I heard that this bread was made with margarine, so I wasn't planning on buying it. However, since there was no longer a long line, I decided to give it a try. I didn't make a reservation! When I opened the bag, a nice smell of bread filled the air. It wasn't the strong smell of butter, but rather a gentle, nostalgic scent. The bread is dense yet fluffy and very delicious. When torn, it cleanly rips apart straight due to its fine texture. At first, I used a bread knife to slice it, but tearing it by hand might preserve the texture better. However, the crust is not particularly outstanding, somewhat reminiscent of Pasco's overripe bread. I used to advocate for eating bread as is, but eating just the crust part was a bit tough, so I decided to toast it. The crispy crust was incredibly tasty! Next time, I'll definitely toast the end crust part. Nowadays, there are many specialty bread shops, but they all seem to be overly sweet. I prefer a normal bread that goes well with ham and eggs, stew, or salad, so I really liked this bread. It has a sugar content of around 15%, making it an excellent choice for a meal bread. Previously, I believe they only sold a whole loaf (2 pounds), but this time they were selling half a loaf (1 pound), which was more convenient. However, I really dislike that they use margarine. Although it's a bit cheaper, the price of 450 yen per pound is not particularly cheap, so... I might prefer a trustworthy bread like Pasco's domestically grown overripe bread (made with domestic wheat and no margarine) at 300 yen per pound. If this margarine is trans fat-free, then I can feel a bit more at ease, but since it's not specified, I assume it's just regular margarine.
