■ First visit
While walking back from work, I heard about a shady restaurant and was invited to check it out. The nearest station seems to be Azabu-Juban. The restaurant named "Bar MAMI-ANA" is located on the 2nd floor of a small white building right near the intersection of Iidabashi-Katamachi. It seems to be an Okinawan cuisine place. The building has no windows, but a small blue light peeking out makes it intriguing. Since the sign is hardly visible, I wouldn't have entered alone... I visited around 10 pm on a weekday. It was not crowded as it was a weekday, with about 2 regular customers. The interior is not spacious, with around 10 seats at the counter and 2-3 tables. The dim lighting and relaxing Okinawan music create a calming atmosphere. I sat at the counter that day. There were 2 staff members, and their looks were so Okinawan that I couldn't help but ask, "Are you from Okinawa?" They seem to be actually from Okinawa. Well, these staff members were really great. They were super strict (in a good way). Behind them were various Okinawan drinks like Awamori and plum wine. Plum wine made with Awamori. It seemed to be limited in quantity. It was a rich and delicious plum wine that I loved. Even though there were only a few, I kept asking for refills, I'm sorry. Shiikwaasaa. I had never tried this before, and being someone with little knowledge, it was my first time. Sea grapes. They are famous, but I haven't had them in large quantities. Also, the photos look kind of gross. It was delicious though. And this is a classic dish, Goya Champuru. The seasoning was so delicious that when I asked, "What do you use to season this?" they only told me one type of pepper, and apparently, they will tell me the second seasoning on my next visit... I have to keep coming back to find out everything. (´Д`) This is the manager's recommended Soki Soba. The meat was especially tender, and you can even eat the bones!! I thought it was a joke, but it was true... For dessert, I had ice cream. Purple sweet potato ice cream. They only had purple sweet potato! And it was from Blue Seal. It was also delicious. The person I went with said, "Purple sweet potato is the best at Blue Seal!" So, let's just trust the manager on this. I also had sweet red bean soup. It was warm and sweet. The food was delicious, but I really fell in love with the staff here. Basically, my criteria for choosing a restaurant is not only the taste but also whether the staff are charming. I don't want to tell anyone about this place, but... I promised to write about it on my blog, so... I had a great time chatting with the staff at the counter, playing games, guessing birthdays, guessing birthplaces, etc... It felt like hanging out with friends! It's a place where you can casually drop by alone. As I was leaving, I declared, "I won't come back!!" but I will definitely be back. And I will uncover the secret of the seasoning in Goya Champuru. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
