastier than I expected. Maybe it was also because of the atmosphere here. It helped heal the wounds from the bad Derby loss, but then I made a desperate attempt and ended up losing big in the 12th race, the Meguro Kinen, wiping out about half of the trifecta winnings I had from the NHK Mile earlier that day. It was my own fault, haha.

I had a pork belly bowl for lunch at the Tokyo Racecourse, which is currently holding races without spectators. Upon entry, there were temperature checks, alcohol disinfection, and mask requirements. Some areas offered alcoholic beverages like chu-hi and beer, where people enjoyed betting on horse races all day. However, these areas were mostly empty, so I passed through them. The second-floor stands were also sparsely populated. Surprisingly, there were areas with plenty of available seats. The atmosphere was calm, perfect for enjoying a beer in the breeze. Only a few food and drink stalls were open, and I ordered a pork belly bowl for 800 yen from a small shop on the second floor. The bowl was made of paper and contained rice topped with a large piece of pork belly, minced meat, half a boiled egg, and chopped green onions. It reminded me of Taiwanese braised pork rice. The pork belly had a lightly sweet and savory flavor, with tender meat and just the right amount of fat. It was not too heavy or greasy, making it easy to enjoy between studying racehorses. The combination of chewing the meat and mixing it with the sauce-covered rice was satisfying and convenient. Overall, it was a satisfying and affordable meal at the racetrack.

The braised pork bowl was delicious. The yuzu pepper added a nice accent.

Finally, the main race paddock is starting. But before that, let's have another drink to get pumped up with this snack (lol) - cheese-filled sweet potato tempura. It's actually really delicious. Now, which horse should we bet on? Whether we're drunk or sober, it doesn't guarantee a win anyway... The racing form guide is just like that.

Today is the 2018 Japanese Derby! I took the day off work yesterday to focus on my predictions! Got a call from the Keiba Ashis at 6 am! What? They're going to reserve seats, so come quickly! It felt like a sumo wrestler securing seats! A bit rushed, but that's okay (laughs). While on the way to the racecourse, I uploaded to Eat Log! There's a food shop inside the racetrack! Let's go! This day was the 2017 Autumn Tenno Sho! Kitasan Black smoothly passed from the inside and won the race in heavy rain! It was a great ride by jockey Yuichi Fukunaga! Here, you can eat shirokoro horumon! Beer is good! Sake is good too! You can easily access the grandstand, so it's great for a quick snack! The taste is good, with no unpleasant smell and a solid flavor of horumon! Among the horse racing foods, it's on the better side, I'd say. By the way, I successfully predicted the Autumn Tenno Sho! This was the start of my series of Triple Crown wins! Now, for today's Japanese Derby, I'll be celebrating with Kitano Commandeur, Blast Onepiece, and General Leono as the main contenders! Cheers to that!

The main race of the day is the G1 Japan Cup. On days when G1 races are held, there are many customers from the morning at the racecourse. When you arrive at the racecourse, the first thing to do is to eat something. There is only one shop located in the underground horse tunnel on the first floor of the Fuji View Stand at the Tokyo Racecourse, where you can see the weighing room. That shop is called "Butagoya." The signature dish is the pork simmered rice bowl, which won first place in the 2015 Tokyo Racecourse Gourmet Grand Prix. However, I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the pork simmered as a snack for 570 yen. When I received the snack pork simmered, I was a little surprised because the container was small. The quantity was small for the price of 570 yen. It's the price at the racecourse. However, the taste was very delicious.

Here we have a meat restaurant located right next to the room where jockeys weigh themselves. It's in a not so noticeable place, so many people may not know about it. So, I ordered a cola highball and some white collar hormone. The highball came in a small cup, but it had a strong flavor that hit me pretty quickly. The white collar hormone is the highlight here, it's really chewy. It takes about three minutes to finish just one piece. But once you start, it's hard to stop. While tender boiled and grilled hormone is good too, there's something special about this chewy texture. It's not exactly like Sapporo salted hormone, but if I had to compare, it's similar in terms of the chewing experience. The racecourse is a gourmet paradise with a beer garden! If you want to enjoy the night beer garden, head to Oi Racecourse. Well, it's already getting cold now though. Thanks for the meal.

At the fragrant Tokyo Racecourse, it's lunchtime. I went to the 1st floor of the Fuji View Stand in search of the "Pork Kakuni Don" that won first place at last year's "Tokyo Racecourse Gourmet Grand Prix". The Fuji View Stand overlooks the paddock on the 2nd floor, seamlessly connected to the Memorial Stand with natural undulations, giving the 1st floor a somewhat underground feel, even during lunch break, creating a hidden gem atmosphere. In front, there is always a crowd at the Tokyo Racecourse's famous "Horse Preview" where you can peek into the weighing room. This place specializes in pork curry and grilled pork tongue. The signature "Pork Kakuni Don" costs 790 yen. I received a round paper cup and sat at a red stand table. On top of the white rice, there were various sizes of tender pork kakuni, a half-cut stewed egg, and white leeks. The pork kakuni, with just the right amount of flavor, was soft and complemented by the yuzu pepper provided as a spicy accent, making it quite satisfying. The stewed egg was also a pleasant surprise, and the portion was larger than I had imagined from the paper cup's appearance. However, at 790 yen, it's still the typical racecourse price, but I understand they have to make their earnings in just two days a week on weekends. Thanks for the meal.

Tokyo Racecourse is like a theme park for adults. Adults come here with eyes sparkling like children at Disneyland. The sight of people immersed in excitement is beautiful. In the past, racecourses had a bad reputation, but now it's full of couples, young women, families, and even groups of older women. It seems to be gaining acceptance among the late majority. And there are plenty of B-class gourmet options here. Of course, there are many restaurants including Hotel Okura, but what if you tried a full course of B-class gourmet at the racecourse? So, I tried it out. At the first floor of Fuji View Stand, there's "Buta-ya". They also have a shop on the 2nd floor (not listed on Tabelog). Their specialty is the trotter's simmered pork bowl and freshly grilled juicy pork skewers. The full course starts with an amuse-bouche. The pork cheek skewer costs 200 yen and the draft beer costs 550 yen. The draft beer is Asahi Super Dry. The pork cheek skewer was quite small for 200 yen, but maybe that's the racecourse price. It was a bit disappointing, but as an amuse-bouche, it was just right. A pork cheek skewer as an amuse-bouche with a draft beer as an aperitif... Next, onto "2. Appetizers".

On February 20, 2010 (Saturday), I went to Tokyo Racecourse. There is a restaurant near the "Horse Preview" on the 1st floor of the Fuji View Stand. As the name suggests, this restaurant serves "pork dishes". For lunch, I had the "Pork Belly Bowl (770 yen)" and the "Pork Curry (550 yen)". There were standing tables right in front, but I wanted to eat in a more relaxed manner, so I took the food to my seat. The pork belly bowl had large chunks of meat, about 5-6 pieces, with sliced white leeks on top. The simmered egg was also flavorful. The pork belly itself was tender and well-seasoned, making it delicious. However, personally, I wished there was more sauce or seasoning. I ended up with leftover rice. The pork curry came with Fukujin pickles. The curry was tasty, but the pork pieces were small. The pork pieces were finely diced on top of the rice, and I felt they were very small and not enough. I honestly wished there was a bit more. They also had a variety of pork skewers like belly and loin, so I would like to try those next time.

This restaurant is located on the first floor of the Fuji View Stand at the Tokyo Racecourse, near the Horse Preview area, and mainly offers dishes made with pork. They have a variety of pork dishes such as pork kakuni bowl, pork curry, and pork skewers. I ordered the pork kakuni bowl and it was delicious, with large pieces of tenderly cooked pork belly that was well seasoned. Please note that they are not open during Park Wins, so be careful when planning your visit.

I tried the Hormone Yaki. It was served on a bed of bean sprouts. The portion was not very big, but the seasoning was good and it was delicious.
