The lunch set meal costs 790 yen. It's not exactly like the traditional downtown Tokyo vibe. Surprisingly, it feels more like the western area along the Chuo Line rather than the dry atmosphere of the eastern side of Tokyo. This might be because most universities in Tokyo are located in the west, attracting students and part-time workers to the cozy atmosphere of the diner run by the friendly auntie. The neighboring Abe-chan's place has more of a traditional downtown feel, with a sense of community. The messy interior might give off a downtown vibe, but it's more like a place to go when you crave home-cooked meals. The mackerel might be frozen as it feels a bit dry despite being fatty, and the tofu in the miso soup was a bit cold. It's like eating a home-cooked meal.

I headed to Azabu-Juban station on the Toei Oedo Line. After strolling around Azabu-Juban, I decided to take a short break and dropped by a small izakaya called "Juban no Obachan". The sign outside the shop says "Fuji", but it might be a takeover. Inside the shop, there was a unique female manager and a male assistant. The 1st floor is a standing bar space, and the 2nd floor has table seats. I ordered a draft beer, a jumbo serving of oden, and a mixed oden platter. The oden included two daikon radishes, konjac, egg, and chikuwa. The broth was light in color, and the flavor soaked well into the daikon. I enjoyed the loop of beer and oden and finished my meal. Thank you for the meal. The exploration continues.

I found an event called "Hopping from the Ten Aunties" and visited the shop. The aunties were lively and fun! They served sour drinks in glasses chilled in the freezer, which was irresistible! There were several flavors to choose from and you could mix them as you like. I followed the auntie's recommendation and ordered the mackerel miso. It was perfectly rich in flavor, and the drinks kept flowing. It made me crave some white rice. It really felt like "coming back to the countryside." I attended the event this time, but I'm curious about what the shop is like on a regular day. I was surprised to find such a homey place in the stylish neighborhood of Azabu-Juban. I'll definitely go back to see the aunties again!

This is a cozy and friendly restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere, run by a friendly older lady. The interior is not very spacious and has low ceilings, but I personally love the melancholic vibe, the welcoming staff, and the delicious and comforting taste of the oden.

At that time, can't you choose the menu? I often get told, "You can't do that!" but in return, it seems like you have a lot of freedom, such as being able to bring food from nearby places. On this day, I was invited to the birthday table next to me (there were already acquaintances there) and received a lot of treats. The last chicken wing dumplings (I wonder where they got them from?) were delicious, so I can't help but be curious about the restaurant they came from! For small groups or individuals, there is a counter on the first floor, and for larger groups, there is a table in the attic on the second floor. It seems to be the usual setup. Even if you're not a regular, you have to get your own wet towel and ashtray. Regulars help each other out with things like bringing up and down beer mugs and plates, paying the bill, and getting receipts. Thank you for the meal!

This place may be a gathering of kind-hearted, slightly lonely people who care for each other like mothers care for their aunts. Climbing up and down the steep stairs every day is tough, so they do what they can by themselves like preparing, cleaning up, providing hand towels and ashtrays. Additionally, they even help each other out, like when customers from the first floor bring food or receipts up to the second floor. From this natural mutual assistance, a unique community has been formed at Auntie's restaurant. Yes, it's wonderful. Auntie's restaurant is the best. I'll definitely come back! Thank you for the meal!

Auntie, anything goes?! It's so cozy, feels like drinking at home haha. The counter on the first floor is cool, but the table seats on the second floor, like an attic, are perfect for hanging out with friends! I always wanted to visit, and my first time was for the birthday boy and his vintage wine (I thought it was white but it was red! lol) We even brought in some spiny lobsters for them to cook. Even though it was our first meeting, we already felt like friends from the start haha Auntie, we'll definitely be back! ☆

Found a shop in a side street of Abenchan with a blunt sign that simply read "Obachan of Juuban." It seemed suspicious, making me hesitate to enter alone. However, seeing attractive men and women enjoying drinks at the counter made me think it might be a decent place after all. So, I nodded to my companions and we decided to go in. It was a self-service place where you pour your own drinks. As the name suggests, the obachan (old lady) runs the whole place by herself, so customers are expected to help out. It's a joint effort. We tried the sweet potato fried potatoes, a simple dish but incredibly delicious and heartwarming. Even regular customers who stopped by for a walk with their dogs joined in our fun. Out of the 8 people at our gathering, 5 were meeting for the first time. It was a wonderful find, a perfect spot for casual drinks and snacks. The obachan's attitude of involving customers in running the place is great. It naturally brings people together, helping each other out and connecting on a deeper level. The prices are reasonable, the food is tasty. I have a feeling I'll be a regular here.

For some reason, the mysterious store in Azabu-Juban where publication has been on hold continues. No, it's a great store. After drinking in Musashikoyama from 3 p.m. and hopping to two other places, we arrived here with Myrebi-san. We were warmly welcomed by the older sister, not the aunt. When asked for a drink, I said lemon sour, and was handed a jug with shochu and sour in it. Then, you can add as much lemon juice as you like and make your own lemon sour. You then carry it up to the second floor. That's the kind of place it is. On that day, we were recommended the second floor because the counter seats on the first floor were somewhat full due to previous customers. Perhaps they sensed that we were already too drunk and implemented a policy of isolation. (laughs) As mentioned before, the second floor has a low ceiling from the stairs. Near the entrance of the second floor, it's impossible for someone of my height to stand. So, we were seated at a table in the back. We had already ordered the "Red Fish Grilled Fish" on the first floor. It's delicious. But before the grilled fish arrived, some snacks like appetizers were served. No, it's not an appetizer. It's a luxurious hors d'oeuvre. No, it's "hospitality."
