Title: Longing for the Resurrection of Rameck! Manbou @ Komagata
We, Tokyo Hormones, are a group of food enthusiasts who are obsessed with dishes like mentaiko mochi cheese monjayaki, mochi cheese mentaiko monjayaki, and cheese mochi mentaiko monjayaki. We are not picky eaters. Longing for the resurrection of Rameck! A story about Manbou @ Komagata. Our typical order includes one monjayaki dish, two to three side dishes, and one okonomiyaki dish. Occasionally, we finish with an anko roll. I love monjayaki so much that I would travel all the way to Tsukishima for it, but I know there are plenty of good shops in Asakusa too. However, on this day, I learned something new for the first time. It turns out that the Tsukishima style is to build up the edges of the monja. When we were kids, the monjayaki we ate cost around one hundred yen, with just a handful of cabbage as the filling. We never built up the edges. I only found out about this as an adult. Oh, and the container was a stainless steel measuring cup. On days when I had extra pocket money, I would splurge and add some cherio. Since it didn't come with any flavor, I would drown it in sauce, but the sauce on the table had very little in it, so I couldn't use too much. That's why I had to resist the cherio and mix in two bags of Rameck. Nowadays, there are even baby star monjayaki, but back when we were in elementary school, baby star was a luxury item. If the me from back then saw the photo above, I would probably get so excited that my nose would bleed. Oh, and did you have anko rolls when you were young? I feel like I only learned about them as an adult. And matcha anko rolls, too. Matcha anko rolls... (laughs) I preferred the penis rolls. Oh, I mean the male rolls (laughs).
