There are many delicious restaurants in this area, so I wandered around and was drawn to this restaurant by the red lantern. I sat at the counter alone and ordered hiyayakko (cold tofu), macaroni salad, harami (skirt steak), chicken thigh, chorizo x2, pickled ginger roll, ginkgo nuts, eggplant, pork-wrapped bell peppers with cheese, and quail. I also had draft beer and shochu highball. The total came to ¥3,790. The pickled ginger roll was delicious. Everything else was also tasty. I left feeling full and quite satisfied. Thank you for the meal. It was a bit of a detour, but the restaurant is only about a 2-minute walk from the station. As far as I could see inside, there were 10 counter seats and several table seats in the back. The interior was decorated with lots of figures and had a quirky, unpretentious atmosphere that I liked. I really enjoyed the unique and casual izakaya vibe. The counter was a bit narrow, but it had a very calming feel. The red lantern really sets the mood. I would recommend this place for solo drinkers or for close friends or couples. It's also great for those who want to smoke while drinking. Smoking is allowed at the seats.

I visited around March 2023 and both the skewers and side dishes were reasonably priced and delicious! Celery for only 150 yen!? I wish there was a store like this near my house. They say you have to order at least 2 items, but it's not a problem if you don't order too much at first! I would love to go back if I'm in the area again!!

I visited this restaurant around 10:30 pm for my fourth stop of the night. The interior had a lot of character with figures packed everywhere! I didn't realize until I entered that smoking was allowed. I sat at the counter. The skewers are 100 yen each, but you have to order them in multiples. Other than that, you can order just one skewer at a time. Shiitake mushrooms are 150 yen each, and the food menu is very reasonably priced! Drinks like green tea highball are around 450 yen. The waitress was very cheerful and friendly, but unfortunately, I heard someone who seemed to be the chef scolding loudly in the kitchen, which was disappointing. Perhaps because smoking is allowed, the clientele seemed to be mostly middle-aged and older men, with many regular customers. We stayed for about an hour and spent around 3,000 yen for two people. It's a budget-friendly izakaya where you can enjoy cheap and tasty grilled skewers!

I was surprised by the affordability of the motsuyaki at Motsuyaki Daisengaku University Kushi. Almost everything, including motsuyaki, is priced at around 100 yen. They even have Gatsu sashimi and Kobukuro sashimi for 100 yen. The meat is really juicy, tender, and sweet. I was especially amazed by the liver steak. Look at the size difference! The bill came out to around 1,500 to 2,000 yen per person. The interior of the restaurant is very unique and interesting. I definitely want to go back.

According to the pre-reviews on Tabelog, the same restaurant is from Kappa and opened in May 2009, with a new branch in Shinbashi in October 2021. The Tokyo motsu-yaki scene is considered to be better in the east and not as good in the west, but this restaurant is surprisingly good for a western location. However, due to its location near Gakugeidaigaku, there are a few restrictions. Firstly, a seating fee of 100 yen is charged, and a minimum order of 100 yen per person is required. The bill amount ends in 5 yen, indicating that it includes tax. The unclear billing system is a bit concerning (otherwise, the rating for this restaurant would have been above 3.5). Additionally, when adding extra dishes, a minimum of two different dishes must be ordered (even if it's 2 pieces of the same dish). For example, even if two people order and enjoy the Kobukuro sashimi, if they request 2 pieces of Gatsu sashimi, the order will not be accepted because it doesn't meet the requirement of ordering two different dishes. Despite these restrictions, it is a good and affordable restaurant. The restaurant has about 20 seats in total, including a straight counter with 10 seats and 10 table seats. I visited on a holiday night! I was lucky to get in without a reservation. The grilled motsu (offal) starts at 100 yen per skewer. The portions are quite large, and very reasonably priced. I had plans for a second stop so I ate and drank quickly, but I thought it was a convenient motsu-yaki (grilled offal) restaurant! Thank you for the meal!

Grilled intestines are mostly 100 yen per skewer! (Guts sashimi is also 100 yen!) The portions are not small and they are delicious! This is an amazing restaurant!! I will definitely visit again! They are open from 5 pm now. Thank you for the meal!!

Exit at Gakugei-daigaku Station and head towards Yutenji along the railway tracks. Turn left onto the bus street and you will find this restaurant at the first corner. The store has a traditional pub-style appearance, but both the exterior and interior are clean. Sit at the counter inside the store. The variety of yakitori is quite rich, but on this day, they had limited options as they were going to temporarily close the next day. I ordered 4 pieces of yakitori omakase. I started with a cold beer, which helped me relax. The pickled Chinese cabbage that came with the yakitori was served quickly, and it was delicious. After finishing the beer, I ordered a Hoppy, and the grilled items arrived. There were liver, cartilage, chicken head, and chicken white meat. The liver and cartilage were salted, with the liver being slightly raw and delicious. The cartilage had a good texture that paired well with the salt. Hoppy definitely goes well with yakitori. The cartilage and chicken white meat were marinated, with the crunchy texture of the cartilage always being delicious. The chicken white meat also had its own deliciousness that matched well with the marinade. I had 4 pieces of yakitori with pickled Chinese cabbage, a beer, and 4 glasses of Hoppy. It was affordable and the food was delicious. I would like to visit this restaurant again and enjoy a leisurely meal.

We stopped by after work with a colleague. The staff at the shop were bright and friendly, and they had a vibe like old classmates. It's a great atmosphere. I had my favorite drink, Galichu. They had a good selection of alcoholic drinks at average prices. As for the food we ordered, here are a few highlights: - Pickled Chinese cabbage: It was more than just pickled cabbage, with added cut kombu and spiciness from chili peppers. It was a well-crafted dish that exceeded my expectations and was delicious. - Grilled organ meat skewers: We ordered all the organ meat skewers except for the tsukune. We chose recommended items like shiro, liver, and the fatty part around the intestines. They were all delicious, especially the recommended ones. Shiro had a unique texture and flavor, the liver was juicy and not gamey, and the fatty part was melt-in-your-mouth good without being greasy. The staff mentioned they could customize the seasoning for each skewer, so we went with their recommendations. Both the sauce and salt were delicious, so I felt confident in trusting their recommendations. - Makani-don: A rice bowl with grilled chicken, kimchi, and seaweed. The flavor of the grilled chicken sauce soaked into the rice was delicious, and dishes like this are always a hit. Overall, we ate quite a bit and spent 5,500 yen for two people. It was great value for money. The grilled organ meat was light and paired well with drinks.

Actually, I was planning to go to the bar on the 2nd floor, but I accidentally entered the 1st floor instead haha. However, the food looked delicious so I decided to order a variety of yakitori! It seemed like a place known for its motsu (offal), but I ordered harami, kashiwa (thigh), kawa, tsukune, pork belly, etc. I asked for shio, tare, and miso sauces to be chosen for me. The flavors were all rich and delicious! The table next to me happened to be a bit loud and large in number, but the food was tasty, cheap, and the service was energetic! Thank you for the meal!

Daizen @ Gakugei-daigaku After a long time, I went to Daizen in Gakugei-daigaku, which is right near the station. Every time I catch a whiff of the yakitori smoke outside the shop, I can't help but feel like going in for a drink (laughs). At the counter, there are rows of Ultraman monsters from the good old days lined up. As a Showa-born second-wave baby boomer, these figures are right up my alley. In the back, there are table seats where families with young children were also dining. I sat at the counter and started off with a beer and some potato salad and simmered giblets, which were delicious! The main yakitori skewers are only a hundred yen each and they are cheap and tasty! It's the best! The menu items like chicken tail are not listed, so it's good to check the ones posted on the wall! Well, the staff will also recommend them to you (laughs).

I haven't had yakitori much lately, so today I came to eat motsuyaki at a restaurant in Gakugeidaigaku. The restaurant opens at 6:00 PM, and I arrived right at that time. About 5 groups of people came in after me. I started with beer and ordered 5 recommended motsuyaki dishes, potato salad, and gatsu sashimi. Oh, I forgot about motsu stew, so I tried to add it to my order, but they said I had to order at least 2 items for an add-on. The waiter saw my situation and kindly let me add just one more item. First, I had the potato salad and gatsu sashimi. The potato salad was pretty standard but had lots of ingredients like carrots and cucumbers, making it satisfying. The gatsu sashimi came on skewers, which was a bit surprising. It's cheap and comes out quickly, so there's definitely a demand for it, but you could probably skip it. Then the motsu stew arrived, and I'm glad I added it. It had plenty of motsu and a rich white miso-based soup that was delicious. The motsuyaki was tender and went well with beer. I switched to hoppy halfway through and also enjoyed the shiro, sagari, kasira, and harami skewers. Don't underestimate the 100 yen lottery for skewers, they were all delicious.

I came back again!! This time craving for yakitori!! Why is it so delicious that I can't help but eat it? It's a mystery!! I couldn't resist being tempted by this sauce... At Geidai, there are several places known for motsu-yaki, but this one offers a wide variety of rare cuts and has a strong sense of expertise. Whenever I pass by the smoky and fragrant storefront on the bus street, I can't help but be drawn in. Luckily, I saw some empty seats at the counter, so I decided to go in without resistance. Of course, the menu mainly consists of motsu-yaki, so I ordered about 5 skewers. I paired it with a glass of Hoppy White and struggled to choose a side dish to fill the gap. There was a variety of options on the menu, including macaroni salad. I asked if they had it, and they did! I quickly ordered it, and it had a unique taste with corn in it. It left a strong impression on me. The motsu-yaki was gradually served, starting with kikubura and kashira. The fatty selections filled my brain with satisfaction. Next, I enjoyed chiresuji with a thick sauce. I wonder how many skewers I ate this time. I felt a sense of hunger or fulfillment from eating motsu, which pushed my dining experience to the next level. The finale was hara miso with a crispy exterior and a juicy interior, creating a texture paradise. I couldn't stop eating. I ordered more. The Hoppy kept me going. I continued with nankotsu mix! This combination is dangerous! The counter seats were surrounded by Ultraman, creating a nostalgic atmosphere not only in terms of food but also in terms of ambiance from the Showa era. I still can't quite get used to the Reiwa era. Needless to say, the food was delicious and quite reasonable. I might increase my frequency of visits. Thank you for the meal.

I have been occasionally visiting around the Gakugeidaigaku Station recently. This place has always caught my attention. In addition to tare-yaki and shio-yaki, they also have miso-yaki. Although there is an additional charge, it is exquisite. Despite being reasonably priced, the meat is handled properly, so I highly recommend it! I will visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by for a quick drink. It's a bit of a walk from Tokyu Gakugei-daigaku Station. If you go left from Minami Capsule & Sauna, you'll find this yakitori restaurant that is bustling even late at night. The yakitori here is big and well-made, and only costs 100 yen each. They also have some unusual cuts of meat. It's easy on the wallet and perfect for a casual meal. I ended up having another drink at the sauna's dining area, so I'll do my best again tomorrow.

I had always been curious about this motsu-yaki (grilled offal) restaurant near my school. Every time I walked by, I saw smoke billowing out and I just knew the food must be delicious. And in this day and age, motsu-yaki for only 100 yen per skewer! Such a great deal! The staff even said it's a steal. And the food is so tasty - especially the liver. I used to think pork liver would have a strong smell, but it's not the case at all! I should have known it was beef or chicken liver. I can't wait to go back, maybe even today! (laughs)

In this day and age, the variety of grilled meats offered for 100 yen is incredibly cheap! Despite the low price, the meat portions are not small at all. For first-timers, I recommend trying the recommended meat - you can't go wrong. However, the ventilation inside the restaurant is really poor, so your clothes will end up smelling pretty bad haha (I think this is possible because they didn't spend too much money on facilities to keep the prices low). Eating and drinking here, you would usually spend 7,000 to 8,000 yen in a regular shop in Gakugeidaigaku, but here it's in the 5,000 yen range... surprising, right? The manager is working hard with a small profit margin. It's always popular, so no need to worry, but I hope this kind of shop doesn't disappear, so I will continue to visit in the future.

The yakitori skewers were delicious and only 100 yen each. The drinks were around 500 yen. It was a bit hectic as there were two men splitting the bill, but overall it was a delicious restaurant.
