During my visit in December 2018, I bought 3.02 pieces of tuna lean meat for 2,400 yen. The price is rounded down to the nearest 10 yen. After trying bonito flakes at Akiyama Shoten and tamagoyaki at Oosada, it was time for tuna at this place. There is a second branch nearby which is less crowded and easier to shop at. However, this main branch is located next to Sushizanmai and it's quite difficult to shop here due to the crowds. There is no sign indicating the end of the line, so you have to figure it out yourself. The line moves slowly but steadily. Once you reach the front, take your time to choose the desired cuts. If you try to cut in line, the staff will definitely notice. The tuna is being prepared right in front of you, and the turnover is fast. I could only find one piece of bonito, but it looked good with plenty of fat for just 1,000 yen. Even the lean meat is cheaper here compared to other places.

During my visit in November 2018, I went to Tsukiji Sushizanmai and watched a tuna cutting show at the store front. It was amazing to see the foreigners there. When I asked if I could buy the tuna that was being cut, I was told that all the tuna goes to the sushi restaurants. So, I decided to buy the tuna at the store front. When I visited Tsukiji at the end of the year, I will definitely buy tuna here. It is definitely cheaper than other places. Today, I bought the tuna belly cuts for only 1,000 yen. It's a great deal! I also registered at the Marubu 2nd store since I had registered at the other locations.

I visited around 14:40 on Saturday. Many shops in this area close around 15:00, and this shop was also getting ready to close. I bought some fresh medium fatty tuna (chutoro) because it looked good. I ate it at home, and it was very delicious with a refined taste of fat.

Kiyomura, which operates Sushizanmai, also runs a tuna specialty store. They sell the same tuna as Sushizanmai, as well as thick-cut salmon that is more than twice the size of supermarket salmon. My wife brought back a red meat sack of bluefin tuna for 1300 yen and thick-cut salmon for 300 yen as a souvenir from Tsukiji. The bluefin tuna is red meat, but as expected of bluefin tuna, the taste of the fat that spreads when you chew is exceptional. I was fascinated. I bought bluefin tuna from another shop in the same market before, but the quality of the cut was not good and there were some noticeable sinews, unlike this one, which was delicious. I grilled the thick-cut salmon and ate it. I forgot to take a picture, but it was ridiculously large and Instagram-worthy.
