I visited the restaurant on a Saturday morning just before noon, almost right when it opened, so there were few customers. I bought the Millennium Ramen at the ticket machine. After waiting for a little over 3 minutes, my ramen arrived. First, I took a sip of the soup, which had a slightly strong and good aroma, a rich and classic tonkotsu broth. The noodles were thin as expected for tonkotsu ramen, but the firmness was not asked so I assume this is the normal type? I personally prefer them a bit firmer. The toppings were plentiful with 3 sheets of seaweed, a boiled egg, wood ear mushrooms, pickled mustard greens, green onions, 3 slices of chashu, and minced meat. The amount of toppings for this price was quite generous, especially considering the rising cost of ingredients. The portion of noodles was a bit small, but the option for a 50 yen extra noodle refill was a great deal. They also offer a variety of options and it seems like a place you could visit frequently. However, the location is a bit inconvenient, and the shorter business hours may be a bit strict. Anyway, thank you for the meal.

I tried eating at the recommended restaurant three times. Soup: The soup has a gentle and refreshing taste, similar to hot water with a pork bone flavor. The portion is on the smaller side, but you can order extra soup if needed. It is served lukewarm, making it suitable for those with sensitive taste buds or children. Noodles: The noodles have a unique texture, with a slight raw and powdery feel. The saltiness can vary from day to day, adding to its character. Ingredients: The default boiled egg is firm, but you can also request a soft-boiled egg. The chashu pork is light and not greasy, with a hint of pork flavor still present. The seaweed has a subtle flavor, making it suitable for those who are not fond of a strong seaweed taste. Extra noodles: The unique texture of the noodles, with clumps of flour, is a standout feature. The default soup portion is small, allowing you to enjoy soupless noodles as well. When ordering extra noodles, they are placed in the bowl along with an aluminum plate. The soup temperature reaches a warm level after adding noodles, showing the attention to detail in maintaining the soup's temperature. Overall, it is a very affordable and convenient restaurant to visit. The sound of the microwave echoing in the store adds to the depth of noodle dishes served. Goodbye.

I visited again. Feeling a bit hungry, I decided to revisit this place after about six months. Last time I had the "Millennium Ramen," but this time I tried the regular ramen. The soup had a unique flavor, which I think might be reminiscent of old-school tonkotsu ramen. It's a taste that might not be for everyone, but I personally enjoyed it. The noodles were thin and the toppings included chashu, boiled egg, wood ear mushrooms, and seaweed, all of which paired well with the soup. The cost of this ramen is not just one coin, but two coins, which I think is a great value for the quality. I will definitely visit again.

I had the 1000-year-old ramen for 700 yen. It was before 12 o'clock on a weekday and the place was crowded with customers. I opted for the "special" version of the ramen, with extra default toppings like pickled vegetables, additional boiled egg, more seaweed, and extra meat which cost an additional 200 yen. I forgot to add chili oil for 50 yen, which was a mistake. The pork slices in the ramen had a strong gamey flavor, which made it a bit difficult for me to eat. I'll keep this record for future reference. It could be due to the season or my own health condition. I'll try it again when it gets colder.

The other day, I had a bitter experience at a chain store near the station, and in need of something refreshing, but the lunch service ended 5 minutes before I arrived. I was craving for a pork bone ramen with plenty of dried mushrooms, but when I went to a certain store, they didn't have the option for dried mushrooms! Feeling out of sorts, I couldn't get the idea of pork bone ramen with dried mushrooms out of my head. I adjusted my time while searching and shopping, and entered the store right when it opened. I knew what I wanted to eat, so surprisingly, I smoothly bought a meal ticket (laughs). I handed in the ticket and quenched my dry throat with a beer, but oh, they didn't have any appetizers available. Can I use the toppings as appetizers? Judging from the lack of additional topping options like extra pork, it seemed like a no-go. Since it was my first time at the restaurant, I didn't know how things worked, so I patiently waited for the ramen to be ready. In about 5 minutes, the bowl arrived. The fragrant aroma of pork bone and sesame oil filled the air. I quickly took a photo, slurped the soup, and was hit by the rich flavor of the pork bone soup and the garlic scent of the sesame oil. Next, I slurped the noodles. The aroma of wheat and the firmness of the noodles, along with the crunchy texture of the dried mushrooms, made me happy. I paired the ramen with beer and enjoyed the enhanced flavor of the beer due to the richness of the pork bone and sesame oil. When I finished about a quarter of the noodles, I called for a "noodle refill" - an amazing 50 yen! Thanks to their homemade noodles, they were able to offer such a deal. The fact that they had options like half noodles (30 yen) and extra-large portion (90 yen) for noodle refills was also thanks to their homemade noodles. The noodle refill arrived on an aluminum plate. From here, I wanted to change the flavor... Huh? Huh? I couldn't find the "original sauce for ramen" or the best friend of pork bone ramen, "pickled ginger" - no customization options like garlic or pickled ginger? The heavy second round without flavor changes was indeed challenging. Unfortunately, the lack of pickled ginger and appetizers left me wanting more. I enjoyed the mountain of dried mushrooms on the pork bone ramen, satisfied my cravings, but felt like the conclusion was lacking the finishing touch.

I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant that I have passed by many times before. It turns out that this place is known for being frequented by a certain comedian, namely Bakin King's Kotoge. He used to live in Chofu and apparently visited this place often, but it seems like he was turned down when he tried to do a feature on it. I ordered the Chitose Ramen and an extra serving of noodles. The prices here are quite reasonable compared to other places. The interior of the restaurant is well-organized with dividers between each seat, and I particularly liked the small round plates for placing the food tickets. The appearance of the restaurant may not be the best, but the kitchen is clean and well-prepared. The Chitose Ramen I had was classic-style tonkotsu broth with a bit of a unique taste. The noodles were thin, and the toppings included 3 slices of chashu, boiled egg, mustard greens, green onions, and 2 sheets of seaweed. The balance between the soup and toppings was just right, and overall, it was a delicious meal. Eating this kind of ramen may not make you live for a thousand years, but with a balanced diet, it might help you live longer.

Lately, I've been feeling like the pork bone broth is losing its richness and the saltiness is getting stronger. I was hoping it was just a temporary dip in quality, but I go there about three times a week so I'm not so sure. I'm hoping it's just due to factors like the rise in wheat prices or the weakening yen. It's a bit of a shock since I go there often. The photo is of the spicy mustard greens ramen. I really hope that deep richness comes back.

Today I went to Senen Ramen for lunch. This place is known for its tonkotsu ramen, and my friend from Fukuoka recommended it to me. The interior of the restaurant had a traditional ramen shop atmosphere, and even though it was lunchtime, it wasn't too crowded. I ordered the Senen Ramen, which cost 700 yen. The regular ramen was 600 yen, making this place relatively wallet-friendly. The ramen arrived quickly after I ordered. The noodles were thin, which I like, and they paired well with the rich tonkotsu broth. It was delicious. I also ordered a half portion for an extra 50 yen. Overall, I left feeling surprisingly full even though I initially thought I might need more noodles.

Arrival was at 19:54. Currently, there is a major outbreak of the coronavirus, with over 10,000 cases per day in Tokyo for a week straight, and over 70,000 cases nationwide in Japan. Preventative measures are being taken. Due to this, there were no customers in the restaurant before 8:00 PM, but since it was still within business hours, I expected good service. When I bought my ticket from the machine, the staff came close just as I was about to hand it over, and they told me to leave it on the table instead. It felt quite cold. The ramen I ordered was not good at all, in fact, it was bad. There was no pickled ginger or garlic on the table. I found it surprising that a restaurant could operate for so long with this kind of food and service. I will definitely not be returning.

Chofu City, Tokyo, Kojima-cho. A Kyushu tonkotsu ramen shop known for its unique, fresh-like noodles. Established in 1996, it is considered a longstanding ramen shop in Chofu. The nearest station is Chofu Station on the Keio Line, about a 7-8 minute walk along Shinagawa Street. My top four favorite ramen shops from my student days are Kichijoji's "Dokutsu-ya" specializing in house-style ramen, "Musashi-ya" in Kokuryo, "Kenmonroku" in Tsutsujigaoka serving Chinese soba, and here at "Sennen Ramen" specializing in Kyushu tonkotsu. I have visited this place over 20 times, but looking at my history, it has been about 4 years since my last visit. The influence of Retty, Tabelog, Google Maps, and others is quite significant. I'm sorry, China. Inside the store, there is a ticket machine on the right. The L-shaped counter seats surround the kitchen, and it is relatively spacious for a ramen shop. The owner is still managing alone as before. At 12:30 pm, there were many customers coming in. Today's order: Half-boiled flavored egg ramen for 600 yen with an extra large noodle refill (2 servings) for 90 yen. The default amount of noodles and soup is small, so getting an extra noodle refill is a must. When I was in my 20s, the first noodle refill used to be free. The light tonkotsu soup goes well with the straight thin noodles that resemble fresh noodles. This is it, Sennen Ramen! On days when they serve extra firm noodles, the almost raw texture is irresistible. Of course, it's not actually raw; it's just cooked for a few seconds to be edible (according to the shop's explanation). Running a ramen shop for over 25 years is no easy feat. The owner, who was probably in his 20s when the shop opened, is now in his 50s (initially, I think someone else was the owner), and although we haven't had many conversations, I feel a sense of familiarity from continuing to visit. Looking forward to more visits in the future. #LocalSupport2021Winter⑬ #13thBowl2022 #MySoulFood #Gyo! Gyo! After the uncle's gathering, I was told that I would be taken to try delicious ramen in Chofu that I have never eaten before. When I mentioned that I had just eaten at "Take-chan Niboshi," they said, "Then let me take you to try the best tonkotsu ramen that will last for a thousand years." The place they took me to had a unique oriental atmosphere with only 10% of the seats occupied on a weekend night. The ramen cost 550 yen and was cheap, light, lukewarm, and easy to eat, with tonkotsu broth and thin straight noodles. There were mysterious and strange writings about the noodles posted inside the restaurant. I have to come back two more times!

I came back home after a long time and decided to stop by my favorite, Senen Ramen. Of course, I ordered the Senen Ramen. I was surprised to see that the menu had expanded. I took a bite. Oh, the taste hasn't changed, the soup is still rich. Thank you for the meal.

I had the 1000-year ramen with extra chili oil for 750 yen during weekday lunch time. The restaurant was about 70% full. The ramen with extra chili oil added had a more intense and flavorful taste. Upgrading to the "1000-year" ramen option comes with extra toppings like pickled vegetables, seaweed, and more meat, making it a luxurious choice. The noodles were unique with a crispy texture. Overall, the restaurant has a distinctive and sincere approach to their dishes. While the flavors may not be refined, it offers an interesting interpretation of tonkotsu ramen. Since moving, this has become my go-to ramen spot. Looking forward to visiting again.

The price is reasonable and the tonkotsu ramen is decent, but there is nothing particularly special about it. I would go if it's nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. The soup and chashu are tender and tasty, but the seaweed lacks flavor and the thin noodles overpower the tonkotsu soup. Charging extra for garlic (10 yen) is a downside. The boiled eggs were just plain boiled eggs and there were only two of them. I was really hoping for more... it was not worth the extra 50 yen. Disappointing.

Visited the restaurant again on November 10, 2019. After drinking, I stopped by Senen Ramen. The time of the visit was around 10 pm and I was the only customer. I ordered ramen today. The food arrived in about 1 minute. I was hesitant between getting Moyashi Ramen, but since I was already drinking, I chose a simple ramen. The Char Siu, egg, and seaweed in Senen Ramen were in a smaller portion but the cost performance was sufficient. By the way, I ended up eating two extra servings (extra firm, extra noodles) and became quite full.

Visited the restaurant again on August 2, 2019. After drinking in Chofu and walking back, I felt a little hungry so I decided to stop by Senen Ramen for the first time in a while. I arrived around 10pm and there was only one other customer in the restaurant. I ordered the Spicy Niku Takana Ramen. The dish arrived in about 1 minute. I usually eat the regular Senen Ramen with all the toppings, but this time I chose the Spicy Niku Takana Ramen. The addition of takana made it spicier like other tonkotsu ramen, but with minced meat in it, it had a slight tantanmen flavor which I personally found more delicious than the regular ramen. Of course, I also ordered an extra serving of noodles. I completed my meal with a Moyashi Ramen (laughs).

Chofu City, Tokyo, Ojima-cho. I have been coming here for over 10 years. Before starting Tabelog and Retty, I used to visit once a month. The owner probably recognizes me, but we have never really talked before. However, this time, for the first time maybe? I asked about the boiling time and we talked about Hakata ramen, which made me happy (´^ω^) It was a weekday after 1 pm, with 3 customers before me and no customers after. The owner was handling everything alone. I remember that his wife used to work with him in the past φ(.. ) Along Shinagawa Street, the nearest station is Chofu, but it's quite far, so it's not too crowded even during lunchtime. The interior is quite spacious with an L-shaped counter, a large kitchen, and a homemade noodle factory at the back. There are decorations in an Indian or Nepalese style. Today's order: Spicy meat and pickled vegetable noodles for 550 yen, extra noodles x2 for 50 yen each. The ticket machine has been updated. The default ramen is 500 yen. It's a steal (^-^)/ I have been ordering the spicy pickled vegetable noodles for over 10 years. I tried the "Millennium Ramen" last time for show, but this one is the best d(^-^) The spicy meat and pickled vegetable with pork bone soup and thin noodles go really well together. There's a sign above the kitchen saying "Oh! These noodles are still raw! They haven't been boiled yet! Gyo Gyo Gyo~" which is quite unique. This time, I asked for extra noodles to be firm, and they were indeed like raw noodles. But, they are delicious (*´∀`)♪ However, it may not be for everyone's taste. The style has remained the same since the opening, and I look forward to more in the future (*´・ω-)b #Honke #Gyo Gyo Gyo #Noodles like raw #One coin #Hakata ramen #Kumamoto ramen #Ramen #Gyoza #Next time, I'll try the white sesame pork ramen #Next time, I'll try the iron pot gyoza #The content of this post is as of April 2018 #The extra noodles are still 50 yen as of February 2023.

When I entered the kitchen, I saw a big pot! I visited Senen Ramen. There was a strong emphasis on noodles in the kitchen. And underneath was a huge pot. Is it for simmering the soup? They say you'll get addicted after eating it three times... First, I tried the soup... It tasted like Nagahama Ramen. The noodles were authentic, but... it wasn't delicious. I started to doubt my own taste buds... I added some soy sauce from the table to adjust the flavor... It got slightly better... maybe... Eating it three times might be too much... Thank you for the meal...

It had been a long time since I last went to Mecha Kucha. The taste was different from what I remembered. In terms of cost performance in this day and age, it was amazing. The unique noodles were good. The soup used to have a bit more richness and saltiness, I felt, which was a bit disappointing. I tried to cover it up with pepper, but it felt different somehow. Maybe it was just a one-off.
